Imagine legitimately thinking any Code ultimates are a downgrade. Shimano are cheap and work that’s why you get them. They’re not on the same level as these brakes. BTW I’ve just had another XT calliper fail on me and the lever is on its way out. They’re the worst of all the mainstream manufacturers.
Having finally owned a full XT build bike. I can never go back to Sram again. Only becuse the gear ratios on the cassette are far better for me. Other than that I could be happy on either.
I am using a Deore cassette 12 sp with Sram AXS derailleur and KMC chain, it works perfectly. Cheap sturdy cassette - wireless transmission. Extra weight is not applicable to the e-bike, but steel works much longer the Aluminium.

@@jayswavely6371 I stick with XT 8000 T since the XT 780 T and XT 780 M shifters are no more made but the XT 8000 T group has shifters, rear derailleurs, front derailleurs and triple crank that are of unmatched quality price ratio. XT 8000 T pedals offer the advantage to be used wih normal shoes and shimano spd. I too buy a lot of XT cassettes.

@@FaiscaaaH it just happened to me this weekend XT calliper seals failed. the lever went two weeks ago lasted for years though they were a warranty replacement for the brake that failed after a few months. Had the worst luck with deore / SLX, never had a calliper last longer than a year lost count of how many that have failed over the last 3 years but it’s more than five and less than ten.

I have no problem with Shimano or Sram brakes. I just don't like Shimanos shifters, (road or mtb, mechanical or electronic), they dont fit my hands and Shimanos mtb shifters feel cheap to me. I also hate thier cranksets, but more than anything I hate thier customer loyalty. It took a total of 6 months for Sram to identify a problem and to issue a recall. Shimano knew for 11 years that thier cranks were bad and did nothing, and even when they did something, it was a fake recall. For this, I can't forgive them. Enjoy your bike, man

Its crazy, cause there are Lab tests that show both brakes are more than adequate, your tires cannot produce enough traction to overpower both sram and shimano brakes, this applies form the strongest to the weakest of shimano and sram's brakes.

They are not using a heavy set of 4 pistons with the biggest rotors avaible with 200 or even 220 mm with ticker rotors (to control better the heat) because ''they dont brake much''. The TRP is the first brand to initiate the trend of 220 mm rotors and accorndly to Sram, every 20 mm is about 14% more torque.

These were probably the weakest pieces of cr*p from any major brake manufacturer available, but were still used by succesful riders. Fast riders tend to brake as little and as short as possible (because of technique). A trained DH rider is therefore much less likely to overheat his/her brakes or not have enough power than an overweight amateur dragging his brakes all down the black descent. Of course athlete racers prefer good equipment and minimize risks, so they'll use powerful brakes regardless. Give them weaker brakes and they'll large rotors to compensate for that. But give them SRAM Code RSC with 180mm rotors and they'll manage, while I would set them on fire and crash.

We know that montain bike have areas where you do this, or some areas when you need to control the speed. Saints have more power than almost any brake in the market (maybe Trickstar or Hopes have more power), but many top riders will prefer riding XTR´s or even a mix of XTR levers with Saints calipers to have more control. The initial bite of Shimano brakes are wayyyyyyyyyyyyy more powerfull than basically any brake in the market (so they feel way more powerfull than they really are). Codes ,SLX, XT and XTR´s at 40 nm of pressure in the levers (or about 4 kg), all have similar breaking torque (this is tested in a dyno). Pads plays a huge part in braking torque... I have a pair of Avid Code 5 from 2008 that still works perfectly, but i swaped the pads for some really cheap ones... I cant even explain how bad my brakes are now, lol.

As a Mechanic, congratulation you invested in the most expensive, unneeded, Stifter System availbile. Last autm i saw this Stifter Group at a bike Park, the Under swinging arm was bended, but hey, the shift Hanger was still ok...
Waste of money. Every bike I get with sram brakes i swap them out after riding ~250 miles (to prove to myself they are still as sh1t as ever, and I need to drop more money on proper brakes). Also swap out anything GX or under out for XT.
I ride by shifting gears on my Shimano XTR and you never hear me, then my friend rides by with his Sram drivetrain and he goes click click clunk clunk clank clank! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Pretty much what I did to my Nukeproof megawatt. Xt in the bin. Eagle GX axs fitted as my XT gear shifts were the worst I have ever owned. Will replace my brakes next as the shimano brake work well but are either on or off... Will go with Hope tech3s or 4s as they give best progressive braking feel for the price.
I've got my Nukeproof Mega Carbon Factory sitting up in my workstand just waiting for the ski season to end! I may be forced to get it an emotional support bicycle! (I've been told the Nukeproof Scout is very calming) 😜👍‼️

I have a Bronson with XT and my Oso came with Transmission. Transmission is the first SRAM drivetrain I have ridden that I can say is equal in shifting to Shimano, both in terms of crispness of the shift, especially under load, and the cassette spacing being better (although I still prefer Shimano’s 46 tooth to SRAM 44). But the battery is a pain in the a$$. I’d happily go back to Shimano XT and the forget-to-charge-free and easily fixable cable. And I certainly would not change from XT to Transmission. Aught to donate that stuff tho to someone who can’t afford it rather than throw in the bin.

My xt 12 shifts perfectly and the brakes are damn near perfect. Plenty of modulation and power. No wandering bite point either.
The Bosch 12v drill is what really sold me on this video 😂

Couldn't wait to replace the SRAM stuff on my bike. Swapped out the Hope brakes from my old bike, and mech & shifter to XT/XTR

"The Workhorse" of the Mtn. Shimano Bike groupsets XT🤘🤘 "YEAH❗️". I've been running Shimano M770 and M772 XT since 2008; oh, and I can't forget the 💰250.00🍁 970 XTR 9spd. cassette that hopefully has the 4 Large 6/4 Titanium cogs😁👍👍

I have a Bronson with XT and my Oso came with Transmission. Transmission is the first SRAM drivetrain I have ridden that I can say is equal in shifting to Shimano, both in terms of crispness of the shift, especially under load, and the cassette spacing being better (although I still prefer Shimano’s 46 tooth to SRAM 44). But the battery is a pain in the a$$. I’d happily go back to Shimano XT and the forget-to-charge-free and easily fixable cable. And I certainly would not change from XT to Transmission. Aught to donate that stuff tho to someone who can’t afford it rather than throw in the bin.
When you charge by the hour and mark up the accessories... absolutely brilliant!!! Don't blame the shop, blame the no skillsets in mechanics rider.

Yeah but the XT stuff would've lasted 10 tens longer than the Sram stuff. That's coming from myself who works in the bike biznis.
