I can see using that on earrings but I wanted something to stiffen the bill on a crochet hat. Something that would be washable
It can actually be washed. I suggest you use a spray bottle and spray the mixture on the bill of a hat instead of soaking.

Can this be done with 4 ply yarn???.like the red heart super saver yarn ????
This also works with acrylic and worsted weight yarns. The output though is not as good as with cotton. You may try a small piece for a sample.

It didn't go away on my first wash. It was still stiff when it dried. Haven't tried it again though.😊

Can be used to acrylic too but the result will not be as good/nice as that of the cotton.

I wanna try this method for my hat project, but will it become loose again if I wash it?
Based on my own experience, I tried to wash that same earrings and dried it, the stiffness is still there. Haven't tried it on big projects though.

Yes it will help. I suggest instead of soaking, try to use a spray bottle. Pin the sleeve on a clean surface and spray the mixture all over it. BUT if you don't have a spray bottle proceed as instructed.❤️

I honestly haven’t done that but you could try using a spray bottle and spray the solution to the brim instead of soaking it.
Hey , what about if I use starch powder with water ? Do I need to add anything in that mixture?
Hi! The best way to use starch is to dissolve it in a bóling water.
Soak the garments/crocheted item and let it dry.
But note that when you wash it again the starch will be completely washed out.
Lumps can also be inevitable in using starch. I believe there are also fabric stiffeners (spray) available in the market.

A friend of mine use glue mixture also in curtains and table cloths. She just put in a spray bottle and spray all over. But she pin it first to a clean surface, stretch it to block.
(Always use a stainless pin when blocking.)

Can use fabric glue? Cause when i use it the earring still soft not stiff.
Haven't tried fabric glue for this mixture. But I did try using only fabric glue and I agree with you, it doe not make the items stiff. So I don't recommend it❤️

What do you mean? The fish hook itself?
Yes, just wipe it off after soaking or better yet, attach the fish hook after drying the crochet item.
What about the smell of glue? How long does it take to go away?
Hi! Based on my experience, once it's dry, the smell of glue is gone too. Just have it dry in a well ventilated area.

Could this ruin the color of the made piece eg. White (or any bright colored) earrings?
If the yarn does not bleed, it definitely won't.
I suggest, wash the piece first to check.

Hi! Just made a few pairs of crochet earrings and was wondering how to stiffen them and sell for profit. I used mod podge on one earring and I not too please with the outcome. The earring looks dull but it’s stiff. Will glue and water give the same results? Is there a different mod podge I can use? TIA
Mod podge usually gives white residue when it dries. Although a mixture of glue and water is already a diy mod podge I prefer to use this as it gives natural stiffness and natural look also. I suggest you try first to a small sample project and see the result.
Remember not to put too many glue in a small amount of water.

Yes, although not all types of yarn. It works best with cotton.
Little amount of glue will do.

@@drawnalyn8825 i haven’t actually tried using this in milk cotton. But I am pretty sure it will work. I suggest that you make a petal and test how much glue to use in order to get the best result. Try also using the spray method. After making the flower, spray the solution, arrange/form the petals and let it dry.

I haven't tried it in a big bag. But we do it in some curtains and get a nice result. We use spray bottle.

Monaco has always been the best sa kahit anong projects. All time favorite. Naisip ko lang gamitin ang dmc kasi sayang yung mga leftover.
Does it smell of glue afterwards?
While it’s still wet, yes it does but gone when it dries up. Not really sure with other brand though.
Does it work on chenille yarn?
I don't recommend this for chenille as it will ruin its quality.

It does not. Just make sure the yarn you use does not bleed.

Yes. Just don't hold the blower too close to the item.
