Ping has Guizhong in her Adept Name: Streetward Rambler in Chinese (歌塵浪市) translates more literally to “Sing the Dust; Wander the City”. In Taoism a lifetime is called “a Dust” (一塵).
What mean of dust in Chinese ? Good or bad preference

YEP genshin is really like the first 3 years of honkai release, it's a set up for a more depressing story.
1:37 - This is fitting with the Jade Sword's flavor text. When Ghuizhong died, "black dust chocked the heavens and mountain splintered". And Rex Lapis called the Yakshas to avoid the miasma staining the air, but also allowing Ghuizhong's passing more peacefully.
Just on different note, there was a different version of the video earlier, which said that what the yaksha’s were containing was the entity that killed Quizhong. So, now I’m just confused on what/who made Quizhong die.

Streetward Rambler and Guizhong were very close. Another evidence of her grief is that she never played the melody for Guizhong again after she completed it, mentioning it that after the person most attuned to her soul died, noone else would ever understand it.

The Chinese translation also uses a character that is used to refer to something that goes beyond platonic or romantic relationships, apparently something like soulmates. So yea they were closer than you can imagine haha

This story might be based on an ancient Chinese tale "知音(Zhiyin)". Boya and Ziqi were close friends. Boya played his qin, and Ziqi always knew what Boya wanted to express through his sound. After Ziqi died, Boya broke his qin and said "Now, no one is enough to listen to my music." It is similar to how Ping stopped playing music because of Guizhong's death.
I'm quite sure that Zhiyin is indeed the term used in the Chinese text, because in the Korean translation also uses the same term.
You are right. When Cloud Retainer was quoting what Streetward Rambler had said about the melody she played only once, the Chinese text is “琴弦未斷，知音已逝 (Qin string yet to break; Zhiyin already gone)”, a poetic reference to the tale of Boya and Ziqi.

On the part of the god's death, it also shows how much damage it cause even for a minor god in the story of the salt god where everyone in the vicinity was turn to salt statue when the god was killed.

This is the same soulmate reference during archipelago with Xinyan and Kazuha. They understandstand each other and connected through music. Xinyan song she was working had blazing trails in its lyrics referencing the her island domain in archipelago last year. The collaboration name "Blaze Lilly's" reference to the sentient flower she met there. She was able to write it cause the people around her understood her soul. Just like Madame Ping until Guizhong died. As artist it's nice to share something with someone who understands you on a deeper level. If that person dies or betrays you that can strip you on a soul level cause attachment and trust is involved.That's why it's crazy how people got mad over the mentions of soulmate, or kindred spirits with these pairings. Both have a beautiful meaning, being an artist I understood what Hoyo was trying to convey with both stories. Unfortunately, All people really care about are just surface levels of shipping and fighting over "whose the best". Anyway, This was a great video analysis.
It's funny because the moment I finished watching the cutscene, I also could see real implications of kindred spirits and the soul of the company passing on.
But the second after that, I was sure someone would ship them to the bitter end. Not only that, I'm sure they'll also start shipping Ping with Cloud retainer because shipping communities bad apples seem to have a fetish on trauma bonding and angst

1:28 even though rex lapis is facing backwards, i can already imagine him having a straight face but crying deep inside in that moment. It must be really painful to him to see his best friend died.
A great cutscene to present bits and pieces of history. Also, a reminder that it's from Cloud Retainer's POV, and it was focusing more on the impact of Guizhong's death on Ping. So no need to conclude the story and think that's all there to it. It makes some things clear, but still lefts a lot unanswered. Rex Lapis was always a judge in the quarrels of other Adepti because he is the prime Adeptus. Although it doesn't explain the forming of the GuiLi plains and the Pledge of Guizhong and Rex Lapis, I'm sure we'll see more of it in the future. After all, the cutscene wasn't about the GuiLi plains.

Almost every romance, if not all, of Genshin is pure head canons. Hoyo hasn't confirmed anything. Apart from that, this cutscene was heart-breaking. It was told from Cloud Retainer's pov so there are likely to be things unexplained
So far, from what we knows, each region(faction) have more than one god in the past. In Mondstadt, they have Andrius and Barbatos. In Liyue, they have Morax, Marchosias and Haagentus. In Inazuma, they have Ei and Makoto. In Sumeru they have Rukhadevata, Scarlet King and goddess of flower.
even more than that, they die a lot after war between god ( the principle force them to do so, as I remember) and only 7 gods survive to rule 7 nation. After ordering 7 gods to deal with Khaeriah the Principle fall asleep up to now ( 500 years pass from that event ).
In mondstadt they had the god of time istaroth and storms decarabian, 4 .

@@pyrite2060 I didn't count god that not on the same group. That's why I didn't include Decarabian in Mondstadt, Havria (she's not fighting against Morax and other but she's not in the same camp as them either) in Liyue and Orobashi from Inazuma.
three other things you may not have noticed: guizhong and zhongli have matching hair clips. Guizhong's is on the side of her head, while zhonglis is holding up his rat tail (?).
Guizhong and Ping are implied to parallel/reflect on venti and xiao, seeing as the endless suffering came out just before that cutscene. it's also said that venti visited an adeptus abode (assumably xiao) and ping asked tubby to create the mondstadt mansion for him. Considering the story regarding them and Dvorak, it's very likely that this was supposed to reflect on how history is repeating itself, hinting to another venti and xiao death flag. also xiao is now presumed to be older than venti due to the seal cutscene.
and lastly, the fact that zhongli has no lines in the cutscene at all. its about Guizhong's relationships, yet only cloud Retainer and ping speak about it. Its meant to once again represent his erosion and loss of loved one's, as he watches it go by again without saying a word.

Venti is a wind spirit so it's possible that he is older than xiao cause barbatos as we know was seeing around 2700 years ago so it's possible that actually venti is older but you could also be right
Venti is actually older. I don't know why people keeps mistake the fact that he is one of the originals archons. And was alive during the archon war while Xiao was created after the war.

Venti never visited xiao because a) yaksha are no adepti (his whole chasm quest was about humans confusing him with), b) why would venti, they arent even friends (as you see from voice lines and upcoming lantern rite). Can be anyone, cloud retainer, ganyu, yanfei but likely zhongli since its only canon person venti meets private (several hoyo official arts). Its riddle for me how fandom Always interpretes xiao and venti being besties while they barely care (xiao cares for the music only, venti cares for everyone equally). Heck read faruzans vision Lore thats even almost venti shipping and people ignore that XD

But that meteor that Zhongli always throws to his enemies probably concealed her last conciousness for Zhongli if he managed to unlock it. So far, he hadn't any leads on how to solve it. Idk, he is wise and smart like Guizhong but even he can't solve it.

The story still feel its missing a lot. I believe their story doesnt end there yet. We still have to witness the birth of Liyue and the creation of Guili Assembly and most importantly, how Guizhong died... In the lore said that Zhongli and Guizhong were alone at her final moments.
One of the most popular theory is Guizhong was corrupted by black alchemy (Art of Khemia or probably something else that she wasnt supposed to see). Zhongli and Guizhong killing each other and the rest is history. The cutscene turned her into a petrified rock but in MoD description, Guizhong turned into finest dust. I believe there is something more that Cloud Retainer, Streetward Rambler and other adepti didnt know and Zhongli is probably the only one who knew the truth.
Archon War is a very mysterious event and anything could go wrong given that the Heavenly Principles and Celestia arent trustworthy.
Zhong li also said that are some Truths from different perspective. So I guess we will explore more of Guizhong and possibly with Zhong li in the future? I am looking forward to those.
The guizhong petrification couldve broken down to turn into dust. Id imagine she was sealed to disallow god residue from ruining the entire nation

Just some interesting trivia and lore coming out of this event and everyone seeing similarities between Guizhong and Ping as Sushang and Fuhua from Honkai.
In one of Sushang's moves in Honkai she says "万剑归终" "Wan Jian Gui Zhong" "10 Thousand Swords Return to the End". This is a reference to the most powerful Wuxia martial arts move "万佛朝宗" "Wan Fo Chao Zong" "Convergence of 10 Thousand Buddhas".
The interesting lore here is Wan Jian *Gui Zhong*/ 归终, Sushang straight up name dropping Guizhong. Gui Zhong is Ping's old rival in Genshin. If Ping derives from Fu Hua, then Guizhong being Sushang makes sense as Fuhua and Sushang are also rivals.
The final battle ground that Guizhong took part in flattened and turned a mountain range into the Guili Plains. Guizhong's death turned the mountain range into dust like how Havria turned everyone into salt.
Guili plains is named after Gui from Guizhong(Return to the End) and Li from Zhongli(Time Left), it means Return and Leave, the last place they met and left each other forever. The puzzle(meteor) is Guizhong's last gift to him and he remembers her with it.
Love the trivia, it feels like a extension of this video.
No, 万剑归宗 is not reference from other wuxia, its itself one powerful wuxia move..This is created long before Honkai
@@lolypoppp7 Wuxia is too vast, 万剑归宗 is from 风云, which is pretty new in the history of Wuxia.
Jin Yong is the grandfather of modern Wuxia and inspired everything that came after it, he created 万佛朝宗, 万剑归宗 itself is a reference to it.
This is very likely because it compliments word to word like a 对联.
@@anekiryota6049 Guili is a thematic name, where it's not named because the inhabitants in the universe knows about these characters, but a name in the universe that carries extra meaning for the audience.
Guili can be read in 2 ways, "Return and Leave" or "The place where Gui(Return) Left. It is thematically named for us to recognise as the place where Guizhong left and Zhongli last saw her.
I had discussions some where else and what's clear is that Guili Assembly was flattened in the area and mountains surrounding Guili was carved away within a blast radius as seen in the cinematic. How mountainous the region actually was is unknown, but there was a blast radius where everything was turned to dust.
Guizhong and Ping are stated in dialogue by Cloud Retainer as rivals at least in English. Guizhong and Ping had a friendly rivalry where they argued the meaning of music and along with Cloud Retainer their abilities in technology and combat.

I definitely think they do do that, (like Beidou and Nigguangg) but specifically in this case this story felt more like a Xingqui and Chongyun case. It could be taken in a relationship kind of light but the the story itself really makes them feel simply like best friends.

Idk if it's fitting to say Ping is the most affected by her death since Zhongli as a character was also greatly affected by how he changed and the great lengths he went to to understand humanity, they were both affected a great deal.
yeah, it is mentioned in one of the book (iirc) that Zhongli is the brawn to Guizhong's brain.
Venti also said that Morax is a muscle-head, meaning he's all about brute force.
But after Guizhong's death, Morax changed... he started to use his intellect more instead of just force.
And I guess that's how Zhongli manage to win the archon war, maybe if he only relies on his brutes he could've lost?

i think yall are misunderstanding something: this doesnt mean that zhongli and guizhong werent as close as we thought, it just means she was also close to the adepti. this cutscene is shown by the perspective of cloud retainer only, theres more to it than this.
People erasing Zhong li's lore with Guizhong like it doesn't exist anymore. It does matter. She matters to him, ping, and the other adepti.

I wonder if hoyoverse would make a gameplay for the Archon War and the Cataclysm, like a DLC or maybe as another game. It would be cool to play as the First Descender, exploring around and meeting the original 7 archons. Then the Cataclysm will be the other sibling POV.

I think it's supposed to be symbolic; Guizhong loved Glaze Lilies and from what we know of her she loved humanity too. So replanting the glaze lilies in her memory and returning the land to what it was when she was around would honor her memory and show that her dream of a peaceful, prospering Liyue came true.

Please this is mihoyo they will only ever tease relationships never confirm anything to avoid passing off fans and ships. That's why four acts in we still don't have a character who is married. Zhongli and Guizhong are "best friends" just like Beidou and Ninguangg are "best friends". And grief affects everyone differently. Zhongli threw himself into his work. Cloud retainer I guess became more reclusive. Madame ping went to live in the human society to understand guizhongs words. And she had her home in the guili assembly not the mountains and we know all adeptus even ping lived there. Zhongli on the other hand much like he protected liyue would also have been guili assembly protected since he was the brawn and guizhong was the brains. Highly likely they lived close or together...
they were allies co-rulers she was nothing as special as osial, cloud retainer, the yakshas etc his priority was for liyue
also hoyo is known to make tragic love stories so
i need another pov of her death and how they usually sees her, i cant really trust much if its still from one person pov. So im going to wait for Zhongli's pov about this.

I don't know why I find It weird but it's kinda strange that Rex Lapiz is shown without eyes in the flashbacks. And even in the scene where Guizhong is shown dead his face is not seen

Remember when people were throwing fits saying how Guizhong and Ningguang will be the same person and how they're really simmilar and how Zhongli was so in love with Guizhong

I don't feel like this cutscene implied Zhongli and Guizhong were just friends/colleagues. It showed they cared deeply for one another. If anything, I feel like the position and state Guizhong is in could have implied Zhongli was hugging her before the end
Yeah, this is why i hate this channel tbh, I only watch it sometimes when im bored but i already unsubbed long ago. This guy is always pushing his opinions as facts, in a passive aggressive way, while trying to snuff out theories he "doesn't like". Like cool if he believes they were just friends, fine, but stop acting like its a fact just because he thinks it is. He did this with the slime theory too and look how wrong he was about that lol. There is so much evidence in the game (not headcannon) that suggested their relationship to be much more, and just because some researcher who was already misinterpreting archons says they were best friends, then all of a sudden, that evidence is now fake?

@@pravindkumar8095 No. The Chasm already looked like that before the azhdaha fight. It was formed like that because of the Celestial nail sent there. The remnants of the azhdaha fight can be seen at the top of chasm to nantianmen and those huge unique rocks found in chasm.

Xiao’s Wiki states he was freed by Zhongli during the Archon war. Guizhong’s death was during the Archon war. We don’t know which came first, and seeing this cutscene, I’m gonna assume Xiao joined the Yakshas before Guizhong died
Looking at the still images it is really resembling xiao. All the other yakshas are clearly drawn and visible to be recognised as well. So it might be thing that can be explained in future? A retcon or simply another adepti that look like Xiao. AHH so excited to know more.

Being a loving god is hard in teyvat, their death also means doom to their territory with the miasma and such. So far, only Zhongli is reponsible enough to clean up after other god's miasma. Raiden is the worse at cleaning, way too many island left fucked up cause she killed a god there. Venti didn't clean up after decarabian, but he does terraform his entire domain to be habitable.. nahida case, well not many god fought her...bit she can't clean up after scarlet king

I'm surprised Xiao was there when Guizhong died. I thought he was indeed over 2000 from his description, but not over 3000 (like saying you're over 20, i would assume you're still within 21-29, not in 30s or 40s, but that's probably just me lol), so i thought he never met Guizhong since he was born way after she died. And I couldnt really tell it's him, but looking again, that does look like his pose in yaksha cutscene, just lack the polearm ig. And a bit too tall than i thought lol. I wonder if he used to adore Guizhong too since she was quite a lovable person.
May I know where the 'Xiao born after Guizhong died' came from? Iirc, there is a story telling that he was a slave for an evil god before joining hands with Zhongli then helped him in archon war
@@ramyoen6131 Nah, i just assume he never met Guizhong because she died around 3700 years ago, while Xiao's was stated to be over 2000 (and I assumed he's still within 2000s). So there's a gap of 1700 years. He joined Zhongli & co in archon war (end around 2000 years ago), but no one can really tell how old he was at the time or how long he is with that evil god. You might want to check in Genshin wiki, there's a page that arrange Teyvat timeline including Liyue's history if that helps. Sorry for the long reply

Yes, zhongli and guizhong are not lovers. Some people just likes to ship and add romance to anything. Theyre just partners wherein zhongli is brawns and guizhong is brains. They were a perfect duo that lead the first people of liyue. Guizhong's bestfriend is streetward rambler, as shown in the story.
More likely it was one sided. Zhongli was called by Venti as a Block head and Pre Archon war Zhongli was more harsh. Given that he was there mediator, he was likely more oblivious to emotions.

I like how they went ahead and finished the event story because tons of ppl showed the cutscene. Now you can say that isn't why they did it but every other lantern rite main quest was about 5 days, 3 parts not 2. Now yes I may still be wrong but hey uou never know.
There's a third part called "Epilogue"
Not sure if there's a 4th or 5th. But when I finished the 1st part, only the second part "appeared" and said it'd be unlocked after x hours....
then when part w was unlocked, part 3 appeared and said unlocked after x days.

We can't really say about Gui and Zhongli as this story was more about getting friends close together with music and her relationship with the adepti.

Cause her voiceline about Zhongli suggests that she doesn't know of his true identity yet in the latest Lantern Rite quest, Cloud Retainer openly speaks about Zhongli being Rex Lapis in front of her. And she doesn't seem fazed at all. Has anyone checked if her voiceline about him changed? I'm curious 🙌
Ah yes, the typical inconsistency of game interactions. I even have this question back when Ping and Zhongli had once an Interaction (somewhere like the past year's Lantern rite festival) where if Ping knows Zhongli's true identity or not because ping sounds like she does even if there's no past interactions to back it up.
Zhongli really is just an inconsistent character to portray, since he himself can't even tell if he wants to be truly hidden or not (this is a reference of him giving hints through dreams that he's still alive to major characters in the game in the Liyue Archon Quest)
It is not that Guanyu don't know the existence of Rex Lapis but Rex Lapis takes on many forms before, so she is not sure what his latest form is. She saw his previous form before he change to the current male human form.
That caught my attention as well. I always wondered if Ganyu knew, considering she's so devote to him. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I seem to recall a past interaction between Ganyu and Zhongli where it was apparent that she didn't know he is Rex Lapis. Or at least, she didn't treat him with the etiquette I'm sure she would've if she knew. But I could be wrong since I can't say where that interaction happened. Anyway, after this scene with Cloud Retainer, I'll be looking forward to see how Ganyu ad Zhongli's next interaction goes (I really hope for consistency)

Cloud Retainer said that when Ping heard someone named Zhongli wanted to borrow her Cleansing Bell, she inmediately knew that it was Rex Lapis in disguise. The reason being that they know each other for so long, that they just instinctively recognize each other
Ganyu didn't work closely with Rex Lapis himself, and he had many forms, and she was grieving and overworking, so she saw him and didn't connect the dots.
Zhongli current attire isn't something he wore before retirement. It was a gift from the tailor, but he didn't use until much later. (The tailor is likely one of Hu Tao grandfathers), that's why it match Hu Tao perfectly.
Others didn't recognize Morax being alive until we asked about the cleansing bell. Ping understood, and told the others. Then one year later, Zhongli went to visit the Adepti in the next lantern rite. So it was crystal clear.
Ning learned the truth from the dream, and ordered closure of the case immediately.

Personally I think that Ping, Guizhong and Zhongli were all friends but Ping and Gui had some friendly rivarly, and Gui’s death hit Ping the hardest

The war started and ended in different times in each nation.
For Sumuru, it never started. Deshret already decided to share his throne with the two other archons in his nation. There were no one fighting.
Then he followed his ambition which led first to GoF death, and then his own sacrifice. Which left Rukkhadevata alone, and in smaller form. So when war ended in all other nations and archons ascended to Celestia to receive the gnosis, Rukkhadevata took it.
Zhongli was the prime adeptus and was the one judging between them, and they were all together. But also war happened, and Zhongli got the highest kill count. But also the plague and famine and corruption took those on his side, so only him was left.
Ei on other hand murdered things with and without reason .. like "I deem the thunderbird too dangerous to live .. now you shall parish!"

I'm assuming Madam Ping's old lady form is just some form of disguise. So it's possible they will actually make her young form playable, along with Cloud Retainer's human form.
Well... Ping offered Retainer that she could teach joung humans the Mechanical Arts in the harbor.
Maybe in the future she realdy thinks about and evend does it, so then it would make sense for her to stay in human form, to be playable for us.
