We know that Khaenri'ah energy source and their rise occured specifically because of the knowledge from above Teyvat, as said in the diary near the Khaenri'ah gate, but, they got destroyed just thousands of years after this, for unknown reasons, but probably because of their researches about the creation of life. It means that they know how, and have enough material, to deal with forbidden knowledge, at least that one related to the energy source of the machines. What if Guizhong simply debunked what exacly this energy is, and this itself is enough forbidden knowledge to corrupt her, but she doesn't have ways to deal with forbidden knowledge like Khaenri'ah scientists had?
Another thing to mention is that Cloud Retainer said that Guizhong was killed by the enemy, but it makes no sense since: 1. Cloud Retainer and the other Adepti were ‘too late’ as evidenced by the cutscene, and only Zhongli was at her death (MoD) and 2. Zhongli said that ‘the same truth could become twisted coming from different people’ afterwards. It also doesn’t help that Guizhong’s death in the cutscene doesn’t match her death in the MoD description, like when it states she died in a field of glaze lilies like the one she first met Zhongli in, but none could be found in the cutscene. So is the cutscene Cloud Retainer’s POV, and MoD is Zhongli’s POV?

I JUST wrote about this in my theory crafting regarding guizhong in a discord im part of!!! glad I'm not the only person who considered this-!! As soon as I finished the main archon quest in Sumeru I instantly thought back to her stone dumbbell and her obession for knowledge and technology. Past Inazuma, the concept of obtaining knowledge you're not supposed to have and suffering for it REALLY is being hammered home here. I suspected Guizhong suffered a similar fate to the original Focalore- in her case, propping humans up and thinking they ca rival the gods, and getting in trouble because she stumbled across something she shouldn't have, and her death was very intentional during the Archon war beyond being such a normal casualty!
what do u think abt the other implications of Guizhong's character? Her name Guizhong in CN is a demon who knows abt the present and past but cannot see the future? Her name Haagentus is inspired from Haagenti who has relations to Alchemy or khemia? How abt her Galaxy themed motifs -> dust -> stardust/moon dust, etc... I genuinely think there is so much more that we don't know about Guizhong's lore and I think her lore has potential to be very important in terms of impact to the overall story of Teyvat. I keep saying this but the Memory of Dust is actually named as the LOCK OF THE MORTAL WORLD in CN. That is a very specific title with heavy implications considering that Teyvat seems to be like a simulation and the fake sky theory too. And the fact that she told Zhongli to forego the idea of opening it and he still has not opened it even after thousands of years. There's also the Book of the Gallant entitled DUST which people were relating to Guizhong since it occurred at the Dihua Marsh in Guili Plains and the woman was wearing billowing indigo sleeves and was suggested to have been fighting someone. The only one who can really give us an insight to it is Zhongli, but he's so secretive abt it. He did not even mention Guizhong last year's Lantern Rite, other than hint to the fact that Soraya's research is getting closer to the truth. But even Soraya herself cannot make any conclusions of what really occurred in the Guili Plains.

But also that it’s possible that she could also be the creator of the Masterless Stardust, like how Zhongli made Mora, because the God of Stardust is no longer living. (Also, did you know that the Geoculus Resonance Stone, which represents the power of the Archon ruling over them and aignifance over the land, is made of both Glaze Lilies and Cor Lapis?)

I agree with the whole corrupted Guizhong, however an interesting thing is the fact that cloud retainer mentions is that "War broke out among the gods, and soon engulfed the guili plains" which makes 0 sense like Soraya said. Zhongli 100% covered this up, he hid the fact of her corruption and sealed it away the Yaksha then maintained the seal and ensured it was taken care of properly. But how did the Guili plains become war ridden despite Zhongli being there? A god so mighty he cuts mountains with a casual swing, and creates living weapons? Simple, he provoked a fight with the gods and most likely a rival like Osial or something else who would be more than eager to accept. Through this Zhongli allowed his own nation to be destroyed by a water diety, caused the Yaksha to absorb excessive Karma, and had many adepti work themselves to the bone to help relocate everyone. We arent sure of when Everything happened and I might be getting the timing wrong but Marchosius/Guoba helped moving people from the Guili plains due to a flood. It was only 100 years after this relocation where he lost most of his power and became the Guoba we know today. Interesting side comments: 1) Zhongli is extremely knowledgeable in all things. 2) Guoba tells Zhongli about "The secrets of the flame" soon followed by a "rebirth". 3) Zhongli very recently almost let a water Diety destroy his nation which likely hints towards this past. (Just like the theory about sumeru and inazuma representing how the world is a dream and in a samsara cut off from the rest of the universe talks about past events). 4) Each nation seems to be undergoing a huge samsara where past events repeat in some way: a) Mondstat is having its own resident fight back against its ruler but fails this time. b) Hydro Diety attempts to destroy a nation but fails this time. c) Diety attempts to isolate their people from the world, but fails this time. d) Through the power of the dendro diety the people of the whole nation are put into a dream to repeat endlessly, but fails this time. e) Nation nearly gets flooded having nearly all their history erased, but fails this time. Using this possibly flawed thought process I come to the conclusion that Zhongli purposefully let his nation be destroyed by Osial or one of the many Hydro Dieties be it for reasons similar to Obaraxi's execution (aka ordained by celestia), or to cover up what occured for one reason or another. @@kim_genshin That not out of the question but my reasoning mainly comes from Zhongli's inccessant mentioning of hydro creatures and deities in regards to attacks on his land to the point where he hates sea food due to these past experiences. I wanted abit more evidence and whilst not perfect I got this from the quest item after you finish Liyue archon quest. not full quote but: "There once was a time when the inhabitants of this land were terrorized by waves as tall as mountains, torn from their dreams in the dead of night by the deafening roar of tidal waves that would shake the world to its core." I mean if a tsunami the size of a mountain hit them it would cause a flood and would force them to escape, Morax would be able to stop it but he seemingly just..didnt? Signora mentions he could easily stop it (Yes Osial was weakened but so was zhongli, and he had the gnosis even back then so it shouldnt be out of the question for him to erect a massive barrier atleast). I REALLY hope for more lore regarding Liyue and zhongli, especially with his weird connections to different things including hydro creatures, and the cryo archon seem most interesting to me.
I am not sure, I am not convinced that forbidden knowledge corrupts beings like Seelie at least, that's not the indication I get from Nabu Malikata. Of course, I am operating under the theory basis that she is a Seelie.. I wonder if she was sentenced to death at the hands of other gods because of her findings rather than being "corrupted", in the traditional sense.

@@Fuphu I don't think it was ever said that only one survived. Many would lose their forms and their memories and intelligence. That said, the Aranara do recall of one such survivor that managed to evade such a fate but there is no record that says there's only one survivor. I think entities like Guizhong, Amos, Sibylla, Paimon and Columbina may also be survivors. Edit: I mean, I include Paimon but with her motif and symbolism, I think she may have been more central to the Seelie's fate, along with the Unknown God and Istaroth.
Always at the right moment Kim ! I just had happened to run into a theory about that not long ago that dated back to 3 years, and the fact that Zhongli himself appointed us to Soraya is very fascinating, it's also very sad and very suspicious that every trace of her had disappeared from the records of Liyue, for one that was a deity to a consequent part of Liyue's original demographic, getting to know about her merely from the Adepti and old stales is quite intriguing. I have always pondered on the theory of the forbidding knowledge being somehow to the corruption Xiao talked about in utter horror, linking to what happened to Guizhong. Afterall, her being ''interested in technology'' and ''eager for knowledge'' are just too specific of threats to be depicted as to not mean anything. It's not hard to believe actually, with more and more evidence accumulating, I find it hard to believe now that he wasn't the one to mercy kill her. After all the way the scene is described by Soraya hints as much at it. It will not be a first sentence of Gods seeking that abyssal power to thrive amongst the others and in that merciless race amongst the seats.
I tend to think that this is indeed the case, that not just guizhong but a whole group of gods were "possessed" by this darkness and it's that which made them fight to the death to try and destroy the other archons and not just some simple "fight each other till one is left" edict of heaven. Not all of these gods in the archon war perished , we know some fled and some went to the "dark sea" and still abide there likely in their corrupted state. The contract that zhongli agreed to with some other power may have been to uphold the integrity of these archons so when they became corrupted he may have been forced by contract to end them. Now that we know of the existance of surtologi it'd be interesting to see his lore on what happened in that time period. We know that in sumeru there were 3x gods that DID not fight and had not been "corrupted" at that time. Later nabu malikata and deshret both perished. Deshret from suicide because of forbidden knowledge corruption.
Zhongli killing Guizhong would be very tragic, not only he was forced to sealed his Azzy, he also has to killed his best friend (possible love interest?). Also SPOILER!!! From Fujin quest, they mentioned that many god that participate in Archon war turned mad eventually just like her previous master before Zhongli. So perhaps that the Archon War itself has some connection with Abyss? Also, technically Liyue region is already in Archon War BEFORE Guizhong supposed corruption and death, Guili Assembly is just a small region in Liyue that gets to experience peace and of course to maintain this peace some fighting with other god who did attack guili assembly is needed. So what if Guizhong who has been researching Khan'rahn technology in relative safety but coming contact with these crazed god is the one that pushed it over the edge? Also, Gods turning mad in Archon War is oddly similar to symptom caused by Erosion? could Erosion and Abyss have been connected?
also the thing xiao mentioned in the new quest implied that only when guizhong died did the archon war reached it’s peak. if her death didn’t happen, the catalyst for its end might’ve not happened 👀

Perhaps the nine pillars of peace absorbed the forbidden knowledge, plus the yaksha's main role is to get rid of corruption so i guess thats how they successfully got rid of the forbidden knowledge
I more belife that Zhongli kill Guizhong because their story is kinda similar to Kiana and jyahar ,imean like kiana and Guizhong is Happy go lucky girl that meet an entity that more power then them that is jyahar or Zhongli they both once entity that not evil but not relly care to human but after meet Kiana and guizhong they both begun to care about human but one day kiana and guizhong get corypted and become dangerous kiana become herrscher of the end and guizhong may be corupted by Abyssal power and then jyahar and zhongli must kill someone that theire love to save human . I've always thought Guizhong had been currupted by the abyss and Morax had to kill her but I forgot about Forbidden Knowledge could be a factor...or maybe my mind just mainly associate it in Sumeru or Khanri'ah...but geez Zhongli really deserved that retirement...and now he is carrying forbidden knowledge around or he hid it somewhere... Malikata was struck with the nail that froze her paradise in time. Though her body is nowhere to be found, Guizhong was also frozen in time via petrification. You should look into the similarities between Zhongli and King Deshret. Your mind will explode, I promise you.
@@PixelMochi I've seen the similarities, from gold to death to having Zhongli's back symbol in Deshret's domain and a close partner associated with night glowing flowers, hence I believe Zhongli is a type of God King... and then I saw that chaotic theory video about revealing Zhongli's true identity would end up spoiling the plot of genshin. That blew my mind but I am a bit skeptical on some parts... This is why Zhongli is my fav, from his design, voice and the flipping mystery behind his character!
It wasn't morax who killed/sealed her. It was the yakshas and adepti as we can clearly see in the picture. And guizhang asking morax to forget about her gift doesn't necessarily mean it was loaded with forbidden knowledge. Maybe she just wanted morax to forget her and move on.
Clearly you weren’t paying attention. The Yakshas and Adepti arrived only after Guizhong died. What they were sealing was the aftermath that is left after a god’s death, in this case Guizhong Also, no one just says to “forget the dumbbell” as their final words unless it was truly important

Signora mentions he could easily stop it (Yes Osial was weakened but so was zhongli, and he had the gnosis even back then so it shouldnt be out of the question for him to erect a massive barrier atleast).
I REALLY hope for more lore regarding Liyue and zhongli, especially with his weird connections to different things including hydro creatures, and the cryo archon seem most interesting to me.
I am not sure, I am not convinced that forbidden knowledge corrupts beings like Seelie at least, that's not the indication I get from Nabu Malikata. Of course, I am operating under the theory basis that she is a Seelie.. I wonder if she was sentenced to death at the hands of other gods because of her findings rather than being "corrupted", in the traditional sense.

@@Fuphu I don't think it was ever said that only one survived. Many would lose their forms and their memories and intelligence. That said, the Aranara do recall of one such survivor that managed to evade such a fate but there is no record that says there's only one survivor. I think entities like Guizhong, Amos, Sibylla, Paimon and Columbina may also be survivors.
Edit: I mean, I include Paimon but with her motif and symbolism, I think she may have been more central to the Seelie's fate, along with the Unknown God and Istaroth.

I just had happened to run into a theory about that not long ago that dated back to 3 years, and the fact that Zhongli himself appointed us to Soraya is very fascinating, it's also very sad and very suspicious that every trace of her had disappeared from the records of Liyue, for one that was a deity to a consequent part of Liyue's original demographic, getting to know about her merely from the Adepti and old stales is quite intriguing. I have always pondered on the theory of the forbidding knowledge being somehow to the corruption Xiao talked about in utter horror, linking to what happened to Guizhong. Afterall, her being ''interested in technology'' and ''eager for knowledge'' are just too specific of threats to be depicted as to not mean anything.
It's not hard to believe actually, with more and more evidence accumulating, I find it hard to believe now that he wasn't the one to mercy kill her. After all the way the scene is described by Soraya hints as much at it.
It will not be a first sentence of Gods seeking that abyssal power to thrive amongst the others and in that merciless race amongst the seats.
I just hope this lantern rite will cover the mystery behind the death of guizhong😭
I tend to think that this is indeed the case, that not just guizhong but a whole group of gods were "possessed" by this darkness and it's that which made them fight to the death to try and destroy the other archons and not just some simple "fight each other till one is left" edict of heaven. Not all of these gods in the archon war perished , we know some fled and some went to the "dark sea" and still abide there likely in their corrupted state. The contract that zhongli agreed to with some other power may have been to uphold the integrity of these archons so when they became corrupted he may have been forced by contract to end them. Now that we know of the existance of surtologi it'd be interesting to see his lore on what happened in that time period.
We know that in sumeru there were 3x gods that DID not fight and had not been "corrupted" at that time. Later nabu malikata and deshret both perished. Deshret from suicide because of forbidden knowledge corruption.
Zhongli killing Guizhong would be very tragic, not only he was forced to sealed his Azzy, he also has to killed his best friend (possible love interest?). Also SPOILER!!!
From Fujin quest, they mentioned that many god that participate in Archon war turned mad eventually just like her previous master before Zhongli. So perhaps that the Archon War itself has some connection with Abyss?
Also, technically Liyue region is already in Archon War BEFORE Guizhong supposed corruption and death, Guili Assembly is just a small region in Liyue that gets to experience peace and of course to maintain this peace some fighting with other god who did attack guili assembly is needed. So what if Guizhong who has been researching Khan'rahn technology in relative safety but coming contact with these crazed god is the one that pushed it over the edge?
Also, Gods turning mad in Archon War is oddly similar to symptom caused by Erosion? could Erosion and Abyss have been connected?
The Heavenly Principles' Erosion and the Abyssal Corruption do share that effect of going mad🤔 althought the big main effect of erosion is memory loss
also the thing xiao mentioned in the new quest implied that only when guizhong died did the archon war reached it’s peak. if her death didn’t happen, the catalyst for its end might’ve not happened 👀

Perhaps the nine pillars of peace absorbed the forbidden knowledge, plus the yaksha's main role is to get rid of corruption so i guess thats how they successfully got rid of the forbidden knowledge

What i meant to say is that Guizhong was researching khaenriah technology and was putting the forbidden knowledge inside the dumbbell (without knowing that it's dangerous) until one day she became corrupted, then in the end she told morax to not open the dumbbell

I've always thought Guizhong had been currupted by the abyss and Morax had to kill her but I forgot about Forbidden Knowledge could be a factor...or maybe my mind just mainly associate it in Sumeru or Khanri'ah...but geez Zhongli really deserved that retirement...and now he is carrying forbidden knowledge around or he hid it somewhere...

Malikata was struck with the nail that froze her paradise in time. Though her body is nowhere to be found, Guizhong was also frozen in time via petrification. You should look into the similarities between Zhongli and King Deshret. Your mind will explode, I promise you.
@@PixelMochi I've seen the similarities, from gold to death to having Zhongli's back symbol in Deshret's domain and a close partner associated with night glowing flowers, hence I believe Zhongli is a type of God King... and then I saw that chaotic theory video about revealing Zhongli's true identity would end up spoiling the plot of genshin. That blew my mind but I am a bit skeptical on some parts...

It wasn't morax who killed/sealed her. It was the yakshas and adepti as we can clearly see in the picture.
And guizhang asking morax to forget about her gift doesn't necessarily mean it was loaded with forbidden knowledge. Maybe she just wanted morax to forget her and move on.
Clearly you weren’t paying attention. The Yakshas and Adepti arrived only after Guizhong died. What they were sealing was the aftermath that is left after a god’s death, in this case Guizhong
Also, no one just says to “forget the dumbbell” as their final words unless it was truly important
