I have come to the conclusion that we are not the same organisms we were 200 years ago. With all of this Science and Technology we have been able to Reshape our bodies into different forms Our ancestors could not even dream up.
Personally, I feel like this is basically an extreme form of body dysmorphia, which I suffer from, as well. I remember being 65kg when I was 24. I am a 178cm tall guy. I looked in the mirror and saw myself as fat, even though I was literally skinny as. I think it needs psych intervention to solve. Because the bigger Sam gets, the more stress on his joints and heart. Even Arnold has said that modern bodybuilding has gone far beyond reasonable.
Whenever i see a video of you i wonder if in like 20 Years, Doctors will use Memes to prove a point. Something like in the papers to any medicine we will have a photo (or a gif, maybe everything is digital then) of a Meme that summarizes something we have or should not do. (Take medicine with Milk or something like that)
It seems to be the burden of youth, when we are young we feel indestructible, mortality is not a concern! I wish the best for him, but he seems to be set on his path, I hope that the wake up lesson won't be as bad as we have witnessed with others.
I tapped out guys. Ive given up on increasing mass coz it was just too time consuming and still was impossible to compete against the guys that are juicing. I still go gym but dropped 12kgs and now focus on calisthenics and mobility. Blood pressure down Joint pain gone Happiness up
I left cardio and calisthenics for the costs in bikes, shoes, and boxing bags, but I am going back to it too. Cycled 6-8 hours a day and did 2 hours of calisthenics and light weight in the moring and never felt better. I switched to weights after wearing through a couple of grand in equipment. Nobody really talks about how nauseating the food you have to consume to maintain lifting. Or how you have to shower 3 times a day and meal prep so many hours a week more. Or the extremely irrational hangry moments. I have no idea how guys on juice don't act out because I was wanting to throw hands with people who cut in line at the grocery store without using!
I think a lot of us would be better off trying to stay lean rather than adding mass. Look better, feel better, be healthier. I say that as a guy who is fat as hell at the end of a bulk.
High blood pressure is no joke. I had it undiagnosed for years because I was overweight, until I ended up in hospital with a reading of 219/124 and the nurse went pale and said I should not even be alive at that point. I should have been dead. I had absolutely no symptoms, until one day, my chest felt tight and I struggled to breathe. I have since given up smoking, changed my diet and exercise more. I was only 33 years old when I had my stent put in to save my life. Please, I implore everyone reading this, change your life style, improve your diet and for the love of God, get checked out by a doctor regularly. Edit: I will be 36 this year (2024).
@@ivanmate6341 I never had it checked. I abused my body and assumed youth was on my side. I honestly believe if I was older, I’d be dead. Now, I do own a blood pressure monitor and I used to check once every day, but have now cut down to 3 times a week as my health has vastly improved since.

The sad part is when you are young you think 50`s and 60`s are far far away but in a blink of a eye it`s here.A good friend of mine used to say anything after 50 is a gift,at 51 he died from steroids, his heart just gave out
@@richardstheman1 good question. That statement needs allot more context. Was he on steroids for decades? Years? One year? Did he take any precautions/ what was his diet etc. there’s old school bodybuilders in their 80s doing just fine and you know they were on large doses. So definitely need more context.
It sounds to me like your friend did not plan to live into his 50s and was quite happy to go at 51. That is a life lived to his fullest and you should stop telling people that dying "early" is bad.
@@suave-rider I agree. I think a lot of people might not actually want to live the longest possible life they can, and actually would prefer to exit in their 50's or 60's instead of slowly deteriorating in a nursing home for a decade+ . And I think there is actually some sense to this idea.
As someone who worked with doctors for almost a decade. I really appreciate your down to earth approach to topics and the lack of condescension that a lot of doctors and specifically surgeons have.
In my 38 years of lifting weights and being called a gym rat, I have never used any PEDs. Yes, it was disheartening to say the least when I was competing against those that did PEDs. However, I was not going to be influenced by others. I am my own person, and I do not need others for validation. I work hard; try to eat right; and set realistic goals. To each their own, but for me being clean is the ultimate gratification in knowing I achieved my physique and strength sans any PEDs.
Well done. For people that are set to compete the PEDs are the only way. For people looking for validation, they should rather go work on their self-esteem because those likes and followers are useless in the long run.
I think of it like this; who will likely stay in the gym late into their life? The natty. We get to continue to do what we love for way longer because we had patience and the discipline not to be influenced into risking our health. Huge win for us!
Im competing for the first time as a 29yo this October, been lifting natty for 10 years now. Not expecting to win but it'll be fun to see if I can beat some of the PED users at least. It also helps motivate me achieving my best physique the few years I still have in the tank :')
"This is NOT AT ALL what health is" - Based, true and well said! As a father raising a competitive teenage son, I tell him this all the time. He gets it.
Well, yeah. Health and fitness have nothing to do with each other. Even if someone WASN'T using PEDs, pushing their body to the limits is inherently unhealthy. So what?
@@JLUX100 lol 98% in your dreams. I know two guys lost their minds on Tren and had to quit and now on TRT. I know a guy who started around Sam’s age and now in his early 30’s he looks like late 40’s and losing most his hair. Of course dosage counts but most people will end up using too much because it’s addictive. You use it to get unnatural gains. After a while both the muscle and lift number gains will plateau, so you have to up the dosage for more gains. 🤷♂️
The bodybuilding judges these days are also to blame. If these guys arent absolutely as massive as possible they just inevitably lose every competition. Anyone wanting to be a bodybuilder is forced to do insane amount of gear to win anything of value.
It used to be pure aesthetics, it was why Arnold, Ronnie and Jay were at the top while absolute monsters like Markus Ruhl who were bigger than all of them never bagged an Olympia

Sam Sulek breaks my heart because he reminds me of someone I was close to in the army. He had almost the same physique, with a large chest, wide arms, and a massive abdominal. He denied using steriods even though it was pretty much an open secret in our platoon that he'd been juicing since college at the lastest. He was hospitalized for high blood pressure at 28 despite having the highest fitness score in the *brigade*
@@bazooka712 that has nothing to do, steroids are medicines, used correctly to improve quality of life. You cant compare using steroids to smoking lol (btw, im on TRT by doctors)
I concur , so many young men are jumping straight into steroids and instead of ppl wanting to be a great shape ppl wanna just be the strongest and biggest which doesn’t mean ur actually in shape . And theyre taking sauce to get there . We need to stop idolizing steroid abusers .
good information isn't readily either, is not like this guys are studying basic anatomy or have the means to understand how complex the endocrine system is, or even care. they just hop on drugs and hope for the best. that is no way of life.
Agreed. I liked the part about the increase in PED usage over time. We've normalised the abnormal. We've made it easier to get PEDs without people understanding the risks, or being supervised. Like a lot of other drugs, the suppliers just want the cash. Unsupervised, it has the same risk as with other drugs. If one pill makes you feel good, 2 or 3 will make you feel even greater, right? It seems the same with PEDs with people overdosing in pursuit of fast gains, without perhaps realising the damage they can be doing to their skeletal, cardio vascular systems etc. I don't think PEDs are necessarily a bad thing, but users need to be very aware of the risks.
Out of the 3 guys from our group of mates who got on the roids in our teenage years (20y ago), 1 of them is dead and the other 2 are not in a good place mentally or physically. Despiye the pressure , im so happy i refused to go down that rd.
He seems like a very easy going and down to earth guy. If being that big is worth potentially half of his lifespan, that's up to him. But I do hope he reconsiders and tries to take better care of his health. So many of these guys drop dead far too young.
I really think Chris Raynor needs to do a video on the stories of people surviving falling from planes without parachutes. Several women have survived falls of over 10,000+ (3k meter) feet. I think analyzing their orthopedic injuries could give clues on to how they survived the impact
It’s either the fall being damped by something which is more or less lucky (like trees, hay etc.) or using your limbs like crush cores (look at skiers falling from great heights)
I started training (lifting weights) 25 years ago and the best thing that ever happened to me was my roommate was a drug dealer, he sold steroids. I was going to buy my gear from him, but once he saw how serious I was about purchasing from him, he gave me a long lecture on the dangers and how stupid he thought it would be for me to use it. Needless to say, he changed my mind and I'm so thankful I never used it. The ironic thing is over time, people accused me of being on steroids because of my size and shape.
First of all: wonderful explanation. Thank you. About Sam Sulek: it's a question of time. After 40, your body starts telling you things you don't want to hear, or, more precisely, feel.
Sports Illustrated did a survey back in the 70s. They asked athletes if they would take PEDs knowing it would put them at the very top of their sport for 10 years and then they would die. A huge number said they would take that deal.
I want a study asking men on their death bed due to PED use if they still think it was worth it. My guess is the numbers would tell an interesting story when compared with the study you've referenced.
@@shredandspin A man on his deathbed has lived to see the results of his bad choices. In his last hours a man should have the self-awareness to see plenty of regrets. If you still have no regrets even then you are an utterly hopeless fool.

If only more people understood that human behavior is heavily influenced by their environment. You see the same issues with obesity. Just like you can't expect people to live in an obesogenic environment and remain skinny, you can't expect young men to not use PEDs in an environment where there is a focus on how you look. On average of course. Great informative video.
Exactly, him being recognized as much also based on his physique only fuels that effect for him and the people watching. Social Media and Popculture has increased the pressure to look big too
Some bodybuilders last to 40 . The problem to my knowledge is that if you use them whyle growing your heart grow as well , and having a giant heart is just bad.
@@ilgiallo0 absolutely it leads to a stroke in no time. Heart would lose flexibility and the capacity to properly pump the blood into the veins that are already damaged and very narrowed and full of cholesterol.
I mean, sure his died is horrible, but half of Americans do have the same diet as he has but don't do any workout at all. At least he burns the calories he eats compared to many others who are over weight from the get go. America is one of the few western nations where life expectancy is going down. And after all there are still plenty of lifters who go all the way natural and just want to get a little bit better shape but not full on crazy.
That's the key. He's doing it for a sport, NOT for health and wellness. Look at football and basketball players. CTE, bad knees and hips, heart problems... yet they wouldn't trade the fame they got for better health in their later years. Just because someone is an athlete, doesn't mean they live healthy.
Sport at a professional level is pretty much antithetical to good health, and has been for a long time. The problem is: in bodybuilding all that is evaluated is the final outcome. In other sports you can appreciate the game, the technique of someone who lacks the physicality to get to the podium. In bodybuilding all of this is missing - you don't observe and score the techniques the athletes use to get in shape. Also, the standards of performance are set by people who are enchanced. There is no recognition in this field for someone who would like to be all natural. And no money to be made.
Not sports where athletes are best off at low body fat, low weight and high respiratory fitness. Bodybuilding is more like sumo wrestling than any traditional sport.@@M-CH_

As a sociologist, I find it useful to compare the 1990’s pressure on young women to be anorexic to the 2020’s pressure on young men to be as big as possible.
If sociology, psychology weren't such female dominated areas you would have known that this has always happened to men and its only getting worse. Also there is the non getting big aesthetics male pressure that wants low body fat that completly ruins young boys development and adults health and its way bigger than the getting big because pretty much everyone knows that the vast majority of women does not like the bodybuilder body type but the favor a "greek god" like body.
The common idea is that there is no social pressure on men whatsoever since they are the oppressor. I wouldn't recommend saying otherwise in public, especially if you are a sociologist.
I heavily disagree, there isn't much of a pressure. The overwhelming majority of those I know lifting arises mostly as a response to the "body positivity" "healthy at any size" movement. This isn't just speculation, they tell us all the time. Videos encouraging young men to be more physically active and fit all spread this message; "fuck body positivity, be the best you can be." Which ultimately has its origins in the "culture war." Finally, those that I know, who abuse anabolic steroids for this goal, often are suicidal/or expecting death. To them its either: "I use it and die, or I don't and die anyway." Not that I agree with them on that.
To add a further note, I do not see it productive to compare to situations that only have one point of comparison and wildly different causes and origins.
Dr. Chris, You're right on point. Unfortunately, he's young and feels indestructible. I fell in the same trap when I was his age. Hopefully it won't be his demise......
when i first started lifting, as in first week, i was depressed by my squat . it was like 100kg. so i looked up what was respectable. loaded up 140kg on the bar and i did squat it but herniated two of my discs, that was my first squat under a barbell ever. injured myself the rest of my life.
I've been on a fitness journey most of my adult life and i've struggled both mentally and physically with my weight. The most difficult thing about this lifestyle is not the exercise, dieting or even the results. The one thing that many fitness enthusiasts struggle with is accepting the way they look and being happy with their body without constantly comparing yourself to others and feeling inferior.
When Dr Raynor pointed out that baldness is one of the possible side effects, my mind immediately seized on "That's why this guy never takes his cap off!"
I think a lot of young people need to see this video. As a young adult myself the pressure to reach these ever growing standards is immense. Videos from you and other creators you showcased have help guide me to make much better decisions in my life. I'm sure without them I would have made decisions I would regret later in life.
I really don't think thats true as competitive bodybuilding has become less popular over the years. The standards were much higher for most things in the past, people are simply crumbing before they start. When I was younger Step 1. Was finding what your good at Step 2. Realizing don't have to be the best, but must try your best Step 3. Was mastering the process Step 4. Success, and success is easier than ever for those that truly want it. Never before in history could people just come up nevermind how ANYONE can now

Your comments on the long game at 28:00 resonate. He's getting away with his lifting style and PEDs because he's young. He hasn't been seriously injured yet and PED damage hasn't accumulated enough to be noticeable. That explains why his recent chest day video looks atrocious lol. I've been in multiple threads of people defending that "training long length partials only" is an acceptable way to train. Partials are great if you also tax your muscle through full range of motion. If you don't do that, you build muscular instability which ONLY results in injury. SO yeah you can gain more muscle, but then that muscle isn't protecting you from injury. Proper full ROM protects from injury. @@vexx12343

As someone who has gotten into endurance sports in my 40's, I think our fascination with outliers is a species level phenomena. In my 20's I never thought I would fawn over outrageous VO2Max numbers or an FTP through the roof. I think we are drawn to the extreme. It would probably be wise if society started to admire athletic excellence beyond lean muscle mass.
There’s probably a golden ratio of metabolic excellence with high strength to muscular skeletal percentages to flexibility and competency of advanced movements. Idk if there’s even a sport that works like that. No one in bodybuilding seems work be as efficient as world class cyclists.

There was a poll of pro athletes that were asked something to the effect would they shave years off their life if it guaranteed winning and almost 100% said yes. Professional/competitive bodybuilders are athletes.
I remember reading a poll such as this in the late '80s. Around 95% said they'd take the gear even if it took their lives in 5yrs. The article was in an old Muscle Media magazine from memory. They also asked if it was proven that eating mouse poo would guarantee a win in a comp, would they eat it, 100% said that they would eat it.

I think he will end up being ok but time will tell. He seems to have a ton of talent and personality to be successful in this life. Thank you again Dr for not being one of those all-or-nothing Doctors, you made so many valid points about things that wouldn't help anyone anyway, and you were more helpful in being fair and tolerant, understanding of how some people are especially when young. Keep up the great work, I really appreciate you!
Actually a good chunk of us lift as a way to deal with combat related PTSD. Going to a gym and lifting builds resiliance. In fact, the more you perfect your technique, the lower the risk of injury. That plus adequate rest, diet, and understanding your progression in either strength or size training. As I like to say, "lift with your muscle not your ego."
Unfortunately, being informed on the dangers of doing harmful things (that affect them in the long-term) doesn't deter a lot young people from doing them.
One of the reasons antibiotic resistant gonorrhea is spreading like wildfire among young adults. Their brains aren’t fully capable of calculating risk or thinking long term. They want what they want and they want it now, regardless of risks and dangers.
I am 43. I just started working out about 3 months ago. This is not my first time I have worked out. I have been doing it on and on all my life. I will never use any type of steroid. Keep it natural guys. It is never worth the risk.
There is a huge difference between health and fitness. I think someone as muscular as he could fool themselves into thinking that they are very healthy, while he is eating 12 krispy kreme donuts and consuming very high amounts of protein everyday. This will just burn out your vital organs really fast.
What I find interesting is how few people actually care about the health risks in highly dangerous sports like American football but will harp all day long on how dangerous Sam’s PED usage is. I’ve watched football ruin people’s lives from head trauma, yet people are still more than willing to send their sons into that machine.
not to mention steroid use is RAMPANT in football - both college and pro...hell even high schoolers! I had friends on the high school football team in the 1980's that were doing dianabol, test, etc. and its only gotten worse now. I stayed natural my whole life knowing I had no plans on going pro ever and not willing to do it purely for vanity but I also had great genetics anyway being 6'5" and 210 pounds (8% body fat the rest muscle from working out) at 17 years old. I could do like 24 pullups no cheating at all - motion all the way down fully extended arms, etc. could never do squats or deadlifts though because I had scoliosis. anyhoo I digress.
Don’t change the topic, in this case it’s more dangerous, It’s promoting ped to more people directly and indirectly to achieve their goal physically, long term not good youth has a regenerative advantage at that moment but when they grow up it’s gonna change
and yet there people out there judges people that JUST started working to hard. like "want to be healthy or not? make up your damn minds." like really. and even if no one's taking drugs and not taking powder. still act like those people are unhealthy. is almost as if those people are stopping people from going into gyms. because most of use are only just want to be in shape like burning off fat. what's so wrong about burning fat? freaking nothing. what's so wrong about making yourself look good, hot or sexy from working out? nothing. we all have reasons to workout. people need to chill and research better.
I'm turning 60 soon. Been lifting since 14 and have never taken anything in my life. I don't look like them but better than most people 10 years younger than me.
TQ DR! Holistic approach!!! Those who wanna look good (with visible abs and pecs) try the following: 1) Eat properly (whole food, proper macronutrients) 2) Do meal prep 3) Do HIIT 4) Do Intermittent Fasting 5) Train with moderate weight + Proper form If you do the above 5 properly and persisted for at least a month. Let the magic take place! ***The above 5 is the "PED" am using and have compressed my 9 years of wall banging and no result into year round 6-packer ****PS: I don't take whey nor any BBuilding supplement not even preworkout
I think Sam Sulek has a lot to offer, but everyone who watches him needs to understand what their goals are. I'm still pretty new to my fitness journey, but I don't see PEDs anywhere in my future since improving my health is the reason I started. I do however, think Sam's serious, yet laid back attitude is healthy for the industry. He comes off as a kind, welcoming dude, and gym culture needs as much of that positvity as possible.
Who in the fitness world have you come across that is overwhelmingly negative? Most I’ve seen are very positive people, RP, Athlean, Nippard, these are people who are pretty popular but I’ve never seen them once say anything negative. I really have no idea about Sulek and have zero against him personally I just don’t understand the argument, who are you listening to? I mostly follow fitness pages that bring value to me via learning and some nuance so I’m probably not following the “cool” guys who are supposedly negative.
Unfortunately he has nothing to offer. Especially when his viewers are not only adults, but young adults who think looking this way is healthy and cool. Fact is he’s on a ton of juice and young adults will see this as ok, or risky but they will do it anyway because they’re young and think it’ll be fine. Until it isn’t. The fitness guys on juice are terrible for the community.
Bodybuilding is an extreme sport. I was using AAS while competitive, the diet is strict the lifestyle is strict it can be lonely and you will suffer as long as you accept that and plan accordingly you can have success. But dont think you are walking away at the end of it unharmed. It will have an effect on your body.
I am glad you are bringing this up, lots of these other influencers especially who do workouts don’t mention the bad habits or even bother reaching out to convince him to change what’s he doing to get better. They make so many excuse of genetics to him being an athlete….from swimming. Don’t forget there were multiple pics of him in his younger age not looking what he is now. Least Sam gets some credit for not going on daily basis to workout or spending long time in the gym. Hopefully he gets the help soon and change every bad habit he’s been doing to stop the constant use of steroid/ped usage since he isn’t doing any actual bodybuilding competitions.
yeah that's what's really annoying about those bodybuilder influencers. mostly that one youtuber that judges to fast when it comes to bodybuilders that are "to huge" to him or "the way the muscles look". I think his name is Greg? it was on the video the dude I'm talking about right now. like holy shit he's just as bad as those vegans that goes 100% plant and thinking that's the most healthiest way of life. while in fact plant and meat is more balanced and much healthier. like greg chill. XD
Pretty much everyone I know who has used steroids has gone through depression, low self esteem and embarrassment when they aren't on steroids. Some of my friends have committed suicide too, on the outside they were strong as bulls, but whats rarely spoken about is how dangerous steroids can be to mental health.
I have a friend who uses PEDs. I'm always fascinated how they can say, "That's bad for your body" when I mention something unhealthy I'm about to eat 😂 Pot calling the kettle black!
Addiction is a hell of a thing. It can completely blind logic and make the addicts take this weird ass holier than thou attitude. “I drank vanilla extract to get drunk but at least I’m not a pot head”
I'm still waiting to see moderate steroid use destroy someone's life or health. We're finding that obscene dosages are definitely detrimental, however the lower dosages to those who hyper respond seem to have no real negative effect besides hair loss and some ance. Blood tests, cardiology testing and lipid/ cholesterol testing has shown little to no negative effect on quality and length of life thus far. Still waiting on studies to show negative effects of low dosages and moderate usage
Has more of a head on his shoulders than I thought. Honestly makes it all the more tragic when they're intelligent and self aware like that. But as you said it's up to Sam to determine the value of what he's doing not me. I just think of the aftermath and shortened life and the loved ones who have to deal with the consequences.
Was an cardiac ICU RN few years back. I remember seeing this late 30 year old with heart failure (dilated cardiomyopathy) to the point where he needed a transplant due to the steroid abuse (his EF was 5%). He died.
I came across this guy on Instagram whose entire account is dedicated to glorifying taking steroids and half of his videos are him talking about how cool it is as he preps the needle and gives himself his injections. This kind of stuff has gotten out of control. Sam seems like a good guy which is why I think so many people are so concerned about his health.

Hey Dr. Chris... Great video! This request isn't related to this particular video. You already expertly covered Kentucky Ballistics' catastrophic injuries from an Ortho's perspective. Next can you do another one on the recent Ballistic High-Speed RPG injury incident? Scott, and now Adam are both card carrying lifetime members of the "Catastrophic Weapons Injury Survival Club". And we are all very thankful that both men survived such awful injuries, and can continue providing awesome content!
Hey doc! Great video. Somewhere in the video, they talk about doing squats after a warmup and that it's bad for the joints. Everywhere I look people seem to recommend starting with squats - what advice should I follow? I'm confused. Cheers
Great review. Sometimes when someone gets famous there’s a sense of responsibility the way you carry yourself and what you do because fans will try to mimic you. Roids got Arnold famous because his body ended up being one of the best looking and wanted, it also got him movie deals and eventually becoming the Governor, all because steroids gave him that edge, the same way Jlo got famous off of her booty, facts! So people may think it’s worth it and so many doors can open for them and will risk the door of an early death is worth the risk.
I don't know much about Sam. I hope he is checking with a Doctor regularly so nothing comes up and he has something bad happen. Personally, I have been put on Steroids twice in my life both times I have had side effects. The last time I was put on Steroids was when I got Covid. It happened very early in the pandemic. At the time, I was 49, and I weighed 165. I was on them for 10 days. On the 9th day, I went to my doctor. I had put on 20 pounds of muscle, but my heart and blood pressure were okay. He took me off immediately, and now, at 52, I am at 175 I still have most of the muscle. But I remember I was told under no circumstances was I to take a specific type of Vaccine for COVID-19. I see my Doctor twice a year. He is a Cardiologist, and I get a full check-up to make sure I am okay.
You deserve a lot of respect for following your doctor's advice and advocating for others to do the same! It's not easy for a lot of people to access proper medical care, but it's always so important to prioritize doing so... Medications, supplements, and even vaccines can affect everyone differently, and only a trained doctor who knows a person's full medical history can determine what is best for that person.
@@kristena5825 thank you I try my best to stay off medications but that doesn’t always happen. I trust my doctor he has been my doctor since 2002 so we have a very good relationship
I train for health, I thought about trt years ago, but after a lot of delving into the info available, (thanks internet) I found the routines to make me my best self. The money I could spend on androgens, I spend on the healthy food to build. Now im 38 and I look 25, and thanks to some local lgbt friends, my skkn care keeps me amazing looking.
The major side effect of PED in teensgers is a lack of testicles development, so they will loose a time window (puberty) to increase the gonads, after that time, on adult life, the Lh and Fsh levels will not be like in puberty, nomore.
Refreshing take, most people absolutely shit on Sam and a lot of other bodybuilders for just being themselves. If someone wants to take PEDs nothings really gonna stop them.
When we talk about anabolic steroids, no one ever speaks about the positive aspects of them. I've had several back surgeries....my last back surgery was a L4/L5 fusion. I took a test/deca/dbol cycle during the recovery....small doses, and took my recovery time from 2 months to 3 weeks. They truly can be a miracle drug.
There is this increasing pressure to mold oneself to extremes, whether good or bad for social media virality and success. When regular jobs pay like shit it becomes increasingly more tempting to become an influencer. In this case, Sam’s hard work and PED usage resulted in a rare and extraordinary physique. When leveraged correctly becomes his livelihood and business. His body becomes a product that he can market and sell (merch, supplements, etc.). Therefore it becomes a very attractive route to take a shortcut (PEDs) to fame and success. It comes at a cost but the success is worth it(?)
I agree with your deeper analysis. Short clips make him seem like a dumb meathead, however, if you watch his full daily workout videos for a few days worth, it becomes clear that he is smart, very meticulous (almost OCD), and disciplined. And on top of all this, he is going to school for engineering - not an easy degree. Some undergraduate degrees (like mine in criminology/psychology) I didn't even have to go to class, except for the tests, to do well.

I have come to the conclusion that we are not the same organisms we were 200 years ago. With all of this Science and Technology we have been able to Reshape our bodies into different forms Our ancestors could not even dream up.
Thank you as always Doc for giving us an educational and entertaining experience!
Blood pressure down
Joint pain gone
Happiness up
Doing the same. Going for tendon and type 2 fiber development. Trying to avoid useless mass - faster and sturdier that way.
Thats why now I just do pull ups, push ups and some form of squats.
I started doing 30 minutes cardio before lifting. I feel 5 years younger and its only been 3 weeks
Have you never even simply tried a blood pressure monitor? before your stent at 33? I'm honestly just curious.
@@ivanmate6341 I never had it checked. I abused my body and assumed youth was on my side. I honestly believe if I was older, I’d be dead. Now, I do own a blood pressure monitor and I used to check once every day, but have now cut down to 3 times a week as my health has vastly improved since.

If you think that way, you will live in a way that ensures that outcome.
Was he using gear the entire time or was it the cause of his earlier years of use?
@@richardstheman1 good question. That statement needs allot more context. Was he on steroids for decades? Years? One year? Did he take any precautions/ what was his diet etc. there’s old school bodybuilders in their 80s doing just fine and you know they were on large doses. So definitely need more context.
It sounds to me like your friend did not plan to live into his 50s and was quite happy to go at 51. That is a life lived to his fullest and you should stop telling people that dying "early" is bad.

I love looking at pictures of natty body builders (men and women) in the 1940’s and 50’s such as interesting time to be a body builder.

So what?
Every single professional athlete uses PED's... and the ones that don't use PED's are lying. Make sure you tell your son that as well.

Sports Illustrated did a survey back in the 70s. They asked athletes if they would take PEDs knowing it would put them at the very top of their sport for 10 years and then they would die. A huge number said they would take that deal.

On average of course.

And no money to be made.

not necessarily people have different responses to steroids depending on genetics and only god knows when someone is going to die.@@Breeado
Excellent work doctor. You gave a great non judgmental assessment that I hope many young people (and older) consider about their goals and health!
As a sociologist, I find it useful to compare the 1990’s pressure on young women to be anorexic to the 2020’s pressure on young men to be as big as possible.
There was no pressure on young women to be anorexic and there is no pressure for males to be as big as possible. It's all make believe.
Dr. Chris,
You're right on point.

The people that do them just pop them and then go workout , they get addicted to the gains
they only become experts on dosage, dosage schedules, what roids to stack after they get addicted

Experience will really help you start to pull it all together. Then Keep learning. And start watching blood work and health markers and getting in good eating habits, training and supplementation regiments BEFORE going enhanced, so you're already im these good habits before you start. I think Sam is definitely going too hard too young. Also, there are exactly zero people who believe that Sam Sulek is natty, including his mom.
Nice mom 😊
i knew a natty guy that no one would beleive is natty. like 0/100000 people. genetic freaks do exist.

Subtitles are important, when the volume can't be turned up ❤❤thanks doc
You deserve a million subs best channel on RUclips for exercises and health …..love your channel…
100% agree, Dr. Chris rocks!
I'd love to hear Sam's perspective on this.
Very well explained video, nice work Dr!
Excellent video. Your deep research into this was impressive!
great video.. if only people would take notice...
Sam seems like a good guy which is why I think so many people are so concerned about his health.
whose account is dedicated to glorifying taking steroids?
@@sw1tch921 his name is Stoffer, he has about 100k followers

Hey Dr.
Cheers
They specified HEAVY squats. Starting with body weight and working up to the heavy stuff is better
An inspired multi-faceted perspective. Very well put together! 🧠👍 @ChrisRaynorMD
Absolutely Fantastic Presentation Dr, You're Fabulous.
Happy New Year 2024 🖖🏻
I don't know much about Sam.
We need a video about the health risks of buttoning up Polos to the top button.
The Upside outweighs the dangers involved
LOL, yeah we do
I train for health, I thought about trt years ago, but after a lot of delving into the info available, (thanks internet) I found the routines to make me my best self.
Gran comunicador... gran trabajo
That's because it's a totally different context, also those effects are how they work it's the main advantage for bodybuilding
@nicholascanada3123 oh I understand that....but no one ever talks about what these drugs are actually designed to do.
Why would they? Taking steroids for medical purposes isnt an issue that needs to be addressed.
@@amanormaybeadragon because 99% of people don't even know there is an actual legitimate medical use for them.
Cope harder
RE: Bodybuilder in video.
It's not inflammation. LOL. It's the beginning of breast growth.
Disciplined? have you seen the trash he eats.
