  • Dutch Pour acrylic pouring technique with paint and water only!
    This is tutorial for acrylic painting.The recipe for the paint was 1 part paint and 1 part water. The Powder Blue was a Level 2 Liquitex paint and I had to add a bit more water to match the other paint's consistency.
    Canvas size: 12x24inches or 30x60cm each canvas
    Colors used were Peyne's Grey, Light Blue Violet, Powder Blue and Gold from Liquitex Basics and White Flow Acrylic from Artist's Loft used on the background.
    I hope you enjoyed this video, and let me know your questions or comments below.

  • @sophiaholzer7842
    @sophiaholzer7842 2 года назад

    oh my goodness this is absolutely stunning!!!! so soft and smooth in its movement! Thank you for showing this process so detailed, I learned that I need to use less colors as the middle part and more white around so whenever I blow it out, the color is able to move further (mine always look so ashy and dirty - I think it might be because I dont use enough white around?)
    One question: how do you manage that the bubbles only show after you blow the color out?? it looks SO amazing!

    • @SophisticatedArtisan
      @SophisticatedArtisan  2 года назад

      Hi Sophia, this is all due to the white paint vc the color paint consistency, meaning the bubbles are more prominent if your base coat is slightly more liquid than the colors. I hope this helps!

    Danggggg.... that is probably one of the best triptychs using a Dutch Pour that I have EVER seen! The fact that you use just water is so exciting to me because I’ve just thrown out my 2nd huge lot paints that I’ve premixed with rotten Floetrol! I’m not buying that junk anymore and really sooooo happy to see your gorgeous results, cells and all, with plain water! Thank you 🙏🏻 🥰😃😃

    • @SophisticatedArtisan
      @SophisticatedArtisan  3 года назад

      Oh wow, Thank you so much Linda! 😃
      I had the same problem with Floetrol. This summer I bought 3 gallons and left in my garage for maybe 3 weeks and they spoiled... oh that smell is awful and I need to find out how to discard it.
      The paint and water mix works super well and results in gorgeous cells too! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 😃

    hello, I belive Artis Loft flow acrylic used on the background is perfect for create the beatiful cells, but another brand of paint can be used that is equally effective ? Liquitex, Amsterdam. thank you very much.

    Hello there, Im super new here, Where do you buy your paint and what brand is your favorite... ? thank you . Beautiful work. Im hooked.

    • @SophisticatedArtisan
      @SophisticatedArtisan  3 года назад +1

      Hi Claudia, welcome! My favorite paint brands are Arteza and Liquitex, but I usually use Liquitex because it’s more affordable as we use a lot of paint on acrylic Pouring. Sometimes I use Artist’s Loft (AL) brand if there’s a specific color I can’t find with Liquitex, for example Old Gold, but I avoid AL brand because it’s more liquid and you end up using more paint on the mixture than other brands. The exception is the AL Flow Acrylic paint that is wonderful to use as background paint for Dutch Pours.
      I usually buy my paint at Michael’s and I always try to use coupons and check Liquitex and Amazon website to compare pricing. For the colors I use the most I buy 32oz size paint, usually from Amazon, but note their price will fluctuate a lot day to day, so in US a good price I think is mid-low $20’s. I hope this was helpful, let me know if I can help you with anything else! Thank you for finding my channel 😊

    • @SophisticatedArtisan
      @SophisticatedArtisan  3 года назад

      It really depends on the design and texture I’m after. I think my favorite is paint and water only, but if it’s a large painting I usually chose to add floetrol because of the amount of paint used. What about you? Thank you for watching 😃
