I do agree. I have one , and love. Easy to use. Works perfect. I want two more. The 5500_2 easy to clean and wash. Just replace the filter. Love 100 percent. 💯
How does it work for smoke removal? Me and my girlfriend dab in a specific room but the smell still travels to other areas of the house, hoping to at least reduce that.
It can be turned off. There's a button below the blue light of the Plasma indicator, and that turns it off. It also is automatically off when the machine is set to 'sleep' or 'auto' mode. Now, as to what it is..... I don't know. I read about ions and I had some chemistry classes.... I can smell and almost 'taste' something in the air with them on (if I think about it). Something reminds me of the air after a rain. So I like it, but then again, it might be my imagination. But I don't think it does anything to the cleanliness of the air.
Plasmawave is some sort of wonky implementation of ozone generation inside of the unit. The function of an ionizer is to cause the particulates in the air to stick together (by positively charging them) and to attach to things like the filter medium rather than merrily passing through and out the exhaust port. This air purifier passed the CARB test, so it only emits a very very small trace of ozone (or ionized particles which escape the housing), undetectible with the sort of air quality sensor that normies can afford. Still, some people are highly sensitive to ozone. Ozone is highly reactive, and yes that has the smell of the air after a heavy rain shower, and more strongly after a lightning storm. People with multiple chemical sensitivity or severely impaired lung function will want to turn the Plasmawave feature off.
Like mine, lots. Two wash/rinse filters and one you can/should order/ replace once a year. Actually I just brushed the one your suppose to buy. Seriously, it looked clean.
i have to walk about 10 feet from my fromt door to get to my room as i dont smoke in my room i smoke outside but the smell will follow me on the way in, if i put purifier in my room will it clean the air from the front door aswell? or just my room because the walls are blocking and the door? or do i have to buy one for my room and one for the hallway before the room aswell?
I've found if I blow right into the vents no smoke comes out that can be seen, and if my wife comes in and I ask if she can smell it, she says she can't. Might be best to test it with a 4230-friendly friend before putting everything on the line though.
While in Auto Mode, if you turn the Plasmawave off, at any point with Auto Mode or going into sleep mode will the plasmawave turn back on by itself? or will it stay off until you manually turn it back on?
Awwww, thanks!.... he was always one of my favorite music artists. It always seemed he'd be a great neighbor and friend. We have a Pirate's Cove here.... I had to pull that song up when I saw this comment. 😎
I've been looking at the Winix 5500-2, this is for a small room 9x10 and getting rid of cigarette odor "I smoke 5 to 10 cigarettes a day" can you possibly let me know if this will keep my room odor 'gases' free, I found the price reasonable and with the charcoal filter + Hepa should do the trick your input would much appreciated..Thanks
This model has charcoal pellets which has a lot more surface area than fiber coated in charcoal. So that means more capacity. This is the best model for the price for this.
I think with that small of use it'd keep odors down for sure. When we got ours, the next day a neighbor came by to visit and the first thing he said was (wow, it smells good in here!".... the dog smell was gone! Then a few days later at sundown the sun was coming through the slats in the window and I realized that I could not see the sunbeam anymore that always had dog-dust from outside whirling about. So yes, it's a pretty good machine!
Cleans the air, but it sucks at dust. Horrible at filtering the air. When there been smoke or smell, even lit candles and can clear that out. But it just don’t work on dust in my home.
Yes, I hold mine in the shower and let cool water alone onto it. Then I set it outside in the sun for five hours or so. Then when I replace it, I turn the fan on full for ten minutes or so. It's a REALLYY good machine, well engineered. I wash the charcoal filter every few months. It's supposed to last a year and have a light display when it and the HEPA need replacing. When I got the two last year I bought the extra filter pack... but so far, in 9 months of use I've not had the filter display yet. I wash the front washable filter every couple of weeks. The bottom of them shows a little hair from the dog. They are good units. I have the two, so when doing the charcoal filters, I do one one day, the other the next.
If you put it on 'high' speed, and take the front cover off and exhale into the pre-screen, it'll take it right up.... leave it on high for a bit to catch any lingering odor. It is really effective.
@@ayalaa4744 always keep your parents wishes in mind. They want the best for you... and I recommend no cannabis for people while their brains are still developing...
My wife left me for an air purifier. I replaced her with a humidifier...it caught fire tho. been a bad year. they can give 2028 back to the indians as far as i'm concerned.
Those sound effects were on point lol. They are hilarious

The charcoal filter is washable. Love this . You only have to buy the filter next to the fan blade.
Doubt... If it's a real active charcoal, it needs to be replaced. Just this points points me to the fact that this statement is BS
washing it only rids dirt/ debris which will extend the life a bit longer but it will definitely need to be replaced
Well no one said it would rejuvenate the carbon filter lol@@yurydoroshenko3922

Thanks for review, what exactly is the plasma setting is it like ionic and can you turn it off

Thank you for details . This was great.
Glad you enjoyed it! They are the most awesome filters!
And also does the filter that comes with it work with weed or do you have to get a special one
I’m building a grow room possibly and looking for a vent system to hide smells would this work
I don't think it'd work as well as the big canisters that are sold, but it might do OK.
If I roll or smoke in front of this will it smell while smoking like will the smell leak from the room?
I've found if I blow right into the vents no smoke comes out that can be seen, and if my wife comes in and I ask if she can smell it, she says she can't.

You mean a non 420 friend to try and test it
I got a 2 bedroom apartment with people living above me who don't smoke plus one to the side if I buy 3 could I smoke all-day in my apartment 😊

It turns back if you unplug power and plug it back in, only way for it to come back on apart from the button.
Great video. Has anyone told you that you sound like Tom Petty of the heat breakers?

This is a good air cleaner. I have one in the Man Cave, Bedroom, Grow Room, and ex-wife's powder room.
If you smoke in a room, realistically how long does it smell for running this? A couple of hours?
@@DEPUTYGETSOME I leave mine running 24/7.

It doesn’t have suction
So it doesn't work for weed smoke?
True... it has 'flow'... it's not a vacuum cleaner! LOL😜
I think it does..... no one knows I smoke! Ooops.... I done spilt the beans!
Is that Tom Petty? Sure sounds just like him!
