    Commercial air scrubbers are superior to all of these and the MERV, HEPA and charcoal filters are much cheaper. Air scrubbers are used in construction and mold remediation; basically a plastic box with a high power fan, 3 filters and maybe UV light. There's one major brand, but of course the Chinese copies are 1/3 the cost ($279) They have adjustable speeds and are not as cool-looking but for allergy sufferers are a game changer.

    The key is not just filtering gases or solids but the ability to filter viruses. Curious what the smallest particles that can be filtered by each machine. The fact a filter can filter out particulates but lets viruses through makes it less effective or mostly useless. Give me a filter that is able to remove viruses but slower any time. I would choose better filter over a filter that is fast but lets viruses through.

      Buy a commercial Air Scrubber. You can install whatever filter you need, MERV 14, HEPA, Charcoal. The draw of the fan is vastly superior to anything marketed as a Purifier. They are not whisper quiet, and only need be run to clean the air in a room while your away, or at night on low speed.

  • @JER9279
    @JER9279 5 месяцев назад +6

    I personally have had the levoit which I sent back because it is not a true hepa filter which is a big miss on your part as a reviewer. Levoit removed true hepa advertising off the box and their website on certain models but yet at the time they were still using false advertising on Amazon about the 300 being true hepa. Next I bought the air doctor which did purify very well just as your review showed but compared to the Dyson you will spend a lot more on filter replacements and the app is trash. You hit a button on the app and it just loads and loads before you can change a setting. The design on the 3500i which I had is dated also and my wife didn’t like it. So therefore I sent it back as well. Then I bought the exact same
    Dyson you just reviewed and have been very impressed. My first critique of your review is you didn’t show the sound of the Dyson on low or auto. This thing is stupid quiet. Even my wife had to ask me if it was on. Another thing you didn’t mention is that the Dyson is the only machine that projects the filtered air across the room which allows the air to be filtered more effectively. The others just shoot is straight up into the air above the machine. You can also change the degree angle of the air just in case you don’t want it blowing right on you. The Dyson also specifically monitors formaldehyde and destroys it as it’s filtered. And it doesn’t really matter how fast it clears the air when you leave it running all the time anyways. The difference between the machines was negligible. And finally you didn’t mention that the Dyson app is really good and you can use voice assistants and the filter change for the hepa is every 5 years and the carbon filter is every 2 years. And you did the test on the Dyson wrong because they clearly say that the Dyson needs to be at least 3.5 ft from the wall. You need a bigger tent. Also as an added note you should have included the breath smart by Alen Air. I hear that is also an excellent system. Hope this helps!

    Your experiment only tests the ability of taking out fog from the air. That is not what air purifiers are designed for. A dehydration device would do the trick also and doesn´t claim to purify the air what in fact it does not. A "smoke" machine produces fog and not smoke. So all you tested was the ability to dehydrate your box and all the comparisons of your devices tested are useless. Next time use real smoke, so at least the filters can show if they are capable of retaining particles.

    The testing methodology is all wacked out. For instance the flow dynamics of using a tiny enclosure would actually benefit certain sizes and designs, vs others. As the disturbance to the airflow could actually slow down the cleaning ability by recirculating the dirty air more, preventing it from being sucked into the device. Also, no mention of how long the smoke machine was ran before each test. Was it the same time, or just until visually the tent was full? I get the attempt at proper testing, but I don't think this was well thought out. Shoulda just picked a decent sized room in the house/apt and used that, for an actual real world acccurate and repetitive testing.
