If me or my wife farts bad enough, I have automation via methane and sound recognition to flash all LIFX lights red for 5 secs. as a warning, the blower fan turns on for 5 minutes to circulate air. More of a novelty.
I’m from STL, and there’s a local business owner that makes Posie Pots. She’s a Boeing engineer, and figured out how to make plant pots that keep excess water for when the plants need it. Get Aly one for Christmas!
I'd really like to see an indepth video on the Sofa Baton. I've been looking for something to replace the Logitech Harmony stuff and I just haven't found much that can touch it.
Yes, I would love it if you do an episode on your remote or possibly one about 3-D printing and building your own remote. Thank you for all you do for us and the time you invest in your channel.!!!!!!
Wow I feel special in that I had something before Reed did! :) I picked up a couple of the ThirdReality night lights a little while ago, and I think they're a great addition to a HomeAssistant setup. At night time, tying them in with the bed presence sensors built into our bed (SleepNumber) I can have these kick on if we get out of bed while it's overnight and dark to light the way. During the daytime, I use them as a visual indicator of activity over at my elderly mother's home through a slightly more sophisticated HA -> HA webhook setup. If Mom is up and moving around, the light in our house goes on green so that we can see that she's active and not laying in bed. Added bonus - as you said, they're a Zigbee repeater so it can help your mesh network too. All in all, price/value ratio is solid on that one.
Wow thanks for this video! Super informative and actually inspirational. Now I have a few home automation projects I can work on. Really exciting stuff!
I got a starter kit for phillips hue. Had the hub and 4 bulbs. That was my first purchase and I got it on a super good sale. It was a blessing and a curse. Those have been super solid and not a single issue. It also made me realize how good they are and how expensive they are.
How did I not know about the Bond device? I have a ceiling fan I bought over 25 years ago - it was expensive when I bought it, so did not want to just replace it. However, it irks me that my voice assistant cannot control it. Ordered one - super excited. (Now, watch the fan die on me...)
Thanks. Got a few Philips sensors. Waiting on Inovelli presence switches but delayed to March 2025. Did not want to worry about plugging in anything like the Aqara presence sensors and your video reminded me of the Philips sensor I had at my old house. Also, plurged and got 3 of the mats. Been wanting to play with pressure sensors and seemed like a good choice as I did not want to "roll" my own ;)
Have you heard about the new update for the Aqara U300? It allows you to change the auto lock timing or completely disable it. It's a beta update though. I updated mines and disabled auto lock altogether. Now all my automations run through Home Assistant. I created new auto lock timers and schedules for them that I can enable and disable when I want.
+1 for sofa baton video! I’ve been using Logitech Harmony for a while but am looking for an alternative, especially one that integrates well with Home Assistant.
The problem with the Roborock vacuum is it uses dust bags. I have the Roborock S7+ with a dust bin that is bag less. I would upgrade but do not want the extra maintenance to change dust bags and search online to buy
Hey Reed, great video! I have the TrampleTek Blue mats, and they ARE amazing and great customer service! Out of curiosity, why do you need RATGDO and the Meross device? I have the RATGDO and love it.

I found two used (but cleaned, refurbished and wiped) Surface Pro tablets for just over a hundred bucks each, they're becoming my HA dashboards. Browser in kiosk mode, boom.
It's honestly infuriating how good the Hue motion sensora are. I got a couple of them early on in my home automation adventure, and even now that I'm on Home Assistant and using devices from dozens of brands, the Hue motion sensors have been more reliable than anything. I wish they were cheaper!

I have been unable to get HomeAssistant to work well for me, especially the automation. But I need some help with the EP32 and the Msr-2, a fantastic device. the power interface options that they offer are really great. Can you direct me to a GREAT Tutorial on all aspects of HomeAssistant? I'm running out of brain. I am also considering the Hubitat but that is for a different discussion.

But for those shouldn’t there be like something happening and then it goes off like maybe like a 10 second delay or just beeps and then if you don’t cancel the alarm within that time it’ll go off 2:38
Do any of the smart locks support type of doors where you need to first raise the door-handle to engage the multi-point lock system? Such doors are relatively common in Europe - and it's same stuff (mushroom shaped pins that slide to lock the opening in multiple points) as European windows that seems to have spread to US too (especially PVC windows). Except for doors you can then use key to really lock the door. If it's not locked with a key - well anyone from the outside can simply push door handle down to disengage the multi point lock system.
