It's quite incredible how those four notes at the beginning can sound so different just by leaving the odd one out, or playing them twice. Great video, thank you.

I like the sound of this lower frequency kalima. While I understand the explanation, I don't think I could follow it. I can only enjoy the music, which is the main reason why I have subscribed to your channel.

NEED HELP HERE! Can any kalimba players aswer me?
I recently find out about the kalimba, instantly fell in love with it and immediately started to read on how to start learning the instrument. But one of my friends completely discouraged me by telling me that it doesn't have enough literature and only has a few songs ang videos to hepl me. I don’t know how to play on any other instrument, so I’m afraid, that I wont be able to play the kalimba either. My question is, how hard is to learn the kalimba without any experience? Is that even possible? I don’t have any teacher in my town who can play the kalimba, so can I learn it alone just from books and videos? What are your experience?

Emma - I taught myself. Admittedly, I've been playing for over 30 years now. But I remember many years of great adventure, without anyone to help. I just made it up. BUT now I make up kalimba books. Each type of kalimba needs its own music, so I have been very busy writing dozens of books and downloads! You can find my books here: www.kalimbamagic.com/books and instructional downloads here: www.kalimbamagic.com/download

Hey - and if you LOVE something, don't let anyone tell you not to do it. Of course you can do it! (Well, that opinion from someone who would sell you a kalimba book and has been playing for 30+ years - but really, the kalimba has been the best trip of my life - it may not be your thing, but it may totally be your thing. Jump in and find out.)

Yes, I've been reading your website, it's quite amazing. I think I want to buy the KALIMBA MAGIC 17-NOTE HEART KALIMBA from your website but I still don't know if I'll be able to learn it, this is why I asked how hard it is.

@@emmat.3562 I really don't think it's that hard. Even if you didn't play any instruments before. I learned the Kalimba through improvisation with chords. I have to admit that I play drums and piano though.

Emma - Since you posted here, I have written four instructional downloads and one hard copy book for the 17 Note Heart Kalimba - you can find them all here:
