My uncle works in the police force in Libya and I showed him your Libya series. Once Upon a Time it was just half hour flight from tripoli to roma but your governments stop giving visa to libyans and close air space to libyan planes
It's so easy today for young people to travel around the world. It wasn't like this when I was young, but I was also very adventures. So when I got married in 1961 my husband was offered a job with the American Air Force in Turkey. We moved to Adana and my husband worked at Incirlik Air Base. From there we made many trips around Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. Once we flew home to our country Germany to buy a car and drive it to Adana. That trip was an adventure in itself, because we had to drive through many backwards countries, like Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Turkey. In Turkey at that time you could not even buy a car. After Turkey my husband was offered a job at Wheelus Air Base Tripoli. We moved there in 1966 and I also could work on Base, which I couldn't do in Turkey, because the Turkish government denied the spouses a work permit. We had a wonderful time in Libya. Tripoli was so beautiful and the people there so friendly. We wanted to stay forever, but things changed, as everybody know the American Air Base was closed in 1970 and the Libyan Air Force took over. We stayed until 1972, because the Libyans asked my husband if he would train their personnel. We returned to our home country with two small sons, who were born during our time in Tripoli. After 5 years in Germany we wanted to see more of the world, so my husband found employment with a German company in Lagos Nigeria. This country was a completely new experience. From there we were able to make many trips to USA and Canada. In 1987 we moved to Australia. were we still live. We were able to travel due to seeking work in foreign countries. Now I am 80 year old and reminisce about all these places I've been, but my heart belongs to Tripoli.
@@amaryllislady8795 That's incredible! Were you able to make any trips to neighboring Tunisia back in the day? Tunisia was thriving back in the late 60s especially the tourism and society scene.
@@ThePunisher014 Yes it was possible. You needed a Re-entry Visa to leave Libya and come back in. There were many German Tourists in Tunisia at that time. Many people form the Air Base drove to Egypt by car. We didn't, because it was dangerous (road accidents). We had little children.
In all of these war torn countries, we often forget the people living there who really have nothing to do with the conflict. Northern Africa and the Middle East have a very rich history and wonderful people, but it’s often overshadowed by conflict.
Dear Madam, I respect you, but the main reason for destroying my beautiful country, Libya, killing the good and beautiful Libyan people, and forcibly displacing the Libyan people to Egypt, Tunisia and other countries, is the intervention of NATO, Europe, America, Qatar and Turkey in the internal Libyan affairs. They justified their barbaric intervention with pretexts, false and fabricated arguments and forged papers, as they did with Iraq when they said that Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction, and after that this was not proven with conclusive evidence to this day. Qatar and Turkey played a major role in supporting the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda and The criminal case has been in Libya since 2011, and Qatar and Turkey have exploited Security Council resolutions to send and plant criminals and terrorists who collected them from all countries of the world and purposely placed them in Libya so that they can destroy it more than it is now.
@@maxipwr8559 I think that the issues with Libya began long before 2001. I am not defending our interventions. The thing I have learned is that as a U.S. citizen, the government does not share information with it’s citizens-it doesn’t matter who the president is. I do hope for continued peace in Northern Africa.
@@MrsBilla-nu8qb Thank you very much and my respect to you and to all the wonderful American people of all stripes, it is always the politicians and the rulers who cause problems and keep peoples away from each other and prevent them from rapprochement with each other for political and even economic reasons instead of having a public benefit and material and social gains and economic relations between countries and their peoples. We, the Libyans, have for many years wished that there would be good relations with the United States of America in all medical, industrial and economic fields, and that our relationship with the American people themselves would be very good. We have never hated the American people and we still love And we respect the American people, but we hate those who are in power, in the White House, and in the American intelligence only, without others in the United States of America, because they succeeded in a very big way in keeping the Libyan and American people away from each other, as the previous regime in Libya did during the days of Colonel Muammar’s rule. Gaddafi, may God have mercy on him, and they were not given any opportunity for a democratic dialogue between the Libyan and American people. Thank you very much once again. I hope that true and comprehensive peace will return completely to Libya as it was before 2011. And to improve relations between Libya and the United States of America.

WOW!!!! Can I just say, that out of all of the episodes from your channel, I would say that Libya (other than Iran, Kenya, South Africa, Pakistan, Ukraine and alot others) is my most favourite, as there aren't any much complete videos about Libya itself, and so far this one is the best. It is one heck of a gem indeed!! And an achievement too!! But even if you didn't visit all of the other areas in Libya, it's still awesome that you've managed to document the country really well!! So cool indeed!!!! But like as always, awesome series Indigo Traveller!!!! :D

They can take you to many tourist places, very interesting places that deserve to be shared with the outside world to show our culture. God bless you one love bro

I don't say this lightly: You are the best independent traveler on RUclips. I've watched other channels, and none of them top yours in terms quality content. You always examine the Good, the Bad, The Beautiful, The Ugly parts of a country. This amount of nuance makes you an exceptional top tier content creator. I find other content creators more egotistical (Narcissistic) while you focus on encapsulating the beauty of your surroundings and experiences. Keep it up Nick Sincerely, Jason
I hope that your videos on Libya go viral so that many many people in the west and especially the USA can see them. I feel like your videos could be the catalyst needed to open Libya back up to the world. You are the RUclips community's top diplomat.
I agreee. Till now media (msm), politicians, also ngos seems to prefer Libya on the bad level. What is totally not true and real. My heart is in Libya. In the last 10 years I get to know the Libyans. Living, being inside the country and I was never never in danger and felt never unsafe. Yes you have to be aware as Libyan history as still assumptions are there. Outside world is not helping by not naming the responsible people what commited (war) crimes. Only the smaller ones are named (sometimes). This is not helping the country. This is politic for own benefit. Related to migrants. Around a million (or more) migrants are living and working all over Libya. A real small percent is in Libya for a travel to Europe (or else). At my Twitter account Yvonne Snitjer you can find material, videos as earlier this week, you see the centre of Tripoli full with migrants (when else in the city a huge other group is playing football. They do this every free moment)

Thank you and my respect to you. You will find many Roman, Greek, Phoenician and Germanic monuments, and even traces of the ancient man in Libya. You will also find very beautiful beaches with white sand and shiny waters in the ancient city of Sabratha, and a large 4-star tourist resort called Dar Tellil. A Libyan investment in cooperation with a Tunisian tourism company. It is located in the Tallil area of the city of Sabratha, 8 km west of the ancient city of Sabratha, where the most beautiful beach in western Libya is located with a view of the pine forest behind it and the smell of pine trees mixed with the smell of beautiful sea breezes, I hope it will return Peace and security once again to my country, Libya, as it was before 2011, and tourists also return after the security and political situation stabilizes more and more, and a new president is elected next September. We are tired of the civil war and many Libyans are emigrated to Egypt and Tunisia and other countries because of the brutality and barbarism of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group and the armed militias backed by Qatar, Turkey and Britain are the ones who made Libya lag far behind in establishing peace, security, prosperity and economic development that was planned less in 2011.

What an interesting story, thanks for sharing!
What a great experience. You must have lots of stories to tell for your grandchildren 😁
@@uranuuss At present I am writing it all down for the grandchildren.
Northern Africa and the Middle East have a very rich history and wonderful people, but it’s often overshadowed by conflict.
yeah, conflict instigated by your governments miles away from you.
@@acidmana6141 I can’t deny that it is often instigated by my government.

Great Episode! Hearing what Eve had to say about Mitra and her curious and blissful nature brings a light to the hope of a better future. What she said 'enough is enough', it's time for peace again and for good. I love these episodes with such warm conversations with people who are ambitious and striving for an enlightenment, progress, and transcending the present.
Thanks for watching, I also love the interactions with the kind people!
Keep it up Nick
