T y l e e oh woops sorry my previous reply was for another comment. But yeah of course it costs money but hey, just save up a lot and start a business. You can always go back to another job even if the job isn’t good. At least u knew u followed ur dreams
Not sure if someone said so already but you can clean the mats with dish soap and a light cleaning pad... replacing them twice a month is ridiculous! They’re so expensive 😂 I’ve had mine for a year and have cleaned them and it kept them sticky. Thanks so much for sharing a glimpse into your daily Etsy routine!
Ashley Reaume I use Las Totally Fabolous from dollar tree and an old gift card to lightly scrape off the dust and leftovers after it soaks for about two mins. Then rinse it under water and dry it off. I’m going on over a year with the same mats too! I cringed hearing buying mats twice a month! That’s almost $40 wasted in my world!!! 😂
Yes I do this as well! I usually am able to clean it 3 times before the stickiness is not good anymore. The problem more so usually is that my mats start warping from the amount of stickers I cut each week so I have to unfortunately replace them once per month. 🙁
There is a glue that you can tack things over and over again, basically a repositionable glue, I am wondering if that would work on my old mats, I've been wanting to try that for a while.
For packaging for your stickers, you could try glassine bags. It's a type of paper that's translucent but protective and recyclable and would meet a lot of your needs. I came across it because my dad was a stamp collector and it's commonly used for protecting stamps.
Yes, I think Catherine Kay from Katnipp (see RUclips channel, Etsy store, Insta etc from the UK) has started using these also as they are the environmentally responsible option. Not as see through but customers preferred them to plastic. 👌🏼⭐️
@@ninal6339 definitely!! I have an Etsy shop and use zero waste packaging, seem to be doing reasonably well for my market despite my slightly higher prices and I feel like it attracts the best kinds of customers too!
Nina L I get a pack of 50 for 3-4 dollars from Target. Let’s say she can fit one order in each bag, that’s 50 orders, but if she needs more than one bag per order, then I see your point.
I go to Costco to buy printer ink. Instead of paying over $30 for new ink, Costco’s photo center restocks my ink cartridge for like $12. It depends on the printer ink you got though since they only have certain kinds of ink refills.
I love how you utilise the space you've been given to work with. A lot of people think they can't start business because they don't have huge rooms or money to rent out space but clearly thats not necessary!
I know it’s a bit personal... but I’m curious about the financial side of your Etsy shop. I’d love to see your income and how all of that work and information like that.
Misty Windmaker I’m kinda wondering the same. I was wondering if she actually makes money off of it. If she enjoys it though I’m sure it’s fine. She seems to enjoy it.
I can give you breakdown for my shop. Jenny and I have approximately the same number of sales, although our product line up and equipment is slightly different. My specs: I have a professional laser printer, because it's much more economical to purchase toner rather than ink (although she would need an inkjet to print "prints", because an inkjet prints finer detail for art). I run 3 Silhouette machines. Currently, I run 2 Portraits and 1 Cameo. I have a 4th (Cameo) but it's not in the lineup currently. I use Amazon subscriptions to have Mats sent every 2 months, and blades every 3 months. I have a Rollo label printer and buy labels in 500 qty sets (no ink in the Rollo). Amazon is cheapest for toner (I have an HP...I buy the XL toner cartridges, which have ~2000 pages life (about $100 ea, 4 colors). I need toner 3 times a year. I buy sticker paper from Onlinelabels, usually in qty 1000 sheets ($100 ish). I repurchase every 2 months. I purchase my cellophane envelopes and shipping envelopes (cardboard mailers) from Amazon too--cheapest, even compared to wholesale. I buy in qty 200-500, depending on the time of year (right now we're swamped!) Cello are about $6 for a pack of 100, mailers are $25-30 for 200. I have some extras I add for "packaging", white paper slip envelopes (like treat sacks, I use these if there are multiple cello envelopes in an order) 200 for $12. I also add one of a few different Thank You labels that I buy in bulk from Amazon (1000 for about $10--cheaper than I can make them!) Ok so alll of that breaks down to roughly $180 a month in expenses. After Etsy takes their cut, I average a little more than $3000 a month in Etsy payouts. October - February are my busiest months, with May and July-Aug also being good. March-April, June, September are all slow in the sticker biz. You have to adjust, as with any self-employed business owner. Obviously the math doesn't include my time, which is also valuable. It takes a lot of time to run an Etsy shop! I also have to design and do social media, which is neverending. I kind of suck at the social media. Not enough hours in the day! @@mistywindmaker6547 No problem at all! I know when I was starting out it was hard to find ANY info online. People were wary about sharing their "sources" or even how they packed and shipped/where they sourced those supplies etc. I've been a graphic designer for more than 15 years, and my hourly rate is $50. I use that as a general pricing guide for my "time" when pricing sheets (I use a crafting business calculator Excel sheets I found online. I may have even paid $1 or 2 for it). I found that with my expenses the minimum I can charge per sheet is $3 and still make a decent profit (that's running the 3 machines per hour of course). I was originally a digital download shop and brought in roughly $50 a week. It was a nice "play money" side gig (I teach graphic design as my day job in a career & tech high school). I have never replaced my mat on my silhouette and it’s no longer sticky, but i just put a piece a scotch tape on the top and bottom of the paper and it works great. It would save you a ton of money so you don’t have to keep buying new mats. I also have the Epson eco tank 2750. You have literally crafted your life beautifully! ❤️ Love everything about this video - right from your room, your peaceful personality, your craft! 💚💚 Peaceful! 🦋🥰
You should consider sound canceling ear muffs or get some nice sound canceling headphones! Depending on how loud it is, it could affect your hearing in the long term. Before I was a nurse I worked in a factory and wore ear plugs. I was the only one but I’m grateful that I did! Hopefully it saved my hearing a little. I’m already a little hearing impaired so I’m kind of hardcore 😂
I was having a stressful day and this video was very relaxing to watch! You’re stickers are so beautiful and it’s cool to see all that goes into your Etsy shop! :D
Hey just some advice speaking from personal experience, I am too self employed and I work very similarly to you, and I got to say, do some back exercises regularly, even if you have no back pain, because it’s really going to eventually strain your lower spine.
Such a great video! You make beautiful stickers, and your packaging is so wonderful! This is why people purchase from Etsy! Those personal touches are exactly what I look for from shops!
As a small business owner and artist ( I don't sell my art hopefully I will soon when I have the confidence for it) I've been in a slump when it comes to building and growing my brand. Watching you work on your shop honestly motivated me into not giving up and keep working towards to goal of one day being a successful business! So thank you and I can't wait to keep watching your content.
This is so cool to see! I have a conventional desk job and it's interesting to see what someone who has their own business has to do. I have ordered from you in the past and have your art in my home! You are doing amazing and beautiful things, definitely in awe of you!!!
I cant believe you have so many sells and all on your own??? The amount of work! Wow, You’re a true inspiration and you sound like a very sweet person too 😇
This was really informative. I have been really interested into doing this kind of business but had no idea where to start/ where to look for information.
I am gushing at my husband about how adorable everything you make is! Poor man, just trying to play his video game and I'm over here making him look at my screen. Great work!!
Just a suggestion: you can run multiple silhouette cameo machines at the same time on one computer. cameo 3’s are a lot cheaper than the new cameo 4 machine. I had a cricut explore air for a few years, but got a cameo 3 for Christmas last year. I absolutely love my cameo 3. yes there was a huge learning curve with the software but once you get the hang of it, it’s amazing. Just trying to save you some time. The biggest difference I noticed with Silhouette versus Cricut is the cutting speed. Also, you might be able to cut your sticker sheets without a cutting mat. (I know you can cut vinyl on the cameo without a mat, not sure about stickers). It has to be expensive to keep buying mats on a monthly basis. I love this vlog. Thank you so much for sharing your behind the scenes process. Congrats on graduating.
Whiskey Black Agreed. It’s so wasteful and a waste of money. Use a scrub sponge, like a dobie to scrub off all the old sticky from the mat (it’s easier than you think and takes just a few minutes - like scrubbing dead skin off), use this (link) and just swipe it across in lines until the whole thing has one even layer, then let it air dry (without clear cover) until the next day. It’s like a brand new mat AND the stick is even better than the original green mat. I always love to look at this video and just chill right along with ya, lol It’s so fun seeing your process! And considering you have both the Silhouette and Cricut, as I’ve been looking into getting either one for my own DIY ideas- I would love to see a comparison between the two!
As you grow your business, you'll eventually see places you can streamline your costs and time. But for the time being, it looks like you've got your system down, it's working for you, and you're still enjoying yourself doing it - which sometimes is half the battle when people have their own creative businesses. I'm proud and amazed at what you're able to accomplish as a full time student. I wish you the best on your graduation!!
Seeing how much work goes into this makes me appreciate artists even more than I do. You guys work so hard and the fact some people will complain about the price is just awful
USPS will pick up from your front porch too, I just leave a magnetic note on the mailbox with the flag up, and a little peppermint candy. My postman is a super nice lady, and she looks forward to me sending out packages now!
I have become a new fan of your channel. I have a design background myself from Art Institute of Houston. My question for ya was in fonts and your iPad Pro. Do you design your own fonts, are you stuck to using what you have on the pad, or do you download any from font sites for use on procreate?

You have probably answered this 20 times before but I'm brand new here lol How do you get the cricut to cut all the way through around the sticker card but only kisscut the stickers? Thanks in advance
Awesome video on how you run things.... thanks so much! As for a better solution to clear baggies, have you looked into glassine bags? They will protect your sticker from moisture and are recyclable. Also buying your mats for the Cricut directly from them in bulk when on sale comes out to $3 and change for one mat if you purchase the 30 pack versus $15 for two. It surely shows that you love what you are doing and that you take great pride in it. Way to go!

A business like this really sounds like something id enjoy spending time on,,, how would you suggest I get started? I really am focused on committing to this so a reply would be so helpful :-)
decide on what you want to sell and then google "how to start X business." Unless you're selling super unique stuff that no one's thought of before, the chances are people wrote helpful articles about exactly what you need to start your business.
Love videos like this. Keep them coming. And congrats on graduating. How do you make your stickers weatherproof? I see that you use the weatherproof sticker paper but you can just use regular ink jet ink and they are weatherproof?

Brandy DuBois is that what the cleaning spay is called? Or what kind do you use?
Princess Corina yes. It’s called LA’s Totally Awesome cleaner.
Brandy DuBois thank you!
You have literally crafted your life beautifully! ❤️
Love everything about this video - right from your room, your peaceful personality, your craft! 💚💚
Peaceful! 🦋🥰
omg the sound of the machines both running @ the same time is like sensory hell
You should consider sound canceling ear muffs or get some nice sound canceling headphones! Depending on how loud it is, it could affect your hearing in the long term. Before I was a nurse I worked in a factory and wore ear plugs. I was the only one but I’m grateful that I did! Hopefully it saved my hearing a little. I’m already a little hearing impaired so I’m kind of hardcore 😂
I was having a stressful day and this video was very relaxing to watch! You’re stickers are so beautiful and it’s cool to see all that goes into your Etsy shop! :D
Nice! You get to do what you love, with your furry sidekick. What a sweet, well behaved Dog!
Hey just some advice speaking from personal experience, I am too self employed and I work very similarly to you, and I got to say, do some back exercises regularly, even if you have no back pain, because it’s really going to eventually strain your lower spine.
Your work ethic is amazing, really inspiring.
Would you ever do a short tutorial on how to add pages to a bullet journal.
Such a great video! You make beautiful stickers, and your packaging is so wonderful! This is why people purchase from Etsy! Those personal touches are exactly what I look for from shops!
2:10 wow the lights in the mirror make your picture look very cool
As a small business owner and artist ( I don't sell my art hopefully I will soon when I have the confidence for it) I've been in a slump when it comes to building and growing my brand. Watching you work on your shop honestly motivated me into not giving up and keep working towards to goal of one day being a successful business! So thank you and I can't wait to keep watching your content.
Can we talk about how cute her work space is
Omg your desk is a whole vibe .I’m new to ur channel have you done a room tour ?if not definitely should do one x
I love how calming your voice and video is ☺️
This is so cool to see! I have a conventional desk job and it's interesting to see what someone who has their own business has to do. I have ordered from you in the past and have your art in my home! You are doing amazing and beautiful things, definitely in awe of you!!!
Hi! You really inspired me a lot today. I'm just curious how often do you run out of ink with all that printing all day and stuff?
I cant believe you have so many sells and all on your own??? The amount of work! Wow, You’re a true inspiration and you sound like a very sweet person too 😇
I can’t get over your headboard I need it also this is ALOT of work wow
I just love how productive this is. Love to see more vlogs like this!
This was really informative. I have been really interested into doing this kind of business but had no idea where to start/ where to look for information.
Samantha Timms I would recommend listening to some podcasts or reading a book such as “be the artist” but the most important thing is just to start!
I am gushing at my husband about how adorable everything you make is! Poor man, just trying to play his video game and I'm over here making him look at my screen. Great work!!
Do you have any tips for starting an Etsy shop? I want to start but it seems super overwhelming
They make an adhesive spray for the mats to make them sticky again. OMG. Stop throwing away your hard earned cash on new mats!! Eek!!
She mentioned on a higher up response that it's more to do with the mats warping due to the amount of stickers she cuts on them in a month!
@@madnessintomagic That won't help the mat warping unfortunately.
🤷🏼♀️ I’ve used the same mat, re-stickied three times, for over 18 months making hundreds of Leather earrings. I’ve never seen any warping.
aignaciodc she did reply to another comment that she also use the scrub sponge but her main problem is the warping thats why she have to replace it
Your room looks gorgeous so soft witchy aesthetic
you should buy your mats on amazon, they're cheaper. They're just not the same brand, but work just as good
Her room is so aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, wow i- 🥺🥺✋🏻✋🏻💕💕 love it
Okay, I am not a huge dog person but your dog is so adorable!!!!❤️
I always love to look at this video and just chill right along with ya, lol It’s so fun seeing your process! And considering you have both the Silhouette and Cricut, as I’ve been looking into getting either one for my own DIY ideas- I would love to see a comparison between the two!
You can try glassine. I use both eco friendly plastic pouches from clearbags and glassine.
Congrats on graduating!!!
Madison Niece thank you so much!! 🤗
Jenny Journals you’re welcome pretty girl!
Seeing how much work goes into this makes me appreciate artists even more than I do. You guys work so hard and the fact some people will complain about the price is just awful
omg i clicked this bc i need to learn how to do an etsy store but i'm staying bc the secret history is my favorite book ever
Hi, I'm a crochet crafter and I have to say, you work incredibly hard. Well done and all the best with your company. Ros🙂
Ooh love this video! such a huge fan of your stickers, and it’s so cool to see what all goes into it:)
A good day requires a good mood. You are good at planning your time. I also like those little cards. Thank you for sharing! 👍!
What an obedient dog! Wish mine was like that.
USPS will pick up from your front porch too, I just leave a magnetic note on the mailbox with the flag up, and a little peppermint candy. My postman is a super nice lady, and she looks forward to me sending out packages now!
If you haven’t read the “Goldfinch” by the same author, you should give it a try
Loved the Gold Finch, have you seen the movie?
No, I didn’t see the movie. “The Winter Garden” and the Nightingale” by Kristen Hannah are also excellent books.
@@debandrew2802 thank you, I'll have to check those out. The movie was good but the book was better
Deb Andrew ooooh The Goldfinch ❤️❤️❤️
Your voice is so soothing. So fun to watch you create also!
I have become a new fan of your channel. I have a design background myself from Art Institute of Houston. My question for ya was in fonts and your iPad Pro. Do you design your own fonts, are you stuck to using what you have on the pad, or do you download any from font sites for use on procreate?
Hi Jenny,
I have to say that you are truly an Incredible Artist - Illustrator, you have so much to be Proud of and you can Surely hold your Head High, for the world to see, keep up your Incredible work
I really enjoyed this video and would love if you would take it into consideration to make it a series thank you for the content
This is so fascinating to me! I love seeing all the work you put into your products. Tbh I was trying to count how many packages you were sending out, seems like business is good! Thanks for sharing!!
You have probably answered this 20 times before but I'm brand new here lol
How do you get the cricut to cut all the way through around the sticker card but only kisscut the stickers? Thanks in advance
Awesome video on how you run things.... thanks so much! As for a better solution to clear baggies, have you looked into glassine bags? They will protect your sticker from moisture and are recyclable. Also buying your mats for the Cricut directly from them in bulk when on sale comes out to $3 and change for one mat if you purchase the 30 pack versus $15 for two. It surely shows that you love what you are doing and that you take great pride in it. Way to go!
What a satisfied video 🥰 could you do it more often 💕✨
so much respect for sole runners of small businesses!
Cellophane is made from plants instead of oil :) You can use cellophane or glassine bags
Your room is a wonderland full of magic and life!
Jenny: Sometimes I lock myself away for 2 days on end...
Everyone in 2020: OMG, you only lock yourself away for 2 days!? Lucky! I've been stuck inside for 6 weeks!
try 7 months now
For your plastic bag thing: I use these thin fabric drawstring bags! They are lightweight, aesthetic, and look nice with whatever you're selling.
Is your wooden plank on your bed just a wooden plank or is it a bed desk you got somewhere? If it is just a wooden plank you are a genius!
Essentially Haley I love it! Wonder where she got it from?
It looks like a drawing board/easel (seems to have lip on one edge). I have one just like it! They sell them at Hobby Lobby. (And probably Michaels)
But for a really cheap bed workspace you can buy an ikea desktop without legs (like $10).
Your work is awesome. Such a challenging work and more over the room with decorative items is amazing..
When you go to Michael's, you use the 40% off coupon right?
Oogle at Luxury ooo what’s the coupon? I spend tons of money on Michaels and have no coupons
Shameem Zee sign up for the rewards program or go to the coupon tab on their website!! Michaels has 40-50% off coupons ALL THE TIME. & with the rewards program I think you can use multiple coupons per purchase :)
You can’t use Michaels coupons on cricut stuff
Great video. I loved how you added the gold after and the special touches when packaging. Most thing I see on here are just print and package
Her: sometimes I'll be locked away in my room for 2 days on end...
2020: bet
You work so much! Omg... I could never, actually, I would be miserable and want to not do it anymore. Keep up the work! You're so patient.
one word; respect.
a shit ton of work people over look
can someone look at my etsy? Just search JewelsbyannieStudio please! i work hard on it C: and i dont get many orders and its mostly under 5$!!!!
@@sunnyxsideskittles1922 stop spaming. it's making me not want to buy things.
@@Lisasplace i just asked you....business for me has been bad since june so i try and ask people to at least support it!

@@Lisasplace i work hard and i loved ur comment so i ask if u can look at my shop? im littlery only 13 please dont hate....
I love seeing you do vlogs like this! Its neat to see artists with shops do these kind of vids. Do you think you could make a video on how you started your etsy shop and some business tips?
Where is the wooden desk for your bed from? I’d like to get one.
bebe0222 it is from michaels! Here is the one I have: www.michaels.com/artists-loft-all-media-flat-surface-easel/10280355.html
please make more of these videos. It's so calm and therapeutic to watch!
I love your voice it relax me I don’t know why before watching the video I was stressed and angry now I’m stressed but not angry
Your bedroom/workspace is magical!✨
This video was so relaxing to watch. I love your style! You’ve gained a new subscriber 😌
You're an incredible one man army !
Hope you're able to get some rest after graduating ❤️
Great job !
I LOVE YOUR ROOM! It’s aesthetically pleasing and it’s neat and tidy!
hi! where did you get the table on your bed?
I love watching you! I have a VERY small etsy sticker shop and watching you inspires me so much
Love videos like this. Keep them coming. And congrats on graduating. How do you make your stickers weatherproof? I see that you use the weatherproof sticker paper but you can just use regular ink jet ink and they are weatherproof?
Lone Bird Studio yep! Somehow the paper works with the inkjet ink in a certain way that makes them weatherproof 🙂 not sure how it works but it works!
Jenny Journals Are you’re clear glossy sticker sheets weatherproof too or do you use something to coat them or are they fine just like that ?? :) sorry for the long question love your vids btw ♡
You could use glassine bags! They are way better for the environment and they look super cute!
