Hope you guys enjoy the new video! I know you guys have been asking for this one for a while. I spent like about 2 hours linking everything that I mentioned in the description box so hopefully that's helpful 😄 But if you guys have any questions about anything I mentioned you can leave a comment and I'll try to answer it!

I just bought a wooden palette myself and am currently in the process of prepping it. Every week I am coating my palette in a very thin layer of linseed oil for a period of 2 month. After some time it will become very sleek and the paint won’t seep into the palette as much. Hope that helped! :)

Lena Wait you’re supposed to prep it? I’ve been using mine for about a year and it’s going strong. I might have prepped it a bit. I’m not sure🤷‍♀️

Years ago one of my grandmas told me a week before she died DON'T SAVE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS FOR GOOD. She said that is what she had done and she said now I'm going to die and somebody else will use the good perfumes the pretty nightgowns and nice handkerchiefs and lovely stationery and she was correct. She never did. She was saving them

Girl- rip open that packet of Arches paper! I used to do the same- save it for something special. But then, I decided I would use Arches for all things I knew I was going to keep, and only used other paper for practice. Good watercolor paper is a game changer! Treat yourself!

You can seal the wooden one with a polycoat! I sealed mine with some that I got from Lowe's in a spray paint style can, and it's amazing! I can even mix watercolors on it

I love the color palette that you chose for your watercolor markers! Also, If you’re investing in gouache I highly recommend Windsor and Newton Designer’s Gouache! If you like the Cotman paints, you’ll love their gouache and the color selection is really good.

you should do a painting on the wood palette. its pretty. i would feel the same way. i always use plastic bowls ect from the deli or food delivery. that way they get a second use its not so wasteful and i dont feel bad about tossing them. Use that expensive paper and live your best life.

The ecoline pens are refillable with the bottles of ecoline liquid watercolour. This works out as a cheap refil. You won't need to throw away the pens till the nibs get damaged.

Lovely video. I always find your videos so relaxing! The brand Utrecht is named after a city in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands we pronounce the u and the ch very differently then English speaking people haha! It is a difficult word to pronounce for someone who doesn’t know the Dutch language. But I like it better the way you say it, we say the ch so harsh, you make it sound better, a bit softer. I like it!

I messed up an expensive brush with acrylic paint pretty badly and actually got it back by wiping it off bit by bit with the same brush cleaner you have. It took me a while because I didn't want to ruin the bristles by being too harsh, but I tried to get a bit off acrylic out each day and i kida started from one side cleaning a few bristles and made my way to the other side... and after 2 weeks it came off entirely, i can't tell the difference

Seeing the state of some of your brushes pains me, please, please rinse them in water right after you use them. You may think it doesn't matter but cleaning them from a dried state will damage the bristles long term and you'll need to buy new brushes all the time.
Just get in the habit of keeping a big jar of water next to your painting area. You also shouldn't leave them standing in the water bristles down because that will warp the bristles. So my tip is just: Jar of water and an old piece of fabric or cloth folded up next to it. So if you're swapping between brushes you can quickly rinse one off and set it down on the cloth where it won't get water all over your stuff.
    I hope this helps

Hi! Washi tape is actually not really meant to be used with painting. The reason it's peeling up your paper when it happens is because the adhesive in the washi tape -- especially the high quality MT washi tape -- is interacting with the water in the paints and basically becoming stickier and forming a bond with the paper. I try to discourage people from using washi as a masking tape as much as possible, but I keep seeing people doing it anyway. 😔
I definitely recommend using that artist's masking tape you got -- or buy some painter's tape. The trick to getting any tape you use to lift without tearing your paper is to stick it to your pants or shirt a few times and take a little of the tack off of it. It doesn't stop it from doing its job, it just makes it less adhesive and helps it lift more cleanly. I reuse my artist's tape until it stops sticking or gets too much paint on it and I'm worried about the paint coming off the tape and getting in my current painting.
As for that little bit of seepage you had going on with the artist's tape, what happened was that you had an area that was not stuck down well or that got creased when you put it down. To ensure this doesn't happen in the future, grab a ruler or a bone folder and run it down each piece of tape you put down. It ensures you have full adhesion.
The reason your washi tape doesn't allow much seepage is because of what I originally said, the washi has an adhesive that interacts with moisture -- in a negative way -- and forms a bond with the paper. At least, MT washi tape does. The seal on MT washi tape is strong! I've had some washi tapes that have very poor adhesive and if you were using those with water they would likely lift off the paper altogether. So while that bond does help keep the paint out from under the tape, it also makes the tape stick to the paper and tear it up when you remove it. The artist's tape will work just fine if you take the tack off of it by sticking it to a fabric first and then ensure that you run a straight edge along each piece to ensure a tight seal.
Sorry to ramble and hope I didn't come across negatively. I'm only trying to help! 😊

PoppyFox this was very helpful thank you! Yeah I definitely think I just need to make sure the artist tape is fully pressed down next time before painting. Going to try it out again next time I paint and see what happens. Thanks for your suggestion! 🙂

Jenny Journals you are very welcome and I’m glad to have been a help! That was definitely my intent. Just run a ruler over that tape and it should seal just fine! Good luck and thank you for sharing your beautiful artwork with us! You’re very inspirational! 😘

Can’t believe you don’t take better care of your brushes…It only takes a minute to clean a brush…You should only buy first tear brushes, that way you can toss them after you use them since you don’t have time to clean them…TIP: Use Murphy’s Oil (buy it at the grocery store) to get dried on paint out of brushes…Another suggestion, stick to “water color” paint witch suits your age and incline not to take care of your brushes…
