Tip: If you use watercolor pencils that match the colors you will be putting paint over, this will eliminate the ugly pencil graphite lines that can’t be erased after you paint over them but still show through the paint. The pencil lines will simply blend in with the rest of the painting and disappear once you paint over them.

A severe case of artists' block has got me into the mode of watching art videos and tutorials for too long, desperately trying to find something to motivate me and kick my butt into gear - to start DOING art instead of watching. Your work is (or looks) so simple yet is still amazing.

This tutorial is one of my faves. It's clear, concise and well done. Thanks for making painting beautiful waves achievable! I have one request: if it's not too much trouble could you elaborate a bit more on how you paint the white ink foam ripples? They look very realistic when you paint them. I'm having trouble making them look realistic.

I love your way of demonstrating/teaching...step by step. I tried the first exercise....it was fun and turned out ok for a first try. Going to do the second one this week. My teacher is happy that I'm trying new things without her! lol

Love this so much. I tried it, didn’t follow your steps (as in light to dark done backwards in second one so had to introduce paynes gray and gradients in first one. I think i didn’t dilute second bowl enough🙄)and did all three at once. It still looked good. Definitely will try it some more.

Haru let the water make the water for you. Just ad some swoopies and you’ll get a decent wave. A good method to making it look food is trying to balance the shapes. Have one wave leaning left? Add one leaning right somewhere! Don’t forget to look at real waves too
