Hello! If you were to play a minor seventh chord (m7) and then took the fifth note down a semi-tone, that's a half diminished. Diminished chords are all a minor 3rd apart. For example, A half diminished = A C Eb G. A diminished = A C Eb Gb. A bit confusing to explain in a comment I suppose but it's that last note of the chord that's really different. The Gb vs G. @@emwilliams97 You're most welcome. If you're just learning, I wouldn't worry too much about diminished chords at this stage. They're quite rare and that's the first question I've ever had about a half diminished chord. For advanced chords, I'd learn them as you need to play them. :)
