why do they call it a C 7th when it's not even a note in the major scale? The 7th note would be B, and this is a C major chord. What's the explanation?

im really uneducated about music but like to play with ableton, i found your video while looking up what a b major 7 was because it sounds good, i got a bunch of things about guitar and then found your video :) i appreciate explaining how to play it on piano. i was wondering though, would a b major 5 be different? or is the number just something to do with which fret to play it on with a guitar?
