The design is so cheap, its like a bunch of royalty free materials and 3d models from the web, the game artists didnt even bother to look up the pictures of pre-war Stalingrad. Judging by the trees and vegetations we are somewhere in Italy or France, but nowhere near Stalingrad. Why are people boarding their shops when there was no commerce in the USSR? Where did they get plywood? If you look at the pictures of Stalingrad in 1940, you would not find plywood, it was an expensive and fancy material used for furniture and aircrafts, no one would have been using it to board up windows in his right mind. Why is there so many cars abandoned? Only high officials were able to afford cars, why are there so many abandoned cars if all officials would have been evacuated months before the first air raid? Why is there yellow tarp everywhere? Is this The Division 2 or what? You even used the wrong barbed wire, google Stalingrad images and see what type of barbed wire was used in the USSR, every soviet person knows it and its nothing like this fancy modern razor wire. And its like that with everything. It is not Stalingrad, it is France with yellow tarp from the Division 2, razor wire from Iraq war and plywood from US marines training grounds with fake plywood houses. Guys, you have completely messed up the art and visual part, its not immersive at all.

The fact that lots of the main battle tanks of WW2 have been throughly researched through books and media makes it the fact that the earlier models would have been used instead of the later ones so it all comes down to pointing the blame on budget and time of release which means they have to models a few items relevant in their WW2 game if you know what I mean.

I think the 2003 COD had the best Stalingrad atmosphere, it had a mix of both since at least 4 missions were based in Stalingrad. COD 2 had a good one too but it was just winter.
Like if you remember the OG Call of Duty Stalingrad mission - all you got was a clip of 5 bullets and an order to "move forward, no retreat - traitors will be shot". In all seriousness though, the mission was flipping amazing. Crossing the river with the Stuka's dropping bombs, blowing the other boats up and the barrier troops shooting deserters while the commandant gives his speech. Then standing around in a big crowd while your orders are given, "the man with the rifle shoots, the man with the bullets follows" - with machine gun fire and artillery going off all around. Then the charge up the hill into battle. Was absolutely flipping amazing
And that's the FIRST CoD game ever. That Stalingrad mission was a hell of an experience and just the beginning. How the fuck do you devolve this bad over 19 years?
As a Russian person, I was very upset that the "Russian" people in the game DO NOT LOOK LIKE RUSSIANS AT ALL. their appearance is Arabian, gypsy, Jewish, BUT NOT RUSSIAN. remember, Russian people don't look like that, Russians have completely different facial features, predominantly blue eyes and blonde hair. even the hairstyles of the inhabitants of "Stalingrad" do not correspond to the era. the rest of the atmosphere of Russia in the 40s is conveyed well. stalingrad is not like stalingrad, but it looks like a typical Russian city. it is clear that the developers did not even try to recreate exactly Stalingrad.
It is also worth noting that the word "papasha" in Russian is used in a disparaging, offensive meaning. this is a gross mistake, it hurts the ear. the developers wanted to show colloquial communication. correct would be "batya\batyanya"

It is also worth noting that the word "papasha" in Russian is used in a disparaging, offensive meaning. this is a gross mistake, it hurts the ear. the developers wanted to show colloquial communication. correct would be "batya\batyanya"
