- Afterburn is the Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster at Carowinds. This attraction originally opened during the Paramount ownership as Top Gun- the Jet Coaster, but it was renamed Afterburn after Cedar Fair purchased the park. This is one of the best paced inverts with the lack of a brake-run and 6 forceful inversions.
My favorite parts of this coaster are the batwing and the entrance into the final corkscrew holy moly because that hill slows down quite a bit but it feels like you hit a invisible launch into that corkscrew
That corkscrew is also partially hidden by the tree.
Rode this yesterday, imo the second best ride in the park
It's a great ride.
I think copperhead strike was better, but it’s your opinion
A massive B&M WILL command respect in a park. Carowinds placed this jewel perfectly placed in the park with an observation path. Love how the 'fighter' hangs off one of the support columns.
I love its placement too.
Great ride. You can just see the positive force
Absolutely.
This Is Easily A Top 20 Coaster I Greyed Out On It
So Many Freaking Times
It's very good.
Can't wait for your review. I remember this being my fave invert for its intensity-but I havent ridden it since 2004! Since then that belongs to either Montu or Alpengeist...cant decide. Both Busch inverts are so good!
I much prefer Montu.
@@CanobieCoaster Understandable. Honestly its a bit of a toss up for me, but recency bais makes me lean towards the one I just visited since it had a bit more interaction with its surroundings on top of the equally intense layout.
I got nothing to say about this ride, I love it to bits, the only one I prefer is Black Mamba at Phantasialand!
Black Mamba is another cool one.
I find it strange how they originally decided to theme this ride to Godzilla before switching to Top Gun instead because the park was owned by Paramount at the time and that Godzilla film was not made by Paramount but instead by TriStar which is owned by Sony.
I'm not sure why they wanted a Godzilla coaster.
Knowing how sin I am and I look like a pancake I would probably just fall when the loop de loop comes
The restraints are snug.
Cool. Reminds me of Flight Deck. Bet it's a really smooth ride. Get ride of it and build a invert. I ĺike the looks of this ride. Neat.
I love its look too.
I have always found this coasters layout to be very cool. I have to ask, is there any airtime on that hill over the station.
No, but there is a great footchopper.
Are u doing a review for this cuz I’ve been waiting on this for a long while
Yes, tomorrow
I just wanna say that it says Afterburn goes 62 mph at 113 feet but when I build on planet Coaster it hovers around mid 50s mph 🤔 not sure you’re aware
They give the height, but they don't give the total elevation change. I feel like it hits its max speed at the immelmann.
AFTERBURN REVIEW TOMORROW
Yes!
Looks a lot like Worlds of Fun’s Patriot
