  • It’s green, it’s minty, it’s the McDonald’s Shamrock Shake!
This shake is one of the more anticipated menu items that always returns during the middle of February up until March 17th.
It’s to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and it’s served in McDonald’s locations in the United States, Canada and Ireland (obviously).
The shake was actually created in Connecticut though, not Ireland (Not obviously)
Join DJ Glowing Ice as we go on a full deep dive into the history, myths, rumors, variations and origin of this loved (or not so loved) sweet treat from McDonald’s.
This video leaves no stone unturned as we will tackle the false origins and other lies that have been scattered across the internet for far too long.
This is the definitive history of the Shamrock Shake.
I did all the research, writing, voice narration, filming of video, editing and so on.
So rest easy, and enjoy the History of McDonald’s Shamrock Shake 😎

Now! This is what I am Talking! Great Detail Segment! Shamrock Shakes are Awesome! Love them with a Filet O Fish Sandwich! The One thing I do miss is the Original Milkshake form of them! I could really do without the extra thick whipped cream topping parfait style! They Should have them in different styles as well as the Original! I don't believe most of the internet story ads, I am 54 Years Old and started drinking these when I was about 6 and always remember them tasting like Mint, like you had stated! Mid 70's Uncle O' Grimacey was an Awesome Mascot Character for the Item! I also have a prior to "Uncle O G" A 1973 Commercial with the Evil Four-Armed Purple Grimace Turning totally Green by drinking one! Thank-You For Sharing and God Bless!

I learned a lot from this video, thanks for putting it together! I'm surprised those fancy straws and the concept of "half and half" milkshakes never caught on.

Haha yeah, I had to take my time with this one to get all the facts straight. Also slowly buying things as they would finally show up on eBay took some time.

Dude I think you are awesome. From what I know the origins of the Shamrock Shake are shrouded in mystery, and I've read somewhere that the original may have been just green food coloring, the first year, with the mint flavor added later. I'm at work right now so idk if I'll see it right when it premieres but I'm looking forward to seeing it

Thanks brother. Oh yeah, at the time when I made the original documentary, I was a bit unsure, so much misinformation and not enough solid evidence from McDonald’s. But the past couple of years of poking away I found it all out. This video will put all the rumors and questions to rest for sure! Hey man, it’s awesome regardless. That’s the beauty of RUclips, you watch at your convenience 😎
      It’ll be here waiting!

Oh it’s minty? I always thought it was supposed to be pistachio. It should be pistachio. Wow. Great documentary! This is professional. You should be on the Food TV like the host of Double Dare. Yes but when did green beer originate? It had to come from green beer. Oh wow grimace is a taste bud? Whaaaat? There is a green one? That’s awesome! Uncle O’Grimacey!

Creme de Menthe was always in my grandma's refrigerator. Put it on vanilla ice cream. So good.

Remember that one grimace shake meme from last year? They're doing it again with this shake this year. The internet never fails to make us laugh at these stupid memes.
