as part of the foxhole community on QRF, there was a constant meme of someone who tried to put an amongi on our second art piece who went on our subreddit to complain that they couldn't even get two pixels down during our peak hours, but when we started loosing people to sleep and overall loss of interest (while that one was minimal) people kept noticing that they kept showing up, making theories on what they were. eventually the general consensus was that it was a fungus as (due to us mostly using black and grey for our colors) would be attracted to our pieces as they were the perfect place for fungus to grow
He actually forgotten to explain that placing pixels takes 5 minutes per account, which makes this event even more super mesmerizing. With you alone you might even be able to only create a 4 pixel art in 20 minutes, but with people collaborating just to create an art with that kind of limitation timer, and defending that art from griefers? Oh my, it almost felt like there's no word to express that feeling of achievement.
@Serendipity To be fair. For some like MLP Bots where needed just to survive the 22 Raids from streamers. If not for streamers Bots would not be needed this year.
The picure of a duck sitting on a chair is dedicated to a streamer named Reckful. He was a WOW streamer and one of the pioneers of streaming in general. He sadly passed away in 2020 so the streaming community made a tribute to him. He used to put a duck on his chair when he left his setup for monent. He had a huge impact on streaming. For example he was one of the first people to but a donation box to his stream so people can donate to him, which made live streaming an actual way to make money. It was really beautiful seeing streamers who were his friends coming together and making it for him. RIP Byron
@@lowlyroblock3097 oh no we ended up on canvas at last frame we are on the right side of the canvas top left of yellow background joker picture, we still have our community discord going
It's true that Jack's community isn't as tight-knit as before, but that's just the flow of time. People come and go. But there will always be people to remmeber you and be there for you, even if you don't see them. There's still a strong community here, we just don't show it off and yell about it like we were when we were teenagers
I feel the same way. We didn’t abandon the community or anything we just grew up come back every once in a while. Jack and the community is sort of like that family and friends you leave behind when you go to college - you don’t love it less, you just see it less. Now we just look back and smile on the smile at the old days🥲
i think the biggest change for the channel has just been time, over time we grew up as well as Sean, and his fans and himself have kinda matured in a way
@@MoawiahJamal i didnt watch him but by watching xqc i think he said, quote on quote "His viewers kept telling him to kill himself as a joke, but one day he actually did it, now theyre spamming "RIP RECKFUL" even though they know they were the reason he did it" and the duck idk probably his icon Edit: Im not saying he killed himself because people told him to Its basically like bullying someone and then the victim gets depressed and then commits suicide
I would of liked to see a homage for Grant Thompson, The King of Random. I cried so much when he died, he was a great youtuber, and an even better Person RIP.
I think the most interesting thing was how alliances formed between smaller communities to defend each other because they didn't individually have the manpower of osu! or the giant country flags. It was really cool to see what communities banded together, with some of them reaching 20+ groups that would otherwise have no connection. No where else would you see things like the Destiny (the game, not the streamer) community joining forces with FC Barcelona, the spanish football group
For the jrwi space our only reason for not getting obliterated is because Curious George crypto said we couldn’t fuck them up or else they would fuck us up. And at one point AMC destroyed our asses
the trans community really formed a lot of alliances with other people, because we kept getting attacked by r/conservative and destiny (super transphobic). So... yeah
It honestly felt like a good ending, go out in a bang of sorts, and a proper reset for next year While it was sad to see everything go like that, it was pretty cool at the same time. I guess it also prevents people from selling the finished frame as an NFT xD
This is actually so interesting to me. I find it fascinating that communities can come together and build such cool art just based off pictures! I love how communities who have nothing to do with each other built alliances in order to defend their areas. It’s such a cool idea so that we can look back on it and see what people were interested in right now. It kind of feels like every time you place a square to help build something, you’re becoming a part of history that people will look back on one day. And like Jack said, this is pure art. This is just millions of people coming together to create pure art that is reflective of almost everyone on the internet, because almost everyone on the internet has played, or watched, or lived in, or can relate to something on the canvas. Definitely a type of time capsule for the internet, I hope they bring it back again in a few years to see what changes!
@@kamreyn5284 Its crazy to see how far his community and literally how far he has come from when he did his first video. I literally got so excited just for him to post Happy Wheels videos.
Jack, we are all growing up now. Your entire fanbase is getting older as we all mature. You have shifted your content style overtime to fit the change extremely well. We don't have the same amount of time now to really stay together as a community much outside of the videos. We have many different passions and hobbies to keep us occupied now compared to when we were little and could hyperfocus on one thing. Your community is definetly less tight-knit than it was before but I don't see it as a bad thing.
i think your right, i started watching this crazy guy when i started high school and i’m about to graduate college still watching him. jacks been great about shifting and sometimes i go back and watch all the horror videos for fun or my fav series like papers please or fran bow. any play through that jack does is great and rewatching is perfect for studying lol
Yeaah 😭 Jack's community was so young but now we're oh so old with responsibilities and stuff. But for me Jack will always be a core part of my childhood.
I feel like its more to do with having less interactive videos such as reacting to redit or comments reading. Also posting less videos does weaken the resolve to stay connected as it's easy to get distracted by other things going on then. There's a ton of active people still around and keep coming but the motivation to interact isn't the same as it used to be. But despite all that there is still a suprising amount of people still going strong with stuff which is quite crazy
I think that the sheer power of the rainbow road is insane while showing respect to every artwork it came into contact with, even in some creative ways like the portals. This whole r/place is truly about dedication, and I respect this for how many people are coming together to create art.
Member from r/ainbowroad here! We’re doing our absolute best, and have been so lucky to have so many talented communities contact us asking for some space on our road, or to ask us to correlate our rainbow into their pieces! The best part of this whole experience has definitely been working together with other the groups, and brainstorming designs! The communities around us have been super open to letting us merge with their art, it’s just really cool to be apart of! Also, it’s amazing to see the love the people of r/place have for the road. On so many occasions when we would have gotten overrun, people who aren’t even “part” of the Rainbow Road group have been helping repair the roads. Definitely wouldn’t be have survived this long without everyone!
I was never this proud of being german :'D Got it all in there! Die Maus, Bernd das Brot, arte, the vw bus, die drei ???, das sandmännchen... just everything...
r/place is like the biggest collab place ever in the history. it's the only place where I see all of the communities from different franchises I love like Deltarune, Omori, Pokemon, Osu, Genshin,... come together, make stunning artworks and even support each other. Love it so much. Hope to see it again next year :)
I absolutely loved the unspoken rules that formed as this went on. From wars to alliances and armistices to practically anarchy and raids. A lot of real emotions were had for this canvas and I think that's amazing.
Hey Jack, I'm from the OMORI community and helped participate in our spots on the canvas, and I just wanna say, I recommend Omori WHOLEHEARTEDLY! Omori is a game that has changed my life forever and honestly, was my generation's version of Undertale. (I was only about 10 when Undertale came out and I still loved it, but I never got to experience it with the lack of knowledge and experience I had at the time.) Not to compare it to Undertale, of course. It's its own game and has its own charm apart of it! (But Toby Fox did help contribute from my knowledge which was really cool!) It may be a long game, 20 hours worth of gameplay long, but believe me, it is *worth it.* I cannot tell you enough of how beautiful it is and how much it changed my life, and seeing your lets plays of Undertale as a kid just for you to play Omori, would be a dream come true. I understand if you don't have the time, but please, for your sake, I think you should play it at some point. It's an amazing experience.
literally played through the game almost 10 times, i could NOT recommend it more. not exaggerating, but this game changed my whole life. i used my savings to buy it, bought OFFICIAL merch, drew about 125 pieces of fan art or drawings inspired by it, based my oc around the main character, made my nickname related to omori, and that’s not even all of it. this game… this game is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me… i have a special spot in my heart for indie games and music, and this was just the perfect game. it has great art, great music, and a great story. ah, i may have gone overboard and nerded out a lil bit… but basically, omori is one of the best, if not THE best indie RPG games ever.
I wish people would not compare it to Undertale though. I understand why they do, but they are very different. It sets an expectation for the game that doesn't really work. MatPat tried to spare in battle because he thought that since it was like Undertale sparing is good and fighting is bad. He did not deserve to get absolutely flamed for it, but it did happen because the expectation was there. But both are fantastic games in their own right.
The most amazing part is not just how a community can come together to make something, but the alliances between communities that happened because of this. So many communities that would never had talked to each other normally are suddenly creating pacts left and right. Really amazing.
Also it has the most bizarre version of History that you could imagine. In which universe would you have the Mexicans and the Italians ally to invade Poland?
The void is done by r/theswarm. Their original goal was to destroy large pieces like flags so that smaller artists could make art too. They acted like a mass of entropy and death for new life. Now that its the last day, they changed objective. Now they want to preserve the void king until its all over.
As someone who's been contributing to this since day one... It's insane to think how little I've done on my own, and yet ALL of that canvas is full... all of it. People fighting over pixels, organizing different projects with their communities, and making alliances with their neighbors to protect their own projects has been so fascinating to me. Probably the best event reddit has done with all of its reactivity, and I'm really glad it's turned out this damn good
Yeah r/place is so ingenuous, the way it's made so that everyone is forced to work together or else you get destroyed, I mostly helped a lot with Terraria creations like the moon lord, the tree that has now been taken down, there's rabbits on the very top to the left, it's just so unimaginably beautiful, what people can do with 4 million pixels, I want to hang it up on my wall as like a poster
well actually, maybe you did do quite a bit all on your own. if you place a pixel every 5 minutes for the 5 days that it lasts, you'd place 1440 pixels
The two Etika memorials was literally one of the first times I really felt like thriving in a community. From one person calling out in an old Etika Discord that a memorial on r/Place would be cool too multiple Joyconbois coming out of their holes to build and defend these two memorials was just so damn heartwarming and beautiful. The Allies we made with the community’s around us, the OG community members coming back and helping the Projekt, the fights for space against other communitys was so much fun and I’m so damn glad that even after Etikas passing the community came together and created something beautiful. I really feel you Jack on the tearing up part, it’s just so… magical as corny as it sounds lol. R/Place 2022 really was something special for many community’s and I’m so happy many of us could see community’s thrive in these short 4 days…. Man i just felt like I poured my heart out because of your video :‘D
It's so interesting seeing so many close communities that are actually protecting eachother, shows the internet can still upkeep some good in it, love to see it.
Yea. The MLP comunnity was there helping defend Deltarune and Ralesi from the Europe Rogues and Rainbow Road and Math from Spain. Unfortunately we could not help the anime ones from Myzkif.
@@redholm I still think it's amazing how on the internet, there's always alliances, enemies and truces always being made. It's things like r/place that show just who stands with who, and its wonderful❤
@@snek616 Yea. It was a lot of fun. When we where doing alright we would get requests to help defend other works from ambassadors from their sides. Like Math and Deltarune. When Spain or the EU map tried to invade we quickly added those builds to our Minimap so we could help rebuild. Sure this was not 100% selfless as said expansions could come for us. But we mostly just wanted our little plot of land and didn't want to expand. So spreading Friendship was the only way to go. And it really fits with the theme of the show XD
Jack's reaction to r/Place and his community is so wholesome. For as cool as r/Place is (and, especially, how it was originally), there is still an element of toxicity that kind of taints the whole thing. It's nice to have a refresher from Jack that it's really overall a wholesome thing and I wish there were more events like this that permeate the internet.
I like jacks view of this. However I do not agree. If you want your art protected. Don’t put it in a place that can be edited by anyone and everyone. In this video there are hitler logos. On the same post as your art. I’d hate that. I hope that some of these diff communities got together in their own time and did something even better that couldn’t be ruined.
We might hate it, but the internet is everyrhing, including toxic sometimes. That could be what the void is, the toxicity that threatens to spread. But surrounding it is the colors and kindness of hundreds and thousands of people, all working together to make things better for everyone. It even shows the toxicity as only a small, albeit vocal part of the true life of the internet. Truly, we've all created a universe made of our own thoughts, loves and opinions. Isn't it beautiful? Even with the bad, there will always be beauty that comes with the true, whole collective.
@@cernolgluestick5561 Hitler logos? Honestly, where? I was heavily involved in place these past few days, and it was a hugely positive thing, and communities interacted with each other before going over something, helped relocate old art before covering it, and so on. Additionally, it was heavily moderated by reddit mods. Random dicks appeared on stuff obviously, but full on nudity, racism or Nazism weren't allowed at all. There was a naked peter griffin at one point for example, it was pretty funny but got wiped quickly. I haven't seen any offensive words appear in the first place, honestly.
I think it's poetic how communities from absolutely HUGE pieces of media, like Undertale and DeltaRune, despite succeeding at collaboration, are still rivaled by the raw, but subtle, strength of the Among Us Crewmate Jack has a point with how his community might not be as tight-knit anymore, but hey, that doesn't mean that the bond of the fans has grown weaker, people still love sticking around to this day, and that's kinda beautiful
I love this project, it just shows how comunities can work together, but sadly, not all get a good ending, Right now there are a bunch of bots , and my countriy's flags all got targeted and taken down. Some streamers are trying to fight off those who took our place but not even they can.
Omori is an incredible game. Filled with well written characters and an intriguing storyline. It may be a bit long, but I wholeheartedly claim that it’s worth it in the end.
For me personally, I feel like the community isn’t as prominent in my life. There was a point where this was the only place I felt welcome. But now I’m in a place where my happiness doesn’t just depend on this anymore and that makes it even better. I think a lot of people have it the same.
@@jacksepticeye Ya but atleast u know that this comunity here for real we dont have 2 see u scream shout do a Tyler 1.We just like u for u and u started this channel for yourself.
7:57 Its a memorial for Reckful, its his duck in space. It was made by Mizkif, Wubby, and Will Neff's community! I was there and helped. It really was such a good thing to be there for. A lot of love went into it!
I coincidentally recently watched Dr K’s first conversation with Reckful. He was such a compassionate and thoughtful person. I really hope no one messes with that space.
@@None-lx8kj Unfortunately people have and France is threatening Mizkif if he doesnt help them they will destroy it. I just hope it lasts till the end in a few hours!
Omori isn't as long a game as many people say, and it gets going fairly quickly. It's an incredible game and it would be great to see Sean play it but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
At the slowest maybe around 24 hours, which is about how long Undertale Pacifist is at its slowest. I'd also say Omori is more of Earthbound and Undertale in spirit instead of either one
In all honesty, I really hated the fact that a lot of different communities attacking other people's art just to troll and put something uncreative in place. However I love how tight-knit the ones who were attacked on the canvas were, it goes to show how amazing every single one of them are in terms of keeping everything together and in turn protecting other pieces from other communities. The Internet can be an amazing place.
They were all defended by bots except some lmao. Tight nit bots. Its almost like only only they wanted fun, not letting people do whatever they want on a public canvas, and have fun. For something that lasted 4 days. It was so toxic
i mean, that's what happened when it's a public canvas, but the fact that most picture is able to withstand the wave of voids and griefer is honestly just insane. and i don't think it's toxic, because you would have expect for someone to just grieve, or try to make something else on top of your pixels.
I got to be a part of the transplace community (you can see the area it occupied when he focuses on the UK and Italy), and it was fun but also stressful. Some of the worst moments were like Jack mentioned, when xQc started raiding with his followers, plus another streamer tried to cover the pride bar code next to it (under Turkey) with her own logo. There were also just a bunch of trolls who tried to destroy it. The fact that we stood our ground was such a great feeling though, and we ended up making it until the whiteout.
@@hazellmdh8329 Every story needs a villain for the heroes to rally against and he played that part perfectly and it would have been boring without him. The France v Spanish/streamers war was very entertaining also.
Hey Sean! The man with the peace sign on his back is Barış Manço, one of Turkey's most legendary singers. He always advocated for peace until the day he died. I think it's a very cool message! :)
this really is the coolest and most heartwarming thing i’ve seen on the internet. like seeing people come together for this, seeing people actually being nice. it’s great to see
This is niche to Canada but I got emotional when I saw Every Child Matters under the Canadian flag. For those that don’t know Canada has been facing its past by discovering the unmarked graves of indigenous children who were killed at Residential schools in the 1900s. It made me proud to know that people care enough to carve out that space.
I was proud to see it got included too. These school lasted from 1894 to 1997. One grave contained something around 200+ bodies... you can't help but wonder how many more there was and how atrocious the living conditions were.
That’s actually partly why Canada had such a hard time with their leaf in the middle to the point where they tried doing it twice. Because 1/3 wanted the regular leaf, 1/3 wanted the leaf green bc pot is legal here, and 1/3 wanted the center of the flag to be a blood splatter for the MMIW and colonial violence acknowledgment.
This is one of the instances that gives me hope for humanity. Glad you've got a part of the world. Just know that you're touching lives in a positive light. Cheers, man.
@@chuomge6598 ye people always have to take things too far and take everything wayyyy to seriously, like please just have fun with this dumb little pixel placing game and don't threaten someone over it.
This was (and is) an incredible piece of artwork; something told me that Jack would be fascinated by it... I had hoped that you would see the battle for Celtic flags on the UK place section, so proud of Cornwall to have come together constantly and were lucky enough to have a complete flag at the end. If you even get the opportunity to see a time-lapse of UK place, or a 'heat map' showing how many times tiles have been changed, I'm sure you'd be intrigued by how much it was fought over. Glad to see we were all safe in Ireland's sphere of influence from the get-go though!
I thought this! I was so proud of the Celtic flag team for making the union flag, over on r/Ireland, and it was so cool of Omori to protect the Cornish flag right below them. It was like their artwork was watching over ours
I love how it all kept changing. At the start everyone was mad because the flags were taking up too much space. But then the flag art came and with the added space and colours it all became so complex and wholesome
I'm still mad for the flags that took up so much space, imagine all the cool pixel art and separate communities that could've been placed in the absolutely massive area that just the single region of France took up
Even though the Jacksepticeye community isn't as close as before, and I wasn't subscribed at that time, the community really holds a place in my heart now - both Jack and the fans have a place in my heart. The people are nice, and I got into creating fanart because of Jack's community. It's such a beautiful thing. ❤ EDIT: Thank you for all the likes! 😊
My favorite things to come out of r/place: 1. The simple fact that people are so helpful and supportive of communities around them 2. Timelapse videos of The Void consuming and spreading over the canvas 3. The creative little details hidden everywhere with their own story to tell
People are gonna look back at this in the future and at first glance they’ll think it’s weird that there isn’t a huge Among Us section because of how big the game got, but then they’ll realize that the entire thing is made of little crew mates
I would think that upon first inspection nobody would notice and when looking closer would be confused af to realize there's these tiny creatures everywhere
15:21 Jack if you see this, your right the community is not the same, but we’re as afraid as you, we change you change, but at the end of the day, a lot of people still watch your videos, change is scary but, but you still have a massive community, you formed a lot of people into what they are today, maybe it’s not the same but you know for a fact you know inflicted in the lives of MANY ily jack
As someone who has put a lot into omori, and I can say it’s absolutely worth it. Omori definitely changed my life, I think for the better, and really got me inspired to draw again after about a half year of artblock. Even the “parts that drag on” are such a delight, and it’s only really to balance out the game with lighter tones (so it isn’t all just misery). It’s only really similar to undertale because both games has earthbound inspirations, otherwise it’s a whole different beast entirely. Even if you don’t decide to play it on the channel, I wholeheartedly recommend playing it in your own time!
i really would enjoy seeing him play as well! it was so crazy cause at the start of the video i wanted to comment suggesting he play omori since it randomly popped in my head not knowing he was gonna bring it up! it is absolutely his decision of course but the game is so amazingly made and i would love to see his comments and reactions to omori!
Its really cool to see how far the internet has come with accepting lgbtq+, there were pride flags all over the canvas untouched. Nice to see how the internet has matured.
not really lmao, there's multiple ironic meme subreddits (r/shitposting, r/moldymemes, r/squareposting) and those communities have a joke going on pretending to be homophobes and racists, and it's all fun and games but a small percentage takes all that ironic bs seriously and genuinely think being homophobic and racist is cool and they tried multiple times to black out the trans flag, etc
i’ve been working in the r/omori community, we have two areas on the canvas and it’s excellent! i want to call attention especially to how a community as massive as germany is came to a compromise with us despite our smaller size. it’s honestly such an interesting glimpse into community :)
I saw both pieces! I love them so much cause I watched someone's playthrough of Omori and I fell in love with the game! I'm glad to see that people came together to create such beautiful pieces.
I completely agree with what Jack was saying about streamers, the giant French flag that is in the bottom left corner on the map wasn't done by r/France or whatever their subreddit is called, it was done by 3 french streamers and people got really angry at the French subreddit unnecessarily
I watched that live. Those streamers kept making their flag bigger and bigger, and their communities started to become more and more toxic. They then started to bridgade other communities (especially HasanAbi's community. They hate raid-ed his Twitch and his Discord) and went to destroy other community's work for fun. Was pretty awful.
The French streaming community isn't even bad. These are the same guys who reunite each year around october for what has become Twitch's biggest charity event. They were just too greedy at first, and people started trashtalking them and said they were using bots (which isn't the case, they're using overlays), which only served to fan the flames.
@@lnuma92 that's sucks, I wasn't there to watch it live, the whole of r/place I've just been helping a small community I'm in make something small somewhere so all I know is stuff I've heard while organising that, but it seems like it was even worse than I heard
@Royce Bracket Those same streamers joint together for charity every year doesn't justify how they then proceed to beckon to their community to bridgade other streamers. Hasan's Twitch chat and Discord got hate-raided(to what he almost had to lock both for the rest of his stream), Miskif's community got hate raided, and even El Rubius's community got caught a bit in the cross-fire. Hate-raids are now a permanent bannable offense on Twitch and it's against Terms of Service.
"Silksong has a massive community since they've been blueballed for all eternity" [4:17] Thanks for bringing the spotlight onto us, Jack Most people have already gave up, but I'm one of the guys that still think Valve cares about TF2. So of course I'm still here just to suffer.
I remember when Silksong was just an expansion pack. Now we're out here getting blueballed for like the fourth year in a row. No voice to cry suffering.
@@aydenmaxwell8759 I was working with Deltarune's plushie team the whole time as well. I remember when a wave of rogue Europeans suddenly swept across a region of the canvas and viciously attacked us and our neighbors but we still held out and repelled their offensive. Watching our teams be so well-coordinated that we reacted as quickly and effectively as we did was amazing.
its not on you or us, Jack. The bigger communities get, the lesser the cohesion is. Don’t be sad that the community is less cohesive, be happy that you are reaching more and more people every day and making them happy doing so. Thank you.
As an Italian I'm proud of the Italian community for putting Falcone and Borsellino in it (just above the pizza one). They were two magistrates who were killed (along with their protective details) by the mafia because they were trying to stop the organized crime rings. They became legends and symbols of justice, and it's good to see them immortalized here.
"its cool to see what sticks in peoples hearts and stands the test of time." I love this sentiment, I just wish I didn't know about the rampant bots being the actual reasons anything huge is sticking around on that board.
yeah it was so wack seeing xqc trying with over 200k people trying to destroy stuff and just seeing all the places just absolutely ABUSING the bots. it was so blatant too, so many of the bots has pixel or pix or pic in their names, and all the [word]__[word]___[number] names. how is xqc better at finding bots than reddit is. this is about people, not robots
@@electricheartpony yeah most places seemed to be fairly defended and seemed reasonable, but like one out of 5 were just insanely hard to crack for no reason and were filled with OBVIOUS bot names. im only mad at those spots. i freaking love all the other communities tho that are all legit and just making art, like my smashbros team and the hiphopheads. shit like the flags are cringe tho, so heavily botted its not even FUNNY
Most small commutators aren’t using bots, I have been on a lot of discords for different indie games and none of them are using bots. Osu and some flags are for sure though.

This art peace makes me have more faith in humanity and makes me feel like i'm not alone, that people do have the same interests as me it's just that I haven't looked hard enough. I love this art peace I think it really brings out the best in our generation. That even though there's so much bad shit in the world we can still bond over the things that we love and are proud of. I used to be ashamed for the things that I liked because other people weren't into it thought it was weird or just didn't get but seeing some fandoms in the art even if they were really small, just made me feel happy.
Iirc Marvel didn't have a solidified home base for organisation, that's why there's barely any Marvel stuff on there despite it being one of the most popular franchises in this age
r/place is honestly a nice social view of how people can bond together and create amazing art, or destroy it with admins not following the 5 minute gap and banning everyone who places a pixel on top of theirs
well, sometimes shoutout to one point where literally the entire star wars poster was turned into amoguses, including replacing every letter of the "R/STARWARSPLACE" text with them
You could really use r/place as a snapshot of the internet at the time it was made. A strange community made time capsule that can let you come back to it years from now and reflect on how things used to be.
It's truly insane and incredible to see stuff like this come up, and as you're looking around, there's always something new and different to see in this massive piece. It really is its own form of art where it has you staring for hours seeing content for things both familiar, and completely new to you. Theres old memes, and new memes coexisting. Smaller fandoms forming alliances to stand together against the bigger fandoms, and it really is a perfect demonstration of what happens when millions of people come together and have free reign over a canvas. It really is a beautiful art piece that perfectly captures the internet in one screenshot, and hopefully Reddit decides to do more of these, possibly every year or so
During the some of the most difficult times of my life, when I lost my babies (my 2 cats; one of them died 2 years ago, and one them died a couple of days ago), the only thing that could distract me from all the pain was watching Seán’s videos. It’s honestly so cool to see everything grow and to watch these communities work together to build something so cool. It’s been so fun, I wish there were more things like this. It’s so cool to see all these different communities from all across the world💕
Yes, I'm part of the Terraria Community and we are so happy for the Moon Lord that survived through everything that's happened Edit: In the middle of these spammers I would also like to say that back when it first happened r/place was one of my favorite things on the internet, and to this day it still is

It's amazing to see people from different communities or fandoms working together to create an amazing cluster of art. Truly incredible. Great work of effort to the people who've contributed.
7:55 that duck picture is a tribute to Reckful. He was one of the first big streamers ever on twitch and he sadly killed himself in 2020. He was such a honest and open person and very funny, he was one of the best rogues in WoW and he went on to play hearthstone and get good there too. His irl streams after that were my favourites to watch look up reckful pokemon go or reckful Japan some of his best and most fun streams his Japan streams were something else soo fun to watch. Also his Spain streams with forsen and nani were amazing too. Before he died he was working on a game called everland where he hired people from his twitch chat and was building a whole game with his chat and everything, you can look up a stream of him playing It and showing how much they've done.
Was it life struggles, or maybe the pressure? Was he harassed like so many are on the internet? No matter what the reasoning it’s sad. They say that usually the happiest people are the most depressed like Robin Williams.
@@watcherwhowatches6725 that's true yeah reckfuls depression haunted him for decades and he was very open about it on his stream about his depression and trolls would tell him to kys cus they're evil. There's a famous clip of reckful reacting to his chat spamming kys and he cries and just asks them to stop it's really sad.
SOmething that is really nice about r/place is the history behind each area, that berserk area originally was a small berserk sign, then expanded to include the Godslayer, and eventually expanded upwards to include Guts in the mural. It's crazy how it went from something small to something big in a relatively short time.
As someone who's put a lot into Omori, I can safely say that if you aren't big about subtlety or analyzing things, the game may not be the best to play on your channel. Totally recommend at least playing it in your spare time though. Omori is INSANELY condensed and every part of the game has a purpose or reason to be there, it just comes down to you figuring it out. There is so much to unpack and put together to the point where even the smallest of things have there purpose in the grand scheme of things. It's not like Undertale, but it is it's own beast entirely and has one of the best art styles I've seen in a while.
Vouch Man, the omori community is bigger than I expected! So many comments that go from getting jack to play it to even just simply appreciating the fact that he even mentioned it. Also yeah great game
@@VideoCrafting23 Yeah it was really cool seeing the big omori presence on r/place. I think it's partly because of how large the omori community is, but also the centralization was really good, with the mods corralling everyone together as soldiers and making orders on what to build what to fight for, etc.
I feel like this shouldn't be yearly, like this one it wasnt expected but communities formed almost immediately after it opened. Seeing all the stuff happening over the years in one canvas is just amazing
They gave advance warning this year, that's why communities were ready to go from the start compared to the first one where no one had anything planned.
I was part of the Elden Ring and Hollow Knight collab! There was a lot of effort put into making Hornet, the Ring, Ranni and the Knight as well as the Radiance and The Erdtree. We're really happy you noticed it and we hope their brought you some joy, this is why we did all this. Though they may have wiped the canvas in the end, I thought it was an incredible thing that happened this weekend and it was great seeing all those community come together, the Berserk one in particular really hit me. Thanks for this wonderful video.
As a belgian I'm still laughing at the "omleiding" one. 😂🤣 Also, the vertical one is Belgium, the horizontal one is germany. 🇧🇪 = Belgium, 🇩🇪 = germany. A lot of people get confused by the flags, but that's okay. Just wanted to show the difference (the colors are in a different order).
Now I can't get the thought of Belgium being a batesian mimic of Germany lol (like a king snake mimicking colouration of a coral snake to avoid predators)
@Kosmos Garden Our community was early apparently (there's a timelapse on Reddit and Belgium was already on there in the beginning). Haha, its funny to see how many people are confused by the flag, but that's okay (I only know the meaning of our flag, though). Germany indeed has a big community, I saw it in the timelapse. Super cool! Its just funny to see it all develop. Besides, if someone attacks the flag we'll send JCVD. 🤣😂
@@hollystepp3735 Haha. Amazing. 🤣😂 I know that there's a caterpillar that has a butt that looks like the front (so that the birds wouldn't attack them as they think "hey, they can see us. Damn). Or something along those lines. I want to be the caterpillar butt, please. 🤣😂
the amount of support communities give other communities on it is incredible, a community im part of had a take over attempt and our allies came around to defend us and our little pixel art
There is no right way that streamers "should be" treating it, don't make up arbitrary rules where there are none. The reason people get death threats over r/place is exactly because people make up arbitrary rights and wrongs in their minds where there are none.
@@ProOrLooser ig I should clarify I meant how I feel they should treat it. I'm not death threating anyone, I even found some of x's streams entertaining
7:53 that art was organised by streamers and made in memorial to Reckful (he had a plushy duck that played a big part in his streams). Nice to see that people like it
It was really cool to participate in this. There are so many memes created from it and it's fun to be part of the group of people that actually experienced everything.
I worked on the elden ring pieces with others. We helped the blood Bourne community build their space at 10:34 and seeing their reaction to jack’s video on the discord server was one of my favorite moments of the event.
even the tiny tribute to night in the woods near jacks symbol, it's so amazing seeing all these communities of franchises and games and movies all coming together and respecting one another is fucking incredible and it's one of the very rare beauties of the internet xx
I love how on the internet people have different opinions and usually clash over things they do not agree on and there are obviously parts of the internet that work well together But when you give the internet a canvas... everyone just suddenly becomes kind towards eachother or at least work together
While true, there were also wars fought for this thing, the polish were attacking the Mexicans and others, then there were alliances and a lot of discord ambassadors involved lol
yeah totally kind, with communities of certain countries using bots to destroy the art of other countries, just because they hate them. With streamers directing the destruction of art so they can push their small egos. It's a sad metaphor about the state of the Internet that this get's declared 'wholesome' and 'kind' by the winners, ignoring what's lost on the path of their destruction.
people standing up for others was one of the best things about it, a lot of people attacked the trans flag when it appeared but people kept rebuilding it and other stuff like that is amazing
Hey Jack, Thanks for paying some attention to our Foo Fighters/ Taylor Hawkins tribute. We (Foo Fighters discord members) got helped by streamer Esfand after we told him we had been looking for a spot for 2 days. We just want to memorialize Taylor and make this small gesture in his honour.
OMORI is a game that has kept me thinking about it years after playing it. l got it when it first came out and I still cannot get the story out of my head. Its a banger game on it's own, even without the touching story and beautiful soundtrack. Even if you don't finish it, I'd highly recommend you play it, either on or off-camera. It makes me so happy to see all of these comments about OMORI on here. I'm not sure who's out there saying its really boring and drawn out. There is a lot of headspace gameplay, (aka where a lot of the actual RPG part will be) but I don't think people will care too much if you cut a lot of that out. There's still a good balance between classical RPG and story progression though. I'd say its definitely worth your time and commitment!
I would /love/ it if Jack tried playing Omori. Just him recognizing the game exists made me so happy. even if he didn't finish it because of how long it is and the multiple endings, it's genuinely such an amazing game and experience to go through. Words cannot describe how much i literally love the characters, development, and ofc the soundtrack. i hope he at least considers it
I’m happy he brought it up! Ever since I got into the game I was surprised he hasn’t played it at all even though it’s been around two years since it came out- I hope he plays it! 10/10 Such a good game!!
I love how the entire community fought back against xqc, rebuilding the original logos and putting a clown nose on his logos, and when he finally logged off they got rid of his logo and brought in real art.
@@monkey_blu xqc had 15k REAL soldiers, you all just have fatty bot numbers. we litterally cant bot its impossible for a void community to bot. oh no real people are bad but bots are 100% a-ok. i will say tho he kinda desrved the red nose
Ya it was fun to help XQC with his void, I prefer new art to pop up and the void helps recycle the canvas. It was pretty fun giving XQC a clown nose too tho lol
XqC is definitely the heels (wrestlers who intentionally garner hate) of R/place. Its beautiful how people banded together to stand together against XqC unwashed barbarian horde. Im really glad of his existence, definitely the main actor who made r/place as popular right now. Because I bet you, there are a lot of people get into r/place after friends asked them to defend their community from XqC.
It's crazy to think that I have been watching Jacks videos since 2016. I turned 30 this year. I don't have as much free time to watch every video right away anymore, but I still come back whenever I can to try and catch up. My memories of the videos from back then are very vivid yet. We are all still here, just grown up. Thanks for doing what you do Sean. You still put a smile on my face every time.
I love how Among Us went from an invasive species on the canvas to a core piece of every big artwork
as part of the foxhole community on QRF, there was a constant meme of someone who tried to put an amongi on our second art piece who went on our subreddit to complain that they couldn't even get two pixels down during our peak hours, but when we started loosing people to sleep and overall loss of interest (while that one was minimal) people kept noticing that they kept showing up, making theories on what they were. eventually the general consensus was that it was a fungus as (due to us mostly using black and grey for our colors) would be attracted to our pieces as they were the perfect place for fungus to grow
Dubbing Among Us as an invasive species is hilarious
Amongus isn't an invasive species, it's a meme in Darwin's definition of the word. An infective idea, passed on by carriers
Fungus Amongus
Porque no los dos?
He actually forgotten to explain that placing pixels takes 5 minutes per account, which makes this event even more super mesmerizing. With you alone you might even be able to only create a 4 pixel art in 20 minutes, but with people collaborating just to create an art with that kind of limitation timer, and defending that art from griefers? The picure of a duck sitting on a chair is dedicated to a streamer named Reckful. He was a WOW streamer and one of the pioneers of streaming in general. He sadly passed away in 2020 so the streaming community made a tribute to him. He used to put a duck on his chair when he left his setup for monent. He had a huge impact on streaming. I think the most interesting thing was how alliances formed between smaller communities to defend each other because they didn't individually have the manpower of osu! or the giant country flags.

Jack, we are all growing up now. Your entire fanbase is getting older as we all mature. You have shifted your content style overtime to fit the change extremely well. We don't have the same amount of time now to really stay together as a community much outside of the videos.

It's an amazing experience.
literally played through the game almost 10 times, i could NOT recommend it more. not exaggerating, but this game changed my whole life. i used my savings to buy it, bought OFFICIAL merch, drew about 125 pieces of fan art or drawings inspired by it, based my oc around the main character, made my nickname related to omori, and that’s not even all of it. this game… this game is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me… i have a special spot in my heart for indie games and music, and this was just the perfect game. it has great art, great music, and a great story. ah, i may have gone overboard and nerded out a lil bit… but basically, omori is one of the best, if not THE best indie RPG games ever.
true
I wish people would not compare it to Undertale though. I understand why they do, but they are very different. It sets an expectation for the game that doesn't really work. MatPat tried to spare in battle because he thought that since it was like Undertale sparing is good and fighting is bad. He did not deserve to get absolutely flamed for it, but it did happen because the expectation was there.
But both are fantastic games in their own right.

Jack's reaction to r/Place and his community is so wholesome.

I think it's poetic how communities from absolutely HUGE pieces of media, like Undertale and DeltaRune, despite succeeding at collaboration, are still rivaled by the raw, but subtle, strength of the Among Us Crewmate
Jack has a point with how his community might not be as tight-knit anymore, but hey, that doesn't mean that the bond of the fans has grown weaker, people still love sticking around to this day, and that's kinda beautiful

And every flag is just a blob
I was proud to see it got included too. These school lasted from 1894 to 1997. One grave contained something around 200+ bodies... you can't help but wonder how many more there was and how atrocious the living conditions were.
@@cn2673 no, a lot of the graves were simply never marked, just dig a hole and dump the bodies
Literally just tree roots. Stop spreading disinformation.

14:04 the coolest part about this is how the bullet holes are in the same recoil pattern as in-game
I love how it all kept changing. At the start everyone was mad because the flags were taking up too much space. But then the flag art came and with the added space and colours it all became so complex and wholesome
I'm still mad for the flags that took up so much space, imagine all the cool pixel art and separate communities that could've been placed in the absolutely massive area that just the single region of France took up
The French ended up being greifed at the very end too so it doesn't even look cool anyway

@Royce Bracket
Those same streamers joint together for charity every year doesn't justify how they then proceed to beckon to their community to bridgade other streamers. Hasan's Twitch chat and Discord got hate-raided(to what he almost had to lock both for the rest of his stream), Miskif's community got hate raided, and even El Rubius's community got caught a bit in the cross-fire.
It still helps me to distract myself and kinda makes me smile again. Thank you jack❤️

Jack you deserve a spot on the canvas. You've done more for your community than you realize
It’s honestly so cool to see everything grow and to watch these communities work together to build something so cool. It’s been so fun, I wish there were more things like this. It’s so cool to see all these different communities from all across the world💕

Yes, I'm part of the Terraria Community and we are so happy for the Moon Lord that survived through everything that's happened
Edit: In the middle of these spammers I would also like to say that back when it first happened r/place was one of my favorite things on the internet, and to this day it still is
Omg so many bots
Yeah, but then there's the times when they deleted Genshin Impact on the canvas... Welp
@@dirtydeedsdirtcheep3007 Hahaha, When it turned to Genshrek I heard a lot of genshin fans were actually happy with that, now it's just gone but there is a lot of genshin characters in the bottom right corner
@@dabroster8427 I heard from another commentor here his chat always told him to kill himself "as a joke" but then he really did it.
Rainbow Dash got a pretty huge spot on the canvas! As well she should.
@@winter2716 9 pony pieces in total! We got 2 big Derpys and Trixie on the trans flag
@@darkdoubloontv8906 Wow, really? I must have missed that.
Vouch
Man, the omori community is bigger than I expected! So many comments that go from getting jack to play it to even just simply appreciating the fact that he even mentioned it.
Also yeah great game
@@VideoCrafting23 oh hey funny seeing you here bahah
@@VideoCrafting23 Yeah it was really cool seeing the big omori presence on r/place. I think it's partly because of how large the omori community is, but also the centralization was really good, with the mods corralling everyone together as soldiers and making orders on what to build what to fight for, etc.
Honestly I don't think is that necessary to analyze everything to enjoy the game, the more you play the more you understand the story and everything
I love how everybody- including Jack- mistakes the Belgian flag as a vertical German flag.
I think that the Germans helped with the Belgian flag, to be fair.
We had an amazing community and it was so much fun to work with you and others until the very poetic end. We shall enter r place no longer.
wholesome!
As a belgian I'm still laughing at the "omleiding" one. 😂🤣
Also, the vertical one is Belgium, the horizontal one is germany. 🇧🇪 = Belgium, 🇩🇪 = germany. A lot of people get confused by the flags, but that's okay. Just wanted to show the difference (the colors are in a different order).
the belgium part was so cool, i was in one of the squares next to it, it was lovely
@@oneirataxia666 Oh cool! You where there? Did you make an image?
@@hollystepp3735 Haha. Amazing. 🤣😂 I know that there's a caterpillar that has a butt that looks like the front (so that the birds wouldn't attack them as they think "hey, they can see us. Damn). Or something along those lines. I want to be the caterpillar butt, please. 🤣😂
3:20 I love how there's countries and streamers everywhere then there's just Gol.D.Roger laughing.
the amount of support communities give other communities on it is incredible, a community im part of had a take over attempt and our allies came around to defend us and our little pixel art
Ludwigs stream was a perfect example of how streamers should be treating place. It was also super fun to create cool art with the community
There is no right way that streamers "should be" treating it, don't make up arbitrary rules where there are none. The reason people get death threats over r/place is exactly because people make up arbitrary rights and wrongs in their minds where there are none.
@@ProOrLooser Bro, there's streamers using bots just to place their logos. Pretty cringe
@@ProOrLooser ig I should clarify I meant how I feel they should treat it. I'm not death threating anyone, I even found some of x's streams entertaining

It was really cool to participate in this. There are so many memes created from it and it's fun to be part of the group of people that actually experienced everything.

15:00 as a long time fan who can barely occasionally show up to Jack's videos, this Is the most sincere thing I've heard from him, we love you Jack.
I love how on the internet people have different opinions and usually clash over things they do not agree on and there are obviously parts of the internet that work well together
But when you give the internet a canvas... everyone just suddenly becomes kind towards eachother or at least work together
Words cannot describe how much i literally love the characters, development, and ofc the soundtrack. i hope he at least considers it

i hope hed at least see the true ending! the ending is really what makes the game

I love the fact he kept saying "those are bots" xD
OSU allied themselves with their neighbors AND basically adjacent weeb communities, put those numbers into perspective and the xQc chat is minuscule.
