    I did one random one, "Ron Weasley in Fisher Price car," wanting something like him in the red one with the yellow top that people get for their kids to run around the yard in. The AI made it look like there was a little Ron Weasley Little People figure, in a bunch of the Little People cars. I'm in Midjourney and you'll probably be fine. I'm an illustrator too but the prompts are still limited in an odd way. Especially composition is a problem, most of it is perfectly centered and rarely in an actual interesting composition. Also once it gets difficult you don't know what you're going to get. It won't work well if you need to be specific and have requirements. For example a cyberpunk neon cat with red eyes and gold earrings probably won't get red eyes and gold earrings.

      I think that you, as an artist, will still be quite valuable in the world, because an AI lacks emotion and any form of emotional connection with art. Sure, they look good, but at the same time, it’s generic. Sometimes a little boring. There is no human attached to the artwork, it’s a program.
      Keep creating art! Don’t let some AI take what you enjoy away from you. I think the AI will be used as a tool, but not a replacement of valuable artists such as yourself

It's great to be able to create things so quickly, but for people who truly enjoy the act of painting itself and aren't just in it for the results, it's a serious punch to the gut that we'll have far less jobs and opportunities to do that.

    • @MatthewBaka
      @MatthewBaka Год назад

      This is technological progress, it's happened since the dawn of time. Technology allows us to produce more with less labor, freeing up people to do other tasks. 99% of people used to be farmers and now only 1% are thanks to technology. At one point in time all the farmers complained about less farmers being needed, but now we have engineers, doctors, delivery drivers, programmers, so many jobs that help make our quality of life so much better. Some farmers really liked to farm but the increase in automation isn't just better for society, it's also inevitable.

    • @zephyr4254
      @zephyr4254 Год назад +3

      @@MatthewBaka the same logic really doesn't apply the same when it comes to art. Art is art because people make it and express things with it. Imagine an AI-generated song. It'd lack a LOT of the meaning that most music has just because a human didn't make it. Idk if you're an artist or have made art at all, but artists are concerned for both moral and practical reasons. I don't want to dump a multi-paragraph rant on you in a youtube comments section but i'd encourage you to look into the concerns that real human artists have about it.

Knowing they can eventually go to an AI generator and get it for free is even more upsetting - and genuinely depressing - for a creative person. If you were to give midjourney an incredibly detailed and niche prompt, it will give you a nice looking image that's missing a lot of the details you described. It mainly excels in imitating general concepts in a pleasing art style. It works well with single word prompts especially, but that's not too impressive considering they're vague prompts to begin with and thus can't really have "wrong" interpretations. I've already gotten the "AI will replace artists" comment once or twice around the time of the previous AI photo generation hype, and im worried people are genuinely going to think you can replace artists with AI. Learning to evolve with the tech is one of the most important ways of the modern artist imo, use that shit and squeeze the fuck outta it until you get shit. When life gives you lemons make some goddamn goodass lemonade! There's only so much detail that you can give an AI. Remember, this AI is only replicating what exists. Sure, the crazy stuff does it well, but it's not even creating something truly new, it's only building from what it has already existing. That's why you can't give it such complicated specifications, because then it'd become VERY janky.

      @@exist4046 well, anything anyone has ever made is just something replicated from what they already know and what they know exists. Thats how everything works. We make stuff and things and art based on what we know, see, hear and feel/etc. Eventually AI will genuinely be able to create art just as a human would. Humans are basically just very very complex and intelligent AI or I guess you could say AI is/are just dumbed down humans but soon enough they will become just as smart and even smarter then us, eventually AI and machines will be able to do everything a human can but better AND more. The only real difference is that we are organic and that's mostly a downside because if or more like when we finally destroy our planet, we will die off while AI will continue on.

If you look at a digital painting made by a human, then despite the medium you can speculate on what was a the artist thinking about, what choices they made or what symbolism they wanted to portray. If you look at an AI generated painting all you can speculate on is “what was the prompt?” even if the piece looks beautiful and meaningful.

      @@thebacteriawasbeatentodeath eh, I don't agree honestly. Even with the advanced shit there's not enough actual control over what exactly it creates in the end, and there's only so much information it can be given. I'm an artist too, and I'm honestly stoked for this shit. Maybe not to the whole public, but releasing it for use under very specific guidelines, regulations, and specified licensing would be so fucking cool. There won't be some mass movement toward only AI art, people understand what goes into ACTUAL artwork, and besides that AI can only build off of what is existing, really, it can't just make something totally new and original. If anything this sort of AI will mostly be used for abstract things, creating eldritch horror in HD, and making concept artwork for buildings, animals, and landscapes quickly so that the artist doesn't need to waste all their time on just the concept art and instead quickly begin modeling, painting, coding, etc., what they want.

      @@thebacteriawasbeatentodeath exactly! Even us humans aren't original technically "original" or "new". We are just replicated from our parents genes. That's just how life and everything is. AI will eventually be able to do anything a human can do but better and MORE. It can be a frightening thought but it's just the truth.

As someone who’s not an artist, this seems like a really cool way to show your friends how terrifying the dimly lit, half flooded, liminal as hell space, public bathroom that’s been a recurring setting in your dreams for years is! Maybe that’s just me.

I also think releasing it to the public so that hundreds if not thousands of people will use it and write the weirdest and most random prompts is a great way to help train it and develop it
