Hey @richpin06a Just wanted to let you know I am tackling a similar project right now on my 2004 Ford Explorer 6 cylinder. The passenger window detached from those 2 mounting brackets that hold the actual glass. The bracket consists of 2 pieces 1 black and the other silver and are riveted together. In a scenario like mine where the glass is detached you can just find the release mechanism and they both pop right out and you can very easily drill out that rivet while you have the bracket in a vise or something. Too bad the glass has to be detached for this to work because it makes the job SO MUCH easier. Hope this helps someone :) Oh BTW for the folks out there like me who need to reattach the glass to the brackets JB Weld makes a good epoxy for mating together glass and metal. I spent a bunch of time researching the best way to glue glass to metal and thats what I came up with. Best of luck to all you backyard mechs!!!!
Chad Wilamowski hope you figured it out, Chad. I had to replace one that the motor worked, but the cables were jammed. I had to cut the cables to close the window. After that, it was a matter of replacing the regulator assembly
Yeah fixed my window!! So the problem was my grand daughter was playing with window button and held button down. You showed me how to remove connectors and I thought hmmmm, let me make sure the up & down button has no issue before taking all of it apart. Sure enough, underneath the up & down button the very tiny tiny plastic that hit the small metal plates to initiate window movements had melted. So just had to replace up & down button!
Hi, I have a ford explorer and 2 of my windows won’t stay up.. what kind of door stopper are you using? I need this unit I can get it repaired.. thank you.
Why the removal of the regulator ? it sems like it was going up and down. Did I miss something? My problem have to do with the glued part of the glass that after so many miles the glass came off the rail…is there another video placing things back ??? Thank you for your video it is helpful, I liked and subscribed also. JCT:)
Not a fun job drilling out ribbits and having to replace them with bolts. I wander if the dealership parts come with ribbits so you don't have to use bolts?
Do you have any information on where to buy that model regulator?I bought one online and the motor for the model in this video does not line up with my newly purchased window regulator.
Ooow i didnt like that design, very thin metal and rivits to connect it to the window, cheap penny pinching :-(. Ive watched all your regulator vids and i cant remember a regulator as cheap as that one. Another battle won :-)
Thank you for sharing this information. You are doing your part to fend off obsolescence and I appreciate your efforts.
I appreciate that
