I love that you handed out rod caps to your fans. Racers have no idea how great used up parts are to the fans as a souvenir to help remind them of a great time at the track, years down the road from now.
It's raining peckers on you my friend bad luck so far this year feel like it's gonna turn around soon and gv you a final very soon.you have my prayers and support
I never saw the remnants of an explosion up close and dissected like that. Pretty astonishing! Glad you are ok and able to smile afterwards. Keep diggin!
Hey I just wanted to give a shout out to Mr Stringer. Thanks for your dedication to the sport and your positive attitude in stressful situations. Behind the scenes is where you do your job and I hope your team appreciates your efforts.
The concussive force involved when the engine blows must be hard to take. Glad your headache wasn't disabling. Great video, as always. Really appreciate the detailed look at the aftermath, impressive! The team really came through and got it together to jump up qual position. And there was more left, since you shut off slightly early. Y'all the best!!
Clay you the man brother, Blowed up and still ran an awesome number!! You and your team had an awesome weekend ran good and competitive and too loose by .0005 of a second I see things improving for you guys!! Jim O is getting the handle on things and figuring it out be patient!! I cannot wait to see you guys win; I know Id cry when you do. You're so positive and you and your team deserve it so much!! Keep the content coming and GOD bless!!!
Only getting to make one pass down the track wasn't a good handle on things clay keep up the great work bro the direction you and your team are heading towards keep it up and congrats to you and your crew chief and great work and hustle by every single one of yall an exceptional great team keep it up
I said Holly Molly when I seen the motor explode to Clay that was scary on video I can't even imagine what you felt . Thank you for posting all the great videos.
You are awesome! The amount of respect you get from everyone shows how respectful you are. You said you are 56 and I think you said you have been married for 37 years. We are both 57 and have been married for 38 years. I would pay the shipping for one of those cylinder heads to hang on our shops wall. Thank you for the videos.
Congratulations and kudos to the whole team. Stellar effort on the rebuild.. Extremely cool to see the analytics of your run compared. It was on a pass for sure. J Swap Jason.
I hope things turn around for you clay, I hate seeing it turn out like this, I have high hopes that jim o can make it happen, you guys work hard for it and deserve it. Good luck in brainerd this weekend!
Thank god you are safe and well, but it's a credit to the designers who built in all these safety features in the race car. I'm just astounded that you managed to keep her in a straight line after the explosion, and more so you squeezed those huge balls of steel into a fire suit and back into the same dragster the next day and go full tilt again. Much respect and best wishes from Scotland
Love the videos Clay, especially the "In trailer chatter" & analysis, I work on a sportsman car in Australia & that's one of my favourite parts of the meeting. I've watched a lot of George Bryce videos & he's a big fan of the incremental time sheet. Glad the headache cleared & keep the awesome videos coming, good luck to you & the whole team.
Clay, your living the dream. I had that choice back in the day but went in a different direction, Now after all of that is behind me, Im finally doing what I always wished I did. At 69 I have plenty of life left.
instead of recycling the carnage, use it as sub promo gifts. The average person never gets a chance to have carnage leftovers. I knew an Indy car builder here in Portland, (Vollstedt), when I was much younger & used to go do scut work just to hang around. He'd been in the Indy game a long time when I met him. He was the nicest guy, your friendliness reminds me of him. I met him at a swap meet, & we hit it off. Damned if he didn't tell me where his shop was, and invite me to drop by anytime. I brought home a lot of carnage gifts. My gearhead friends would always go nuts when I shared/regifted. Sat w- him & his wife when he & another friend, former Oregon head baseball coach, Mel Krause, were inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame. Thanks for bringing back a couple of good memories for an old man. Haven't thought of either for some time. GeoD
Agreed. Antron is my second favorite driver. Antron and Clay have one big thing in common, and it's not the size of their fire suits. Do you know what it is?
Those heads look very fixable. I used to maintain the head on our shop blown alky engine and I have never seen a valve sucked into the port before like that. Seen titanium valves bent like pretzels, and embedded in the head, but never sucked into a port. Can only imagine that happened from the lean out. Got the valve head so hot that the valve become malleable, deforming the head, and the spring pressure pulled it past the seat. Got to love this channel, always learning something new.
Awesome effort from the whole team. From major carnage to a potential fastest pass the next outing. A display of true professionalism. Thanks Clay for another awesome video. BTW, I think that engine detonation was the closest thing that I have seen to cause you to almost not smile, lol.
Clay i only been following 4-6 weeks & been getting to know you through these old races and i really love your style your very informative and entertaining all in one ! Thanks to kevin @KSR for connecting me with your channel last month I get to watch more racing that i love !
As a fan of top fuel for many, many, many years it's great to see behind the scenes how a team runs. Especially on a small budget (relatively small), Antron Brown seems to be a good bloke also.
Awesome job your whole team is doing!!! Breaking part's is part of the game, that's why y'all got extras!! Quick idea, maybe for some lucky fans, start including a couple of the broken pieces in merch orders. Kinda like Steve Morris did with the "connecting rod mass exodus"from the wagon.... jus a thought...keep on #stompinthatloudpedal-wegotmorebulletsinthetrailer/wegooood!!!!
Jim and the team are headed in the right direction. All the little things add up as each day passes. It’s all about working towards continuous improvement. There’s not a TF driver present or pass that wouldn’t be proud of the team your organization has built.
Dang Clay, you detonated that bullet. Bloey! Glad you are safe. That one was was a big boom I've seen, biggest I've see you have in forever. Torque it down and clobber them in the finals. #Stomp on that load pedal! Be safe!
Clay you are making me a much bigger NHRA fan. Thanks for letting us into your backseat! Those roundy-round helmet-wearers just show up to wreck the other guys' 200k rig. Ain't their's and there are a dozen more back at the shop. Don't be an owner. Not so for your racin'. Your clutch person is so educational to watch. The debrief's need to stay for sure. I wanna say GO GIRL POWER, and NHRA is one of the few elite sports places I can actually see that each week. Everyone spread the word!
You've made a fan out of me Clay. I remember the first time I witnessed the raw power of top fuel years ago with my dad at heartland park Topeka. Good luck in your career sir, wish your team the best.
Jeezzzzz that was a big boom .that was bigger than the other guy on Sunday wow!!! It was nice to shake hands and wish you luck!!! .0005 Jeezzzzz that was close hell of a race . Sometimes there's just not enough words. 😕
Clay, the post-mortem on the motor was fascinating. Could you talk more about the various safety systems that held the pieces together and also protected you from the detonation?
Really a very cool video and I have a lot of respect for this man and his out look on things for Top Fuel Racing , it’s the real way of showing a very true sportsman and his team is really a grand bunch
Love the behind the scenes Clay. Glad your okay. Hopefully y’all’s luck turns to the positive soon. I caught someone else’s video of the engine pop. Just love your side better though. First and foremost happy your okay. Great run in Q3,happy for you and your team. Such a great group of people working with you. Very down to earth guys and gals.
What a great turn around, awesome job to all involved. Clay, you should give the injector hat (what’s left of it) away for the 50,000 follower mark. 😬👍 A great incentive for more people to follow. 💥💥💥
I love that you handed out rod caps to your fans. Racers have no idea how great used up parts are to the fans as a souvenir to help remind them of a great time at the track, years down the road from now.
Well Mr Millican you certainly made a mess of that! I take Mr Stringer has deep pockets😁💲💲
Saw the picture of this the other day. Have been waiting for you to put this out.
Glad you're good.
Thank you.
Clay and your team rocks! Love the inside look at everything! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
😁😁😁
Great candid update , so interesting. Very nice to give that fan the piece of memorabilia . Thanks Clay.
50 years and its still" yes Dear what do you need Dear" :)
I love Alan’s descriptions of “KerPOW..kerPOP..& kerPLOOEY”
Thank God you were sitting in front of it. That could have been messy. Sorry for the tough break.
Ouch!!!!!!!
I hate it when our internal parts end up external
Nice Q3🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
It's raining peckers on you my friend bad luck so far this year feel like it's gonna turn around soon and gv you a final very soon.you have my prayers and support

Hats off to the team, kicking butt getting the car ready
Hopefully you guys get some better luck I know it's hard to run with a limited budget. You All are a great team and work hard 👍
Take Care brother 🇸🇪👍
Never good when the valves try to swap cylinders during a run! Man that first round was a squeaker!
Thanks Clay. Very informative. You and the Team are awesome.
The concussive force involved when the engine blows must be hard to take. Glad your headache wasn't disabling. Great video, as always. Mike Kloeber had a lot better handle on things! Why would you let somebody like him go?
Only getting to make one pass down the track wasn't a good handle on things clay keep up the great work bro the direction you and your team are heading towards keep it up and congrats to you and your crew chief and great work and hustle by every single one of yall an exceptional great team keep it up
@@steventolbert8643
I don’t think the direction they’ve been heading looks very promising…5th to 11th in points standings since changing crew chiefs.
Sometimes you have to fall back to get ahead just may be surprised next time
@@steventolbert8643
I think you’ll be real surprised come Indy😜
I said Holly Molly when I seen the motor explode to Clay that was scary on video I can't even imagine what you felt . Thank you for posting all the great videos.
Clay, You, Jim and all the guys are doing a great job! Hey Buddy, I am glad you are okay! That nitromethane is like TNT!!!
Thanks for the part it's awesome. And thanks for all the interaction you have with the fans.
OMG that hole in the pan was.. WOW!!
Clay, your the man, also love the way your team is. Thanks for letting us see the behind the scenes and making us part of what you do.
Chicken bones!! Mike Smith taught me that LOL
Clay, so glad your OK!!! Man that thing Grenaded! Thank God for all the safety equipment!!
Glad you're ok and the team bounced back like champs!
Love how you share and explain what is happening
I think it's pretty awesome that you guys can have a big boomer and bounce right back with consistency.
Thank you, Clay, and Team!!! You are the man! 👍🏼😎
Go Clay!
That was a big bandage boom 💥 😳..
.that time sheet after every run is very interesting..
This is John good seeing and meeting with you sorry you was in a hurry to get the hell out of town been cool if we could have chatted for a while
This is best video for racing ever. The 1st person to explain everything. Very good Clay. Better luck Brainerd.
The one major thing i miss about running the Matco Tools hospitality is AB's humor! I could never get enough of it.
Clay, when you knock the intake valves THROUGH the seats there is no way to keep the blower on the intake lol. Holy cow, that was some destruction.
love seeing you guys doin good, thank you for sharing so much info.
Congratulations and kudos to the whole team. Stellar effort on the rebuild.. Extremely cool to see the analytics of your run compared. It was on a pass for sure. J Swap Jason.
Hang in there Clay. Jim O will get a handle on it. He's a pro
I hope things turn around for you clay, I hate seeing it turn out like this, I have high hopes that jim o can make it happen, you guys work hard for it and deserve it. Good luck in brainerd this weekend!
Clay so glad your okay 👍 God Bless You

Please keep up this inside look. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Clay, you and your team are awesome. I have learned a lot about Top fuel racing through watching all your videos, it's great.
Awesome Expensive , Info Sheets pretty neat , Thanks Clay & Crew 😀
Thats a hit in the parts budget! Sure turn some wrenches be back
Now that is a comeback! Great job team
Yup valve train was a good guess.
Awesome to see Antron and you chat'n it up on the ride back. Thank you and your team for such great content, keep grinding and get that W!
Thanks for sharing, great video as usually. Glad you’re ok after the explosion.
Thanks again for the view of what it’s like. You guys are a fun bunch even in the face of adversity. Keep digging and sharing.
'love the videos.i like seeing behind the scenes.good friendships and co-working👍
I wish you had a Go-Pro in that intake runner so we could've seen the flame come back through to the blower. Outstanding Clay.

Ive never watched your channel.. Im 60 and liked fast cars since forever .. this was an interesting peek into your world. Thanks
Thanks for having us in the lounge.
See you in the next one.
Clsy really good video. Thanks for showing us the extra time slip, not seen one before.

Awesome video as usual. Everyone more than earned their money on a very hot weekend, especially you Clay. Glad it was just a headache.
A bunch of youtubers have been exploding engines lately. You, Steve Morris, and the Boostedboiz.
Hopefully the headache is gone. If you can’t win, Antron would be my second choice. I met him when he was running motorcycles, first class guy.
Agreed. Antron is my second favorite driver. Antron and Clay have one big thing in common, and it's not the size of their fire suits. Do you know what it is?
Great video 👍. Really enjoyed this one. Cool stuff shared with us. Thanks again 😃😀✌️
Well,
1) the motor is behind you.
2) with the advent of safety straps and harnesses, a very good outcome from a very dangerous incident.
Well done.
Those heads look very fixable. I used to maintain the head on our shop blown alky engine and I have never seen a valve sucked into the port before like that. YOU did not make a mess, we know it was a TEAM effort...but you were closest to it.
Awesome run to finish qualifying. Especially considering the previous day!
It so good that the rear didn't lock up, but I'm happy that everyone is safe. 😃👍
Thanks for sharing. Glad your ok. That was a big explosion with a lot of damage.
Awesome effort from the whole team. From major carnage to a potential fastest pass the next outing. A display of true professionalism. Thanks Clay for another awesome video. BTW, I think that engine detonation was the closest thing that I have seen to cause you to almost not smile, lol.
Glad you and the crew had "fun" here in my hometown of Topeka! Hope to see you and the Parts Plus #25 TF/D next year! Glad you are OK after the BOOM!
I love this behind the scenes documentary!
Clay i only been following 4-6 weeks & been getting to know you through these old races and i really love your style your very informative and entertaining all in one ! Thanks to kevin @KSR for connecting me with your channel last month I get to watch more racing that i love !
Dang Clay that was a expensive Boom!!!! Way to go Clay and team to come back with a great run!!!!
Great Job as always Clay and team!!! You blew it up big but you turned it around and ended up blowing up the 330' haha
As a fan of top fuel for many, many, many years it's great to see behind the scenes how a team runs. Especially on a small budget (relatively small), Antron Brown seems to be a good bloke also.
You and your team are getting real close! Godspeed friends. 💪🏼👍🏼🇺🇸
another great clip.....nasty bang for you guys but sure looked impressive for the viewers....thank you
You will get it soon. I remember seeing you win in Chicago land. That was so much fun.
Yea Man glad your safe!
I had one blow right infront of us at Pamona yrs ago and it blew us all back in the stands, I cant imagine it from your seat🤠
Awesome job your whole team is doing!!! Breaking part's is part of the game, that's why y'all got extras!!

It was great to see you in Topeka! Wish the result would have been better for you!! You are a great ambassador for the sport of drag racing!!
Clay, you are such a cool dude. I really love watching your videos.
Great video sir. Keep them coming like this. Except for the win light on.
Dang nambit! Your fans wishing your hard working team better luck at Brainerd!
Clay, the post-mortem on the motor was fascinating.
Could you talk more about the various safety systems that held the pieces together and also protected you from the detonation?
They have been trying to reach you about the extended warranty!
Really a very cool video and I have a lot of respect for this man and his out look on things for Top Fuel Racing , it’s the real way of showing a very true sportsman and his team is really a grand bunch
Engine blows up:
Me; Holy S***!
