Don’t beat yourself up too much but I have MASSIVE respect for you not making excuses. A great example for us all. Keep stompin on that loud pedal brother!
Us men are always our own worst critics (and enemy's for some lol) I made the mistake once of trying to explain to my wife about what we think/say to ourselves while working or trying to accomplish things were passionate about 😵🤯😶🌫️ 😂 won't do that again!
Something to consider when racing in front of paying fans: There needs to be a show. The anticipation of not knowing who is going to win, lose , set a record or have problems needs to be there otherwise it is just cars doing down the track. . Sure, fans like a winning team however, after a while they grow tired of overly dominant teams, attendance drops off, sponsors pull out, teams vanish and qualifying becomes a mere formality. .
No worries Clay. Great to see Kevin as always, he's a genuine soul who's very humble. Everybody has those moments in life and then we put it behind us while looking forward to the next event for sure and you'll have your redemption. Great crew, great owner, great driver; great things are about to happen. Cheers and God Bless!
Clay, we all have those days. Your car was screaming, something had to to have broken. I love these videos. You are an amazing ambassador for drag racing. Thank you for bringing us along. #stomp on that loud pedal. Btw, tire smoke!
Your failure on the light will never define the team, nor will your success. This team and your fans will never let you take the blame. you are SHARP, you are TALENTED, YOU ARE OUR LEADER.
I was surprised how many were tire smoke! Speaking as someone who has red-lit as a last pass in the fall more times than i can remember (long time to think about until spring), i would much prefer the data of a full pass and you got that. Something up in the can maybe and you at least have the data to solve it, yes? Nice big team to absorb it with you (including us out here) and the next .040 light and that .110 light is forgotten. Arizona is next, stomp on the loud pedal and its a distant memory. Cheers dude.
Lol, I was more concerned that when the front end went loose, it was gonna go up & over... At least its still a solid start for March, lots season left to entertain us weekly! Thanx !
Man, I would love to be on this crew, I like, when she said, looking forward to the future! The entire crew perspective is spot on and yeah, you guys got that car dialed, when it’s pulling the front end like that, new car, you guys know where you’re at and her and Jim got the power and clutch on point!
Clay is one of the most humble, respectable and amazing drivers in the game, always a smile even on a loss, I can’t say enough about someone with that much humility and pure talent! You’re amazing clay!!
Hi Clay thanks for taking the tims to speak last weekend at ths races. You must be one of the hardest working driver aside from your driving duties. I also spoks to Jim & Kaylynn, they were great and thys really do the team justice, really friendly and exactly how they appear on your channel. We had agreat weekend at Gainsville just sorry you did not go more rounds. Ts3ke care, thanks to all ths team.
We still respect what you do Clay don’t worry about it!!! Now that it’s out of the way early in the season it’s going to keep you on point for the rest of the season I’m sure!!!! Keep up the amazing job you’re doing and we’ll see you at the next race doing what you do best!!!! STOMP THAT LOUD PEDDLE!!!!!
You guys got a KICKASS CAR/DRIVER/TEAM..! The lows can help ya when they happen and I KNOW you and the team will keep doing AWESOME this year..!! I mean the power, the clutch management, your driving.. AWESOME! Not desirable, but the clutch pulling the front end up was baaaaadass..!! That’s when you know your car can be FIIIINE tuned!!! Get ‘em this year guys!! Know ya will!!!
Wasn't it 50 push-ups for a whole shot loss? Back on it Clay, don't be too hard on yourself. You do not lose on a whole shot very often. I am very excited for you guys this season. I think you guys are going to do really good this year.
I'm glad to see the #5 qualifying position right out of the gate. This is going to be a great year! Bummer on the light, but I wonder what other professions would a 0.113 reaction time be considered a bad thing. You perform at a different level than regular people can even understand. But, good on you for kicking your own butt a little, as that's what it takes when you don't perform to your own standard. You asked 'tire smoke or late' and my personal opinion would be tire smoke. It is worse on the equipment and as you've shown before smoke/shake bangs your head up a bit too. I'd also rather be late than red, as red is a guarantee its over. Hold your heads high RWR Team Parts Plus! 2023 is going to be great!
Reaction times on the slow side happen to every driver. It’s frustrating but don’t beat yourself up!! This will only make you stronger and more successful in the future. Ya got this!!
Everyone that has ever looked at a Christmas tree on a drag strip has managed to mess it up once in a while. It happens. Don’t sweat it. There’s always next time. Your track record is awesome. Stomp that load pedal!
Clay it was a pleasure meeting you at the gator nationals I hope you guys enjoy the moon pies You signed my freedom factory hat and I felt bad so I made sure I bought your hat and it was a pleasure when you signed it I hope you and Donna wear the bracelets Jesus is always the answer
Ok now you got the late light under your belt now your going to pull the roots out of the ground from here on out. Great job for your team and you too sir all will be ok.
Tire smoking is worse, so don't let it bother you. When I was doing grass drags on my snowmobile, it took me a couple or more races to figure out the lights. Then it got to be lots of fun. Looking for GOOD things for the team this year.
Love that the team is "we live as a team we die as a team" great bunch. You hit the tree so often that one time is nothing. Go get them Clay in Arizona
As always it was great to meet you and spend a couple minutes talking at gainesville. But I gotta say for all of them guys. It's gotta be smokein the tires because then it's a waiting game while they take it apart to find out Who takes the blame on that at least if it's driver error everybody already knows who's fault today's and there's no stress or worry I can imagine for the people doing the clutch and redo in the motor they're just hoping the whole time when they take it apart. It's not their area that gotta be more stressful in disapointing
Much respect from this old man Clay, you make a mistake and you OWN it. Honest good ol boy, everybody makes mistakes, pull yourself Up by your bootstraps and fresh start to the next event. Stay safe all, God Bless.🙏
Hey Clay, My name is Shon. If everything goes to plan I'm hoping to make it to my first-ever NHRA race In June @ Thunder Valley. I know you have a special place in your heart for Bristol, and I can't wait to hear you "STOMP ON THAT LOUD PEDAL" in person, all the way back to the podium. Love the videos, and content, keep up the great work, and Good Lord willing see ya in Bristol.
Man that's so little time , that just a fuzz longer than a blink of an eye. It's crazy how top fuel has become as tight as pro stock. Keep your head up brother. Car looked good !
So glad to meet you in 08 at Sears point at pinks all out where we runnered up and now to live in Arkansas. I know now why you have a smile on your face It's great out here... Bobby
I'm going to keep saying it until I see lights in the.40'S, Practice tree Clay, I raced for 30 years and always used one, I love you and your team and to compete with the younger drivers you have to lower your RT, I'm not telling you anything you already know, I know this loss will fire you up.
We are all humbled from time to time. I don't think you needed it, but I certaintly feel your pain and disappointment. This team will rebound. The driver is good and forgiven by his team. Short memory... and rebound in Phoenix! Best of luck and success for the TEAM.
Tough break on the broken treeaction. That sucks. Tire smoke is always the biggest disappointment because all the potential is left on the track and you don't get to know what that potential might have been.😉 Of course giving the driver crap for sleepin on the tree is always an option as well.😜😂🤣 0.40 to 1.14 damn that hurts! But, if the engine hadn't quit, that would have been a very close finish because a 6 mile an hour difference at 900 feet rolling across the line means you were making up that 0.34 from the tree.🤙
Hey Clay, I'm with JimO. Smoke the tires makes YOU feel better. It's drag racing, quit beating urself up over it. One bad day will result in many good ones.
I can say this has to be one of the best teams I have every got to see. Even getting to watch and witness them working as a whole at the gatornationals. It is a well oiled machine.
As a newb to top fuel, it is hard to imagine what it takes to get a reaction time of 0.113 let alone 0.040 of a second. At a difference of 0.073 there’s very little in it. What are the methods or start procedures that would make a good tree vs a ‘mess up’? Hey Kevin!
#1 Consistent staging. To cut good, consistent lights the front tires HAVE to be in the same place every race. #2 Have a routine from the time the car starts until you leave the line and stick with it. Breathing exercises are very helpful here to control the heart rate. #3 Practice, practice, practice! All good drivers use practice trees or similar devices to sharpen their reactions.
@@danmyers9372.... Spot On!... but, I think you're "talking to the choir", especially with drivers of Clay's caliber and 35+ years of racing. Great advice though, for the "newbies".
Tire smoke all the way Clay because had it hooked up no telling what your numbers would have been. Keep your chin up and keep plugging away brother. See you in Pomona 👍
Hey it isn’t the end of the world you ran good just wasn’t as lucky as your opponent in that round long season ahead good luck Clay and thanks for the picture and autograph at Gainesville 😎
Tiresmoke has to be the worse of the two. No qualifying with a burnout at the starting line! Anyway...the consistency of the passes, and still being so close to getting that win light. Better late (on the loud pedal) than a red light. Onto the next one!
I remember one time at work that, to me, i made a critical mistake and i was pissed off. Like thinking i coukd of done more or i was not 100%. My manager tells me to not let it get to me. There was just too volumn for the area to process and that the fact that i did what i could with the staffing we had. Its not about how we start out, its about how we end the day.
Clay,,, you could still turn this around and blame the team for it. They didn't pump you up on enough Mountain Dew to keep you awake at the starting line.. LOL
My answer would have been C. Something broke. Driver error is human. We all do it no matter how good we are and what we race. Its never bad because we always get better from it. Smoking the tires means you were pushing the limits and thats always good too. But when something lets go that shouldn't. Thats the worst. P.s. I was on pinks!
I race at Gainesville and I usually avoid the left lane in the morning because the sun is right behind the tree. I would beat myself up to much because it would have taken a psychic light to beat Austin.
Been watching you for a while. Got a question. How does a person get an invite or ticket to your hospitality tent. My wife and I are planning on going to the Topeka race. Someone has to leave last. There are a lot more things that can make that happen than just the driver. You take the blame but when trying to control 10,000+ hp to a fraction of a second anything can happen.
It's early days yet put it behind you all your team are behind you and so are your fans I can definitely see a wally on the horizon with this sponsor and the new car it's still as I said early days and it was always going to be difficult being up against Austin proc in the first round
Don’t beat yourself up too much but I have MASSIVE respect for you not making excuses. A great example for us all. Keep stompin on that loud pedal brother!

I agree with Jim O's comment on Kevin's channel, "we love our driver no matter what"
Love the team and how everyone supports everyone during the good and bad times. That’s how championship teams are made.

Great lap, good work team. Driver too!
Shake it off Clay you're one of the best, GET em next race. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Looking forward to a ROCK STAR season from your team! Missing you in Houston!
That new intro really hits hard man love it 🤘🤘🤘 and you got this clay don't let it get it down
What an awesome human being up the great work, my friend
Shit happens.. Pick your head up and move on to the next race!
Thank you for posting all the great videos !!!
Look's like you did a good job.. How close was the race??? Your 3.705 to his 3.706 . Wheels up! Gettin with it using all of the track....
Here from KSR! LOVE THE ATTITUDE OF YOUR TEAM AND CHANNEL!
Hey Clay, I'm with JimO. Smoke the tires makes YOU feel better. It's drag racing, quit beating urself up over it. One bad day will result in many good ones.

Sometimes, it happens. The next one will be the good one. Thank you for all this content !
Clay you are the Man. Good Luck
Those short little naps at the starting line do wonders sometimes... At least you didn't redlight.
Clay it's better to have a little oops than a mangled big oops. We all make them from time to time. It just makes us better in the end.
Fair to say the car is letting the driver down most of the time you earned one
Takes a BIG MAN TO ADMIT IF THEY FK'ED UP.
LOVE THIS CHANNEL
car ran solid, bucking and doing its thing and ran a decent number, joys of being human, mistakes happen,
on time to work....late to the tree LOL.... see you @ pomona!
Better luck next time thanks for sharing 👍

What are the advantages/disadvantages to open cockpits as opposed to enclosed?
Clay,,, you could still turn this around and blame the team for it. They didn't pump you up on enough Mountain Dew to keep you awake at the starting line.. LOL
So close!!
It is great to get that one out of the way early. Clay,,,,we'll talk in 66 but Seriously, you & team Got this, See You Soon Take Care :)

Hey Clay, I’m curious as to why you guys choose to run the open cockpit as opposed closed?
I race at Gainesville and I usually avoid the left lane in the morning because the sun is right behind the tree. I would beat myself up to much because it would have taken a psychic light to beat Austin.
You may not have won, but the car was fast! I agree smoking the tires is more disappointing in my opinion.
you kept them honest ya sure have a car under you now brother best of luck this season
Clay, you have the newest, baddest, and best looking team in NHRA.
Now, that will take some getting used to.
ENJOY!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm still enjoying all of your content, no mater what happens. Looking forward to the next one, I'm sure you are too.
OH WAIT, Clay is Human...Hang in there Brother!
Smoking the tires, I agree!
Been watching you for a while. Got a question. How does a person get an invite or ticket to your hospitality tent. My wife and I are planning on going to the Topeka race. I went to a race couple of years ago with my son as a birthday present to me. Since he bought the tickets, he decided seats, and tent, ( Mr. Force is actually a nice guy in person as well). Now it is my turn, and with following you from the Boosted Boys days, It would be my honor to hang with the guy who got me back to watching drag racing again.
Someone has to leave last. There are a lot more things that can make that happen than just the driver. You take the blame but when trying to control 10,000+ hp to a fraction of a second anything can happen.
Well everyone takes a nap now and then... hate losing to holeshots... at least all the parts stayed where they belonged..
We all make mistakes. There is another day. What matters is you are still alive to live another day
Millican wants a Mulligan :) You'll get it - I have confidence and you should too
Go after it in Phoenix! Good luck
It's early days yet put it behind you all your team are behind you and so are your fans I can definitely see a wally on the horizon with this sponsor and the new car it's still as I said early days and it was always going to be difficult being up against Austin proc in the first round
