As someone that owns a mikimoto akoya pearl they are definitely something special. They are so lustrous you can see your own reflection in them like a mirror. Vs a freshwater pearl where you can only see colors and fuzzy shapes in it, if anything at all.
Brown/Chocolate diamonds, I honestly thought were sub par, and being touted because the others were becoming harder to find that were gem quality. If Royalty ain't wearing it to formal events, it ain't worth paying for.
try buying etiopian opals, it is fraction of price of australian opals a they are very beautiful. doublets and triplets of australian opal are also much cheaper.
We have a huge shell that was all naturally coated with color white and somewhat iridescent, they said it was also considered as pearl. But we just put them outside the house.
@@earllim9348 it literally is and their classification of gemstone is stupid as well bc the definition of gemstone is “a precious or semiprecious stone, especially one cut, polished, and used in a piece of jewelry” so opal is definitely a gemstone. Technically pearls are gems, not gemSTONES, but are almost always classified as such anyway
Yeah. I meant a semi gemstone. It is a rock. Pearls are not gemstones nor rocks. Pearls are made from animals. The classification gemstone is the most complicated thing. Some of these prices are wrong. The local rock shop only sells the pearls and black opals are about 4-30 dollars per gram. Probaly because they ain’t gem quality.
The most pearls never seen one drop of sea water the majority are farmed that's why i dont like Them. Like farmed Salmon in norway, farmed with Love & cyanide LOL.

aren’t brown diamonds ridiculously common and mainly used for industry and scientific equipment (because they’re so common)?
Yes, it was a way to market common and less desirable Dimonds. It was a very successful campaign.
Came here just to read all the comments from the angry geologists
hahaha I could smell the “pearls aren’t gemstones” comments
Pearls are gemstones however they are not mined but harvested from clams

I hope they make an episode on huichol art if they haven't already. Also opals are probably my favorite gemstone even if I'll never get to hold one

@@luciahennelova8476 thanks! I'll look into that

It would be interesting to see
Nature’s work of art!
Yeah natures work of art but at what point?.No one can enjoy it unless you BUY one obviously
@@Founderschannel123 hmm 🤔 with that perspective no one would enjoy the Mona Lisa unless they bought it. But wait it’s not for sale.
Ummm pearls aren’t gemstones
they are precious gems, not really a stone
They are classified as organic gemstones, so they're technically gemstones but are harvested instead of mined.
They are, and the only organic gemstones
Pearl is not the only natural gemstone, Amber and Bone are also used in jewelry a lot. Amber is a tree resin from a million years.
@@lithuanelo3065 yep! So is tortoiseshell and jet
Opals are so magical!!😍🌈
The only true gemstone here is the chocolate diamond. The others are not true rocks.
Isn’t opal a rock?

Yeah opal it is a rock but it is a mineroid a semi rock.
@@lithuanelo3065 a mineroid is just a rock that isn’t crystalline so technically still a full rock right? Just not crystalline like other gemstones

Nice video!
Opals are my birthstone
Those aren't gemstones, ya flipping fool
Whenever brings up unheated untreated Sri Lankan padparadscha sapphire
I never understood chocolate diamonds, though.
Dios te ama 🇨🇴 bendiciones 🙏 Bogotá 👌
Bad time to make a joke but pearls are so rare because percy jackson readers took them and smashed them at their feet- (if u dont get it to bad)
A stone is not a pearl
I would like to gift one of these to the narrator of this video.
You're wearing something that was stuck in an oysters throat for 6 months 🤣😂🤢🤮
Opals- you’re wearing a peice of mineralised fish, dino or plant that died millions of years ago 😛

If limestone & gravel could talk, it would probably sound like this video's voice over 🤔
