Thanks David! I’m doing my first parking lot stripes today and I needed the tutorial. I was planning on using a 211 but I had no idea how I was gonna do the lines! Haha. Thx Carnal!!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 -Sam.
Great Video! I wondered why contractors did not use a simple paint spraying machine that's not a line sprayer. I have a Graco x7 that I wanted to keep in the trailer/truck hooked up to a quiet generator for my lines. Your video shows it's doable. No big money equipment but still great results!
Thank you for your comment sir i was doing a job with about 70 lines and started it and realized it would take me waaaayyyy tooo long taping and rolling it. Your a genius thanks brother
Nice job... For width consistency you can actually drive some long screws from one board to the next (near both ends) and if done right, it might give you the ability to change width by adjusting the screws.
We just asphalted a small area that we wanted to fit two cars in. They fit, but barely, so I wanted to add lines to make it easier to consistently park correctly. I just used duct tape and the results were just as good. However, it took longer lining up the duct tape and it was a pain, because some parts didn't stick well and I had to be careful to not get the paint under the tape. I like this method better. Much quicker and eaiser. One thing you might want to do it when you're spraying, use a box. I noticed when I did it, even though I never went over the tape, there was the tiniest bit of overspray here and there, almost giving the lines a "halo effect" in spots. Again, it looks great, but using a box, there would be 0 overspray. I'll have to redo the lines every year (since I have to seal the driveway) and I'll use your method with a box, which should be super quick.
Great video, I have to paint a new Handicap van parking space at our HOA. This really helped me out, I have a sprayer but I think I will use a roller using your method with the 2x4s Thanks for the video!!
Nice video mate. I think a way to speed things up might be to cut Timbers to the length of the lines needed so you don’t have pick up and move them to finish. One long piece for each line. Great video bro
lol, if you are going in the parking lot business you better not be doing this method, that's like a 5 min job with a big fancy striping machine, literally the easiest job to do, no layout restripe.
I have done several parking lots but I have always just free-handed it. I've never used line snaps, tape measures or anything like that. I usaully use a paint roller on a stick and drag around a paint tray I can do 500 space parking lots by myself in one day.
built my own using a generator an airless spray unit a trolley and made all stencils arrows lines etc built for less than a grand and paid for itself 20 times over
Bolt the boards together, and an extended handle on one end of the boards and lawn mower wheels on the other end. Now you can move a lot faster when striping.
I got the paint from lowes, you need to strain the paint as it will clog your pickup filter . Another tip, take the filter out of your gun and you will run smooth all day
Sending to property management for a request to paint two or three parking lines, so I can see to park at night or in winter and make the line far enough from my car on each side, for the next car not to park too close. I need space to open my doors all the way in order to get my rolling cart close enough to put bags into the rolling cart to roll in. Love your simple and inexpensive technique, I think might get this done at very little cost to the owner.
The paint used for striping is slod by Sherwin willams its called traffic striping paint it comes in 5 gallon pails and usually its wise to thin it down slightly and no a wagner paint sprayer wont work it needs to be a proper airless paint sprayer with the correct painting tip . a roller does a very sloppy job . if you know how to setup your paint sprayer you have 0 needs for 2x4 boards unless your doing crosswalks or stop lines or arrows .
Boards are great but 1x4 are much lighter and just as effective. And get a good used machine. I can stripe that pushing my machine in the time it takes you to do 8 lines. I’m not hating but I think when you get one you’ll love it
Actually it was more like a minute a line, some times faster when we were moving. Your right I was a rookie when I did this job, first time actually!!! I was put on the spot that morning and by the end of the day we were able to stripe the entire parking lot you see there. Plus extras. The purpose of this video is to show people that something can be done no matter what as long as you put your mind and will to it.
I would just screw a 4 inch spacers to keep the 2 x4 on the right width! Great video thanks 😊
This guy's HAS to be latino with this comment lmao
its annoying for storage, no need no one would see it.

-Sam.
What kind of paint you used and can you used it on spray machine
Go to any paint manufacturer and ask for “striping paint”. Yes! It can be sprayed.
Awesome! That's MUCH easier, with the same results than any method I've seen. Thanks man!
Bro! This was amazing! Thank you for the straightforward video!

Brilliant! Thank you for teaching us and posting this video
My Latino brotha, Much love. I'm stressing trying to start out and thought I needed that big as a machine for these Thank you
Thank you for your support
True, you can get started this way, but if you want to get more done = more $$, you can go much faster with a motorized spray setup.

Nice video mate.

What type of air sprayer did you use, I’m starting my parking lot business and need your help!!
Thanks

what machine are you using to spray the paint. How much do you charge per line?
Great job. Nice and easy, congratulations guys!

Great video David, How are you doing curved lines?
Without?
Very useful information. Thank you will try next week ..
You're the man! Thanks brother 👍
My dude!!!! Great video!!! Bro, how do you paint around the curbs and fire lanes?
Maybe bolt the 2x4 together so you have a solid piece template?
That's a great idea
And put tall handles at each end so you don't have to reach far down to pick it up
Nice
Bolt the boards together, and an extended handle on one end of the boards and lawn mower wheels on the other end. Now you can move a lot faster when striping.
Do you recommend a specific type of paint for this and paint gun setup? Liked the content
2x10 for efficiency maybe?
what do you charge
What about the handy cap😊
Cómo le haces para en contrar tus clientes
Longer 2x4 duh, and connect the 2 damn boards exactly 4 inches apart so it's a stable jig. Then just go from spot to spot...
You get it lol I thought I was the only one
Thanks..GREAT JOB!The 2x4 planks a great idea!qQWHICH PAINT QWHICH ,ACHINE? CHEERS DIY!

Great video guys, thank you
Does this work?
Can I ask around how much you made for that job ? Looking to do this out here in Cali
Hello friend, I like your work, it is very good. He wanted to know what machine he used to paint. Thank you.
I used an airless sprayer that I bought from harbor freight
@@davidluevano8990 Gracias nuevamente, esa máquina funciona a gas o electricidad?.
What kind of paint would I need for asphalt?
Awesome been looking into doing this great tip
Thanks about to apply this technique
Love the video
what's ur equipment to do this?
Harbor freight airless sprayer, 211 tip and striping paint from lowes,
That probably takes so long to complete. Worth it tho when ur just starting
Great video bro!
What kind of paint are you using?
Striping paint from home depot. It comes in 1 gallons. But you have to strain the paint they sell because it is gritty and will clog you sprayer.
Yall just saved me some money from buying a machines since I have smaller jobs
Where do you get the paint from?
I got the paint from lowes, you need to strain the paint as it will clog your pickup filter . Another tip, take the filter out of your gun and you will run smooth all day
It is parking lot paint
How many times did you strain the paint and how long was your air hose?
i saw a video where they used tape and a roller... but this way is way more efficient!
Easy, simple thanks
Will a Wagner be alright? And what paint did yall use?
are you using a "basic" airless paint sprayer?
This is a basic paint sprayer, the one ime using is the harbor freight model 200 dollars ime shure.

Looks terrible. Chalk that and tell me it’s level all the way up

David thanks for posting. Great idea for those diy-ers who only need to lay down 2 lines and a quick way to obtain it
Che Hater... that's for the small people starting out. Let us get our foot in the door.
