I've been searching forever for a sizzle cymbal , not to ride, but sometimes just to strike for a note but a light crash sound that rivets continue to vibrate for while, 😊. Im 73 and STILL can't find a company that actually makes a real good sizzle cymbal . I have now a 20 inch Mehmet ride with 6 rivets I put I, it's close. 😊

It’s tough to find what you’re looking for, so you’re right to go the DIY route! I love my sizzle cymbals.

Great video! I've kind of always winged it, and hoped for the best... I mean, I always had some idea, but it's definitely nice to have a solid plan. I think I will work on some cymbals I have lying around. You've inspired me to have it and see how they turn out.

They are goat nails and some jingle percussion instrument I found online like 20 years ago. Try drumsupply.com or larkinthemorning.com

I use Bosphorus brass plated split rivets. They're lighter and thinner than the ones you use. Larger rivets sound too clacky to my ears. The best sounding alternative to rivets is taping dimes, but I don't like dealing with tape. I haven't tried any chains lighter than the Pro-Mark Sizzler, which is kinda meh.

I'll have to try the Bosphorus rivets.

For an 18" Cymbal, l use 8-Screws. Each, 1, is Attached, To a Single-Piece of Scotch-Tape(Thumb-Size). The Screws should hang, About an inch, Away, from the Outer-Edge, of the Cymbal. Each Screw should be a Hand-Length, Away, From eachother. It sounds Really-Nice! :) It's an, Old, lndian-Trick! :D
