Sierra's work here is one of the finest, GREATEST artistic performances of ANY kind I've ever witnessed. And I'm real old. She is positively superlative here.
Well, actually...in the reprise of People Will Say We're In Love, the character Laurey DOES jump the octave. This is a hybrid... Because it's gorgeous!
The first time my husband told me he loved me we were in Broadway in New York City watching the play Oklahoma in 2000 and when they sang the song he turned to me and said I love you. Aw how romantic. we were married the following year and sadly he passed away four years later.
This gorgeous creature from Denver, Colorado, aside from having a beautifully expressive face, has a preternaturally pure and true voice. As far as I know, this is as good as any human being could possibly do this. Thanks for this sublime post.
SIERRA IS BEAUTIFUL AND A WONDERFUL WONDERFUL SINGER, SHE IS SO GOOD THAT A SINGER LIKE HER ONLY COMES ALONG ONCE IN A GENERATION! I PREDICT EVEN GREATER THINGS FOR HER ON THE HORIZON!
@@MrDaiseymay It was the Golden Age of romantic musical theater. There were so many wonderful shows then, and many of them were made into movies that still hold their own today.
SIERRA AND JULIAN! WOW! This is a great duet! Repeat! A Great Duet! They do the best version of this song since Gordon Macrae and Shirley Jones! I think everyone should recognize how very talented these two singers are. I think they are wonderful!
"Don't stand in the rain with me." A gem from a gem-filled song. But, of course, we ARE speaking here of Rodgers and Hammerstein. BRAVA and BRAVO, Sierra Boggess and Julian Ovenden !!! You are Exquisite. (I didn't know until now that DCS Foyle's son is also a great singer.)
They both have such a masterful command of their voices that it allows them to be creative, expressive and playful while sounding perfect. Just a great performance
Beautiful rendition of a great old Rodgers and Hammerstein standard. Thanks for posting. The British do a beautiful job with music from cathedral hymns to B'Way. King, New York
These two are commensurate singers. They sing with passion and conviction! Julian and Sierra are “ for all time and all generations”! Rogers and Hammerstein were two of the greatest co,posers who ever lived! America is credited with creating “ musicals”.
This is the first John Wilson orchestra video I ever watched...and it's all because I searched Sierra Boggess. Thanks Sierra for introducing this amazing orchestra to me!
Sierra, I live on Oklahoma and grew up ever summer seeing this at the outdoor theater, Discoveryland. It's one of my fondest childhood memories. Your performance, as always, is beyond perfection!
😯His voice!!! . . . Something about it reminds me of the voice of the guy who plays the main guy character in the movie of Oklahoma, and the movie of Carousel . . . a certain couple of qualities here and there about his voice. Does any one else hear it?
I would love to see Julian and Sierra in a musical together perhaps A REMAKE of any Rogers and Hammerstein classic musicals they would be perfect together and I am sure it would be a smash
There’s nothing sweeter than being able to see the world with dos and don’ts for lovers to see the beauty of being in love with each other through gazing, holding hands and expressing their feelings through the sweetest smile they can share with each other. Then later I will say “let people say they’re in love”.
😀My grandparents were from Eastern Oklahoma and they told me they rode in a horse and buggy, too. He was a big burley guy that looked like Henry Fonda. I like to pretend they were those two in the movie cause they were very much in love too. 😂
When I watch this it fills me with joy. Their voices are perfect together. And that orchestra. I bought many of CD's of William's orchestra. I want to follow you because you post the most beautiful music. It's all the music I love. We would make good room mates or friends or neighbors. Thanks eddiecat.
Philip Dow Thank you! What a nice thing to say. I like many different kinds of music but the classics from the old musicals such as Oklahoma and Carousel are my favorites. Nice to find someone who appreciates this kind of entertainment as much as i do. : )
Am 80 but don't let me leave this world yet....... want to listen. To more and.more of. Sierra's music x

Kai C oh for sure, I just love that she chose to do it, and so FLAWLESSLY.
And that is what a theatrical soprano is supposed to sound like! If we're lucky, every generation has one.
The first time my husband told me he loved me we were in Broadway in New York City watching the play Oklahoma in 2000 and when they sang the song he turned to me and said I love you. Aw how romantic. we were married the following year and sadly he passed away four years later.

There are not many times when I think I’m listening to Musical Perfection, but here is a brilliant example
It's definitely one of the sweetest songs ever written and sang.
Sierra and Julian's voices are so gorgeous that they make Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones proud!
beyond the beyond into a realm of MAGIC....this duo are ENCHANTMENT.....
I can see the two of them doing ANY major Broadway musical. So beautifully gifted, they make my heart sing!! Bravo!!

The 2010 Proms are my lullaby every night. When the opening music begins my dog knows it is time to go to bed.
What a spectacular finale. Even their vibratos where in sync.
I am 85 yrs Love this pair they add to the music, I do remember that The Queen and Prince Phillip loved this song in their early years.

When chose a tenor to sing with this wonderful soprano, they needed to find one that could match her. Wow! They found one. They really did.

Now check out Laurence Guittard Oklahoma 1979.
Seems more like a baritone, as the part of Curly is written as.
They really did.

No matter what your age, love can arrive from anywhere.
When I watch her sing Julie Andrews comes to my mind,,,,,
I love Julie Andrews, but Sierra Boggess is her own woman.
Have you heard her I Have Confidence?
Ankle Donna Either one ... outstanding beyond belief ...
its the perfection
Richard Rodgers (music) & Oscar Hammerstein II (lyrics) two musical geniuses wrote this in 1943 for the Broadway show, "Oklahoma."
did you know that the show was originally called away we go! before they decided to use the title song as the name?
Yes.
And they would be very pleased by this performance!
Julian and Sierra- Che bella!
