It has been almost two years that we have been living in our "tiny house on wheels" and A LOT HAS CHANGED!!! Most importantly is that we DO NOT RECOMMEND THE ALCOHOL STOVE shown in this video... check out this video on why ruclips.net/video/nFBtRpNRUtE/видео.html. BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR OUR NEW AND UPDATED VAN TOUR COMING IN THE FALL OF 2020. Thanks for checking us out!
I lived on a sailboat for five years and I loved that alcohol stove (Origo). I intend to use the same one in my RV. I tried to see what you had against it but that video seems to have been deleted. Could you tell me why?
I’ve seen safety concerns abt propane too not illustrated here though. I’m wondering why you didn’t go with a 2 burner induction stove. They’re wonderful. Only drawback is you need a receptacle near your countertop extension to cook outdoors (in essence).
I have watched literally hundreds of van conversions and WOW yours would easily be up there with my top 3, Lady you are so darn clever, it's obvious you had spent a lot of time thinking about your layout, so many things i love in your van to mention,so many firsts that i haven't seen before, you both should be very proud of your absolutely, stunning, cosy, beautiful home, needless i say more.lol. i think you get the gist of what i think, also you both seem a lovely down to earth couple and i wish you nothing but safe and happy travels along with awesome times and memories made to tell your grand children.Cheers from Australia and you have a new sub.
Alan Hudson awe! Thank you so much! We love it but it sure is nice when someone else recognizes the amount of hard work and thought that went into it. Very kind words--thank you!
I agree 100%. This layout is perfect and has everything I would want. I know a shower is a luxury but I would prob prefer a composting/wet bath super small closet. Otherwise this can kicks butt.
rambo lambo thank you! I'm loving the deck especially for photography 📷 I was going to try yoga but I'm not very graceful and pictured myself falling off😂 I'm glad I held off buying pillows! Sleeping bags might just be one of my best ideas....ever
I have been researching #vanlife for well over a year and have recently purchased a Promaster. I have been struggling with how I want to design the build... I think I just found it. I LOVE what you guys have done.
What a great build!!! It looks like a professional did the work. Feels like a home and so inviting! Thank you for sharing. I plan to build out a van in a few years so this gives me some great ideas!
Finally! A couch placed so you can relax and enjoy the view out of the sliding door. I also like the partition between the bed and kitchen counters... gives nice separation without loosing space. I have the same van and am doing something very similar. Great idea cutting up your old mattress, but I still have a home so had to buy one for the van. Cheers!
+Andrea Deranek Thank you so much!! We are honored that you want to copy our design 😀 Please feel free to ask us any questions you want. We will do our best to answer them. Thank you for watching.
I have seen hundreds of van and trailer videos. I really like this van. The size of the bed. The height of the bed you did not short yourself on headspace on the bed or make it difficult to get in. I love that drawer laundry hamper step. Sleeping bag in the pillow case.. I appreciate the little details that you have that you included with the video.
Congrats! I have watched many Van conversion videos and your design is the smartest, most practical, and the most attractive one that I have seen. Enjoy! ... and Thanks for sharing.
YES!!!! I am the woodworker and I can envision how I want things, my hubby has a harder time with this. We did lots of measurements and discussions in great detail about how things needed to work..... More than he wanted I'm sure😂 Thank you
I like you two. I hope you stashed a lot away - selling all that stuff. Maybe when there's a real estate crash you can pick where you want to live and get a house on the cheap ... and still have your awesome van. Love the plumbing - esp. the large water tank and the ease of draining the grey water tank.
I'm really concerned about young people jumping in this lifestyle thinking they can do it forever simply because their saving so much. The problem as I see it is a very limited salary of a regular job. Some youtubers do ok but the market is saturated with so many people making videos about van life. This is not an easy lifestyle, it's really pretty hard. Good luck and take care!
Wow!!! You two have made yourselves a beautiful home. It is so much nicer than a lot of class B RV’s that cost tens of thousands even used. Congratulations
Hello, I just watched your video and wow what an awesome job you did getting your van ready for the road. Your conversions is one of the best I have seen. You should be so proud of the work you put into such a cool space and doing it together is great as well. I subscribed and look forward to following you as you travel out beautiful Country. Safe Travels!!!! David Pearson PS. Love the top roof deck to sit and watch the sun go down. Great idea. Don’t think I have ever seen that add on. 👍🏻
What a wonderful build. I could see myself living in this van. Very well thought out. Good amount of water. Toilet is great. Love the curtains and cushions. I like the sleeping bags as stuffing. And so much more. You could probably make curtains for other van lifers for extra income. I wish you two some awesome advantures.
If u can run a humidifier on the roof u can get a lot of water. Also a roof water reservoir would help gravity fed water inside. If driving be careful of back n forth sloshing. U can design in compartments.
Wow! Loved all your ideas! I've seen so many buildout videos, it all becomes a blur. Yours will definitely standout among the best! Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant! What an awesome design and build. Great use of space. So many things I want in my van, I will be referring back to this video many times. 👍👍
Not gonna lie, I have the goofiest smile on my face seeing that nice deck on top.... never seen that in all the videos I have watched, and that is a LOT of content I have consumed. Awesome.
+Barry Dutton Sells Homes hubby built that so I could take photos! I love it! Also makes it very handy to clean the solar panels and a wee bit of storage!
Really outstanding build! Very unique and thought out so well. Love several parts including the partition for the privacy etc. Its such wonderful art work and creativity isnt it?!
Looks great, and seems like it has everything you guys wanted. One small thing: the fire extinguisher seems like it’s in the last place you’d want it should there ever be a fire from the cooktop...the flames would go up and riiiiight into the area you’d want to be able to reach to grab the extinguisher...maybe put it at floor level a couple feet away?
Really enjoyed watching the your very informative video. Don't know if I'd use one, but I do like how you set up your DVD player. Also the way you utilized your mattress by making your sofa too, sure that's comfortable. Thanks for sharing. Happy Travels to you.
+Campup River thank you! The DVD Player is not a everyday item but it is nice every now and then! Glad we used our old mattress.... it’s so comfortable!
I absolutely love your van. Great job! If it was just me my first choice would be to have a van but I have animals, multiple. Long story. I’ve been looking at class C toy haulers so I can convert the garage part into a safe animal area. I don’t like the floor plans and they all seem to be 30’ or more long and they have slides. So I need to find another vehicle that’s tough enough, in excellent mechanical shape, and a good size. I have some definite ideas on how I’d like to build it out. Part of that is having the human area set up more like a van build but with a shower and toilet area. NO slides! And I love your set up! Very nice! Thank you for sharing.
Ann: Though harder to find, there are shorter toy haulers. I owned one. Loved it. Dog loved it. Had the rear ramp door, so I set it up like a patio. This was before they made manufacturer railing for the tail gate. I made my own out of dog fencing (white vinyl metal, fold away) so he had a safe place to view the area but was safe from other dogs. I miss my toyhauler. Dog is not nearly as happy in the travel trailer. Next one will be another toyhauler. I love the van idea and this is one of the best I've seen. However, with critters it just would not work for me.
Hi Dave, Carrie, and Roodle! I came over to your channel from Chrome's vancity vanlife and already enjoying watching your videos, awesome set up you have.
Thank you very much! Nice to have you along on our journey 😃 We are thinking about doing a one year updated van your! We made a few changes along the way
You have some really good idea's - laundry built into the pull out step up and the toilet set up is good. I like that you were able to use your left over bed material for your sofa and fabric from the King bed on the sofa and pillows ... great re-use of materials. I am seeing now many van dwellers prefer all electric stove etc ... propane makes everything damp in the winter. Instant Pot and Berkey are perfect. You do have to buy filters once per year and they are pricy - I wouldn't be without one.
We are hearing a few people complain about their induction cooktops using too much electricity. We are very happy with our propane cook top. The small amount of condensation has been a non issue for us. We love our Berkey as well. 😀😀
Wow I absolutely love your build. I love the sofa and your sink area. And your bedroom is probably one of the best designs I have seen. I love the little nook for the DVD player. What type of player is it? I love the swivel screen. But more importantly I am really impressed with how you separate the Living area the sleeping area. The different ceiling is a great idea. Do you have an exterior shower? Your furchild is adorable. Very nice!!
Thank you!!!! We are SO SO happy with the sofa, it was not included in our first design layout. I knew that we needed some separation between the Kitchen and bedroom just to keep meal prep off the bedding. The DVD player is by Pyle and we got it off Amazon. We have a 4-gallon big kahuna shower that we haven't used yet just because it has been so cold....🥶 I call him my furchild too
You guys have done an amazing job with layout and repurposing things. I’m inspired! I currently have a Dodge Sprinter, but I’m heavily considering the ProMaster. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us at home who are still waiting to be on the road full time.
Thank you for watching and commenting! We have been on the road now for 2 years and have made a few changes along the way. We hope to do an updated tour video in the future. Please feel free to ask us lots of questions as we love to be helpful and inspire others to join the lifestyle.😀
The fit and finish is so well done.. it is evident you both thought thru all you layouts. It really is one of the best layouts I have seen. Like you, I will be selling everything in a year and have been doing research for my build. Perhaps the two of you and the brother could make a living building out vans .... is there anything you would change? All the best. Safe journeys and I hope this adventure leads you both to great things.🇨🇦👏🏽🙏🏼👏🏽🇨🇦👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
We just met these two as well as ruble on the beach in Texas. Awesome people (and pup) look forward to watching your adventures. Perhaps our paths will cross again!
+Heather Hilley We love it also. Took us a bit to get the compost mix right so let us know if you have any questions after you get it. Good luck with your build.
Nice design . I’ve always wondered how people on the road take showers. I’ve heard gym memberships come in handy. When my husband and I retire we will be RVing pretty much full time. There is so much to see here in USA and Canada
Yes we have a planet fitness membership. We have found that day use at state parks is a great place to get a shower, fill up full of water and empty our trash. This way we get to skip the city. 😀
What a great van build! One of the best I've seen! You guys were so brave to do this, and I really admire you both!!!!! Your dog is so beautiful! Cant wait to see more videos!
Hey Carrie and Dave....a couple of questions for you...1. How do you find security with your sliding windows? Any worries about potential break-ins? 2. How longisyourPromaster? Any issues with parking? 3. What about a table for eating? Is there a slide out above the toilet? Again, inspired by your van, as it has all of the features I covet for my own one day!❣ Cate 😊
Hi Cate, we love the sliding windows and they do lock from the inside. We have not had any security issues at all yet. We probably need to be more aware of our surroundings in the towns and cities. Our Promaster is 20 feet long and has fit in most every parking place..for the most part it feels like driving a pickup truck. Our kitchen table folds up with locking hinges..it’s actually the front of our counter, wish I could show you lol. There is a slender but long drawer above the toilet. These are all great questions ...we are considering doing a new van build tour on our one year van life a anniversary coming up soon so this info helps us. Thank you 😊
So...I'm watching your van build, which is wonderful, and I hear the roaring FA-18 sound of Freedom 🇺🇸 behind you, I notice the Trona Pinnacles!! I live about 30 minutes from there.
I’ve found your videos quite helpful and appreciate the way you demonstrate how to do things that seem complicated to me but can be done! Stay safe out there and keep making videos!
Thank you. I haven't camped yet. My prior camping experience has been at the Hilton where I am used to having a shower. I obviously have to learn the word "rustic" before I actually spend the night at a location beyond the end of my street. I am trying and really want to accomplish this, hence watching the video. Have a wonderful Memorial Day. I hope you are somewhere breathtakingly beautiful. We have much to be thankful for because of our brave soldiers who have given above and beyond for the freedom we enjoy. Blessings Joanne
Baby Steps!!!! Are you joining the ranks of us van lifers? You can do it! If you are able financially I would say start with staying at state parks... most have showers! We are currently in Minnesota! Very beautiful and a bit chilly today😂 46 degrees for the high today! Carrie
Hey great job guys! We bought a pre-built promaster van conversion....it's nice but I love the personal touches so many of you put in to your own Van's....feels more homey!
Thank you! All the same we hope you enjoy your van and the experiences it delivers to you! Are you going to travel full time or part time.? Happy travels 😎
one adVANture at a time We are packing in our jobs at year end and then will be leaving to overland through Mexico in our van! We just recently started up a RUclips channel and hope to document our travels through Mexico....it’s definitely a work in progress.....
Nice!! We want to go to Mexico as well but want to do it in a small group and not alone! What’s your RUclips channel? Can’t wait to watch your adventures 😎
Hello from Northern Utah.. This woman is a true treasure he's a lucky young man.. Great van.. You should both be very proud.. Hope to see you two out and about some time..
An amazing build! You have everything you need and yet it is so well organized that it looks so big and open. And even a loveseat. Everything with a double use. And I love the shape of the area around the bed too. Awesome job.
Thank you very much. We have been making upgrades on the road and thinking of doing a new van tour. Our sound was not so great as well. Thank you for your kind comments.😀
Thank you so much! We have made a few changes and need to make an updated video. Our biggest change was going to a propane stove and heater that would have been nicer to build in at the beginning. It’s all working out though 😀 Thank you for going back and watching our tour video. 😎 Happy travels to you
I never thought to look for your earlier videos, I started following you on the next video at Alabama hills. I am impressed with the practicality of your build and the layout. You did a great job of making the the van a home. You have come a long ways in your comfort with the camera. Too bad you couldn't keep your jeep, a partner in crime on the 4x4 trails would be fun. I started building my van finely, I spend 2 hours staring at the van and then an hour of working or running off to the hardware store for the next thing needed. I will never build a van in the Summer in the South again, lol.
That's one of the most unique places in America for photography and geology! Did you get to see the Historical Movie Museum? So many movies filmed there!
Do you have any more pictures of your glitter epoxy countertop? I've been considering doing the same thing and I'd love to see yours up close. Maybe you can do a video or just post pictures on Instagram if you have an account. I really enjoyed your van, you guys did a lovely job! I'm planning a similar floor plan but with the couch and kitchen counter switched around (dog crate built in under couch) , and a bulkhead with a locking door as well as a small hanging closet behind the passenger seat for my work clothes. Your pup is a cutie! Thanks for sharing your van! :):)
Thank you for your kind words! I will try to get some pictures or maybe we can do a short video about it. Personally, I don't think I would do it again, however, my husband loves it! Pros: * inexpensive * light weight * easy construction * super customizable CONS: * Surfaces scratches easily * shows dirt. ( this may be my choice of color) * epoxy resin is expensive In all transparency, epoxy resin is kinda tricky! Do your homework and follow the directions. You are on a time limit when you mix it ( it comes in two parts) I think we possibly did not get all of the hardner in as it is VERY thick.... Pour the hardener into your mixing container first.... I think that is where we might have goofed. The surface scratches do seem to buff out if I use a little bit of wax on it. Hope this helps! Happy Building
Wow, very impressive. I like the hidden toilet and the cabinet made for it. Very well done. My RAM Promaster 3500 extended length is located on FB at Peaceful Windsong.
The last 2 years I have been drawing out floor plans for when I get my Pro Master. I have narrowed it down to the best layout for me. Guess what?? It is almost identical to your layout!! Even the curve of the walls by the bed!! I have a cubic mini in my plans though. My little couch is in the same place for the same reason! I wish I could of given you a dozen thumbs up...lol... I had to subscribe also!!
Thank You so much!!! So much time went into the planning stage. .....we were done with our build when we found out about the cubic mini! We tried really hard to think about where we could put it. There is only one place it can go..... We almost just did it!! Still might in the future! We are going to put a swivel on the driver seat too so when it is turned around it will extend the couch.
one adVANture at a time, I can't have a swivel on the driver's seat because I was told it raises the seat an inch or two. I am only 4'11" and had my foot pointed down to reach the gas...lol. When the dealership gets the electrical adjustments seat, I will try it again! I had to watch the video again!
Glad you liked it! We are coming up on our 2 year vaniversary and plan on doing a van tour 2.0 this fall. We have changed quite a lot in two years! Our biggest upgrade just happened this week ...lets just say we will stay warm if we stay in snow country (webasto heater...hint)
It’s funny but this was the first video I ever watched of you guys and I really didn’t know youtube very well. I just rewatched it and “LIKED” it! Boy how you guys have “upped” your game! I’m happy to have found you way back then! 🤙
+Discovering LockeNest too funny! We are celebrating two years of van life this December and we are doing a new “Van-Tour 2.0” (coming this fall) as so much has changed. I’m a little nervous (and maybe embarrassed) to go back and watch our original tour. Glad to hear that we have upped our game! I’m hoping you can say that exact phrase again next year! Thank you for watching and your continued support! We have the best subscribers and Patrons!!!

@@alanhudson8718 I'm with Alan, I've seen a lot of other van builds and yours has to be up there with one of the best!!!

@@oneadVANtureatatime That idea was seriously brilliant. Immediately wrote it down for when I start building out my own van this summer.
Hey guys that is one of the best van builds I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot. Congrats.
I have been researching #vanlife for well over a year and have recently purchased a Promaster. I have been struggling with how I want to design the build... I think I just found it. I LOVE what you guys have done.
Nice, how refreshing. What a contrast to the sprinter-hipster-trustfund crowd
You did an awesome job, both in build and design. You have some great features we've never seen before.

Wow your design is so classy. Great job. Ranked in my top 5 favorites. Have fun.
That's IMPRESSIVE! My hubster is in awe!!!!
The Turtle Book Worm thank you! It was a lot of work but worth it😃
Wow I absolutely love your build.
We have a 4-gallon big kahuna shower that we haven't used yet just because it has been so cold....🥶
I call him my furchild too
Nice job one of the best builds I have seen.
Nice design and build. I also like the roof top deck. Looking forward to more videos from you guys. Let the adventure begin. lol
Please feel free to ask us lots of questions as we love to be helpful and inspire others to join the lifestyle.😀
love love love your build! you two did an epic job! hope to see you on the road
Thank You! That would be awesome to meet you. We are heading to New Mexico March-ish. Let us know if you are in the area😃
@@oneadVANtureatatime we are in Idaho and will be in San Francisco in April. And possibly San Diego. and then back in Idaho mostly untill June/July
Love this van build. Feels homey. love the furbaby too. Thanks for sharing
+What are you waiting for? With Tanja thank you! I love that fur baby too! He is such a good boy!
Trying to go back and watch all of your old videos. Keep on making those vids, love them! Blessings
Thank you!! So what do you think? Have we improved? We were so nervous in front of the camera!!!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime y'all are real close to being news casters! Wait, let me take that back, y'all are way better than them! Blessings
Thank you for the kind words, Robert! We hope to see you again. 😀😀
I love the toilet it is exactly what i was thinking a slide out composting toilet when i build my van in the future!
+Heather Hilley We love it also. Took us a bit to get the compost mix right so let us know if you have any questions after you get it. Good luck with your build.
So inspiring!! One of my favorites. A beautiful van. Congratulations!
Thank you!
Love your build! And you 2 are wonderful! All the best as you discover more of yourselves and the van community. Blessings 🙏😎
Very creative and resourceful van build! We really enjoyed this tour of your home!
Super cool finding you at the magic rocks today! Thank for showing us your home. Darla says hello.
Very nice meeting you as well! We are excited for you two to start your van life. Take care and happy travels.
Had to rewatch the video so I remembered all your sewing tips on the curtains.
Thx a lot....hugs
+deb the RN Very welcome..This is almost a learn from our mistakes video. Happy we helped😀
Super cool rig, sweet too. Bedroom door arch makes it PoP. 5 stars
What a great van build! One of the best I've seen! You guys were so brave to do this, and I really admire you both!!!!! Your dog is so beautiful! Cant wait to see more videos!
Thank you!
Beautiful, functional and all-around great job! And I like the way the counter is shortened towards the back, gives you a lot of room to move around.
Thank you! Yes we like to be able to pas each other when needed. 😀
Well done. I’m building mine currently
Wonderful build. Great job! I have a Ram Promaster self made campervan & Love it! Enjoy & safe travels!
Thank You! We should be asking you for tips!
Full-time VanLifers! Good for y'all. The van is awesome, no....incredible. Great job. Thanks for the tour!
Wow! Just what I’m dreaming about!!! Thanks for that tour and ideas.
Thank You!
+Wendy Byrne thank you so much! We appreciate you watching and commenting😃
Blessings
Joanne
Baby Steps!!!! Are you joining the ranks of us van lifers? You can do it! If you are able financially I would say start with staying at state parks... most have showers!
We are currently in Minnesota! Very beautiful and a bit chilly today😂 46 degrees for the high today!
Carrie
So many great ideas, thank you!
Thank you so much!
Can’t wait to watch your adventures 😎
one adVANture at a time Steve and Elaine is our channel name....we also have a link in our instagram account @steveandelaine_
great ideas. the sleeping bag throw pillow is great
Hello from Northern Utah.. This woman is a true treasure he's a lucky young man.. Great van.. You should both be very proud.. Hope to see you two out and about some time..
+Kris Peterson thank you!
Beautiful and inspiring home. Impressive craftsmanship and thoughtful planning. Really great guys, can't wait to see more!
Thank you very much! Have a good night 😀
An amazing build! You have everything you need and yet it is so well organized that it looks so big and open. And even a loveseat. Everything with a double use. And I love the shape of the area around the bed too. Awesome job.
Just the sound of the curtain sliding would wake me up!! LOL
Very nice build.
+Cindy Urquidez yes!!! But he usually goes back to sleep until the dog get curious and opens the curtain😂
Nice!
Happy and safe travels!
Oh my goodness.....your van build is absolutely PERFECT!!! What an awesome job you did. You thought of everything!
Great job on the van tour and an excellent job on the van build and layout
This has got to be one of my top 3 favorite Van conversion ... great job you guys...
Thank you very much. We have been making upgrades on the road and thinking of doing a new van tour. Our sound was not so great as well. Thank you for your kind comments.😀
You thought of everything what a beautiful build you did guys ..this is gorgeous one of the prettiest i have seen on here
Thank you so much! We have made a few changes and need to make an updated video. Our biggest change was going to a propane stove and heater that would have been nicer to build in at the beginning. It’s all working out though 😀 Thank you for going back and watching our tour video. 😎 Happy travels to you
Your name reminds me of a video we made in Utah. “Losee trail” It was one of my most favorite boondocking locations in the last year. 😀
Love the build... Really like the way you did the sidings of the bedwith the little curtain to give you a bit of privacy when only one of you is up
+Eyicel Bazan Thank you very much! A little privacy in 72 square feet is precious. Thank you for watching.😎
It was great seeing your van build and meeting you at the 2019 Orlando Tiny House Festival 😀
Thank you for stopping by! Please feel free to ask us questions, we love to help if we can. Take care 😀
Great layout and design! So many great ideas, thanks for sharing
How did you get that van to the surface of Mars? LOL, I love the landscape! Where are you?
Thank You😂 we were at Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, California. I was playing with some nighttime photography settings.
That's one of the most unique places in America for photography and geology! Did you get to see the Historical Movie Museum? So many movies filmed there!
At 3:20 it looks like you were at Pinnacles outside of Death Valley NP
Do you have any more pictures of your glitter epoxy countertop? I've been considering doing the same thing and I'd love to see yours up close. Maybe you can do a video or just post pictures on Instagram if you have an account. I really enjoyed your van, you guys did a lovely job!
I'm planning a similar floor plan but with the couch and kitchen counter switched around (dog crate built in under couch)
, and a bulkhead with a locking door as well as a small hanging closet behind the passenger seat for my work clothes. Your pup is a cutie! Thanks for sharing your van! :):)
Thank you for your kind words!
I will try to get some pictures or maybe we can do a short video about it. Personally, I don't think I would do it again, however, my husband loves it!
Pros:
* inexpensive
* light weight
* easy construction
* super customizable
CONS:
* Surfaces scratches easily
* shows dirt. ( this may be my choice of color)
* epoxy resin is expensive
In all transparency, epoxy resin is kinda tricky!
Great build and clever multi use of items.
So nice to see a couch! It makes me sad I don't have a partner to enjoy a journey like u two have.
Just saw y’all in Port Aransas, TX. Excited to see your video there.
Wow, very impressive. I like the hidden toilet and the cabinet made for it. Very well done. My RAM Promaster 3500 extended length is located on FB at Peaceful Windsong.
+CC thank you! We will have to find you on facebook😃
Yes! It does raise the seat. That is why we initially didn't do it.
I like the ceiling, it does make it seem like a separate room!
+Paula McDowell yes! Thank you
GREAT JOB guys! Very unique counters and fold out extra counter/desk/table.
Thank you! So much has changed in a year and a half!!!! We need to do another updated van tour😃
I knew this was going to be a great video from 1:57 ... sweet build.
Great job and a bunch of new ideas for a Van built.
