Nice heather, my Safari Condo on a ProMaster 3500 has a Webasto comes standard with a 7950 BTU and I got the optional 13,000 BTU, I like the dry heat it produces. Again guys, I find you folks honest and genuine, best wishes and keep those drone pictures coming in.
Oh wow! you are set on the BTU's!! Do you have any advice about daily use? Have you used it in higher elevations? Any problems with it clogging up? Our heater is gas and does high elevation kit is not available like the espar heaters. Drone pictures are a must for us! We just got back from backpacking in the Wind River Range in Wyoming where drones were not allowed......in fact, if you were caught with a drone in your presence you would be fined. WE TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD!! The area was so prestine....you would not want a drone buzzing by! But oh my the drone shots would have been out of this world!!

Really glad you guys decided to upgrade the heater. I continue to debate with myself to this day whether I should have gone with a webasto or espar instead of going the propex/propane direction. It’s definitely convenient to not need to worry about propane, and when I originally did the planning, I was not thinking that we would end up with the under-the-van propane tank that we have, which was a significant additional expense (tank plus needing to then find a new home for the spare tire). The other thing I did not consider was the built in nipple for accessing the fuel tank - I didn’t realize that existed, and assumed we’d be punching holes in the van’s gas tank. The thing that originally won me over to the propex side was the worry-free high altitude operation, which I certainly do appreciate. The other thing I really like about our propex is the fact that we were able to mount it under the van (it’s the HS2211 model) so that we didn’t need to worry about seat removal etc. It’s also extremely neat having all the ducting under the van. All in all, I probably would have gone the webasto route if I had been aware of all of the factors and costs, but I do love our propex. Again, congrats!
Congratulations looks like everything went well. This will be a big benefit for your adventures. Its good to see your comfort levels will be greatly improved. 👍👍👍

I have a Webasto 2000 STC Petrol. It has coked twice. The first time I serviced it, I installed a new burner assembly (~$150, and that was probably not necessary). The 2nd time I used carb cleaner and a map torch to clean the burner assembly. I don’t think the glow pin is much of a concern (and that can be tested with a 12v power source). What is a concern is that the heater will have to be serviced periodically. That means deinstalled and disassembled and cleaned. I recommend you have a new set of gaskets on hand. Congrats on the new upgrade! I bet the dry heat makes a huge difference! We just experienced our first snowstorm in the van in Colorado. Ran the Olympic Wave3 overnight as you guys have and did ok! Will be purchasing a Wave6 for the trailer soon.
The wave 3 and wave 6 do a great job!! we tend to find ourselves in quite cold temps more often and with proper ventilation our wave 6 just doesnt keep us warm enough.
Just wondering why you didn't place the heater in a more central location of the vehicle? The sleeping position at the back next to the door is going to be really chilly. Or did I miss that in the video. May I suggest you placing model info in your info section?
The heating hose is centered right down the middle, it does a 90-degree turn between our seats. It's been working awesome. Last night it was 5 degrees outside and a toasty 72 inside. We will list the model number, can't believe we forgot that. Thank you. 😀

We are pretty dang exited about it! Be prepared to see us in some snowy weather.....not too much as we are still 2WD but we will let the snow push us south this winter.
+LunaTune we should have done this from the beginning but you never know what you’ll need until your on the road living full time 😃 and we quite frequently find ourselves in VERY COLD temps🥶
The webasto is working great. I (carrie) use it daily!!! best purchase ever! The elevation limitation kinda sucks....there is a way you can recalibrate it but we have not really looked into this. We have a VERY small battery bank for our house battery so we wired it so that we can also run off the van battery. It really doesnt use that much energy. We do not run it full time. When it is really cold we use it maybe 6 hours/
@@oneadVANtureatatime ah thanks. You guys totally rock! I’m off adventuring next November if border opens. I’m Canadian Montreal. I’m getting the Espar with altitude automatic thing. Great photography!!!!!!
could you show some pictures of how you routed the duct work ( from the video it looks like you cut thru the step/frame ) or did you build up the floor in the cab area? great job on the install ( I'm doing mine now)
Do you have the Ram swivel seats? We do on our PM, so I'm hoping it's as simple as yours looks. Also, any issues afterwards with the airbags (signal, etc.) after removing those?
+BJ Sorensen we have swivels on both seats. We swivel the passenger seat everyday!! We NEVER swivel the driver seat but partly that’s because our sofa is right behind the seat. No issues with the airbags. We have completely removed the passenger seat to install a webasto heater.... still no problem. To do it safely we did disconnect the battery. Smart choice!!! you may want to get spare "glow plug" heard few say that is about only thing that happens....People are making them for work sheds and making them to go in windows [in/out] they use little fuel and heat the whole place..i just got one for winter as electric goes out ,i will have heat ,im hoping to find someone to make a box so i can put it in window if needed...
Congrats on your heater! I just installed mine and it wasn't an easy install... I a filmed a "How to" video on it to try and help some people out who are also trying to install it DIY
Congratulations on your new heater! We are currently putting ours to the test in Idaho. Nice job doing a how-to video, I am certain many will benefit. 😀
Hey there, I have a 2019 Promaster, and I’m thinking about installing the Webssto. Is the exhaust pipe quiet? I need to be stealth on a city street and I’m wondering if someone walking past the van can hear the exhaust, say at 5am?
Hi Jim. We have the standard seat base and swivel. I just measured and we still have 4 inches of clearance above the heater. All check on the wire gauge, I don't recall currently.
Installing a heater with a thermostat is high on my list when I get my van in 6 weeks. I will be using the Goal Zero 1500x just wondering if you have the heater on all night how much power that it need?
good question! I know our frig uses 20% of our goal zero 1400 in a 24 hour period. It will be interesting to see how it does. We dont expect to use it all that much at night.... more for comfort when we are awake!
Hi Shane! We are loving our Webasto heater! We should have started with this one. We just got new tires. Our Falken AT3’ ended up lasting for 61000 miles and we were very happy with them.
Any tips for getting the heat shield off right under the seat? Did you have to completely drop the muffler as well to remove the heat shield? I’m not seeing any way around having to do that:(
Don’t be afraid to bend it a little and pull it down on the drivers side. It takes time and patience and is probably the toughest part of the install. No need to remove the muffler. Wish I was there to help you.
@@oneadVANtureatatime man wish you were too! Ya so far that really has been the worst part... and working in all the tight spaces under the van. I’m feeling like my exhaust pipe and air intake pipe are really short and will be too close together.. I’m pretty sure i have the same kit as you, did you feel the same? Or did you extend the air intake?
I felt the same way about the exhaust and intake being too close. We ordered an aftermarket extension for the exhaust and moved it to the driver's side of the vehicle. I will send you the link here as soon as I find it. We did get the muffler with our kit which is needed to make it easier to add on the extension hose.
www.heatso.com/search.php?search_query=Exhaust%20hose§ion=product I also ordered two more hose clamps from Heatso. Everything worked great. I hope this helps.
Hi, was the fuel line that came with your kit hard plastic? Mine is,and doesn't seem to easily fit into the fuel nipple of the unit. How do you get around this?
The main fuel line is the hard plastic. The kit should also come with flexible rubber gas tubing as well. These small pieces of rubber go over the hard plastic lines and clamp on for a secure fit.
What is the reason you couldn’t directly connect the fuel line to the snap-in adapter? Is it because it’s hard plastic and doesn’t fit? You used the elbow reducer to make the connection to the Webasto fuel line. Also I really appreciate your video on this. It’s helpful to see how you guys did it.
+idkarts Dave said yes, it was hard plastic. Glad this video was helpful! We are happy to share the fittings and connectors.... it made the job so much easier! Super happy someone shared that with us before we installed the heater😄
We installed a swivel on both seats. The passenger swivels around perfectly and easy! The driver seat is another story! Getting it to swivel past the steering wheel and the couch we built behind the driver seat is such a chore we don’t even try anymore 🤷♀️
congrats...good job....would have been nice to see your hot air duct work..I take it that the outside heater casing does not get to hot to melt or burn anything...... but always remember --just say no to crack...................LOL.............;-)... the plumber was nearly exposed..........................................
Great suggestion! I should have showed that. We did cut away a bit of the floor board just where the heat tube comes out....that does get pretty hot. The webasto heater itself seems to be fine on every test that i have performed.....I was wondering about how warm the heater casing would get as well. LOL on the plumber!!
I am happy we mounted it outside the vehicle! I do notice the knock at first but then it gets drowned out by the fan. I hear there are ways to quiet the sound but it has not bothered me enough to research it yet.😜
Thanks for this video! Could you comment on what options you purchased from the heatso website. I'd like to install mine in the exact same location and want to make sure I have all the necessary pieces. Thanks
Hi Bill. We added on the exhaust muffler only. Then later we bought an exhaust hose extender through Amazon, only because I could not find it on the heatso site. I feel a lot better having the exhaust further away from the intake hose. Let me know if you want the Amazon link for the exhaust hose.
Great content! I was wondering how you removed the exhaust heat shield? I have apromaster and a couple of the bolts holding down tho shield also hold up the exhaust pipe,so I was wondering if you dropped that down too?
I was wondering the same thing when unbolting them. The muffler stays in place just fine so no worries about that. I did have to bend the heat shield to rotate it off but it does bend back into place.
@@oneadVANtureatatime you are the man. I took all 6 bolts off and it didn't fall on me!! Haha taking off the loose heat guard took about 3 means once the bolts were off. :))
Hi Shirley. We ordered it as an add-on with the initial order so it did come in the same box. The muffler makes it easy to add on an extension exhaust hose on as well. We did this because we didn't want exhaust fumes coming in the van door and also to space it out from the intake hose. We ran it to the driver's side of the van. I hope this helps you. 😎 We are loving our heater.
Thanks for posting!! Question: I’m working on my install in my promaster and it seems like most people do the mounting plate while you did not! How did you get around that? I like the idea of not drilling a huge hole but it seems like most people say you need the plate. Thanks in advance!
+Hadleyday thanks for your question? I will ask Dave tomorrow. Please be patient as we are currently working 12 hour shifts (seasonal work...beet harvest in Montana)
Wow. I wanted to get one of these but now after seeing this.. I am not sure if want to do this by myself. I still want it but I now know what to expect. Thank You! You probably saved me a buncha headaches. You guys must be really happy you got a real heater! Congrats!!
we are thrilled!! Dave was smiling from ear to ear. He knows this means he can get me to stay longer in snow country!! The real test will be how it performs this winter with our Goal Zero 1400.
How have you like the Webasto so far? have you tried it at altitude yet? we are seriously considering a Webasto 2000 STC for our promaster as well. thanks!
We are loving the Webasto! That said, we are at 8000 feet tonight and we are not going to use it because we have not done the high altitude adjustment yet. We are worried it will need cleaned and maintained more often if we push it too much above 5000 feet. We have some cold temperatures forecasted so we will be going to lower elevations soon! I wish it came with the high elevation adjustment out of the box. We still recommend it. 😀
I was wondering how many BTUs that was? And it does run on gas right? I'm so happy for you guys that will make the difference for a minute there I thought they was going to do the happy dance LOL
How many BTU's...good question? I will need to research this. Yes, it is gas and YES.....Dave was smiling from ear to ear. He knows this means he can get me to stay longer in snow country!!
I also have one in my house you keep the whole place warm all the way up till January until it get it really gets cold but it's pretty good then I run it back up for my wood stove so I don't have to do a for feeding
You question is extremely timely!!! We are currently working on two videos about how to choose a heater that is right for you. If you choose a webasto …. How to keep it running efficiently. If you can answer these questions below… we can give you some good insight on choosing a heater that is best for you. Please send your answers to Oneadvantureatatime@yahoo.com. Or you can answer here as well. It’s just harder for me to see replies in RUclips. 1 ) where do you see yourself in winter? Above 5000ft? Above 7000ft? Do you want to follow warmer temperatures OR do you want to go snow boarding or skiing? 2) are you wanting a gas or diesel model? 3) what rig will you installing this heater in? Thanks for watching! Carrie
Congratulations on your success. I’m happy for you guys! It’s amazingly convenient that ram left that extra fuel tank port that you could dedicate to the webasto. I like it when things just work out that way. Can you tell me what hole saw you used that cut through so cleanly? (For potentially adding lithium batteries/cabling through the floor)
Very cool heater. Gas or diesel options, that cool. Didn’t know they used a gas one. That adapter port off the pump is totally winning. Never mind Dodge put an access panel above the pump. I mean, how easy can it get. No dropping the tank, or drilling the tank. Wow 😳. Nice I stall, guess we will see how y’all do this winter 🥶 👍🏼
A few things: 1 - Your disclaimer at the beginning isn't exactly true, but what is a larger concern is buying from Heatso and other off-shore companies. Heatso will do NOTHING to help you if you have a warranty claim. Then your life is harder. 2 - Kits that are sold outside of the US don't have some components that are included in the US kit, one of them is super important (see point 3) 3 - The floor that you bolted the heater to isn't flat, there are raised and lowered sections. That rubber gasket on the bottom of the heater won't seal against that. That could cause exhaust gas to enter the cabin. You could wake up dead. The 4" hole is less painful than exhaust gasses leaking in. That mounting plate allows you to use a gasket that makes up for the uneven floor surface. 4 - Those clamps on the 1/4" fuel line will cause air to leak into the fuel line, and cause the heater to not start, giving you a code 1 or 2. ONLY use the webasto clamps. You can ditch the 1/4" hose and use a simple hose webasto sells (P/N 1319718A and 1310763A for the clamp). 5 - Altitude adjustment. Sorry, you wrong on the altitude adjustment. Do a search for VMACS youtube channel. He is an ACTUAL webasto dealer and has correct info.

The heating hose is centered right down the middle, it does a 90-degree turn between our seats. It's been working awesome. Last night it was 5 degrees outside and a toasty 72 inside. We will list the model number, can't believe we forgot that. Thank you. 😀

Great install. It’s nice to have good help especially good help with experience. HAPPY TRAILS
We agree!
How awesome to get that heater! Congrats, can't wait to see the places you will go. I love the snow too.
We are pretty dang exited about it! Be prepared to see us in some snowy weather.....not too much as we are still 2WD but we will let the snow push us south this winter.
Funny...just finished watching your videos on the wave 3 and this one popped up.
+LunaTune we should have done this from the beginning but you never know what you’ll need until your on the road living full time 😃 and we quite frequently find ourselves in VERY COLD temps🥶
Wow that's a great upgrade! You made it look so easy! Great video.
Thanks so much!
Great video guys! Congrats! I’m so glad I was there to help. It was a lot of fun! Can’t wait to see you again. Safe travels. See you soon.
You're the best!
Thanks for posting what is the part needed to use at higher altitudes? Thanks
The 3 of you will be toasty warm it's a good thing you had Bill to help you with the electric 🌡️😃👣🐾👣✌️👍🚐
You got that right!
Perfect come on over to Canada!!!! Can't wait.
They wont let us in!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime or out ! Wanted to go to California for the winter cant enter the USA from Canada !
I can't tell if you put your pump on an angle or not but they're not supposed to be straight
Hi guys. How’s the wabasto working out. Does it drain your battery. I’m getting the Espar for automatic altitude adjustment reason
Hi guys. How’s the wabasto working out. Does it drain your battery. I’m getting the Espar for automatic altitude adjustment reason
Thanks for the video
Really enjoyed, appreciate the Promaster content. Keep up the good work.
+JP Adventures thank you!
Great Video, thanks, stay safe and well.
Thanks, you too!
Very smart going with a quality Webasto instead of cheap Chinese crap. You won't regret it.
could you show some pictures of how you routed the duct work ( from the video it looks like you cut thru the step/frame ) or did you build up the floor in the cab area? great job on the install ( I'm doing mine now)
+John Rogers hi! Could you please email us at oneadvantureatatime@yahoo.con and I will send some pictures

Thank you so much for all the helpful links! VERY helpful indeed (Love all your video's}
You are so welcome! and thank you for watching!!

Nice! I’m loving all these collaborations:) can’t wait to be back out there with y’all!
Definitely!! When are you guys planning on hitting the road again?
one adVANture at a time plan is by the end of the month and headed North until the snow forces us back down. Then West:)
Hey Guys,
Congrats on your upgrade 👌🏻
Could you share the part numbers for the plastic and metal elbows you used to connect to the gas tank?
Thanks 😊
+Gayrat Akhmedov we are LOVING our webasto heater.
the part numbers should be available in the video description!
I am curious about the noise level? What is the highest altitude you have run this at? After running it for a winter, have you had any problems?
Hot damn... Good to hear! I have subscribed and will be following your journey as I start my Vanlife.....:) Smile
Welcome! Maybe we will see you on the road.
Thank you so much! I am still researching how to properly use it so it lasts a REALLY long time. I will add glow plug to my list!!
Glow plug?
Congrats on your heater! I just installed mine and it wasn't an easy install... I a filmed a "How to" video on it to try and help some people out who are also trying to install it DIY
Congratulations on your new heater! We are currently putting ours to the test in Idaho. Nice job doing a how-to video, I am certain many will benefit. 😀
Since you put your heater sideways, did you have to cut open a hole into your plastic seat panel?
If you are referring to the plastic panel on the side of the seat we removed it completely.
Hey there, I have a 2019 Promaster, and I’m thinking about installing the Webssto. Is the exhaust pipe quiet? I need to be stealth on a city street and I’m wondering if someone walking past the van can hear the exhaust, say at 5am?
Awesome! What model is the heater? The ones I keep finding are for diesel engines.
Webasto Air Top 2000 STU
@@oneadVANtureatatime Thank you! Your videos are very helpful
It fits ok under a lowered seat swivel?
Wiring size? I need to run any electrical now.
Hi Jim. We have the standard seat base and swivel. I just measured and we still have 4 inches of clearance above the heater. All check on the wire gauge, I don't recall currently.
Great info and awesome upgrade! Not enough Roodle though! 🤙😁
You got that right! but roodle was right there under the van with the guys at one point!
That push to connect piece that attaches to the fuel tank, Anyone know if they have that for a transit?
Great video! It shows that Dave is really happy, he can't stop smiling thru the whole video!!! Thank you for sharing! What model did you get?
Dave was smiling from ear to ear. He knows this means he can get me to stay longer in snow country!!
How is your diesel heater working out? How about the tires?
Hi Shane! We are loving our Webasto heater! We should have started with this one. We just got new tires. Our Falken AT3’ ended up lasting for 61000 miles and we were very happy with them.
@@oneadVANtureatatime what source did you use? I see many carry it. Walmart, local tire stores. Do they make noise when on highway?
We did get the muffler with our kit which is needed to make it easier to add on the extension hose.
www.heatso.com/search.php?search_query=Exhaust%20hose§ion=product
I also ordered two more hose clamps from Heatso.
Terrific job and video!
Thank You!!
Maybe a silly question, but how would one find a professional installer for one of these heaters?
Why did you choose the Webasto gas over the Espar D2 gas?
What is the reason you couldn’t directly connect the fuel line to the snap-in adapter? Is it because it’s hard plastic and doesn’t fit?
You used the elbow reducer to make the connection to the Webasto fuel line.
Also I really appreciate your video on this. It’s helpful to see how you guys did it.
+idkarts Dave said yes, it was hard plastic. Glad this video was helpful! We are happy to share the fittings and connectors.... it made the job so much easier! Super happy someone shared that with us before we installed the heater😄
Did you guys have to do anything special because of your swivel seat? Or did it clear all around?
Very cool! Great idea!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😊
Impressive..well done
whats up with the super loud knocking from the fuel pump
Ours came with the seven-day timer that we are still trying to learn 😆 I may have selected it when we purchased.
@@oneadVANtureatatime yes, please for the link
Nice job !
Thank you! We are loving this heater so far. What a huge difference it makes.
Nice video, now rush in to snow n film it! :)
+HappyJoy TV we did! It’s coming out on Saturday!
Good job 👍 could have pointed out that the unit was for gasoline and not diesel early on and price
Great point! Two important pieces of info!
To everyone looking to buy: you can get a generic brand diesel heater from Wal-Mart for about $150. I've have one for 1 year. Works perfect.
we considered the knock off brand
Did you have to order the muffler separate or do you get everything in the unboxing when you order the heater?
I have been wanting to get one myself.
Its so awesome!! I cannot wait to have it running....nice and warm inside.......and snowing outside!!
Great video thank you for sharing, this is something we will tackle ourselves, especially after watching your video! Paul & Magen

Hey where’s Bill now😂- I would pay well to get some help on an install!
Wow. I wanted to get one of these but now after seeing this.. I am not sure if want to do this by myself. I still want it but I now know what to expect. Thank You! You probably saved me a buncha headaches. You guys must be really happy you got a real heater! Congrats!!

+Funzee Vanzee we got the Webasto 2000 STC
@@oneadVANtureatatime thank you very much. Keep enjoying your travels.
Thanks for the guidance so far!! Did you silicon the unit directly to the floor or did you use the rubber piece and just silicon that to the floor?
hmmmm... I will have to ask dave and get back to you. I cannot remember...lol
@@oneadVANtureatatime Thanks, i appreciate it! Ours should be delivered soon; then we start the install!
Okay I live in Canada - 40 and I have a diesel heater too
Nice! This is great advice for those thinking their little buddy heater will be good enough. 😀
I also have one in my house you keep the whole place warm all the way up till January until it get it really gets cold but it's pretty good then I run it back up for my wood stove so I don't have to do a for feeding
Is this worth it vs the way cheaper Chinese Diesel Heater?
Hi Ron. That is yet to be determined. I have heard good things either way.
"nervous energies " lol. are you gonna do a review soon?

We agree! I will ask dave about the whole saw.
Yes, the real test is to see how it does with our Goal Zero battery bank and how fuel it uses.
A few things:
1 - Your disclaimer at the beginning isn't exactly true, but what is a larger concern is buying from Heatso and other off-shore companies. Heatso will do NOTHING to help you if you have a warranty claim. Then your life is harder.
2 - Kits that are sold outside of the US don't have some components that are included in the US kit, one of them is super important (see point 3)
3 - The floor that you bolted the heater to isn't flat, there are raised and lowered sections.

_So, glad you went with a diesel heater. : ) It doesn't matter the name brand, you'll be very happy with your choice. The plus is you'll grain more room up on the countertop._
Its the Gasoline Heater not the Diesel version.
we did go with a gasoline heater. We would have preferred the diesel but did not want an extra fuel tank inside the van.
one adVANture at a time no worries the fuel doesn’t matter. Just glad you got one, and you’ll be safer, and warm! : )
Everyone planning on Skoolie Palooza?
I think so! We are going to wait until the snow pushes us south though!
I looked up the fuel pump for the Ford Transit, and it looks like it has that extra port for the quick adapter 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽I hope! That is great info! I love how much you can learn from everyone sharing their stories, this is the best video I’ve seen so far on installing the Wabasto!
Thank you, Bradley! We have heard the ford transit has the same fuel tank tap as well. We usually do full how-to videos but we held back a little on this on due to liability reasons. I can picture someone smoking during an install. 😂 Glad you liked the video and hope to see you on the road.
That is the worst heater packaging i have ever seen, to say the redicelous high cost of the Webasto.
3 days to install it 😬 it's normally a handful of hrs even when tapping into the tank.
I have installed 3 of them now. Got it down to about 5 hours. It's definitely not a fun project.
