tbf, death in soul eater was a lot more terrifying back in the day. however, he decided that if he's gonna hang around and teach a bunch a children, he probably shouldn't look like a horrific nightmare creature, so he changed his looks to be more kid-friendly.
That is literally the most fitting and genius way to handle something like that. I love it lmao
My favorite part of the original anime even if its probably during the parts where it delves from the original content because of the time it was created is when Death has Death Scythe or Makas dad speak with the present guy wearing earbuds on his behalf so he can read DSs lips and bro makes an offhand Joke regarding Death whoch makes Death revert his goofy ass voice to that ancient badass voice just to say "mind speaking that one again?"
It's a fun way of showing that his niceness and nerdy ass voice is by no means a sign of weakness and he can easily show he means business after all this time by dropping his octaves from bucktooth science nerd to James Earl Jones at the drop of a hat.
That they referenced the song "Nightmare before Christmas - This is Halloween" via venom is even funnier here considering that the second most viewed version of that song here on YT is.... a SoulEater AMV :D
1. Its kind of a shame this Death Battle was made while the King in Black storyline was still going. Because if it was God of Symbiotes Venom vs Crona, then it would be a VERY different story
(While we don't exactly have a measurement of how powerfull that version of Venom is, considering he was equal to Knull, who's first ever feat we see him pull off is *killing a Celestial* , I'd say that makes them both near cosmic levels of power)
2. Medusa is unironically up there with Cersei (GoT) and Hera (Greek Mythology in general) for worst mothers in fiction.
Medusa winning Worst Mother of the Year.

If your ever curious about it, Soul Eater's anime doesn't follow the original manga's story to it's conclusion, so it's quite tamer in comparison. Always loved that premise of a halloweentown-like world where insanity and hallucinations are a disease that infects souls like wildfire, and the music is amazing too
Medusa is a witch, and funnily enough Stein is a scientist work as a Meister and teacher at Death Academy. There are many bat sh*t crazy things in Soul Eater, the manga has some pretty acid trip moments.

I love the fact that they added the lyrics from "This is Halloween" into this Death Battle since I only learned about Soul Eater through the animated music video where they used the same song done by Marilyn Manson.
Edit: I just went back to watch the AMV again, and the very lyrics Venom said were Crona and Ragnarok's introduction into the song.
First we had a screaming sun and now a creepy moon.
I remember when this was first announced and my first thought was "yeah Venom's losin" the matchup makes sense but the advantage was more in Crona's Court

I believe you guys would enjoy soul eater. It’s like BWBY or My Hero Academy, but with people slaying demons instead of monsters.
Funny how this came out a couple months before king in black were venom becomes a God. I still agree with the outcome at the time of its release but how the tables would have turned if they waited a season.

I would HIGHLY recommend watching Soul Eater. It's a solid show - the fights are great and the relationships between the characters are interesting.
The main characters Maka and Soul are a pair you'll love watching fight alongside each other.
Solid show, but the manga is way better. Wish it was the manga in anime format, instead of different ending.

@minireaperYT to be fair that was still at the ass end of the era where anime either ended on a premature cliffhanger indefinitely until more material came out, or they literally made up their own bullshit from then on to do something. Apparently the original FMA anime only got a good rep pass because the mangaka at least gave some thoughts on what to do with it. Otherwise you have stuff like the 90s Hellsing that basically stopped trying to go off of source right after the Valentine attack. Not to say it didn't make some original content before that but the whole thing became a mess.

Didn’t know much about Crona, but they definitely surprised me.
And yes, Soul Eater is as crazy as any other Shonen anime.

Like how their weakness to loud sounds and fire is because Knull quite literally *forged* the first Symbiote from the corpse of a Celestial. The banging of his hammer and the infernal heat of his forge literally imprinted on the first Symbiote and it manifested in a weakness for all future generations

so its funny, because Crona is a "He" in the anime, and androgynous in the manga. Soul Eater is the perfect anime to watch during Halloween. Its aesthetic is Halloween town meets 90s gangster hip-hop, it's so good.

One of the most UNDERRATED episodes of Death Battle in my honest opinion. I LOVE Soul Eater and Crona is my favorite character, and given this is the 3rd episode of Death Battle I’ve ever watched, I have slight bias, lol
There is a whole inside joke kind of with Crona cause no one knows that characters gender haha

Fun fact: Crona's gender was never confirmed.
It would make crona's story more interesting if it was. For example if crona was male if would give further evidence of the abuse medusa has given them by dressing them as something they don't want.

I'm sorry this is not even an equal match. Ragnarok signatural move is screaming in wavelenght that obstruct your soul. It would kill venom instantly.
How ironic that the ones to save the world from the Demon God (Kishin) are Crona & Ragnarok. By the way, something that the lore here did not cover is that the Kishin is so dangerous and was defeated and sealed by the Death God (Shinigami), because his soul emits a type of passive wavelength frequency that induces madness on EVERYONE ON EARTH. Like the whole world, literally. There are different kinds of madness in the series, and Kishin induces the madness of primordial fear. The kind of fear that is like a primordial instinct of survival. The fear of death. You will grow so paranoid and scared of everyone and everything around you, thinking that they are out to kill you, that you actually kill them first, out of survival instincts. Imagine a whole world consumed by this fear and everyone was killing one another. It is total anarchy and chaos. This is what the Kishin can do JUST BY MERELY EXISTING AND BEING ALIVE, even if he is doing absolutely nothing and is hiding himself out of the same fear on the very Moon itself.
That's why the series's priority is to defeat and kill the Kishin. To save the world from such a fate.
Depression + anxiety×loneliness= Crona, just to sum it up. Crona's story is pretty dark, and painful. Venom would have lost even if Crona didn't use Ragnarok's sound based attacks, the gap was simply that big in power.
I WANT to pick Crona, but if i remember correctly, the main body is one big weakness...I want to say Venom but if I remember correctly, high pitch sound was its weakness...Imma pickt Crona...cuz I love Souleater

I highly recommend yall watching Soul Eater. U seem to be into anime and its short but an incredible watch. On the level if not better then RWBY which ik u both love.

Time to watch SoulEater. Also, you both kept using the "she/her" pronoun to refer to Chrona despite the guys at DB going above and beyond to use "they/them". To my knowledge, the series never once confirms Chronas gender and Medusa doesnt clarify either. Surprised neither of you caught that.
Would you guys ever consider reacting to the King of Fighters XV playable mod trailer? There's a promo Studio Still put out showcasing the specials for all the characters. The mod gives the whole game English voice acting, something the official version doesn't include, and I think you'll be impressed with the high quality of the cast!

I'm really late but you should watch Soul eater's anime, the whole show is halloween style, witches, zombies, frankenstein, werewolves, dragons, is really cool how they mixed all of it and how they take a lot from western myths
I can share some information on Crona. As well some details on Soul Eater. 😉
So with soul eater being a very different type of anime that have a similar style of Naruto but being dealing with Souls, it seems to be crazy to see on thr tv or reading in the manga. So about Crona, they seem to the first Non-Binary character in the show. As in the anime, they use “Masculine” but in the manga, they use “Feminine” So the creator leave the community guessing on what gender they want Crona to be. As it still be a mystery today. Also a little detail on the moon. If you see more blood oozing out of the moon, it symbolizes that the person is going to die soon or quickly by how much thr moon ooz blood out of its mouth. 😰
So I hope you two watch Soul Eater as it’s a good anime to watch but it’s short with only one season. But it be entertaining to watch. 😉

The whole "Symbiote God" thing is a really cool addition to Venom and is involved in arguably Venom's best run. This guy created the necrosword which would be used by Gorr and once hunted Silver Surfer

Something you always have to account for in Death Battle, is their bias against Marvel characters.

as the black box stated, crona's gender was never revealed. could be a boy, could be a girl. we simply don't know. not that it really matters.
Neither, they are non-binary and use they/them
In the anime Crona has male pronouns, but in the Manga they have gender neutral pronouns
@@wickedTrickster That was a mistake on the translators part, in the original Japanese they always use gender neutral pronouns.
The mis-translation wasn't out of any maliciousness though. Non-binary characters weren't as common in media at the time and they didn't want to use 'it' when referring to them.
