Generation Z is the last generation that will be alive, technically. There’s a very low chance of Generation Alpha surviving since G-A is the newest generation.
Joel Somich | Why did I say “technically”? I said it because basically, it is possible that generation z can still survive. Not necessarily, but there’s hope
When the older generations are blaming us for not fixing up the problems, but they are the ones who caused it in the first place, letting us pick up all the broken pieces.
very true, however you can look at statistics and can say that members of a generation (age + exposure to specific cultural zeitgeists) on AVERAGE are more likely to fit into certain categories
We're so addicted to smartphones. Every time I walk out the door, you see a bunch of humanoid kids, teenagers and 20-something year olds staring down at their phones instead of looking where they're going. I am also like this sometimes, as a 22 year old. We ARE total humanoids!
When I went to Mexico, man it was a different vibe. Hardly any phones and all conversations were eye to eye. I think it's because US is full of different cultures, races, religions and opinions that it's hard to get along with anyone so the best thing is to look at your phone lol.
Gen Z is the most optimistic generation! Gen Z having higher rates of suicide, depression, and anxiety. Both because of genetics and the overall state of the world: *Are we a joke to you?*

I know, right? These differences just highlight the changes that occur as you get older. Now I recognize that there are people of Gen Z who are adults with jobs. They are punching the clock and earning a living. But even the oldest of Gen Z aren't even 30 yet.
I also think half of the stuff is BS as it is - they can multitask - watching tv and chatting lol :D dude in the 50s people watch tv and did the dishes whats so brave about it. Or remember back in 2005 when people would go together to the shopping mall to buy stuff while sharing opinions - it the goddamn same thing - just the medium is changed due to the internet. Also, if you are 15-20 and you are pessimistic - tough life mate.
And in time everything this video attributes to Millennials will be true about Gen Z, and everything they're saying about Gen Z will be true about the next generation. This video acts like these qualities are exclusive to the generation they're talking about, but it's not. Gen Z is good at multi-tasking because they're in their early twenties, not because there is something special about their generation.
I'm a millennial working in a high school full of gen z and this is... not 100% accurate. The biggest difference between millennials and gen z is that gen z grew up around technology and social media a heck of a lot more than millennials. Other than that, the current gen z in high school isn't much different from millennial teens back in the day- some are optimistic, some are angsty, some are driven, some aren't. Don't know why everyone is getting so butthurt over this video 🤷🏻♀️ define yourself and don't let bs labels like this define you.
Davis O'Brien I don’t think the original commenter meant it that way. It’s definitely the type of memes teens in the Gen Z category find funny nowadays(ironic tik toks, deep fried memes, offensive memes etc.).
that's because some people (especially those born in the 90s) aren't sure if they belong in the group or not. I've searched countless sources online and people kept swinging the cut-off year to be considered a millennial is it until the 1990s or until the 2000s.
I was born in 2000. I had four siblings before me that are millennials and I grew up with them like they were the same generation as me. I still remember my Dreamcast and GameCube! I grew up with Facebook as well. I don’t really feel like early Gen Z has much in common with late Gen Z.
Lol as an 2000 born early gen z, I can confirm, I feel grounded around my 1998-2000 born friends but whenever I talked to my 5 years younger sibling, I have to work hard to navigate the conversation to not be called a boomer. Lol I also have to talk to her for the sake keeping up with current affair to not have to suffer hours of scrolling cringe Tiktok videos
I am 100% millennial because my sisters are elder millennials and I’m the only 90s kid, so growing up, I do go through what xenials go through but because of the generational gap, I get excluded from all the grown up genx things and I end up growing up with all the millennial things alone (ie reality tv, matrix, y2k, early consoles, blackberries, celebs crash and burn, etc. oh and also all the good Pixar dreamworks wars). It can be very isolating in this situation even if you have siblings and you have things that only you understand.
rueben cristobal the majority of gen z's are still teenagers. I don't think you should expect a teenager to find a cure to cancer or negotiate a trade war deal with China
because here in America paying public schools to advertise us millenials growing up POUNDED IN OUR BRAINS Yelling at us that we need to go to college for REAL EDUCATION! even though u dont. and that the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND BUSH Act was a GREAT THING in this country...bunch of crock of shit! im glad i graduated High School and stayed Dedt free!
We also had to deal with the Great Recession of 08. Gen z wasn’t old enough to notice everything falling apart. I remember I was 19 when it happened watching people I knew my whole life losing their homes and getting their cars repoed was horrible.
I like how nobody can describe what a millennial is correctly. It's almost like the concept doesn't exist and media and corporations just use it as a way to market products.
Generations are very vague. There is no clear line. Honestly I was born in 1999 and I have some traits of a millenial, some of Z. You can pretty much decide for yourself what generation you feel part of if you are kind of in the middle like me, of course I can claim I am a baby boomer but that's ridiculous. But in the end, why does it even matter what generation you are in? Do people really need something else relatable to feel satisfied in life?
HA I get 👍 If anything I'm like: "Nothing in life matter's, so what? I'm still living aren't I?!" So I guess that's a Gen Z quality I have!!! (Note: I was born in 1996)
I'm a Millennial and I'm blown away by how cool and confident so much of Gen Z is. When I was 15 I could barely put an outfit together and my self-esteem was in the dumpster. They are also a lot more socially aware at a younger age surely due to the internet. I think Millennials shouldn't fall into the cycle of the older generation hating the next. We can learn a lot from them and I think despite some of them doing stupid things like the Tidepods they have a good head on their shoulders.
Baby boomers: Baby making machines Gen X: trail of ex’s tears. Gen Y: WHY were we born? Gen Z: The last generation to be born because they’re doomed with the apocalypse.
king Gummybear (gen z here). Deep dark souls reference. That game kicks ass Anyway a reason that many of us are depressed/saddened is because we know how fucked countries are with pc culture and worried about our future jobs being automatised by machines
We're not. Society has just become more open to the discussion of depression. Also, Being a teenager contributes to this. Every teen goes through that phase.
As a millennial, this is how I see the differences between us and Gen Z. Millennials are the disillusioned and fatalist generation. We were raised in a time of hope and given instructions how to reach that dream, then when we did the things, everything collapsed. We were called entitled and should be grateful to have any job, so we did. We took on 2-3 jobs just to scrap by. We banded together, shared what we had, and accepted that everything was fleeting, so try to find small joys in the moment. Which is why we're apparently killing every market out there. We're patient and understanding, because we look at the person across from us and see ourselves-- sure that the waiter, the cashier, the uber driver, etc aren't where they expected to be either. Gen Z, however, was born in this shit storm, so I see them as the realist generation. They look at how things are and know if they don't do anything, the shit storm is only going to get worse. They're more tolerant of what makes everyone different, supportive of new ideas no mater where they come from, and give a big "fuck you" to anyone that tells them they're too young to do/know anything about the real world. They look at the raging debt millennials run around with, see how well the "normal" route worked for us, so look at a new path for solutions. They're accused of the instant gratification generation, but really, they're the "why wait?" generation. If you have a good idea, an amazing opportunity, a chance to make change, then do it! Whereas millenials see failure as affirmation that everything is horrible and nothing will ever change, I see Gen Z pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and go, "Well, that didn't work. Let's try something else." What this video described as impatience among the Gen Z when something doesn't work, I see as a generation that doesn't accept that it's just the way things are. If it's broken, then fucking fix it! Bottom line, both our generations get shit on and told we're the problem. That we're entitled and selfish, but we're neither. We're just a bunch of people trying to figure out how to survive in this world that was created for us.
It is easy to be optimistic in a bad environment when you're still a child or very young adult. Life is ahead you. You have plenty of time to screw up, start back over and figure things out until you get it right. There is no time constraint and eventually things get better. When you're older, you don't have these privileges and tend to get caught up in the present.
heather wills amen! Its like millenials are the bridge between a world baby boomers knew and the future that gen z accurately sees. We were literally raised with expired principles for success yet curiously perceived as failures meanwhile gen z is looking at our struggles and going 'fuck that dated advice, im going with what works'
YESSSSSSSSSSSS Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know much about Gen Z, but the millenial part at least is soooooooooo true. And I hope you're right about Gen Z. We need someone to actually get shit done, and stop listening to the advice to wait and do as you're told. We were way too trusting and obedient, and we got screwed big time. I want to see a generation of rebels who can tell when someone's trying to defraud them and won't stand for it. We're in a shoddy position to make change; struggling under our debts to get by. I hope Gen Z can do better, for everyone's benefit, because they still have the time and resources to try to! I just hope they don't end up being rude to us like all the other generations if they do find success. It sucks being told you're the problem and you're entitled when all you want to do is be able to pay your rent and eat without going further into debt. I'd... also like a house and comfortable middle class, debt-free life someday soon, but I suppose that would make me selfish. But really, what are those other generations mad at us for? For being poor right now? Or for daring to still have hope for our lives despite our terrible start? I'm not sure how we can survive without the idea that we might really get what we were promised some day. I think all any of us want is to lie down one day in a comfortable home, calm in the knowledge that we will be able to pay all our bills and no longer have debts looming over our heads.
One thing to keep in mind when comparing generations is that you have to compare them at the same ages, otherwise it's kind of an apples to oranges thing.
Attention span? Dude I got the attention span of a McChicken. And “multi tasking” is just me forgetting what I was doing and moving on to the next thing.

Millennials, like all other generations, are not scientific/historical categories. Just popularized buzz words. This video is completely based on subjectivity.
Yes but those terms exist because we wanted some way to discuss the way different age groups in a society grow up in different environments and as a result have certain attitudes or lifestyles that set them apart from the other age groups. Just because they can't be nailed down scientifically doesn't mean they aren't real or don't have meaning. "All words are made up" -- Pirate Angel
Yeah I agree, they are comparing people that are in different age groups like they are "equals" in terms of that they both have had enough time out in the world.
A. G. True. Also, us as people, we make these “stereotypes” true, when we ACTUALLY do what older folks say, “these kids...” or, “these hot-tailed girls these days...” etc. sorry if that didn’t make sense. I addressed it the best I could.

I just saw this in my Recommendations. All it took for me was the thumbnail. How are they going to define a generation by 14 years for one and 10 for the other? 🤦 Idk what "facts" this person thinks they have, but they might've wanted to start with establishing a coherent timeline. I'm boggled by the number of likes.. People say they want facts, but most just want to agree with what feels good. I'll grant that a generation should not span 20 years, and that 35yo millennials should not be lumped in with 18yos, but let's have some consistency.
I was born in 1990. Growing up, most of the people I spent time with were from the Silent Generation and those of the Greatest Generation. As a result, I often relate to people much older than myself.

hey, an unpopular idea: perhaps ee shouldn't judge an entire generation of people before they, yknow, GROW UP? most of gen Z are teens still, of course they don't have the same experience and mindset as other people
mimimomomama mi nah bro not true I’m gen Z currently 19 yo and in 2012 I was 12/13 lol people that age definitely did not impose those stupid safe space PC ideologies. And before you say it yes I do understand that gen z starts at about 1995 and people born in that year during 2012 were 19 but I disregard them as many of their peers and fellow college goers that were older were millennials with those ideas in which part indoctrinated the gen z coming up in those universities and tumblr pages. Somewhere along the way the younger side of the gen z age groups have seen the outcome of this and realized (for the most part as there are always outliers) how ridiculous and damaging to society that way of thinking/living is. The majority of people I grew up with and the ages younger than me seem to be on the same page when it comes to ridiculing those retarded ideologies. So yes gen z technically was a part of the beginning of the safe space culture to an extent but the millennials were the true orchestraters so in my opinion those gen z PC followers are lumped in with the millennials when it comes to ideology. I am hopeful for the future as a lot of people my age and younger that I know and observe online are nowhere near as sensitive as the group previously stated and yes I realize that is anecdotal but it’s the only information I have without actually surveying the populous lol
Never knew that I multitasked in class when I simultaniously had to listen to the teacher, my classmate and look at the board..... all while taking notes! That's not multi tasking it all feeds into the same task.
Mechanical Ninjineer I kinda see why. Generation alpha will be the most technologically advanced they will grow up with robots and probably be fluent in writing code. More schools are replacing books with tablets and making everything more technology based.
Barry Allen That's bullshit. People have been saying that every generation since humans have been writing, but by pretty much every metric, we have ALWAYS improved upon our parent generation. Millennials are still young, but tend to be more morally concious than Generation X. Generation Z are more efficient workers than Millennials. Generation X are less spoiled than Baby Boomers. Baby Boomers were more intelligent than the Silent Generation. Etc... Etc...
I think we should stop arguing with each other and accept each other differences, I am Gen Y born 92 and together as a generation we can be the first to cope and learn from one another instead of saying ''haha old man''. :) we are the generation that will change the world! we can do this together!
I hate adults who say the internet is bad. They do realize like 30% of what we learn or even more is all because of the internet. I learn all about diseases, history, and world problems on the internet in 30 minutes verses 8 hours at school. Im an above average person when it comes to school and I thank it all to the internet. It's how I learn and have fun at the same time.
Books were bad, radio was bad, tv was bad, now the internet is bad everytime something new shows up and its misunderstood its bad. All of these things are neutral it is all up to the individual to know what to do with them.
My younger sister is GenZ... and I've seen her friends and they're capable of multi-tasking like crazy, but they get little to nothing done. If it is done, it's usually done very poorly. The human brain isn't really primed for "true multitasking" IE "parallel tasks", it's just alternating. Course, this isn't true for every GenZ as they could be raised more in the style of a different generation. All depends on the parents lol
Mechanical Ninjineer me too pretty much we grew up right in the transition of all the newer technology and media. I still remember aol, MySpace, floppy disks, mp3 players, CD players and all other types off stuff.(also I grew up poor)
Weird thing is, people born around 2000-2003 are their own breed. Young around the time when tech wasn’t as good but growing up whilst tech is good so we still had a similar childhood to millennials but not weird enough to be identified with Jake Paul and that kind of human cancer cell
Slav3_Edge all jake paul gans seem to be people wgo are likr 13-16 so pretty close to being born around 2000-2003. At the end of the day you can fit into a group but it's just that, a group. Everyone is a little different and this is just the average of each generation being represented.
Kennedy Blaq right seemed like Gen Z has just graduated high school/college and just hasn’t realized the world isn’t sunshine and rainbows either. It appears as if we aren’t really pessimistic or optimistic but kinda in the middle right where reality is.
John Short I actually think it's the opposite. Generation Z is more pessimistic than the previous generation since they don't remember a time before 911
Alba Lopez I think we're more optimistic because we were more desensitized at a younger age and are aware of how bad shit can be. Due to that we have an appreciation for how good we've got it, relatively speaking.
There are so many different sources about which years are Gen Y and which are Gen Z. Don't focus on particular years too much.

The biggest difference between millennials and gen z is that gen z grew up around technology and social media a heck of a lot more than millennials.
We're just a bunch of people trying to figure out how to survive in this world that was created for us.
heather wills H E L L Y E A H
It is easy to be optimistic in a bad environment when you're still a child or very young adult. Life is ahead you. You have plenty of time to screw up, start back over and figure things out until you get it right. There is no time constraint and eventually things get better. When you're older, you don't have these privileges and tend to get caught up in the present.
You put too much faith in Gen Z, they are the next boomers, entitled and demanding. Live off others' achievements.
heather wills amen!

Dalton MASTER yeah but I’m about as old as a Gen Z person gets and I was 5 when the iPhone came out so I don’t think that effects us very much
Gen z's teenage life was filled with smartphones and internet,
@@-star_27-20 I was 8
Born in 2003 here. I remember flip phones and blackberries. My mom had a flip-phone when I was younger ( iPhones we're out at the time tho), but now has a more up-to-date phone since she can drive now and has more uses for it. And I remember my dad had a blackberry phone when I was around 8/9.
Dalton MASTER Nokia was bae
we live in a generation where 9 year olds flex on people

Is this an indirect about Lil Tay? I think it is.

"Gen Z is more optimistic about future than millenials."
Yeah, because they are younger. Duh.
Tengericsillag that one surprised me. I understand being optimistic about their own futures because of financial planning and whatnot, but general optimism about the state of the US and the world? That just seems incorrect.
Kinography 1994 literally nobody I know is optimistic about the future of anywhere in the world at all so you're right, incorrect
and were all depressed but act opstimistic
I was and still am shitting myself about the future.
-Millenial
Cactiyote I'm mean, I'm a Gen Z and I'm (and many I know are) pretty optimistic about our future and the state the world's going to - even if it doesn't seem like it lol
I never really understood people who hate other people just because they were born on a different year as them. Regardless of your current age, please grow up.
Generation Z to Millennials : ''You merely adopted technology, I was born in it, molded by it.''
We adopted and transformed it.
Hahaha
If Gen Z does choose to adopt more face to face communication habits, they will succeed

This video is pretty much adults vs teens. Not comparing generations accurately
Acquerio O Teens = optimistic little shits. Adults = pessimistic boring old farts. Missed anything?
Gen z isn't optimistic at all though. They're also more right wing than the millenials too...
Chaotic Neutral oh no, the stereotypes strike again. Whatever can we do?

Also born 2000, England here. Don't need to talked down to by someone of the same age. I do have some basic understanding of what goes on and stuff.
I was just being sarcastic.
Honestly as a Gen Z I find that other Gen Z’s are a lot more optimistic about things. Really the generation/s before Millennials f*cked the world up, and it’s our job to fix is. That’s what my other Gen Z mates believe at least.
shout out to everyone from the late 90s - early 00s that are in the weird in between stage. can't fully relate to the millennials and really can't relate to gen z
lauryn r If you were born in the late 90s you are Millennial. You don't relate to GenX or GenZ because you are GenY.

I was born in 1999. But I was raised as a Millennial. We didn't have internet or cellphones, and still had a fat tv until 2015. My school I went to was all pencils and paper. Didn't even get a cellphone until I was 18.
Wow really you had an old TV that long? Interesting. I finally had a modern flat screen TV in 2010 and I thought that was late!
well you are probably the only one in your gen.. no internet until 2015? ya ok im sure
Is gen Z really defined by living exclusively on the new tech? The smart phone was an end of 2000’s thing while Gen Z started a decade or more before
It doesn't matter if you're a millennial or Gen-Z, at least you're not a baby boomer.
and that's too bad.
Try Thinking For a change baby boomers fucked up America pretty bad
This^
The baby boomers had it much easier..............
James Foster what do you mean much easier? They had it much harder, I'm gen z and I think its so easy to live now compared, plus baby boomers where so hard working.
hey, an unpopular idea: perhaps ee shouldn't judge an entire generation of people before they, yknow, GROW UP? most of gen Z are teens still, of course they don't have the same experience and mindset as other people
maria Im a Gen Z and all of the things they mentioned was very right but I’m only 15 YEARS OLD
The oldest Gen z folks are 22. 4 years' worth of Gen z people are now adults. I'm sure that's quite a fair number of adults in the US.
SwordSagas lol you really count an 18 year old as an adult? My parents told me 24 was when they considered people to be a real adult.
MmoviesE well that's your parents. People usually consider 18 year-olds adults.
maria All GenZ are 18 or under.
lmao Gen Z lives on memes that's why they're awesome
And dont forget your "safe spaces" gen z are always melting in those "safe spaces"
*_L e m o n_*
James Whitman nah that’s the millennials thing 😂😂
Kayjaysdns nah, the whole 2012 tumblr safespace uwu thing was a toxic mixture of the worst people from both gen x and z
mimimomomama mi nah bro not true I’m gen Z currently 19 yo and in 2012 I was 12/13 lol people that age definitely did not impose those stupid safe space PC ideologies.
It’s too soon to compare the generations when Gen Z hasn’t even grown up yet
Wish I Had A Clever Name the ones born in the 90s are
Wish I Had A Clever Name if you were born from 1995-2000 you are very comparable being an adult

Thank you!!
Wish I Had A Clever Name born in 99. 20 years old is coming quick pretty sure im grown
I just found out the generation after z is called "alpha"... everybody brace yourself for THAT one...
Mechanical Ninjineer I kinda see why. Generation alpha will be the most technologically advanced they will grow up with robots and probably be fluent in writing code. More schools are replacing books with tablets and making everything more technology based.
i feel bad for the next generation... i don't want my son be a beta
I'll go ahead and rename gen alpha to gen Omega. The last gen.
Y, Z, and beyond are going to crash the whole ship.
Why Alpha? If anything they're beta
Etc... Etc...
"Gen Z is more optimistic!"
*doomers enter the chat*
True ;(
@ivan peixoto Doomer isn't a generation it's a nihilistic way of thinking, a philosophy.
@@hakimdiwan5101 no a doomer is a person who plays doom. its literally nothing more then that.

@@sugarrollz3524 thats not old. you are literally too young to be on youtube lol
Elleon DeMuskeres back then when the church controlled almost anything that wasn’t the bible could’ve/would’ve been considered “bad”
Elleon DeMuskeres oops 😬 should’ve been a bit more specific but okay 👍
I always find I get more knowledge from books but they're harder to find.I'm only 16 so maybe before the internet there were more libraries.
Thts what exactly your future kids would say to you
I get why they say Gen Z are optimistic cuz we r literally like “ I wanna die” but also “I wanna start my own company” 😂🤷🏻♀️
I wanna die but i wanna stay alive
Large facts over here, folks!
This is some facts right here
Im 12
Im old
My younger sister is GenZ... and I've seen her friends and they're capable of multi-tasking like crazy, but they get little to nothing done. If it is done, it's usually done very poorly. The human brain isn't really primed for "true multitasking" IE "parallel tasks", it's just alternating.
Course, this isn't true for every GenZ as they could be raised more in the style of a different generation. All depends on the parents lol
Yeah it depends on the parents
true lol, im gen z and i cant multitask, i prefer to finish one task first before moving on to another, and i make sure i get it done properly

Mechanical Ninjineer me too pretty much we grew up right in the transition of all the newer technology and media. I still remember aol, MySpace, floppy disks, mp3 players, CD players and all other types off stuff.(also I grew up poor)
Same here, I believe that money makes a huge difference when it comes to which "generation" you realate to the most.
Of course there are exceptions to the generalized characteristics. ^^;
SSMitchell some sources cited 99 as the cutoff
ThereWillBeFrost Very true, back in gr.12 my teacher labeled us as the last millennials when were doing our final assignment
Weird thing is, people born around 2000-2003 are their own breed. Young around the time when tech wasn’t as good but growing up whilst tech is good so we still had a similar childhood to millennials but not weird enough to be identified with Jake Paul and that kind of human cancer cell
There is no finite definition. Theres an around 8-10 year time span thats a grey area around 1995-2004 where neither really counts.
So true. I'd say people born in the late 90s/early 2000s are somewhat in between millennials/gen Z. The best of both worlds you know what I mean.
And 1999 as well
Slav3_Edge all jake paul gans seem to be people wgo are likr 13-16 so pretty close to being born around 2000-2003. At the end of the day you can fit into a group but it's just that, a group. Everyone is a little different and this is just the average of each generation being represented.
Omg so accurate
"genzs can multitask"
ADHD: oh no i don't think you will
That’s the whole reason I can multitask it’s a blessing and a curse most of the time it’s a curse though
(similar disorder) I act like I can multitask but I just forgot was I was doing .00001 seconds ago and just start something else

my thoughts totally!
It doesn't affect any generation. We just speak about it openly
Imagine the next to next generation saying to our kids- 'Ok Woomer'
Gen z= stressed, depressed, lonely, awkward, competitive, eager

I thought so too
Kennedy Blaq right seemed like Gen Z has just graduated high school/college and just hasn’t realized the world isn’t sunshine and rainbows either.
