A few abbesses headed double monasteries including both women and men...In medieval times, an Abbess could exercise considerable power, especially if she was also of noble or royal birth. Few women could rise to such power in any other way by their own achievements...There were limits on the power of an abbess because of their sex. Because an abbess, unlike an Abbott, could not be a priest, she could not exercise spiritual authority over the nuns (and sometimes monks) under her general authority...There are many references in historical documents of violations of these boundaries by abbesses, so we know that some abbesses did wield more power than they were technically entitled to wield." based on this information, it is clear that magdalena fought tooth and nail to be where she is now. as a woman in a male dominated world, she has learned that perfection is required if she wishes to be respected or taken seriously at all. she cannot afford to take any risks. one single misstep and her entire life could fall apart. judith is a demon from a class of demons known as succubi. though technically thousands of years old, she presents as 29-30. *according to wikipedia, "A succubus is a demon or supernatural entity in folklore, in female form, that appears in dreams to seduce men, usually through sexual activity...A succubus may take a form of a beautiful young girl, but closer inspection may reveal deformities of her body, such as bird-like claws or serpentine tails." in this story’s canon, the role of a succubus is to procreate with men in order to conceive a demonic child whom will later serve the devil’s will. needless to say, after a couple thousand years judith has grown rather tired of how much her position limits her freedom. magdalena meets judith at a point in her life when much of her past begins to catch up to her. you see, magdalena has always been aware of the way other women make her feel. however, she refuses to accept it, let alone acknowledge it. for she knows that if word got out about her intimate feelings towards women, she’d soon find herself dismissed from the convent and virtually blacklisted from the church. or worse-she could find herself institutionalized. one night, magdalena has a dream where she meets a young woman with jet-black hair and lilac eyes. in spite of her best efforts, magdalena could not ignore the allure of the woman’s voice, the mystique of her beauty, the way the red dress hugged her figure. it was not long before magdalena found herself unable to ignore the woman’s gentle touch, the softness of her skin, the feel of her lips against her own- magdalena thinks nothing of the dream when she wakes up the next morning. that is, until she spots a suspicious bruise on the side of her neck. this is quickly followed by finding her bible spontaneously opened to the page that displays, **“the book of judith,” and the story of judith and holofernes. later that night, magdalena dreams of the mysterious woman again. these dreams become more frequent, and though they seemed mostly harmless at first, magdalena quickly suspects there may be more malevolent, supernatural forces behind her amorous visions. little by little, judith makes her presence even more known to magdalena in the waking world. *these article excerpts are included as understanding these specific details about the characters and their roles is important for understanding their background and motivations. **”the book of judith” was removed in later versions of the bible, however it should probably still be present during the time period of this story.
Always exciting to see these two, I especially like how there is always little details to show how mutual the feelings are. Typically you'd expect a relationship like that to have a severe power imbalance in Judith's favor. But every time they show up you can see that she is just as enthralled with Magdalena as she is with her. The interlaced fingers are so intimate and sweet in an otherwise 'scandalous' scene.
everytime i get a comment like this about my OCs i’m just so ecstatic. 🥹💗 because this is a detail i always give extra attention to. it is important to me that my OCs are portrayed as mutually invested in one another, and it makes me so happy that they continue to be perceived that way. at times there may be an artificial “power imbalance” between the two, but it is always an intentional choice made by both magdalena and judith together, and it is mainly done as a way for them to build intimacy.
Their posing is so suggestive, but the hand-holding is so sweet; it suggests more than lust between them, and I love that. Also the cover, love the cover, your voice is superb!
I'm obsessed with this. There's a tenderness here that I feel is absent in the original. I can't quite place it, it's subtle but it's there. Love this sm.

I know not if it is simply a quirk of her nature or if my body betrays me again, leaving me longing for her touch like I would long for a fire on a cold night. When her fingers interlock with mine I feel the security that the Lord has forsaken me. I hope I do the same for her. She is more than just a place of scandalous comfort, she is someone that accepts me for who I am, even if I cannot. Apologies if this doesn't line up with what you envisioned for Magedalena, but I couldn't help myself. The artwork is really captivating. It's like another of the convent walked in on their moment yet they don't seem to care anymore.
