I just restarted playing this last week!! I started with Arrows, switched to Stewart mid season and won 2 races in 1999. Driving with Jaguar in 2000 just now, trying to bring them up the field. Still my favourite F1 game.
For me this is my favourite F1 game from the PS2 era.. Also the last before I started playing F1 2010 on 360... Fond memories and I still play F1 Career Challenge to this day and my love for F1 since then hasn't gone away, granted I don't play or follow modern F1 games as it just doesn't have that magic that the classics do. That's just my opinion but it's wonderful seeing long term F1 fan channel users play these legends!
I have F1 Challenge 99-02 on my PC. And I have another version of the game with the 2007 mod. Absolutely fantastic game, one of my favourite games ever.
I played this game a lot back in the day, and it was a lot of fun. Still have it to this day. I first got in F1 with F1 World Grand Prix for the Nintendo 64. That's also a classic game.
This F1 game for me was one of the best I'd played for years. I've just gotten back into it and it's aged quite well considering it's 18 years old! It is fun and it does feel more of a challenge compared to the modern F1 games today.

Loved this game! 1999 was the first year I really tried to watch all the races and this is the best game to play that season's drivers and tracks

Hi thanks for this video, I missed seeing your gaming videos but appreciate the channel has moved on, but would like to see your reviews etc of the most recent F1 games.
I really want to love this game on PS2. I even retried it this morning, again, before coming here. This game has the best idea but worst execution. The handling on a controller is basically impossible. The inputs are like 300% downforce twitchy, the slightest input sends the car at a 90° angle into the wall. Even on Easy the game is just a mess - all because of the handling. I don't own a PC, i have the PS2 & backwards compatible PS3, so i don't use a wheel - i imagine with a wheel the game plays how it deserves, but on a controller, i would play any other F1 game. F1 2001 would be the way to go for this era, even 2002 or Grand Prix Challenge. Amazing how "F1" released in 1996 by Psygnosis has superior handling to most of the PS2 games but this game wants to be the best but whoever designed the handling just had no idea what they were doing.

Bought it a year ago, too bad the physics were terrible, undriveable. D pad response was like an on and off switch, just hard steering or no steering, would've like to see some "feather" in the steering. Basically every F1 game after Championship Edition. CE was freaking perfect, fast, challenging, exciting, and DRIVABLE.
I agree, this game had so much potential but the handling input is just 45° jerks and is truly impossible. Even the 989 Formula One games have better handling and they are horrible compared to the EA games of the time. They botched it.
Hope you bringing back career mode you didn't since 7 years.

Shocking handling. Even worse than Season 2000 & 2001. EA Sports never got it together on handling, and yet their very first F1 game on the PS1 had brilliant physics.
