Salute to Aman and the rest of driving instructors for their endless patience and understanding. Learners never give up and keep on persevering as driving is a great and essential life skill
Roundabouts are a lesson in filtering out noise. There is often lots going on, but you only have to worry about your path and whether anything is going to intersect it.
there's a way to deliver a message and you do it great, many instructors would have killed her confidence on the roundabout issues, but you explained it in a clear way with a nice tone rather than destructive and she ended up laughing and smiling in the end, eager to go and learn I bet.
It’s very brave to be a new driver and allow your mistakes and learning progress to be shown to the world. It’s all learning everyday even after passing your test. I’m sure you will be successful. Keep going
It’s a shame though because all this pressure and no driver does these things. Driving in a test so different to reality. Such a lot of pressure these Days. Great instruction a lot of patience and kindness
I love how patient you are, my instructor was great for the teaching part however once she had taught me she became very intense and would constantly critical without taking a back seat ever and made me doubt myself, the morning of was the worse lesson of my life and I was really considering not even going 😂 thankfully I went and as soon as I left my instructor I felt so at ease with the examiner and past first time 🎉
Doesn't the fact that u passed 1st time tell u that just maybe your instructor knew what she was doing from the beginning to the end - that she knew how to get the best test drive from u all along . Well done and stay safe 👍
i’ve just done my second hour of driving lessons, watching your videos everyday after work has helped me a lot. my instructor has praised me not expecting me to do so well with just 2 hours of actual driving so thank you!
I learn so much from your videos, thanks for the all effort you put in. The bit at 11:50 where you explain how bringing the clutch up quick in first while moving at speed causing engine braking could be a serious fault because the car is slowing down with no brake light makes so much sense but I can guarantee if I did it in a lesson and my instructor brought it up I'd just be like "haha yeah dude totally" with no clue what was said. Being able to go over these things in a video makes them so much easier to take in.
Found out about this channel few days before taking and passing my second attempt at the practical. The mock test videos are unbelievably helpful, thank you so much for sharing this. It is an amazing educational tool.
So glad I found your channel just a few days ago! Passed my test this morning 1st time with only 4 minors😃 thank you for these videos, they are soooo helpful!🙌🏾 GOOD LUCK to anyone waiting their test🤗
I'm glad automatic cars have always been common here. I remember when I was learning to drive, roundabouts are scary because it's the first time you have to deal with multi lanes and multiple exits to be aware of.
I (Dutch) will rent one after a few weeks, when I arrive in London. I have a driver's license and I am very experienced with driving in capital and other big cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Berlin, Paris and Brussels). But that is in Western Europe with traffic at the right (I have a car with manual gear). The next challenge will be a car trip through London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh. But between Liverpool and Edinburgh is 226 miles and I haven't decided yet where I will have a break. Between London and Liverpool, I will have a break at Birmingham. But I will have a driving lessons of 2 hours on the 28th of December, to get used to left traffic, automatic gear and traffic situations as far as they are different from European mainland.
Very valuable lesson from for Marwael. Aman your truly exceptional! Marwael seems a sweet soul and such a good example of a young lady. She’s really good behind the wheel for a learner and I’m sure she’ll pass her test in due course. Best wishes Marwael.
I love this channel so much! I passed on 16th of September and I’m still addicted to watching this channel. I wished i also had an instructor like Aman! Mine was getting annoyed on every single simple mistake someone made but I’m glad I’m done with him.
I used to struggle with roundabouts a bit, so what my mum did (she was my instructor) is got me driving around doing roundabouts for like 2 hours, starting from the very basics and guiding me through it each time and gradually letting me do it on my own until I actually could do it. It really helped and I've never had a problem with roundabouts since!
yeah, I've passed 6 years ago but not done loads of roundabouts since passing and haven't driven for 3 years so will be having a refresher lesson just focused on roundabouts and maybe also slip roads onto faster moving roads, just to make sure everything is good. I have watched quite a few hours of these videos though in the last week or two
Hi Aman , a great video once again and hat’s off to your pupil who made a fantastic effort, I will confess major roundabouts have never been a strong point when I was learning to drive where there are 3 or 4 lanes with traffic lights. It cannot be easy being a driving instructor as I know you have to look streets ahead when driving off with any new pupil and a ton of pressure from videoing and making sure everything is in order. Well done Aman for giving the opportunity to watch these fantastic videos. Kindest regards paul
I'm learning to drive after 15 years when I first had lessons. I'm almost 39 years old and at about 35 hours in now and as I live in the UK I'm driving a manual transmission. I've had three different instructors (had bad experiences with two) until finally settling with one I'm comfortable with. He's the world driving guy (RUclips) who is very good, encouraging and patient. My first instructor talked way too much and didn't let me drive enough. The second guy let me drive for the entire time but instruction was poor, too laid back and half the time he was texting on his phone (which I hear is illegal!). Anyway, even so I feel I'm still not at the level I should be at this point and I can't help but feel embarrassed about it. Passed my theory at least but still making too many serious mistakes out on the road with my instructor having to intervene still. Perhaps it's because I've had to go through these three different instructors. I tend to get annoyed if I make a mistake or two and then it snowballs into a multitude of errors, some serious. I'm not sure I could even do a mock test as there'll be too many faults. It is frustrating as I do look forward to each lesson and I do like driving which is why I think I'm upset I'm not doing better.
Don't make it something it isn't. Human error is inevitable, don't let one mistake dictate your mindset. Learn breathing techniques to provide you clarity, it will allow you to shift your attention from the error and enable you to calmly focus on the task at hand. Try it in other everyday situations, and see the benefits. Condition your mind so that concentrating on your breathing distracts you from the state of anxiety/rage/fear.
If you do a mock test you will first get to experience the stress of an actual exam (which I believe is good if you are anxious - train the nervousness away). It will also let you know what you need to focus and work on. Don't be too hard on yourself, a lot comes down to the instructors you've had, you know more than you think just have some confidence.
7:00 Flashing lights to let someone go is a pet hate of mine, it can lead to so much danger and I don't think people realise how much danger it can cause. Use speed & space and this makes it more obvious than it is safe to go esc
I'm the opposite. I hate traffic sailing past and leaving you sitting there when theres no need and all they're going to do is stop at the lights just past you. It's also a nuisance because traffic is backed up on one side because someone needs to turn and the other side won't let them across. In a tourist zone like where I am, all the roads would be bunged solid if no-one let anyone go. Flashing/allowing someone to go is fine, but it's still up to the person to check it's safe before proceeding, ie look for yourself before accepting it/going.
Whilst it is a good idea not to flash your lights at others. You have no control on whether others flash their headlights at you. Generally, they are giving way to you. They are not saying everyone is giving way to you also and they will not have not checked that it is safe for you to go in respect of other road users or hazards. You must determine that for yourself by observation.
I was really surprised when Marwael said she hadn't done much practice on roundabouts - like you said, her general driving must be really strong in order to cope that well on them! I was doing all sorts like driving into the roundabout when I was starting out... you'll pass in no time
I believe that she hadn't done much practice on roundabouts because this is what happened to me.I had more than 30 hours of lessons but i was not taught properly about roundabouts and also not much practice on roundabouts. I felt incompetent.I realised something was not right, so i changed my instructor to a fully qualified one who is alot better in understanding and teaching learners.Having a good instructor is very important, i can tell you that.
Even in 2024, I had to be repeatedly asking my instructor to do more roundabouts...it's a thing with some instructors. Also my instructor didn't gjve me the confidence to handle them on my own as he kept telling me different things..luckily I got to practice privately and gained more confidence and handle them really well since I passed my test. But still.like looking at these videos to improve my skills
Marwael, smoothed driving, she 's cool calm and layback, she has got, a lovely smile about her. Be proactive on the roundabout, awareness and her surrounding area. She would be okay, and wish her do well.🌺
Great video Amman, Clearly she needs more roundabout practice, but often it's a judgement not observational fault. I will add though that, (irrespective of idealists or dvsa statements) the difficulty of taking a test in an area you don't know, shouldn't be underestimated.
Hats to your patience when you coach/ mentor beginners. A mechanic told me this, not to change gears or press clutch on a speed breaker. It messes up the longevity of clutch plates. Either change gear before or after speed breaker for a smooth ride.
This helped me, because I do EXACTLY the same things. I hesitate (don't pay attention to the indicators of the cars coming from the right), or I go without looking properly 😖, just counting on my peripheral vision. And I also leave the far right side of the roundabout at the last moment to the left. 😕
guessing you're talking about 10:30, not 11:20. I will press like on your comment so you get a notification. it's a mini roundabout so signal to leave isn't as necessary it seems and is clear from your position that you are not going back around the roundabout, so don't need a left signal leaving here, but if you wanted to then do it as you're blocking the part where traffic from 1st exit enters roundabout / basically when you have passed the first exit so it is clear you are not going there but the following one
I’m so glad that the driving instructors are a lot more kind than the first person I had, he would constantly tell me I wasn’t ready for driving and that I was too immature to drive so he said he was retiring to make me change instructor but then I saw him months later teaching other people… I am glad this stuff happened as it motivated me to carry on instead of quitting like he said I should and the driving instructor I got after the first one was one of the most kind, caring people I’ve ever met and I passed my test first time with 7 minors. Thank you for being so kind to learners it really goes a long way for their mental health and self confidence.
Probably your first instructor was telling himself as he sounded like not confident enough to teach inexperienced learners. Experienced learners are alot easier to teach as they already got over difficulties. How i know? My first instructor had similar attitudes like yours.. i could feel that he was not that confident due to insufficient teaching experiences. Teaching is a skill like driving as it wouldn't come fast...needs sufficinet practices and experiences...
19:28 I never seen these kind of traffic lights before. I'm guessing it is for the cars turning right? If it turns red will there also be a red arrow pointing right as well?
The green arrow will show allowing you to turn left or right only and then the rest of the traffic will have a red light showing. When it's their time to go it will show green and the green arrow will not show, only a red light. So you'll know not to go. There's no red arrow.
It's just a repeater traffic light for the set of lights just before it. If you accidentally stop too far forward of the initial set and can't see the lights, that repeater light is there so you can still see when to go/stop.
I appreciate learning from you that we can move slowly whilst turning the wheel as some instructors including my own (one of four🙃 long story😂) taught me to do the easy,, turn the wheel while stationary and go straight in,, I can't wait to practice moving slowly while doing so but it'll be when I finally pass my test I practice this if you can understand 😂 lol🎀
Why didn’t you correct her or make her lose points for turning too wide (going into the middle lane instead of staying in her left lane) at the roundabout @7:20
13:37 that is one fucked up intersection. If you've never driven there before you'll never know that there's 2 roads going straight where one actually goes left😵
help me understand please, i just failed my test for going the wrong way, as traffic was preventing me changing lanes, do i stop and force my way in ? how do you fail for going the wrong way
As a new Canadian driver, I don't think I'd be able to handle UK roads like this, roundabouts, the weird signals, driving on the left. I can barely drive here lol
Hello Aman ...you said something about repeat traffic lights....and your student wouldn't have stopped even stooped for the pedestrian even if it was red ???? Please I didn't quite catch that...could you explain that in another way.
You would never stop for red light that doesn’t have a solid line with it as that traffic light doesn’t apply to you at that time The stop line was much further back The only exception to this is temporary traffic lights
What?! “Dry steering turning the wheel while stationary” is wrong? My instructor taught me to do so before my parking manoeuvers 😭 and my test is next thursady! Wtf 😭
I'm a little confused, coasting is dangerous and you refrain from marking it down as a minor? The wheels aren't engaged with the gearbox when the clutch pedal is down, this is borderline a serious fault when turning and can easily cause a crash. Let the engine do the breaking.
Absolute beginner here and third lesson in, and my driving instructor keeps raising his voice at me. During my first lesson, his tone of voice was friendly but he would ask me really personal questions such as “Where are you from? Are you a Christian? Do you drink?” These questions made me feel uncomfortable. I decided against indulging him any further and so when he asked whether I can cook on my second lesson, I questioned why he was asking. I don’t think he was expecting a pushback and he tried to be smart by coming up a senseless analogy using an egg in a pan of water to describe turning/positioning the car; it didn’t add up at all! At some point, I must have mentioned why I never felt the need to learn to drive in London when I was younger and even now my partner drives me everywhere. This man changed right after I said that. You could see his countenance change and there was this brief moment of silence like he was processing what I’d just said. After the lesson while we were discussing key-points to improve on etc, he made a reference to what I said earlier regarding my partner driving me everywhere and I declined to comment on it. Then come the third lesson, while preparing to move off, my left leg began to jitter (I do get some jitters on my left leg while engaging the clutch usually at the start of my lesson. I think it's partly due to nerves and the fact that my left side has always been my weak side). I kept asking myself why my left leg keeps shaking even though I wasn't feeling very nervous. He then made a comment along the lines of "Does your partner not massage your leg?" I didn't comment on it and then a moment after he asked again "Your partner, does he not massage your leg?" I looked at him while he was asking so that he realises that I hear what he's saying but I just refuse to comment on it. At this point, I was still asking myself why my leg keeps jittering and I said it's not so much because I am nervous but because my left leg is just weak and I need to go back to the gym. All through the lesson he would raise his voice at me for every mistake I make, constantly saying I apply too much force on the gear but when I apply little force and I can't get into the correct gear as a result he would criticise that. I've told him that I (personally) apply just enough force that I need to get into the correct gear and if he thinks that's too much then there's nothing I can do about it - he's constantly watching that gear stick. He would even criticise me for doings things which I didn't do like when he said to turn the engine off after my last lesson, I was just holding onto the keys when he immediately said I was doing it the wrong way. I was so confused at this point because in my head I'm thinking.."I haven't even turned the keys yet". I told him that I wasn't turning the keys but he said that I was going to. In response to him I said, I was going to turn the keys anti-clockwise but I wasn't even turning them yet. He wouldn't even let me finish and proceeded to talk over me and brushed it off. He also said that I can't and shouldn't make mistakes, like I'm not allowed to make mistakes. I've only had 6 hours of driving lessons and I'd never driven prior to this. Everyone learns differently and we won't all pick up on things at the same pace or in the same way. I feel rushed and would like to just focus on my pace until I've completely grasped the basics and I'm confident moving onto the main road/motorway. Driving is all about skills, control, hazard awareness and safety and I'm just not there yet. I've been told that when starting out to learn how to drive, the number of lessons one would need to get to a confidence level (all proportions) isn't fixed. One would need as many lessons as one requires. I would appreciate a professional, cool-headed driving instructor who is knowledgeable, respectful, patient and emotionally mature. I haven't made half of the mistakes on this video but yet Aman remains absolutely professional and respectful, she's also friendly which is a bonus.
Hey this made me really sad, your instructor should behave in a professional manner and they shouldn’t be asking inappropriate questions. After reading your message I would recommend you ask for a refund if you’ve already prepaid, you will be able to get your remaining money back. You need to find yourself a different instructor, be sure to speak to your new instructor and mention your concerns and the areas you need to work on. Call a few independent instructors and get a trial lesson and see how you get on and then go from there. Hope you manage to find a suitable instructor Aman
At the roundabout at around 24mins she was told to take the 3rd exit on the right and she did, but the instructor said it was the wrong exit. Am I missing something?
Girl has really good clutch control. But she needs to get used to return to Neutral before coming to a full stop at traffic light, to reduce stress on left foot.
@@skye-louisescott2754 i have, maybe you should "hun", holding the clutch down too long damages the throw out bearing, wearing it out, which makes it hard to change gears among other things
I'm spanish and I find this very struggling and confusing because we use to drive in the right side of the street and the driver sits in the left side of the car 🤣🤣

Well nice lessons
Like your patient methodology and thorough professionalism
all I know is that my first car will be called aman after you. YOUR VIDEOS ARE A LIFE SAVER!!!
🥹🤣Hahahah thanks for the honour
Glad the videos have been helpful 😊😊
@@ClearviewDriving got my eyes on a lovely vauxhall, deserves to be blessed with a good name 💙😂
I passed my test on Tuesday, first time theory and first time practical with only 2 minors. I was absolutely shitting myself too
19:28 I never seen these kind of traffic lights before.
It's less wearing on the tread when moving vs when stationary as they're rolling rather than being scraped against the tarmac.
Why didn’t you correct her or make her lose points for turning too wide (going into the middle lane instead of staying in her left lane) at the roundabout @7:20
Setting aside the serious faults, she drives well.
agree she is very skilled
I can't tell you what a benefit it was learning to drive in Milton Keynes where roundabouts are unavoidable, they very quickly become second nature.
Oh yes!! That’s a great location to practice roundabouts 😝
0:03-0:04 like how you zoomed your face about the reaction. Classic!
This was helpful, thank you
Im literally in the same position done 2 tests but failed my last one for undue hesitation at roundabouts 😅
Very patient Instructor my god
I would love a video on signalling on roundabouts. My dad and I disagree on the correct approach. 😊
13:37 that is one fucked up intersection. If you've never driven there before you'll never know that there's 2 roads going straight where one actually goes left😵
help me understand please, i just failed my test for going the wrong way, as traffic was preventing me changing lanes, do i stop and force my way in ? how do you fail for going the wrong way
watching from india and seeing this is a therapy for me😊
I really enjoyed watching this episode
Her driving is well
I think, it was very useful for Marwael.
Good video I’m curious what city you guys are in if you don’t mind me asking
It seemed like Marwael didn't check the right blindspot during the Reverse Bay Parking. Wasn't that a fault?
24:03 was your fault The instructor says takes 3rd exit not 4th then says you've entered the wrong exit
😂 There goes me... undue hesitation... roundabouts are my stress points aswell... too much hesitation, too little...
Whereabouts is this? It looks like quite a tricky area to take a test in places.
Aw her drive is very smooth, has she passed yet? Also, I can't believe this was filmed in my neighbourhood hahah
she’s gorgeous mashallah
Finding the gap at 3 lane roundabouts are just hard
She didn’t check her blind spots at 18:00 👀
Yes roundabouts and lane discipline for me too
As a new Canadian driver, I don't think I'd be able to handle UK roads like this, roundabouts, the weird signals, driving on the left. I can barely drive here lol
Hello Aman ...you said something about repeat traffic lights....and your student wouldn't have stopped even stooped for the pedestrian even if it was red ???? Please I didn't quite catch that...could you explain that in another way.
You would never stop for red light that doesn’t have a solid line with it as that traffic light doesn’t apply to you at that time
The stop line was much further back
The only exception to this is temporary traffic lights
What?! “Dry steering turning the wheel while stationary” is wrong? My instructor taught me to do so before my parking manoeuvers 😭 and my test is next thursady! Wtf 😭
It’s a bad habit, but it’s not a fault in terms of a driving test
Hope you manage to find a suitable instructor
Aman
@@ClearviewDriving I’ve sent an inquiry email to Clearview re booking lessons. Waiting to hear back 🙏
Hello, how can I book a mock test with you?
Is using a signal entering the roundabout a UK thing? Where I am we only signal exiting .
Yes you must signal on approach to tell other road users where you intend to go
I’m doing my ADI Part 3 and I’m looking at techniques on how to teach learners.
Great mock test
hi ur videos are amazing. I guess it would be even more if you could add the speed drivers are doing.
She's a very good driver just practice more roundabouts 👌will be perfect
Because you have hydro brakes? Opposed to air which you aslo need to build up pressure....
Aman. What is the meaning of DOUBLE RED LINES?
its the reactions for me lol, watch this even with a driving license lol
At the roundabout at around 24mins she was told to take the 3rd exit on the right and she did, but the instructor said it was the wrong exit. Am I missing something?
She took the 4th exit right
Ah yes I had to rewatch! Thanks for clarifying, these videos are really helpful to me as a learner driver 😊
How can i book lesson with you aman?
Girl has really good clutch control. But she needs to get used to return to Neutral before coming to a full stop at traffic light, to reduce stress on left foot.
You don’t get taught to do that. Stay in first gear so your ready, only really use neutral if it’s going to be a really long wait
@@skye-louisescott2754kills your clutch
@@uzzy_787 no it doesn’t, go learn about cars hun
@@skye-louisescott2754 i have, maybe you should "hun", holding the clutch down too long damages the throw out bearing, wearing it out, which makes it hard to change gears among other things
Just passed mine a couple of hours ago
both so pretty 💜
Hi. Do u cover uxbridge area? How can I contact you.
Hey unfortunately I don’t cover Uxbridge

New subscriber, great video
I always find it interesting what goes on in someones mind when this happens 0:11. Do they not think that they should move over?
Why were they beeping at the beginning?
I'm watching your videos from canada and I don't know why😂
Good point 19:30
Does it cost money to get a test at an earlier date
You can check for earlier dates online yourself for free or pay a booking service to check for cancellations for you and book.
What is the name of the type of jeans the driver is wearing?
Still watching this after I passed 3 years ago 😎😉
What car is this?
I'm spanish and I find this very struggling and confusing because we use to drive in the right side of the street and the driver sits in the left side of the car 🤣🤣
She is so cutee!
Marwael is beautiful..
There should be lines otherwise it’s confusing
