He is around since the beginning of mma fights and I admired him from the first day I saw him in action. He is a very humble nice guy as well I think. You can tell by looking at him.
people who say Brock Lesnar is "underrated" clearly has never heard of Igor "Ice Cold" Vovchanchyn. Igor was really the guy who started "sprawl and brawl". Coming from a kickboxing background, he beat guys like Mark Kerr, a wrestler, and other ground fighters by forcing them to stand up with him. He is one of the BEST HW of all time. Again, people who swear they know Everything, say Lesnar is one of the best of all time..etc. etc. Hell no, Igor is. This man doesn't get the credit he deserves!
@MeissnerFlux: Agree 100%...Igor is a beast and thats coming from a Proud Rampage Fan! I saw how Igor owned Kerr and Goodridge!,,,Igor was Hurt or he would've kept going. Damn I miss PrideFc been watching it since Vitor Belfort went over to Japan to fight a scrappy Saku!
Igor was a very dominant HW for all long time, yet he doesnt really get the same respect or accolades as other fighters from his era, Still fun to watch though.
@sicvic420 Igor could have fought at 170lbs, maybe even 155lbs when you look at Gleison Tibau and Melvin Guillard, its crazy how much of a legend he was at Heavyweight.
@csmithx That's interesting to think he couldve been in the UFC and made a name for himself in the US. Also how they never put Igor vs Fedor is crazy. They are good friends i think is why but imagine that.
@JKItsMeAlGore Which show did you watch ? You were wrong, during this Pride era, Sakuraba was one of the best fighter. He had beat Quinton Jackson before this fight. Other 1st class fighters that Saku beat: Ken Shamrock, Vitor Belfort, Carlos Newton, Royce Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Royler Gracie, Ryan Gracie. After he was beaten by Vanderlei Silva, that's the turning point and he fell like a waterfall after that lost. And later on, he was already pretty old.
It's true, he'd been fighting for a long time. Jackson got lucky fr in this fight. Igor would smash Wanderlei and Wanderlei smashed Jackson . Fun fact is Igor was one of the only fighters not on juice along with Mark hunt and a few others
Vovchanchin would have hurt him bad standing. Funny that in the UFC Rampage was complaining about opponents trying to wrestler him. He was doing the same in Pride. This one, against Chuck Lidell twice...
@sicvic420 It's mostly because he didn't have as much personality as people wanted him to have. and so he was eclipsed by his much more popular student, Fedor Emelianenko.
@sicvic420 Also, his management decided Pride would be a better organisation to head for rather than a smaller organisation at the time that did not have the stardom it does today, the UFC. If he had gone to the UFC he would have got the accolades he deserved such as someone like Tito Ortiz has.
@driftz0r He could of fought at 170lbs or 185lbs easily considering the way guys cut weight. He had a much wider frame because he was 5'8 and 220lbs....Trust me, he was not even close to being a Light Heavyweight.
@SuperStojak This isn't a beauty contest. I don't know where you're coming from with that comment, I don't look at men and decide if he's ugly or whatever. So you're on your own with that one bro.
@PunkRingOfHonorX wouldnt really call them takedowns though he was trying to put Igor through the ring haha all rashad did was constantly go for takedowns not slams and if Rampage didnt do them he wouldnt have been guillotined
Back when Jackson was a freak and looked unstoppable, nothing but respect for the legendary Igor, both champions, ty for posting.
Igor at one time was one of the most dangerous heavyweights in MMA. In early Pride days.
I'm glad Jackson realized the stoppage before the ref did.
An all-time favorite of mine. "The Second to Last Emperor." Love him.
Rampage p4p strength is crazy in this fight. Igor was as compact as they came, and he literally ragdolled him.
Igor is boss, for me he's up there with Fyodor and CroCop
RESPECT
Better than crocop. Fedor and him are equal.... different eras...but both my favorites. Rampage is a beast.... but nothing like the monster Igor is.
He is around since the beginning of mma fights and I admired him from the first day I saw him in action. He is a very humble nice guy as well I think. You can tell by looking at him.

Bad you don't know Russian and hasn't listen to his interview when he talked about his motivation. Gave me goose bumps, that guy is something
I would like to see Igor fight Brock Lesnar.
@@gustavcalder4514 tell us
Your literally posting under a fight where he got destroyed lol
Quinton Jackson's wrestling in MMA disappeared almost overnight in 2007!!
It was his camps in England at Wolfs lair. Brits don’t wrestle. Totally screwed up a well rounded fighter.
@@colesteeleA To his detriment....
@@colesteeleA Yeah it cost him against Forrest Griffon and Rashad Evans.
@@madgavin7568 It hurt him against Forest but he never was going out wrestle Rashad. Rashad has a much better wrestling background.
This win shot Rampage to the moon in Pride. Igor was a top tier striking star until Page.
That second slam is sick!
Вот так надо проводить соперника в партер. Пример нынешним одеяльникам.
Reminds me of the good old days of Matt Hughes and Sean Sherk. They would slam guys all over the place!
For a guy named Rampage, he sure showed lots of class
Before Cro Cop we had Igor Vovchanychin one of the best ones on pride
Igor was a very dominant HW for all long time, yet he doesnt really get the same respect or accolades as other fighters from his era, Still fun to watch though.
Holy shiiiiiiiii had no idea these guys fought each other
@sicvic420 Igor could have fought at 170lbs, maybe even 155lbs when you look at Gleison Tibau and Melvin Guillard, its crazy how much of a legend he was at Heavyweight.
Everybody wanted to hug Igor, nobody wanted to fight him
If I recall correctly the note was from Rampage's mom and said "Please don't hurt my son" lol
Really his mum wrote to him
That second slam is what cracked his rib...that shit was like a car crash
Igor has always been one of my favorites. He hits like a truck
@csmithx That's interesting to think he couldve been in the UFC and made a name for himself in the US. Also how they never put Igor vs Fedor is crazy. They are good friends i think is why but imagine that.
5:17 Nigga dont try that with me cmon now
I think Igor looked a bit ill from the start. Kindof pale and dark around the eyes.
What is the song of Igor entrance? Great video. Thanks Giotarionas!
God damn, that 1st slam as Igor is dumping all his weight.
Rampage so strong
Thanks for the post Giotarionas!
wow first time i've seen Stephen Quatros make a huge mistake saying Igor was the first top ten fighter Rampage faced. He'd already fought Sakuraba.
@JKItsMeAlGore Which show did you watch ? You were wrong, during this Pride era, Sakuraba was one of the best fighter. He had beat Quinton Jackson before this fight. Wow you commented 8 years ago
9 years ago now. Dang and I watched this back when it was uploaded :/
I had no idea this fight took place, this was a grappling fight, Igor would have smashed the loudmouth Rampage in a real stand up fight.
Lol come on
Are you blind, Jackson did nothing but try and tie up his arms, if Igor clips you, you're scrambled.
Rampage Needs To Be Like This Against Bones
@bittyrock hehe wouldn't call Saku scrappy back then. just dominant. great match to start watching Pride from though :)
igors past his prime in this fight
no he wasnt
He sucked get over it

Igor was winning the fight until he went for that guillotine. He injured his shoulder from the slam. Fight would have been much different otherwise.
Vovchanchin would have hurt him bad standing.
Funny that in the UFC Rampage was complaining about opponents trying to wrestler him.
He was doing the same in Pride. This one, against Chuck Lidell twice...
Yes but he wasn’t laying and praying

How does this hw rampage stack against the UFC hw roster today?
@sicvic420
It's mostly because he didn't have as much personality as people wanted him to have. and so he was eclipsed by his much more popular student, Fedor Emelianenko.
As oposed to fedor who has a flashy personality.
Of course
I’m wondering what the note said
was this a Light heavyweight match or heavyweight........
Heavyweight I'm pretty sure.
@boogynights what wasnt a fight this or Rampage vs Rashad?

Was Rampage Jackson on some kind of drugs to achieve that kind of improvement so quickly and attain that level of aggression?

It was probably just his name in English and Japanese. Look like a sign something they put on your room door or table or something.
