Some old songs being sung there. Hark Now Hear originated in 1979 from a game at Hillsborough, Sheffield United were running away with the old third division, Wednesday were lingering just above mid table, United went to Hillsborough on Boxing Day and were thrashed 4-0, so a famous song that has been adopted all around the country was born. United dropped off after that defeat. It was a special season for Wednesday because they went on to secure promotion, behind Blackburn. One of Wednesday's last away games was at Blackburn, Wednesday were in danger of dropping off the pace themselves, and needed to win to stay in touch with the leading teams, I went to this game, it's still my all time favourite away game, it's probably the biggest away following Wednesday have ever taken, there was an estimated 14,000 supporters from Sheffield for a night match, Wednesday won the game 2-1 and went on to secure promotion behind Blackburn. Sheffield United didn't survive the 4-0 thrashing, from being top of the league at Christmas, they dropped off to finish mid table.
@@SimSim-zf9if prior to the mid 1970s fans at the Sheffield derby stood wherever they wanted in the ground. You just paid on the gate, the result was that Owls fans would mass on the Shoreham and Blades on the Hillsborough Kop. The atmosphere everywhere in the ground was great. I understand why fans have to be segregated now but I believe it has added to the problem. A real Catch-22 situation
So proud of our supporters despite the shit we get not many more clubs in the world have that support given the position we’re in and av been for years
The one constant over the years even after watching some of the dross served up is our amazing supporters, 40k plus at Wembley and the peterborough 2nd leg at Hillsborough was a real spectacle, we need three sides of Hillsborough rocking against west Brom Saturday 💙🤍💙🤍🩵🤍
Great noise from the Wednesday fans. With the guy waving the crutches in the crowd, it was very reminiscent of that great 4-2 league cup semi final win in 1993. Awesome 👏
it's done my head in since the weekend and no one has mentioned if the know the bloke actually needed them and it's just an amazing coincidence or if he took them to recreate the 93 semi it sounds bizarre I know but he's in almost the exact spot from 31 years ago 😂
At 3:33 to put into perspective how load that hark now hear was that was started by Georgy Byers. The sound wave shook Harry’s camera. That’s how loud that was. Absolutely loved this away game and the atmosphere was phenomenal. Come on Wendy, let’s get over the line.
Loyalty is not a common virtue amongst today’s footballers, chase the money is usually the case, but in Barry bannan , our captain that is not his way, he is an owl , he truly is one of our greatest ever
We got amazing fans … an amazing manager ( and support staff)… some very good players and a decent ground. We deserve a Chairman who will back this manager so we can move forward to where we belong …back in the Premiership. WAWAW🦉🦉🦉
I’ve been an owls fan for 75yrs even though i am a salopian. Been desperate ly ill for last 12 yrs and can’no longer walk what an amazing supporters owls have especially the stuff they have had to endure great songs etc. but don’t let yourselves down with the filthy language you are better than that. The best in the game. Bless your u all
@BobBreeze-tr7hq Yes, the support they get is superb considering the difficult times since relegation from the top league around a quarter of a century ago. The supporters have displayed unwavering loyalty.
SWFC fans are a double edged sword, they are massive and will cheer you through but at the same time can be an incredibly toxic element that can attack if you fail.
13 games without a win at start of season, and didn’t go down, and you think the team is shit, obviously not very knowledgeable about football, probably a grunter
Your fans had fa to do with it. You had the match winner, Pears ably assisted by tosser Hyam and even your guy Waggott in our Directors box. Rover and out.
I mean your fans were absolutely silent our players heard huge support throughout the game that helps massively. If you think otherwise you maybe be mentally challenged.
@@joshualilleker4005 Beat Leeds, lose to trash by gifting the game, they were in shock. I hope you enjoy a long sojourn in L1. Being in TH I am enjoying your rogering.
Oh dear did someone get salt in thier eyes 😂😂😂😂😂😂. The last time I went to your ground was the semi final and just like me there were more Wednesday fans in the jack walker Stand😊😊. If you don't believe that then go look at the stand towards the away end by the 70th minute, your fans kept grassing Wednesday fans up and they got kicked out and that's why the upper stand was virtually empty...FACT 😊😊😊😊😊WAWAW
3:28 - “loudest away end I’ve ever heard” - biggest compliment
You should go to more games mate lol

I haven't lived in Sheffield for 60 years, and still am an ardent Wednesday fan.
I love our fans. When Danny joined, I emailed him, sent him clips like this and asked him to understand our mad passion. I think he gets it!
