It's much easier if your guitar action is set up correctly. I've seen many guitars that have the strings so far away from the neck, most people give up immediately. It's a guitar not a violin.
My F CHORD journey: Hi guys! I learned playing guitar from his videos. I first time saw this video around an year ago, 2 months after buying the guitar. Then I started practicing F chord. First few days: Unbearable pain in fingers, especially index finger and thumb muscles. Couldn't play at all. 1 month: Still pain in fingers, sounded somewhat better but not good. Last 2 high strings where hardest to play. B string was always dead or distorted. Sometimes got very very frustrated like thought of breaking the guitar. 3 month: COULD PLAY F CHORD! But very slow chord changes. Thumb muscle still hurts. 6 months: Could EASILY play F chord, and other bar chords. Chord changes with open chords and other bar chords somewhat better but still slow, around 3 seconds gap in between changes. Thumb muscle still hurts. Singing along with playing guitar very difficult, couldn't do together. 1 year: Open and bar chords progression containing F chord faster such that it sounds good with songs. Can sing and play together but still its hard and requires lots of concentration. Now: So yeah, can easily play F chord mostly sounding perfect, can do chord progressions with F chord fast. Can sing while playing rythms with F chord but still struggling in this aspect. Fingers and thumb muscles hurt less! And of course, still practicing....... Thanks. That has really helped. Now I can actually manage a fairly clean F chord without sounding any dead strings. Trouble is I look like I'm having a seizure. Practice I guess.
The "classic" teaching methods always give you the full F chord and nothing else. But training the hand by slowly progressing from the simplest to the full chord seems better and more encouraging.
It's nice to know that the F chord can be played more easily. I try to play it with even the most difficult variant, but there was a problem with switching chords. So I would like to thank you for this video.

I realized that it really doesn’t take much pressure to get a clear note as I thought. It’s much more about positioning.

I onced confused why there are a few F chords with different fingers placement. You explained very well. Easy to the Best F chords is what they are. Useful and quick !
In addition to not having to press all strings, I once saw a great method in another video: Instead of clamping down with “just” that one weak index finger, apply pressure to the guitar with your right arm and pull it a little more towards your body… and then hold the left index against that pressure. I find that much easier. In combination, it works really well. Now I just have to practice so the chord changes are quicker 😊.

Great tutorial as always! I've been playing 4 months. I commented on your Tennessee Whiskey tutorial when I first started playing, but I digress. As I watch this, I still cannot play the F chord in form 2 of your video as much as I try, but the F barre... oh yeah, I seriously have no problems with that. I got the Bm barre down from trying to play Tennessee Whiskey, so then when I went to play the F barre, it was no problem. But I still can't play the second shape you show. I'm not sure whether or not I should be proud of that. haha
Bro you're a life saver bro after a long time i'm happy to learn how to finally play the chord as early as possibleee, i finally learned how to play F chord just need a little more practice, thank you bro, it helped me a lot.

Thank you very much!!! I've been trying to play bar-chord for so long, but I've been suffering from the wrist pain. but your video literally fixed it in a sec!!! It was really worthy that I've been still trying to keep practicing while taking care of my wrist, even though I got wrist injured. Thank you so so so much! I've learn one lesson for my life like "unless I don't give up, anyway I will get it one day!!!" Thank you very much for this amazingly useful video!!! Have a happy and healthy day❣🙏🏻😆
Im still remember when I first time watching this like f Chord is fcking hard ..but pass 5 month already and i rocking with f Chord..I'm really happy about my progression
Thanks for the insight. Especially on how strings 1, 2, and 6, need focus on the barre chord. I had been trying to make it more complicated by having all six ring true. This completely makes sense.
My fingers are dying and I keep accidentally muting strings but I’m determined to learn and play guitar. Thanks for your clear video for beginners, wish me luck for the future! ❤️❤️
Practice makes perfect. Watched this video a while back and was so frustrated. It took me two years to play barre chords correctly and by that I mean switching bettwen open chords and bar chords without loosing the rythm. Guys this is really difficult. It takes a very long time to play correctly so don't beat yourself up if you can't do it yet. You just have to keep trying until you get it, no other way around it.
Thanks for the help! Your tutorials are always so perfect and helpful, cant imagine the amount of editing you have to go through each time you record lol. Keep it up man o7
I remember watching this video about 4 months ago when this chord Was driving me crazy but now I can finnaly play this easily and perform chord progressions
OMG I KNOWW!!!! it´s the worst of them ALL uhhrrr I hate it so much.. like, you got the full chords down for a song but everytime you transition to the freakin Bm it ruins the whole tempo -.- srry I just have strong feelings about this one
Haha as I said to Beatriz - The Bm shape should be no harder than F - just apply the same priciples. Or is there something else about the chord that you can't get?
i just saw the comment and now i dont know what i've been trying to play... the one i saw was quite the stretch and i have really tiny hands, ill try it your way haha thanks for the tips
I had surgery on my middle left-hand finger (I tore my tendon completely when i was about 20 and had to be replaced somehow, Don't know exactly what they did, but i can't ben my finger more than about 90 degrees) which prevented me from playing this note right (just learning here), but this really helped me get it!! @@hunterg6976 I dont even know if my hands are too small or my griff is too wide, I got my guitar from my aunt who had it when she was younger or something so it's an old guitar I didnt choose
Yugoslavioni Art yeah I get you, I got mine from my older brother. I know for a fact that my pinky’s r too small tho lol, up against everyone I knows hands I have the smallest ones and they all my age and some are smaller than me in height lol.
I'm not sure whether or not I should be proud of that. haha
I think I pulled my index finger lmao
lol
Nepali ho tmi?
Bro you're a life saver bro after a long time i'm happy to learn how to finally play the chord as early as possibleee, i finally learned how to play F chord just need a little more practice, thank you bro, it helped me a lot.
why am I even watching this I can play the F chord lmao I'm a sad sad person
Hahaha
Me too! I didn't realise I could but I just tried it; 's not that bad!
Even me bro...
Know the hardest F*** chord also
Luckyyyy
This helped me: grip your thumb behind the thinnest strings. This helped me ring out the smallest string.
Great lesson Dave. Your guitar is beautiful, what is it?
Cheers Brendan! It's a Cole Clark Fat Lady 2 - they're australian built guitars which are top notch in my opinion!
Nice one,thanks for replying

Thanks so much previously was applying most of the force to my index finger and I couldn’t get to sound right but when I pushed with the thumb like u said it finally worked
Liked and subscribed. Great tutorials man. Looking forward to your e book
Have a happy and healthy day❣🙏🏻😆
Me plays g, a, c, d, and other chords: that’s easy!!! Then seeing the f chord: 😱🤯🤬🤢🤮 (ps I’m a beginner)
B.. lol
@@nine9s-subliminals106 yeah B is much harder for me when I was a beginner
I can play E EM A AM G C CM..... F no. my fingers cant handel barre cords
@@ashleynixon8305 haha lol im kinda better now since its ben a year
Im still remember when I first time watching this like f Chord is fcking hard ..but pass 5 month already and i rocking with f Chord..I'm really happy about my progression
Sugar we're going down Acoustic tutorial?
Thanks for the insight. Especially on how strings 1, 2, and 6, need focus on the barre chord. I had been trying to make it more complicated by having all six ring true. This completely makes sense.
My fingers are dying and I keep accidentally muting strings but I’m determined to learn and play guitar. Thanks for your clear video for beginners, wish me luck for the future! ❤️❤️
Same. My skin on my fingers are peeled💀
Can you do it now?
Practice makes perfect. Watched this video a while back and was so frustrated.
It took me two years to play barre chords correctly and by that I mean switching bettwen open chords and bar chords without loosing the rythm.
Guys this is really difficult. It takes a very long time to play correctly so don't beat yourself up if you can't do it yet. You just have to keep trying until you get it, no other way around it.
You have to do a B chord!!
Definitely will!
Thanks for the help! Your tutorials are always so perfect and helpful, cant imagine the amount of editing you have to go through each time you record lol. Keep it up man o7
Oml!!! This chord is torture to my fingers.
I remember watching this video about 4 months ago when this chord Was driving me crazy but now I can finnaly play this easily and perform chord progressions
This is considered the hardest chord, isn't it? If so, you master this you can master em' all!
Not the hardest out there, but this is the biggest hurdle for most beginners!
GuitarZero2Hero do one for Bb. It’s fucking harder than the f chord
Fuuuuuuuuck!
@@GuitarZero2Hero what chords are harder than F barre chords?
@@ojsojs6004 i think chord Eb is hardest
also lowest guitar note in standard EADGBe tuning is E note that why it make Eb chord very hard
Omg yes!! Thank you!! Yesterday was my day for trying to get it & im nearly there, now with your guidance Im sure ill get it yessss!!!! Xxx
can you do one for bm please i just cant seem to get it :/
OMG I KNOWW!!!! it´s the worst of them ALL uhhrrr I hate it so much.. like, you got the full chords down for a song but everytime you transition to the freakin Bm it ruins the whole tempo -.- srry I just have strong feelings about this one
HAHA i feel you on that one. I remember in the beginning having a really hard time with F but Bm realllly frustrates me.
+GuitarZero2Hero I learned the F chord before a Bm and its really easy compared to an F chord
I can’t thank you enough I have always struggled with this and your way of teaching is so supportive and helped me out so much. Now I can play it!!!
This chord is probably why the F word was invented
No joke bro
I had surgery on my middle left-hand finger (I tore my tendon completely when i was about 20 and had to be replaced somehow, Don't know exactly what they did, but i can't ben my finger more than about 90 degrees) which prevented me from playing this note right (just learning here), but this really helped me get it!! I can't say thanks enough!
