Welcome back to my brand new mini-series on how to play barre chords! 🎉 I thought it would be a good idea to start off by addressing the top 5 mistakes I see beginners making when trying to play clean barre chords and how you can fix them. 💪 Of course, there's a lot more that goes into mastering your barre chords, like understanding how they work and learning how to practice them effectively. 🎸 So make sure to stay tuned for episode 2 where I show you the 4 basic shapes that make up all the main barre chords and how you can use them for practice! 🎶 Thank you to Zager guitars for sending me their ZAD80 model to feature in this series. 🙏 If you'd like to check them out, make sure to use my link here: shrsl.com/4dsi2 and thanks so much for watching! 💕
Cant believe this hasn't got 100K+ views yet.. This is the only video that teaches me EVERYTHING to be able to do barre chords after trying it for a month straight.
Aww thanks so much! 🥰 I'm really glad these tips helped you, and you watching this helps me get a little closer to hitting that 100k view mark - so thank you! 😉🫶🎸🎶💕
Aww that's awesome!! 🎉 I'm really glad these tips were helpful for you, and thanks so much for watching and trying them out! 🎸🎶 Hopefully now you can jam to lots of new songs! 🙌
Aww yay! 🥰 I'm so glad these videos have been helping you get started, and thanks for watching them and taking the time to leave this sweet comment! 🙏 I hope you continue to have fun with the learning process. 🤗
You’re an excellent teacher. The information in this video is clear and instantly applicable. Thank you. BlessIngs, joy, love, and peace to you and your family.
Thanks so much for this sweet feedback! 🥰 I'm really glad you liked the presentation and tips and hopefully barre chords will start to feel easier for you soon. 💪 Thanks for watching! 💕
Wow this has been a huge issue from the beginning for me, YEARS ago, and I've tried to play barre chords without success multiple times... but before even finishing the video I managed to get a couple clean sounds, for the first time ever!!! Thank you so so much 😭😭❤️
Aww yay!! 🥳 That makes me so happy to read! 🥰 I'm glad you decided not to give up and congrats on getting your first few clean barre chords! 🙌 I hope you'll let that motivate you to keep going. 💪 Thanks so much for watching, and congrats again! 💕
That's amazing!! 🎉 I'm so excited for you and happy these tips seemed to help! 🙌 Thanks for watching and learning guitar with me, and I hope you have fun playing more songs than ever now that you've unlocked barre chord shapes! 🎸🎶
Omg this video has been the most helpful one out of all of the ones I have seen. I still struggle with chord but after watching this video I could barre with just one finger with all notes coming out. 😊
That actually helped so much! The main tip I found most helpful was rotating my index finger, I haven’t considered the “squishy part” affecting the amount of effort I had to put in and the buzzing sound it consequently made. Thanks a lot and may others find your tips helpful too! 🍀
Isn't it awesome how making just a small adjustment like that can improve the sound of your barre chord overall? 🙌 I'm so glad you found these tips helpful and thanks so much for watching! 🥰
Great tutorial! My guitar teacher once told me to use your left arm (if your right handed) to pull the neck back helping take the brunt off your fingers. That really helped too..
Definitely! As well as using your right elbow to pull back on the body of the guitar. 👍🏼 Wish I’d added these tips in the video but great to bring it up in the comments at least! 🤗 Thanks for watching! 💕
Super helpful! Really helped me understand why I was struggling so much to play even just a few, basic barre chords. Looking forward to the rest of this series. thank you so much!
I'm so glad these tips were helpful to you so far! 🙌 Hopefully by the end of this series, you'll have a good foundation of understanding barre chords that can help you move forward on your guitar journey! 💕
I have always put off barre chords and when I've tried before it never really sunk in maybe I wasn't ready or maybe i was lazy but thanks to you I'm actually able to barre
Thank you so much for this, I've been struggling with this for a while and couldn't quite get it down, I tried what you said and I got it straight off, thanks again.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO! I instantly got how to play a barre chord with your tips. I was so close to giving up because ever since I started playing guitar, I always just skipped the songs with barre chords even they are my favorite. It still hurts a bit to play, but I think when I get used to it, it will be fine!
You are totally right! 💯 Just like open chords can be uncomfortable and painful for beginner guitarists, barre chords will feel like that for a while too. 🙈 But as you practice them more and more, you start to build up the calluses you need and strengthen the muscle memory until they feel just as natural as playing open chords. 💪 I'm really glad these tips were helpful for you, and I hope you'll continue to be motivated to play songs with barre chords in them because you can totally do it now!! 🎸🎶💕 Thanks for watching! 🫶
Yay that's awesome!! Congrats! 🥳 I'm really glad these tips were helpful and now you can start playing more songs with barre chords! 🙌 Thanks for watching and learning guitar with me. 🥰
i’m in a guitar class and missed a week of class for personal stuff and when i got back all the teacher told me is “we’re doing barre chords start practicing the ones written down on the board” and immediately went into his office and let the class do their own thing 😭 this helps a lot
Barre chords are without a doubt one of the biggest challenges for me - I know several of them already, but forming and switching between them is challenging... one song that helps to practice whilst feeling like one is making progress is Hotel California that switches between a Bm and an F#, but yeah still a struggle - this video has been great though - I think that your tips are great - and I am going to watch the second on shortly. Oh, and an Am6 is another stretch that I really struggle with... but it's fun to learn - I started about 8 months ago - I am 62... 😂
Thanks so much for checking out my video and hopefully the tips in the rest of this series can help you get those barre chord transitions faster! 🙌 I think it's perfect you have some songs in mind that are fun and a challenge because that'll help keep you motivated. 💪 Rooting for you! 🤗💕
I'm so glad these tips gave you the motivation to try again! 🥰 Barre chords are tough, but totally doable with some practice time. 🙌 Thanks for watching and sending you good vibes to get them down! 🦋
thank you so much this helped like nothing else did 💗💗💗 even videos where the comments said "i couldnt do bar chords now i can!" didnt work, but this one covered everything for me to be able to do them decent enough to practice and get better
Aww yay! 🥰 I'm really glad these tips were helpful for you and hopefully with some more practice you'll be playing barre chords with ease in no time. 🤗 Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave this sweet comment! 🎸🎶💕
You shouldn't have to! 💪 They definitely take a lot of patience and practice to get down, but it's so worth it to put in the effort because once you unlock barre chords, it really opens up the world of playing more songs and styles of music on guitar! 🎸🎶 Thanks for watching! 🤗💕
Hi teacher, it's my first time here. Thank for tips on how to hold the bar technique, how to use thump and adjust finger and elbow, something I never thought of before, no wonder I never improve after all these years. I will try to practice what I just learned from you, Thanks.
When I'm playing F with my pick it can sound quite clean and bright but not so when playing with my hand, without pick. In this case it sounds like half-muted or dull though the left hand does (supposedly) the same. It happens only when I try to play b a r chords
It looks like the 1st finger (pointing finger) is actually responsible for fretting 2 strings when barring Bm. You don't really have to hold or fret all 5 strings in that case. What are your thoughts?

I suck still :( I finally feel like I have the bar itself down better but then I try to place my other fingers and my bar finger lifts up and messes up the sound
I have toddler sized hands and I’m 16 so it’s really hard to play even though I have really strong hands as I’m also a competitive rock climber. I still can’t do it even though your tutorials easy to do one step at a time but I can’t put it all together.

When I'm playing F with my pick it can sound quite clean and bright but not so when playing with my hand, without pick. In this case it sounds like half-muted or dull though the left hand does (supposedly) the same. It happens only when I try to play b a r chords
