I fell that helps with the whole message of the song, I’ve recontextualized a bit of the song in the way of “would you put your phone down” in the way of, putting your phone down would help you be happier, like the person is so distracted in their phone but if you put your phone down you’ll be way less sad
The other inspiration is the ending to Simon and Garfunkel's My little town but of course if they played that it would easily give it away. I loved watching this when I was at the concert
If an old man says it, they might have hearing problems. If your parents say it, its a warning. But if one of AJR says "could you say that again?" , it's aboutta be a hit song.
Interesting, on the Zach Sang show the phrase “Don't you love it, don't you love it? No, I ain't happy yet. But I'm way less sad” they originally wrote for a song they were going to give to Kygo. And the horns were sampled from the song My Little Town by Simon & Garfunkel that caught their attention 12 years ago.
I was at that concert on Thursday. Best concert ever they played in the audience. Everything AJR is just awesome. They are actually like the best band and this is a really good song too.
i loves this part of the tour! we saw it in Cincinnati on the 23rd and it was THE BEST concert i have ever been to. very nice view, mxmtoon was fun, all of it was awesome and merch lines were not even lines, they were so short. it was so good that all the ajr songs are stuck in my head constantly. 10/10 experience!
1:43 I swear if they perform "How We Made I'm Ready / I'm Ready" they could very well get to this point and say "And we hadn't done that before, so we said 'sure, let's try that out!'" and continue from there. ...Tho How We Made Pitchfork Kids / Pitchfork Kids is also (imo) a much cooler thought
I love you guys and I got to come to your concert for the first time and I was so excited and I wanted to enjoy the moment and have fun and I want to come again next time.
AJR is the only band I know of that in the process of making an absolute banger will skip over 2-5 dope beats just because it's not them cause they care more about making music that they enjoy than making a song that sounds good
The one thing I don’t like about this is that they forgot to include the fact that they used a sample from a Simon and Garfunkel song that they wished was used more on the original song besides just at the end. That seemed to be a main point the first time they talked about making Way Less Sad.
How we made best to worst: 1. How we made: Way Less Sad 2. How we made: Don’t Throw Out My Legos 3. How we made: Weak 4. How we made: Bang 5. How we made: Burn The House Down 6. How we made: Drama Whats yours. 👇🏻
This isn't just a concert, it's an unforgettable experience. Tickets: www.ajrbrothers.com/tour/#
So true, I went to Boston and it was unforgettable!
it really is!
I went to Oklahoma City last night 5/4/2024
Thank you for the vid, I was at the concert last night and I was trying to find the video in my album, but apparently I got deleted
this is the best iteration of the "how we made..." series BY FAR imo
don’t you love it dont you love it
@@redmask1252 oh, no
dont throw out my legos
Nahhh how they made weak is superior
@@redmask1252 no i aint happy yet, but im way less saddd
The entire series of Making of is canon, Except for Weak, it was a bad one.
I will Never unhear the ‘would you put your phone down’ 😂

Same, now it’s all I hear when I hear the song! I’ll never unhear it
Lol
I cannot believe they practically made this song years ago when they were kids without even knowing. AJR, I tip my hat to you
I know he literally said “don’t you love it”
The other inspiration is the ending to Simon and Garfunkel's My little town but of course if they played that it would easily give it away. I loved watching this when I was at the concert

Underrated comment LMFAOO
"How we made weak" still has the best beat drop
wrong, it’s “how we made bang”
wrong, it’s "how we made don’t throw out my legos"
@@hhhhj5831 i dont really like dont throw out my legos but its ok

check out the making of drama
now that trumpet melody sounds like put your phone down

Yeah, they did kinda make this story up for the stage. It is more interesting, but not entirely accurate.
@@DoMorrMusicthere probably is some truth to the stories though. Baby Jack literally said “don’t you love it”
Waitress: Puts the plates down.
AJR: Gets all the recording equipment
AJR: "Do it again!"
I always get goosebumps when it all comes together ❤
SAME, BUT IT’S GREAT

2:13 is about where i figured out which song it was. I lost my mind, it's my favorite song!! I wasn't expecting them to play it ❤❤
It's a favourite of mine too! Way less sad and weak are my top songs ^^
"would you put your phone down???"

Just got to see this in person, caught me so offguard, teared up when I realized what it was, AJR is insane live.

The baby jack as Arthur says “don’t you love it” 🥹 it couldn’t be more perfect
This is my favorite Ajr song, and i saw them do this live in grand rapids, truly an unforgettable experience
Thank you so much for filling this, I’ve been looking this to re live it. I hope you enjoyed the concert ❤

literally the drum beat for Yes I'm a Mess

It’s crazy how the beginning of Way Less Sad sounded like I’m Ready
Thank you! I saw part of this in an AJR short, but couldn't find the full video.

They did that play the Turning Out Trilogy, waiting for that too!
I Wish they would do a tour of the world especially in the Philippines

who the fuck said bring it all in, they ruined it
Bro that was Ryan who said that. Why would you say “they ruined it”? Ryan saying that was apart of this, it means put it all together to create a song
I think “Bring it all in” was putting the melody together not playing the song
Ryan said that for the instrumentals
0:24 “we were working last year”
what does he mean
