Taryl, you are a fine teacher!! I was a university professor for five years and you are as good an instructor as any I have heard. Well done. My replacement on my X304 without a hitch. You saved me tons of times. Thank you!!!
I am in 100% agreement with you. I was in IT for 20+ years, and now I am a owner operator of a semi, and this video was very helpful. I love that it takes all kinds of people, with different areas of expertise, to make the world go 'round. The tip about keeping the deck clear of objects afterwards is a very good one, that I feel someone who is new to it might forget.
I watched this video and then starting watching a video replacing this belt with the mower deck on . Oh hell no that looked like a disaster for me anyway ! Much easier just to take the deck off. Thanks for making this video . It was simple and easy to follow and saved me some money . Thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯
LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF WORK ! REMOVING THE DECK MUST BE EASIER THAN FEEDING THAT LONG BELT UNDER MOWER WHEN DECK IS ON ! I ENJOY YOU GUYS AND YOUR VIDEO'S !
taryl you should film another blade man and throttle video! I enjoyed that all of those blademan and throttle videos! great job! keep up the great work!
Thanks Dude, you may have saved my marriage! FYI: To anyone who uses a John Deere dealership to repair your mower don’t count on them adjusting the deck leveling,or advising you that you may need to either sharpen or replace your blades! ****They don’t really seem to care about their customer’s! 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
Taryl, I took my deck off my john deere x370 to put on mulching blades. After reinstalling everything I noticed when you turn off the pto the Idler pulley spens for a few seconds after. Is that normal or did I not do something right?
To put the belt back on, you don't need brute strength. You need to read the owner's manual. On the spring tension arm there's a 3/8" square hole where you can insert a ratchet handle. This gives you the leverage to pull it back to loosen the belt. Then slip it over the drive pulley and slowly release the tension arm, letting the spring tighten the belt. Use the same method to remove the belt before jerking your deck off for other reasons like sharpening the blades. There's your dinner with no pinched fingers!
Enjoyed it, I been busy in the off season giving my shop an enema, and a lot of sorting & general upkeep. You know as well that keeping all the loose grass and trash cleaned up is or could be almost a full time job in it's self. We wash and blow dry each unit and we still end up with clippings and trash on the floor & benches......LOLOL. Just a hazard of the trade, right? You friend Okie-Chopper.....
Taryl Fixes All HAHA, I think its great. I always watch the whole video so I can see the conclusion (skipping ahead is cheating!!!!). I repair mowers myself and have learned a ton from you.
William Davis Awesome! I myself have been doing lawn mower repair for the better part of 10 years. We have never had much money and same as you get lawn mowers for free and repair them and get a few seasons out of them.
hi teryl I have a craftsman riding mower I will drive it around the yard twice and it's fine and soon after it will start slowing down the transaxle will get really hot and oil will start coming out and then it will stop if I leave it for fifteen minutes and it will like new but then it will do it again any ideas the brake isn't stuck on
WHY,, WHY... Am I sick??? I found myself rooting for scammer,,, I'm so ashamed ,,, But one thing is for certain ,, I look forward to Sunday nights more than I used to,, Thanks guys,, I will get through my work week now, love your hard work on these vids, your fan in Alaska !!!! kodi
Pivoting arm, that spring attaches to, will wear its mounting holes egg shaped and cause grief. To release tension to get belt around tractor pto clutch...use 3/8" ratchet on square hole on pivoting arm or unhook spring, position belt, pull spring with hook or piece of starter rope or similar onto hook welded on deck.
I always thought that John Deere belts had a different bevel angle than other brands of belts. They work but don't last as long as original JD belts. Please correct me if I'm wrong ~!~!
Most riders i did on JD's specified a certain bevel. Like I said I wasn't sure about it 100 % Thanks for the feed back. Super hot Peppers are my forte. Not mowers but I do own a repair shop and I do have a good name in town. I have JD dealership within a mile from my shop so it's cheaper to have them bring it to me. My buddy is the parts manager. ~!~!
Better take a better look at that carbatrator. If it's running on choke that's a carb problem. Make sure you go through it thoroughly enough. And There's Yur Dinner!
great video, i am from montreal, quebec , canada are you going to do more videos on snowblowers ? by the way keep up those cool videos coming. hopefully next time we will see the new villian choker. lol, and dont forget your dinner. lol have a great week.
Hey, on a off note... I have a request, on a part time basis for the last 4 years I owned and operated a landscaping business. Hours were long and it took time away from the family, with my full time job and grass cutting it got to much. I'm a self taught mech and have learned more in the last few months watching your vids than any other site or channel. I've started and almost gave up on a small engine repair shop I started in my garage, it kept me home , but I didn't do well the first year. Maybe you could educate small time guys like me on how to make a profit. There aren't many shops in my area and this work is in high demand. I'd like to help people with a decent price and make a little gas money. Thanks in advance!
Great entertaining videos, I fix my own stuff and I always learn something.....then again...maybe I just like sitting on my a$$ and watching others work.

Boo luquette I think it depends on the mower model. I know some deeres are like that but not sure if it's all of them.
Most riders i did on JD's specified a certain bevel. Like I said I wasn't sure about it 100 %
Thanks for the feed back.

Better take a better look at that carbatrator. If it's running on choke that's a carb problem. Make sure you go through it thoroughly enough. And There's Yur Dinner!
