- In this video I design a 3D printed, robot inspired fume extractor. Hopefully, this will keep the smoke out of my face when Soldering up electronics.

This channel very surprising to me. The quality of the content vs. the relatively low number of subscribers. I enjoy you videos and wish you the best of luck.
Nice!
Nice design, looks cool n funky :)
Thanks!
that's pretty cool man!
Thanks!
That's cool
always love to see other peoples way of modeling stuff, so go ahead if you like :)
Awesome, I'll add some more in my next one for sure. Thanks for checking it out!
Amazing to watch! I personally would love to see more projects done using the 3D printer.
Awesome, I have a few more that I'm working on editing!
Here is another 3D printed solder fume extractor, works very well I use it all the time www.thingiverse.com/thing:3474360
Nice Job :)
Looks fun i'll be printing one out and trust me I do the same thing, I let myself be distracted by something while I should be doing other things lol
Dude that is awesome. When I procrastinate, I just wind up reading BuzzFeed, You make robot heads.
Nice design! I just wanted to give a feedback. I built a similar fume extractor and never thought about the fan placement before I was done with the enclosure. Just like yours air is sucked through the motor and then it gets filtered. That means that also small particles around the shop gets sucked in and make a mess in the enclosure. Next time I build a fume extractor I will make sure that the air gets filtered first.
That's a really good point, I don't do a ton of soldering, so I'm hoping it won't get too messy, but if I make another version I'll definitely consider that! Thanks for checking it out!
hi..i got this 3D printed soldering fume from my friend and review on my youtuba channel...but i have questions...can you add version for bigger fan? like 120mm :)
Damn I thought the smoke was going to blow out the ears.
ahhh....I'm kind of upset I did not think of that! Maybe in version 2!

If it's visible enough it should look good. But if there isn't enough of it, which I suspect, it's probably not worth it.
However the conical constriction of the "ears" should give it a nice jetting effect and blow it further away. It shouldn't get reintroduced to the inlet.
Have you tried putting acetone on a rag and smoothing it out instead of sanding. It gives it a smooth and glossy finish.
I think acetone only works on ABS plastic, and this was printed in PLA, but maybe I should look into printing more with ABS so I can give it a try!
