Everyone calls Lucy selfish for what she did but can you blame her? To protect the one you care about, you will do anything to ensure they'll be ok. Yeah she only cared about Kohta but think about it. He was the only person to not only show kindness but he made her feel like a human being and not a monster. Not everyone is a bad person, but if misguided can turn into heartless people. She didn't want anyone else besides him and would do anything for him. Selfish is too harsh. Its just in her mind if he was gone, there would be no one else out there who actually cares for her.
@WASDragon yh true. People tend to point out it's flaws rather than seeing the beauty of this anime. It plays on emotions and its one of the biggest factors to the whole series. Being mistreated because of being different lead Lucy to kill and after seeing Kohta and becoming friends she felt like as if she was a part of society, being human. In my experience with animes and movies, none has relied on emotions more than elfen lied has and that's why it's one of my most favourite animes of all time. Truly a spectacle
Alot like another anime i know (take any guess you want) and i wish there was a season two but this anime was released around 2004 (I looked it up tell me if i'm wrong) so a season two seems extremely unlikely which makes me sad since i benched this entire series in five or six hours and i loved so much about it.
I haven't heard much of Elfen Lied until I watched "Death Battle: Carnage vs Lucy." I binged watched the entire anime, and I enjoyed it. It really shows and expands on the concept of people fearing and belittling other people of things they don't understand. Before the Diclonius release the vectors, they face bullying, isolation, and experimentation simply because of two horns on their heads. It also shows a darker side to humanity that lies within all of us, whether we admit to ourselves or not, and that dark side can create monsters that are extremely dangerous. Lucy didn't ask to be "queen" of this hostile species. She was forced into this role from birth and didn't become dangerous until after being exposed to these dark elements. I know for a fact that I am not the only one who believed the boys who murdered the puppy deserved to be killed. Meeting Kouta was the only bright spot in Lucy's life, showing that warmth, love and kindness was all she, or anyone for that matter, really needs. Our actions, intentional or otherwise, have an affect on the people around us, and we should tread lightly on how we treat others. Overall, it's a very good show. One that will break your heart, and make you shed many tears.

She was a 5 year old and the humans teached her that she was a monster that hurts people! All she wanted was to live a normal life with her parents. When she met her dad, he pointed a gun to her. It's just so sad!
