Really enjoy your work. Now the other part😆 You implied it, but I feel it's important to make clear, especially for the new or returning to RC type. A bench, even a card table, means you can leave everything in one place until you are done. Enjoyment of the hobby goes way up when you can do this. Thanks again for all the information and help you've given to me and many others.
Great workspace. Another consideration is a lip around the work surface to keep tiny washers and bearings from rolling off the work surface. I used 1/2 rubber weatherstripping instead of a metal angle to keep from cutting into my forearm. It saved me from crawling around on the floor looking when my sleeve wiped parts to their doom.
I just built mine using 2x kitchen base units with a shelf and 2ft X 8ft 3/8 ply I gave it 3x coats of quick drying varnish for my RC craft room I then got a secret labs Joker chair which I can sit in all day without back pain to build and work on my RCS,I then done the same with my shed minus the chair so I can work and airbrush in there am really happy with both set ups
I picked up an old desk from a second hand store, it’s an old well worn 50’s/60’s era piece of furniture not cheap laminated MDF like the newer stuff it was probably something you’d find as a school teachers desk with two side by side lockable drawers I added plywood on top to expand the work surface a little and put a urethane clear coat on the plywood to extend the life and make cleanup easier. it’s against a wall that I added some shelving to and I’ve built kinda a cubicle by surrounding two remaining sides with simple store bought free standing steel & MDF shelving since it’s in my garage it sometimes does double duty as a work bench for my 1:1 car repair projects too
Another small idea with the bench top, I normally like to countersink the screws and put a wood cap on them and you can either leave the cap or sand it flush depending if you want to hide them
Really nice work area Greg! Only thing I would suggest (if you have one) take and router the top outside edge. Make it a little easier on the arms and elbows.😬👍🏼
Great job there Greg. At the current time and space I love those portable fold-out tables. They fit in back of the truck/car and go where I run my RC's. I have several and the wider ones as well. I actually stack one on top of the other so large components go on top etc. Then I use a LED light and attach it to the underside of the the top table to shine down on the lower table. I also grabbed a 2' magnetic bar and my steel tools stay attached to that bar so there is very little time lost searching for a tool!!! ( magnetic bar sticks to the top table leg ) !!!!!!!! Works great.
Love the setup! Can’t wait to move out of my one bed one bath apt so I can have a bigger setup😂 thanks for the ideas and tips on how to build a work bench!
Great video. I'm glad you showed a selection of work benches. I'm very jealous of that beast of a workbench. Looks really nice and it has so much room for activities!!
The other nice thing about building your own, is you can make it fit you. I have a craftsman work bench I can sit at and I built a much larger work bench I can stand comfortable at. That work bench is 4 foot or 1.2 meters tall so it puts my bench top drill press at a nice usable height for me as well as the vice and bench grinder. I picked up a sheet of 22gauge steel and covered the plywood with it so I can safely do some welding on it.
Amazing job! I couldent help but to notice the clod buster, I'm jealous lol those are my favorite, I have an old 1987 clod in the works, just needs a body and electronics
AWESOME BENCH AND HOBBY ROOM. 😀. CHEAP YOGA MATS WORK GREAT TOO. ALONG WITH THE YOGA BLOCKS AS CAR STANDS. BOTH CHEAPER THAN NAME BRAND PIT MATS 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Another trick is to get a cheap kitchen counter top from the home center and put that on top of the plywood. They are usually wood with a vinyl top. They handle spills very well but need to be reinforced with plywood underneath.
Love the new workshop Greg! You’ve done a killer job on it. I’d like to do something similar but I’d have to do it on a smaller scale as I don’t have the room you do. Oh, and as soon as you said to grab the tool caddy because they won’t last long, I went to your Amain link to order it......sold out!!🤦🏻♂️great video my friend, thanks for sharing!!
I definitely am going to need all of these things. I haven’t watched yet, but I know I will. 😂😂. I’m making a “bold” prediction, and say this video was excellent! (Not very bold, they are always great. 😁😁)
I'm not new but just have been using my gaming desk to work on my RCs.😬. I already built one but I'm just curious about your ideas. What j built is hard to explain. It's a simple desk on the bottom but it has shelfs on the back and right side and has a platform on the shelfs and a little support in the left side for the part of the top that's hanging so I can't out my Maxx on the top. And so I can out some leds on the top so I can see what I'm doing
Hey man I really need some feedback it’s because I ordered eight RC car JLB racing RC car and I’ve been having it for a while and a few things bent and I replaced them all but I really need help with the motion of the rear front wheels it’s because it feels like the motor for the wheels isn’t strong enough?
I don't know why but as you cut that wood an idea went off in my head. No. Had nohing to do with a workshop. I'm like...I gotta get some popsicle sticks to make a wooden bed for one of my scale rigs. Thanks for the idea. 😉😃🤣 Anyone know of something better than popsicle sticks? Thanks.
I have the Axis-RC 5th scale work stands I have three looking to get at least one more I have all their adapters LOSI 5ive-T/DBXL HPI Baja adapters two, Kraken-RC Vekta-5/KV5TT adapters x2 wish they did one for the FID-RC Dragon Hammer plus MCD and FG as I have got al these I need stands like them for my TRAXXAS UDR and LOSI SBR clone hopefully one will happen I have the Dynamite-RC Universal 5th scale stand it is bad as it being universal it fits none well or easy to mount any vehicle avoid it unless you only want it for just one and can leave it for that not changing mounts to fit others, I have had my DBXL and HPI 5SC fall off while trying to mount them up. I also have a Sealey mobile height adjustable small workbench for engine and vehicles with no stand a Taskmaster engine rebuild trolley for my soldering station and three BZM engine stands and one Overkill Concepts engine stand along with a Fast Eddy HPI work stand for work tops not like the others free standing, having limited room having one's you can roll out the way put in a corner or fold up out the way the Axis-RC ones are great to take to a track day or even while bashing if repairs need doing.
Really enjoy your work. Now the other part😆

Man I wish I had room for the bigger bench! As a carpenter I think you did a great job
There's not many of us left. Been building houses all my life until 2008.
You got me wanting to ditch my folding tables and build a nicer bench. lol Nice work!

Once we finish moving I’m definitely going to try this out thanks for the video and information appreciate the content
Good call on the GRK screws. They are excellent.
I can't be the only one to notice the 3 6x6s on the wall right haha
Very cool stuff RCDO
Great video.

Building it is always better. I have a bunch of homemade shelves and an old school teachers desk I got for free. Great vid Greg!👍🤙

Dig your channel and great job on the new shop!! This was a very informative video!! Thanks!!
Sweet.
Thanks for linking all those tools! Always so much easier when RUclipsrs do that
Cool.
Definitely going to get me a pit mat. Wish Traxxas still made theirs.
Looks like Traxxas will have their mats back in March. The PL mat is good too though.
I have 2 of the protek mats and they’re also great. Nice size and a bit cheaper than most the others.
Pit mat in stock
Pit mats are just rebranded yoga mats. Just go to Walmart and buy a cheap yoga mat and cut it to the size you want.
This was a great video
Where did you get the desk lamps? Great video
Hey bud lovely little shop 🎉 can I ask who’s the manufacturer of your rollers with drawers ?
nice. thanks for the ideas
Great video as always! What is the light you’re using that sits on the table? Looks like you have a few... I’m assuming you would recommend these?

Great advice

I bought a 6ft folding table from Walmart and a light with. Built in magnified glass from Harbor freight

This is almost like my hole apartment looks like. 🤘
It's bigger than my off grid tiny house in the Sierras. Found out black bears are afraid of my Ford Carisma. I chased one down the trail with it.
My work bench is my bed, with pit matt that I slap on
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID, SMILING SWEETLY.
I prefer kitchen style worktop or a bench rather than wood as its much easier to clean the oil, grease and dirt off.

Is there away to get a list of how Makes, Part number, description and where you got all the part for the Solid Axial Monster Truck project?
In the video description for each part of the series there is a list for the products shown.
hey do you have a store front ??
I don't know why but as you cut that wood an idea went off in my head. No. Had nohing to do with a workshop. I'm like...I gotta get some popsicle sticks to make a wooden bed for one of my scale rigs. Thanks for the idea. 😉😃🤣

Yoga Matts work better than towel
My problem with my work bench is that It is never clean. Always has a build up of something. LOL...
Where is your RC hobby room? Basement?
First
Does it matter?
@@bigandcoolrcschool294 not really but still
@@short_series-t4r I get your point.
Someone shops at Sam’s Club......
Hello, very nice video and good job, see you soon and if you want to come see my video. 👍
What’s your favorite rc car?
My first RC Car... the Tamiya Falcon 😄
I'm not a carpenter lol
