RC Truck and Car Storage and Workbench Ideas

- After seeing some other folks storage setups, I thought I would share mine.
I initially started with shelves with my trucks on them, transitioned to hook and them hanging, before I finally discovered this solution!
This whole mounting and storage solution is all from leftover 2x4s, other scrap wood, and leftover paint. The only expense was my time and screws!
How does this storage solution look to you? What do you use?
I use telekinesis to hold my vehicles and controllers. It’s tough at first but worth it, no flat spots in the tires. For tools, I juggle whatever I’m using and the parts. This also was difficult for a while but like wrenching skills, it became second nature.
I’d make a video about it, but I’m out of brain power.
Ha!
I have seen this firsthand....it is impressive. :)
Brilliant method, nice work.
Thanks!
Nice trip through your rc work space 👍
Thank you!
I didn't hear anything about Length, Width and Height of your bench system. Nice job. Thanks.
Great solution Troy!!! I need to do something like this.
It really does work well for sure...and is VERY cheap.
One of my main thing is also to try to keep the controller with the vehicle. As I bet you understand, figuring out which one goes with which truck can be a PITA.
Super helpful vid. I still count myself as new to RC, but the cars, tools and parts are quickly accumulating. I have a half-finished basement and that's were the RC's live, my wife would probably appreciate some of your storage ideas!
It is very nice to get them organized for sure!
Great set up!
Thank you!
Looking forward to a RC tyre cleaning machine video. Oh, you may not have one. Seriously though, some great ideas there. I love the way you alternate between hanging vertical, parallel to and perpendicular to the wall. I may notch mine at the axles as we get a few earth tremors here.
Good idea! The notch should hold strong.
I actually love these diy rc shop vids! Not only gives us an inside look into how others manage to keep the overflow of rc's, tools, parts and a proper work area as organized and functional (atleast as best as we can while trying to keep it from being the "greatest place to put anything/ everything on". I too really like the magnetic tool holders as they make it extremely easy to fund, grab and put back our most commonly used tools but also makes picking up hardware easier since they too will have magnetic properties. My concern about the really great/space saving way of storing the rc's is the stress on the shocks. Like the look/functionality of how the "rc tree" stores/displays all the rigs but with heavier rigs I feel like ise need to remove the tires/sheets from each rig(I generally remove tge wheels anyway) but also that method of hanging rc'svon the wall like you did with the xmaxx... I can't help but think that after awhile of hanging the heavier rigs by their arms might cause some stress due to tge overall weight of the larger scale rigs(I use this method for my small scale rc's just not for anything 1/8 or bigger although I see a ton of guys do as you have and haven't heard of them having problems so I could very well be wrong). Anyways great vid and thanks for showing us around. 🍻
Thanks for the detailed comment!
No issues hanging the X-maxx so far...and it has been like that for years.
Also, don't know if you noticed how I hung the 1/8 Arrma vehicles. 2, 2x4s sticking out. Plenty strong that way also.
Thanks for sharing very very helpful information much appreciated.
Yes sir! You are welcome.
That's a nice setup. I have no garage so can't get close to that. They are everywhere and just part of the house 😂
Ha! Yes, without a garage, I assume mine would be similar.
Nice Roadside have great holiday
Thank you!
Really enjoyed seeing your setup. Very nice fleet btw. I think I'm going to steal a couple ideas from ya lol Appreciate you sharing
Steal away! I am just glad it was helpful!
guess if you have a lot of RC cars storing them a problem looks a great idea you have there mate
*👀fully viewed👀👍Au👍thumbs up like*
Thank you for the support Billy.
very good setup thanks
Glad it was helpful!
nice setup, and rc's!
Thank you!
great idea. Got tired of stacking all my rc's on shelves in the garage. I ended up using hangers from Home Depot. Both by Everbilt. Heavy-duty tool rack (#1005-605-653) for my cars, and screw-in tool holder (#864-404) for transmitters. Just evenly space them out down a 2x4 mounted to the wall. Works great. 👍👍
Awesome!
I bet those do work great!
cool ideas,great upload
Thank you!
You have a nice work space man 👍 I have to use shelves and then I set the trucks on old tires. Michigan is way too cold in the winter for a garage workshop unless it's heated lol 👍
That makes sense!
My garage is attached to the house, so that helps insulate it some. Then, I just use a few space heaters to knock the edge off...
But, I assume we are still 20* warmer than you are on average.
@@RoadsideRC It's 25 degrees this morning 🤣 Even the basement is cold ❄️⛄
Yeah, boo! Mid-30s here.
You seriously just put me out in the barn lol
Ha! You are welcome / I am sorry - however it works out.
I'm the blue a90 drift car you just liked on fb lol as I said love the channel
Great! Thank you!
Generally speaking, do you think storing RC'S in the garage are okay? I live in Texas and our Summers can get intense.
I've been in it for a number of years. No issues with mine in the garage.
Think about what they go through before they get to you: packed in shipping containers, loaded on cargo ships for 2-3 months. They get VERY hot before they ever get out of the box.
Same applies for batteries - but you may want to watch those closer.
👍👍
Thank you sir.
This looks great! Could you share some of the dimensions of your car rack?
Sure!
Not boards are 2x4s, to help with dimensions.
The spacing between each platform is 8-16" depending on how big the vehicle is and where I am putting the controller.
If you hang your XMAXX that way and front tires will have flat spots. Just helping you out.
I thought the same thing. However, I have now kept the X-maxx this way for over 1-year with no problems.
I guess the Badland tires are just that hard.
@@RoadsideRC Wow!
That's true with softer tire compounds like crawler tires n stuff, but not badlands.
Thanks for sharing! Looks easy and brilliant. Is this in your garage? Do you worry about the battery's in the garage. Heat moisture etc?
Yes, this is my garage.
So far, the batteries have been fine in the garage.
Ahh now I remember I saw you from reddit what's up bro
Yep! That is me!
where is the chevelle?
Still have it!
@@RoadsideRC let's see it.i have a 71 as well.i am still working on my hobby room, kinda took your idea and put my spin on it
