One time I was tuning my guitar by ear (I thought I could tell the difference between the notes, clearly I couldn't) (and I was quite young btw) and the high e string snapped and I cried out of shock. Then there was a bit of blood but eh. Horrifying experience 10/10 don't trust myself anymore
I work at guitar center and it's so freaking annoying how often people try to tune a guitar that has a string lock. It takes me like 20 min to restring
I've been tuning up guitars for decades, and I still have this thought in the back of my mind that the string is going to pop, wrap around my neck, and decapitate me.
I successfully restringed my guitar for the first time, but the strings have horrible wraps. I have an irrational feeling that one of those strings will snap and fly with full force enough to slit my throat or slit my eyes open.
I know a girl who used to play the violin, and she had a string snap while tuning and whip her in the face... twice! Probably why she switched to cello
My most broken string is the low E. I remember going into a guitar shop for a replacement string and they gave me the wrong E at first, supposedly because they were so surprised that I managed to break it.
I'm not even trying to be funny or anything i genuinely suffered watching this, it actually made me feel physical pain - i dont feel this way when i see videos about people getting hit or hurt lol, but this, this really gave me the chills.
This has happened to me like it has to many guitarists. The funny thing in my case is that it happened 5 seconds after I finished tuning the E string and played my first note on it.
I once got that slamming noise when I was tuning. Thought I’d broken something but turned out nothing serious happened. Or so I hope. Still plays well.
Possibly the twisted part of the string was caught so the ball end wasn't actually seated, and the pop was it settling into its proper place. If it was an acoustic guitar, the ball end may have gotten caught on the tip of the pin instead of against the inside of the top of the guitar.
Every time I feel like life is good and things are gonna turn out okay and happiness is out there for me, I watch this video just to restart my anxiety.
I've been hearing my strings creak more and more lately while I tune my acoustic guitar, so this video really helped my ptsd😱😭 Now I have something to mess with my friends tho🤣
I've never had this happen to me (in 17 years of playing) and I genuinely don't understand how it happens to anyone who isn't just completely confused about what note they're supposed to be tuning to on which string. I've broken plenty of strings while playing but that's never been even remotely violent, the string just kinda goes limp and that's the end of it. I can see why it might be worse if you're not fretting the string, but there's also no real reason it should break if you're tuning to the right note.
Is it that common for strings to break. I've never had a string break when tuning the guitar just while playing and most of the time that's not as dramatic as this video.
As I've said in other comments on the subject: It's always easier after you've had a guitar string go into your face. The first is always the worst... After that, short of one pegging you in the eye or the tooth, you're good.
Just in case you want more PTSD... ruclips.net/video/Ku2KDlEYB-k/видео.html

The first one startled me...
It's the B string that always gets me
Rest in Peace dear E strings😭
My anxiety is through the roof now, thanks 😅
I work at guitar center and it's so freaking annoying how often people try to tune a guitar that has a string lock. It takes me like 20 min to restring

High E: snaps
Every guitarist in a five mile radius: I felt a great disturbance in the force, as if a million voices cried out in terror
After knowing that it’s due to lack of basic knowledge of how to restring&tune : the ability to turn tuning peg does not make you intelligent.
And were suddenly silenced
The first one I snapped was my G string.
Edit: I just realized the lewdness potential of this comment if thought of in the wrong context.
@@Kawika. lol I snapped my A string after me and a friend accidentally bumped guitars...still don't have any clue how bumping broke the string
@@Kawika. Dude my G string is so fucked right now

Coffe is already a thing sir
Wow this is accurate as hell
The high E string was created for the sole purpose of making guitarists uncomfortable whilst tuning

This guy must have balls of steel. Every time I break a string by accident I have a heart attack. And he does that on purpose. Savage.
This is the bravest man I've ever seen...I'd be suffering from PTSD after all those strings...😂

Fun fact: I’ve somehow managed to break my G string more than my high E

breaking guitar strings is the biggest fear
Every time a string increases in pitch my anxiety increases, too
I have never been more stressed in my life.
My high E string broke once while I was playing. I tried to bend it and it wasn’t having it.
I'm not even trying to be funny or anything i genuinely suffered watching this, it actually made me feel physical pain - i dont feel this way when i see videos about people getting hit or hurt lol, but this, this really gave me the chills.
Same. I physically recoiled every time the string snapped.
This is actually a good shock treatment for my tuning anxiety. Thanks.
My heart is racing. No joke. I need to sit down.
Warning: a lot of high e strings lost their lives in the filming of this video.
I’ve been looking for one of those neck rests at the grocery store but lately they seem to be out of stock!
I'm not a guitarist, but still felt nothing but pain watching this.
oh god the anxiety,
and this is why i don't fully insert my strings in the pegs
Trying to tune with the locked strings really did hurt me the most, like nails on a chalkboard but worst
all of my anxiety in one video, tuning is not for the weak hearted
Yep. Turns my relaxing evening into a mini heart attack. I’ll never get used to breaking strings
This was painful to watch
This has happened to me like it has to many guitarists. The funny thing in my case is that it happened 5 seconds after I finished tuning the E string and played my first note on it.

Protective goggles are required to watch this video
And I'd still flinch
i was holding my hand over my eyes the entire time
also I have PTSD now
How is it that I've never broken a single guitar string ?😵
This is, like, literally one of the most excruciating videos I have ever seen
I once got that slamming noise when I was tuning. Thought I’d broken something but turned out nothing serious happened.
Or so I hope. Still plays well.
Probably a string lying on top of another and back falling into place. That would make the same sound.
Possibly the twisted part of the string was caught so the ball end wasn't actually seated, and the pop was it settling into its proper place. If it was an acoustic guitar, the ball end may have gotten caught on the tip of the pin instead of against the inside of the top of the guitar.

And that's why you always tune slowly and steadily.
I've been hearing my strings creak more and more lately while I tune my acoustic guitar, so this video really helped my ptsd😱😭

I've played and worked on guitars for around 40 year's, I think I've had this happen to me twice, I don't think it's that common.
Everytime a scene changed I quickly take my face away from the screen even though I know I kNOW!
The first one ALWAYS happens to me. I always forget to unlock the nut before I start messing with the tuners.
I've never had this happen to me (in 17 years of playing) and I genuinely don't understand how it happens to anyone who isn't just completely confused about what note they're supposed to be tuning to on which string. I vomited immediately after the first string snap. It’s like a jump scare followed by severe annoyance all in one
Good tip for tuning using a chromatic tuner: switch to neck pickup and put tone knob around 7. That’ll keep the indicator from jumping around as much.
My first snapped string was the A because I was trying to tune D but I was moving A , biggest facepalm of my life
Is it that common for strings to break. I've never had a string break when tuning the guitar just while playing and most of the time that's not as dramatic as this video.
I've been playing and tuning guitars for 15 years and I still haven't had this happen lol.
And that's exactly how she learned not to tune her set neck SG to Standard with Ernie Ball not even slinkies.
Tuning a floyd rose with the locking nut on?! Wtaf?! 😂😂🤪🤪
I'm scared every time I'm tuning it up to e. That's the scariest string of all.

This has never happened to me or my guitars before, but

Breaking a string on electric isn't half as bad as breaking one on Acoustic, especially a heavier gauge that's terrifying
my guitar was watching this with me...now he's traumatized : (
This hasn't happen to me yet, and it feels terrifying tuning my guitar knowing any day this could happen.
The amount of terror this gives me. Me and my dad sometimes restring our guitars and this is my worst fear.
This is one of the only two things that make my palms sweat (the other is heights).
