    Sean, love this new review format. It is exactly what I, as a neophyte beginning my journey into the audiophile community, am looking for from a review---comparisons among similar products in similar price ranges so I can make an informed buying decision or increase my knowledge about gear in a category. Thanks for the hard work!

    You nailed it Sean! This was a perfect review other reviewers should learn from. I really like that you always take into consideration different listener preferences, different amplification types, and speaker placement variations.
    Based on your review I’d choose the Triangles, since I can’t live without laser-focused imaging, but I already own KEF LS50s ))

    Very much appreciated this one, you narrowed my decision down very well. I especially enjoyed the section at 4:28 where you mention positioning and touch on front vs. rear ported. I was in the camp that was under the impression that front ported immediately meant that it would perform better against a wall, and honestly it had made me gloss over the Klipsch even though from your descriptions it seems that they're likely the best option for me.

    People don't understand the joys of those British-sounding speakers until they experience it. These ELACs sound a lot like the Celestion DL8s I started my hi-fi journey with. It's a more holistic approach to sound. Andrew Jones is one of very few people in the mainstream of hi-fi that seems to understand this. Everybody else is out chasing frequency extension to 40 khz, and he's building speakers with rolled-off highs and midbass warmth because that's actually what most people want to listen to.

    I purchased the Elac Debut Reference and have them partnered with the Denon PMA-800ne, with a Pro-ject RPM3 and I can say I could listen to these all day. Just a solid all around speaker, but they do better on speaker stands and away from the wall with a little sub too.

    Andddd of course, what little natural light makes into the house began to disappear shortly before I hit the 'record' button on my camera. Oh well. From the cave, it'll have to be. Anyway.. Yes people, at 2:08, I know there are in fact other options. Ya don't need to remind me of the JBL 530's. Also, no need to ask about any other speakers like Maggies, Monitors, Q's, Polk, and the list goes on. This video is exclusively about these three well-distributed, easy to access bookshelf speakers that I reviewed at this channel.

While I think there is real value to this type of comparison videos, I do wish there where more show rooms for people to listen for them self's. If only so I can get some friends off of the 40 dollar Logitech all in one computer speakers............. I know to many people who think all speakers sound the same.

      @@ZeroFidelity Andrew made a great video on this very topic. His conclusion is that we all, collectively, have killed the traditional hifi store by auditioning to the gear on display and getting advice from the seller, but then buying from the cheapest online store. And I'd have to agree with that, even if it's not the sole reason, in my opinion. We can't have it all. Either we support local shops for them to be able to keep the physical location open and all the costs involved, or we'll pretty much be stuck with the online trial periods and have the shipping back and forth hassle.

    • @ZeroFidelity
      @ZeroFidelity  4 года назад +5

      @@limp6986 - There are a number of factors that have B&M dealerships regulated to endangered status, none moreso than general consumer behavior. The bottom line is that few people on this planet know or care about fancy audio systems. And of the people who are aware of them, even fewer have the inclination to spend big bucks on a stereo rig and then spend hours of their time in front of it. We are a rare breed, indeed! This is the largest contributing factor - by far. Everything else in Andrews video is worth putting out into the audiophile world, but I wouldn't say audiophile behavior has killed off the B&M market. Quite the contrary - we're the only ones keeping them around.

      As a reviewer I feel sorry for you guys. You review a speaker and then get asked about comparing them to 1000 other speaker and I am willing to bet it never ends.... I'm guilty. I've asked about Totems hawks and magnepans more than once. As a guy watching your reviews I instantly want to know how something compared to something your reviewing as a way to measure against something we know.
      I do Thomas and Stereo the same way and I definitely apologize because you guys are more patient than myself. I would lose my mind If I was reviewing certain equipment and the comparison questions never end... thanks for your thoughtful and articulate reviews man!!
      Btw.. I have auditioned a ton of your suggestions and the freaking Magnepan 1.7i, rel 10" sub, with a rouge 3 tube amp blew my mind. I dont see how you can get all that much better at any price....lol. thanks again!!

    Great review as always...and great comparisons...as new to this hobby this kind of comparison makes it easy to not get buyers remorse or better yet, when trying out we can say well “if this speaker sounds like this then that speaker will “sound” like that”...also maybe include 1 higher priced then we can also see what we can get if we go for the more expensive speaker...

    Great job Sean! Cramming a lot of quality information into a short time format.I was really interested in the older Elac speakers at one time and I'm sure that I would love to own these or the Bros but I've got a doorway on the back right wall of my living room and to have speakers that need to be out from the wall would be a disaster sence they would always be getting walked into. I finally settled on a pair of JBL Arena 120s paired with a Velodine subwoofer after a rave review from Z-review so I have the Arenas right against the wall flanking my TV. Probably not ideal but have to work with what I've got. Love to hear your thoughts on these speakers sometime. OK, I've rattled on enough, again loved your review.

    Hi Sean , is iotavx enough for elac these speakers ? Or should buy the iota stack along with the pa3 ? or it’s not a good combination? I would originally get iotavx , the speakers and after two months the pa3 . Please please let me know your opinion.

    Hi, Sean. I have the Emotiva T1. But before that I have the Kef HTB which I find also good in music but a little bright. So I upgraded to Wharfedale Diamond 225 bookshelves but too warm for me (dark) but I really the smoothness. So in short, I got the itch thinking maybe I need to upgrade to a tower which I ended getting the T1s which I think is well balance as you mentioned in your review. It’s good for music (I love the bass) as well as for movies. But something is still missing . Do you think, I just need to upgrade on my amp to get the full potential on these speakers? I have a Yamaha AVR (14 years old). It’s has 140 watts per channel, two channel driven. Just for music, will these speakers here reviewed be an upgrade or better than all the speakers I have. Or should I just look for a better amp? Thanks for all that you do. You are the best. Any recommendations? I’m thinking about the Focal Chora 806 bookshelves. What do you think? I wish you can review them.

    You could easily plug one or both front ports on the Triangle to reduce bass in a small room. Without subwoofers too much bass is easier to fix than too little.

    Sean, these reviews are super helpful to someone relatively new at this. If listening mostly to music, would you recommend getting a sub also ? If yes, what are some options you can recommend with the Triangles? Also, is there any way to support you through purchase links etc? thanks for all the content.

    Really like the video, and the breakdown comparisons. And it got me thinking about the your other video, roasting Zero Fidelity. Seeing as how you want to step away for a while, or slow down a bit...I'm thinking that maybe this should/could be your new format, if you decide to go forward with your channel. Instead of doing 3 separate videos, just do one comparing 3 separate products in one. You get to reduce the # of videos you produce, yet the content doesn't lose any of it value. Instead it raises the value of the content because you will have put into one video it may have taken 3 videos and 39 minutes or so, for your audience to make a decision. Anyway, just footballing an idea...thanks for all you do, and keep up the great work until you decide not to, be safe. PEACE!

    Interesting. I had the opposite experience with the ELAC - tried them out for a few days and the high-end felt brittle and flat through the rest of the spectrum compared to by UB5s

    Hey Sean. How does the bro3 compare to the Polk lsim 703? Is the lsim 703 outdated compared to the triangle? I listen to all kinds of music and already have a very bright detailed speaker (swans diy 3.1 with modified crossover using ribbon tweeter) and would like to try a speaker that is laid back and easy to listen to for a long periods of time. Lsim703 are on sale and can be had for a great price right now.

    I have the Klipsch's older brother (RB 61 II) paired with the Reisong A10. The Reisong is a tube amp producing 6 watts/channel. The Reisong has a bit of roll off in the treble, which makes it a REALLY good match for Klipsch bookshelf speakers. It has good mids, too.
    Absolutely agree that Klipsch speakers do well with female vocals. From the nearly-whispered vocals on "Come out and Play" by Billie Eilish to the not even near to whispered "Der Holle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen" from "The Magic Flute" by Diana Damrau, Klipsch nails it.
    If you're building a system for a small room or a computer sound system (near-field), and you like female vocals and other mid-heavy musical genres, the Klipsch, paired with the Reisong is tough to beat.

  • @jordansjournal3077
    @jordansjournal3077 4 года назад +2

    For listening to music and watching movies, for example, you cannot go wrong with Klipsch. Even their entrance level R series are good. But you have to enjoy crisp treble forward presentation. The rest of the soundstage is acceptable too, though. I know this review was on bookshelf speakers, but I include towers.
    The only brand that makes stuff somewhat in the “ballpark” on price with the same type of feel as Klipsch (albeit a few hundred bucks more) are the Tannoy Revolution XT6 series.
    Now that is a fantastic set of speakers that separates them self from the competition. But you’re looking at $1100 CAD for the towers (good price) for those Tannoys.
