50 cent never cared about rapping. The guy is a business man. His only real interest was in making money and building his empire. He used rapping as a platform for a while until he could carry on. The thing about it is that 50 cent is internationally known in music. He is up there with Snoop Dogg in terms of the most famous rappers ever. He's more internationally embraced than Jay Z and T.I who are only really big in the US.

The whole "SOUTH DOESN'T GET RESPECT IN HIP HOP" idea is outdated. Most NYC rappers (and rappers in general) sound like they are from ATL or H TOWN. Even when the south didnt get respect in hip hop, NYC knew that TIP had bars just with a southern accent.
Adaptation and imitation are different from respect BUT I get where you’re coming from.

NY is biased and always has been and what's so ironic is that the younger generation of NY rappers sound just like southern rappers now! Ebro is from the West Coast for those that didn't know, but he's financially obligated to the East, let that marinate...
If we sound like the south how are we biased? Every coast is a bit biased and favor the sound they grew up on. There was definitely hate back in the day but niggaz act like it was all hate when it wasn't. The real funny thing is that NY radio doesn't even play NY music. Recently they've been playing more because of pop smoke but you dont hear most NY rappers on the radio. You'll never hear Griselda, Axel Leon, David Bars or Roc Marciano on rotation. You gotta sound like the south to be on rotation.

I disagree with T.I saying 50 wasn't an incredible lyricist. 50 cent wasn't the guy to go heavy on constructing clever rhyme schemes but his barz were just cold. The fact that he was really a drug kingpin , got shot 9 times and had a slur in his speech from the bullet fragment in his mouth somewhat magnified that ,but still. He had a simple way of delivery but it was so slick and gangster it hit heavy. Sometimes less is more. I've never heard of anyone quoting T.I barz from any song? But there are many quotable 50 cent barz that are well known.
