I wached your video several times before attempting to install the Larson door myself for the first time. Your techniques are MUCH easier than what Larson shows you in their picture instructions and I just need to see someone actually do it. Your idea of putting all the screws in to attached the hinges was GENIUS! Thank you for taking the time to show us your skills and techniques
Nice job buddy. Idk what folks are talking about. This video was basically a live action version of the instructions. The only thing I do different is I try to dry fit the rain cap and check the reveals from inside and out before securing it. Good work my friend!
Wow that was good! Easy to see and understand. Didnt do ours yet but will soon. One question though. I saw when you were inside there was a little space where light was coming in at the very top across the door...shouldnt this get a weather strip or something at the top? I'm concerned about water getting in on my wood floor.
How do you know the door is flush with the other side? I'd hate to drill all those holes and then find out I'm a quarter inch away from the other side. Also, I know this is a rental, but could you have adjusted the door to get rid of the crack on the top at the finish? Is there code on handle placement? Thanks. Excellent video.
I am not exactly sure what you mean by your first question. Are you replacing a door or installing a new one? So I tried to adjust the door, but the best option would have been to install new trim and build it out more to fill in the gaps. I opted not to because it was a rental. You want you door handle between 34 and 48 inches.
Replacing my storm door. Fit perfectly. You really helped me figure this out. Was pretty easy. Great idea by Larson to put the screws in the jamb with that slot so one person can drop the hinge into them, then tighten it up. Only thing would be to show how you put the glass back in. One of the panes was a half an inch smaller and has to go in the right slot. Thanks again.
I installed mine about 6 months ago in the threshold allows water in. I'm surprised they didn't tell us the caulk it but I figured it is cuz they wanted it to go in and drain. Apparently it doesn't drain and it's seeping up into the door and starting to show signs of damage. Any suggestions? Is yours holding up okay? I guess I'm just going to have to caulk the poop out of it.
Side note.. When lining up the hinge side, make sure that it is pllumb/level so the door swings out level. I installed a deck a 1/2 inch down from entry and door would only open up half way before scrubbing. The guy who installed the door 2 years ago was drunk and it is off a fe degrees ha The door worked fine when there was a step down.
Someone asked if Larson storm doors are easy to install. Short answer no. Their instructions are horrible and very difficult to understand. Lots of rabbit holes to find out how to install.
I've been struggling with this same door handle except mine came with a keyed lock. It's been hours and I cannot discover the trick to keep the lock spindle from just falling out of the handle. It took me an hour to install the actual door and I am on hour #2 messing with the door handle. Beyond frustrated with this piece of junk!!
The weight of the door varies by model. They can be anywhere from 60lbs and up. I found that the challenging part of installing the door was the awkwardness (height and width of the door) of trying to carry it, not the weight.
@@TheShadowman68 so there isn't really a specific spot it has to be located. Usually top or bottom. But it depends on the door. There are some guidlines when it comes to how close to the edge of the door, or how close to a window. But there isn't a specific location it has to be installed. I usually try to take the tension off when installing and then adjust it once it is in place. If the manufacturer has specific location then follow that, otherwise just work around where the windows or screens would be.
This had to one of the worst installiations of a storm door i ever have watched. I don't think the guy even read the directions. Also a storm is to keep the elements out, but notice the air gap at the top of the door. Also it would make things easier to start by installing the top raim cap first and not guess as to what the gap should be. O well it's you video, good luck!
I just had to quit watching... This guy was wrestling around letting gravity fight him the whole way. Just stand the door up to where the hinged side is looking straight up and set that rail with the hinges on it and screw it in place.. I was a nervous wreck watching him drop that rail about 10 times!
Exactly, even with Larsons dumbing down of instructions it was confusing, watching the video made it much simpler. Thank You SO much!

You rock! Your video was sooo much better than the manufacturer’s! I could not have put my replacement door up without this video! Thank you!!
YAAASSS a thorough video, love the attention to detail for the viewer with the pop up diagrams of parts
Looking for help with the handle. Nice and easy. Thanks!
Thank you sir for clear explanation and installation.
This is so good - and much better than the provided instruction sheet OR the Larson video. Thank you!

Glad it helped. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for sharing very helpful, my back door also falling apart.

Thank you. This helped
If the pnumatic close pulls screws out of door not jam, how can you fix. Hole will be stripped now???
Depending on the size of the hole, you could put a small drywall anchor in the hole. Use a larger screw.
What about the little safety clip supposed to be the last thing installed
Great video. Ps. I can almost hear the theme song to Benny hill playing in the background.

Thank you man!!!!!
Is there a way to get rid of the gap at the top of the door
Depends on how big the gap is. You could definitely put something like this in. amzn.to/3sYVedK
@@HomeRepairHub Oh sure.
Someone asked if Larson storm doors are easy to install. Short answer no. Their instructions are horrible and very difficult to understand. Lots of rabbit holes to find out how to install.
Nice video drip piece should be down further big daylight gap
My landlord installed the storm doors backwards on all the other apartments. They've been that way for years. Mine is right for some reason.
Great job👍🏾 Can u come put up my door cuz I can’t 😭😭😭😭😭it’s hardddd
Thank you! I couldn’t figure out the handle for the life of me.
Me too! 🤔 ?
Cool. Wish you could jsut comedo my install... im Always doing everything myself. 🙄
No you don't
Nice gap up top.... 🤔
😂 I’m literally just LMAO y’all are ruthless
@@jenniferminopoli2062 jus tryin to figure out how that's possible... 😂😁
@@miztrusa He left a 1/8th inch gap from the top jamb to the door on purpose. Why? No idea. The Larson video says to put it all the way up :/
The gap at the top is a NO go for me...
The "Easy Hang" feature was not taken full advantage of. That is exactly why Larson has the figure 8 holes pre-drilled. It goes flush at top!
How were u finishing to secure door frame🤷♀️. Do you assume if a person is watching an how to video, that there are some things they know😕🤷♀️
I am not sure what you mean. I explain in the video how to secure the frame of the door to the existing frame. What specifically are you looking for?

why a gap at top can see light coming in ?

If the pnumatic brace pulls screws out on door side. How can I repair it???
You did a terrible job
Can a woman lift a storm door alone? I weigh about 110.

Nice instructions. I think you missed some screws on the inside of the frame with the door.
Ya, I added them at the end.

Doing things the hard way
Looks like a big air gap on top of door
He missed a step at the beginning. Novice mistake.
VERY ‘informative’ ... but ya made that ONE BIG ‘mistake’. Ya didn’t READ the instructions closely.
Installed the door from backward…LOl, oh well is does close.
Does your husband know you're using his power tools ?
Instructions that come with it suck. They dont even tell you which side is exterior vs interior.
The rule I usually use is screw holes to the inside.
Ummmm the side with the screen handle is on the inside.... 🤔
@@miztrusa Ummm there is no handle until you put it on
@@stoneyj1a1 ummmm you can only put that handle on one side too.... 🤔
What?!? 😂
NO one tells specifically WHERE to place the bracket!
Which bracket?
@@HomeRepairHub "door" bracket" for closer. Small tension or no tension when mounting? You want some tension otherwise it would not completely close.
