- LSU head coach Kim Mulkey spoke with the media following her Tigers 79-72 loss to No. 1 South Carolina in Southeastern Conference Tournament Championship Game. Plus Angel Reese.

Interesting thing about the game before the incident was that there were other instances where members from opposing teams were helping each other up (in other words, there was good sportsmanship throughout the game). Even after Flau'jae got pushed down, it looks like Raven Johnson was attempting to help her up or at least checking on her.
Coach Mulkey should have not said " She wished she would have pushed Angel" That is not professional and not an example for your players who look up to you as a leader.
She is a problem for the NCAA. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but her lack or responsibility for any of that was unbelievable. She may be right about the ref’s, but she doesn’t take ANY responsibility for her own players response. I get not backing down, but it was her player that initially reacted in an aggressive way.
The trailer park coach is trying to inspire the ghetto players to more dirty play. That's LSU.

Both teams had dirty plays throughout the game, way to play victim for SC, the refs weren’t calling the game consistently, the girls were playing with heart, stop being soft, women or not basketball is a contact sport.

First, I didn't have a favorite in this game. I just knew that I would be seeing some quality basketball. I'm a B1G fan. I just wanted to convey the difference in Coach Staley's discussion of the unfortunate mess at the end of this extraordinary game, and Coach Mulkey's discussion. Not a surprise, Coach Staley took the high road by addressing what she could have done better to keep what happened, happening. She was gracious and left her fire outside the presser room.

Great game. Both teams played their hearts out, but a big difference on how Dawn Staley handled the press conf and Mulkey. Dawn was just a little more humble and they are the team that won and is undefeated. It’s obvious that LSU isn’t scared of SC but SC is still 3-0 against LSU in the past 2 years, including 2-0 this year. And SC lost all their starters from a year ago.
Remember this is a SC team that lost all their starters from last season.

I was going for South Carolina but Ashlyn walk up on her and was taunting her. That is very unlikely behaviour of South Carolina players to do, even Dawn Staley was surprised by them, that she had make apology for their actions.
There was jawing ALL game by BOTH sides, and I'm not mad at it. That is the entertainment side of it that viewers live for, and it's why this will be the next BIG rivalry for years to come. The issue is when you actually put your hands on someone (i.e. Kamila and Flau'jae). Dawn was apologizing for Kamila pushing Flau'jae and everything escalating, which is extremely valid. Mulkey is the leader of this team, and responded extremely poorly because it was HER player that poorly retaliated by shoving Ashlyn then that said player's brother hops OVER the scores' table and places his hands on Kamila (a female student-athlete). Coach Mulkey, you are a Coach and you should know the Rules! The Coaches are the only ones that "CAN" leave the bench to STOP a fight or potential fight. Now, Angel did a couple of dirty plays herself, so before you speak on another Teams Player, think about yours first.
I don't wish anyone would have hit anyone out there! And as a Coach, you shouldn't as well.

Let me say , I don’t condone fighting in basketball whatsoever. Anyone who has played knows how intense and heated you can get in the moment. But Kim Mulkey saying “I wish she would’ve pushed angel reese…pick on someone your own size” is the dumbest and most problematic response as a coach.
Watching it back, Flaujae initiated contact , both holding Fulwiley and shoving Watkins. Again, I’m not condoning this but some players do NOT play about their teammates and unfortunately can’t control their anger in the moment. Cardoso saw her teammate getting shoved, started seeing red, and came in for “the kill.” Flaujae shoved her teammate so she shoved FLAUJAE. Was she supposed to run over and shove angel for what Flaujae did? If angel was the one to shove her, I’m certain Kamila would’ve done the same thing. I don’t think it mattered who it was , she was going to respond in that way regardless. Was it right ? Of course not! But this pick on someone your own size argument doesn’t work in this situation.

If aneesa morrow pushed Watkins , Cardoso would’ve done the same thing. If Haley Van Lith pushed Watkins , Cardoso would’ve done the same thing. And so on and so on. So Kim saying pick on someone your own size DOESNT MAKE SENSE bc Cardoso wasn’t picking on her, she ran in to retaliate and defend her teammate. FLAUJAE pushed her , so FLAUJAE got pushed back. Now it was absolutely the wrong way to defend her teammate! But if a smaller player initiates a physical altercation , unfortunately all bets are off on how the rest of their team comes in to help and heights and sizes don’t matter.

Good to see Coach Mulkey standing up for her players and team. No need to hang their head they showed a lot of grit. They need to rest up and get healthy. I do think they have a chance to repeat. She need to incorporate Poa, Kent and Del Rosario a little more to even out the minutes of her starters.

I’m so happy with where our girls are! They battled and with all the injuries and back to back equal physical games I’m proud! I’m glad Mulkey spoke on the officiating these refs helped beat us

I think the refs should have stepped in and warned both benches. They are there to control the game. I think it was ignored early on and would like to think warning them would have made a difference.
